McCalebb earns his first accolade

Hey everyone. Tailback Onterio McCalebb has been named the Southeastern Conference's Freshman of the Week for his exploits against Louisiana Tech University.

Here is the official run-down from the league office:

ONTERIO McCALEBB
Running Back
AUBURN
5-10 • 164
Fort Meade, Fla. (HS/Hargrave Military Academy)

• True freshman rushed for 148 yards on 22 carries with one touchdown in the Tigers’ 37-13 win over Louisiana Tech.

• The 148 yards are the most ever by an Auburn freshman in a season opening game. The previous best was 123 yards by Bo Jackson in 1982.

• In the second half against the Bulldogs, McCalebb rushed for 108 yards on 16 carries and a TD.

Congrats to FAH!! Hey JGT, does he know we call him FAH?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Repost from the old thread: "Most of those TV folks were probably in Atlanta and didn't SEE AU play. They just looked at the stats, which we know is incompetent sportscasting! We are fortunate to have JGT give us the straight talk."

Congrats to O Mc. Dude is fast. I kept waiting for him to break a long run. We will see one soon.

I was very impressed with the O line. They really gave Todd time to run the plays.

The defense swarmed to the ball, which is what I expect from an AU defense.

Just correct the turnovers and penalties. At least Ziemba only jumped early once! That is progress.

Congrats to Sensi for being at the top of the Pick em'.

  6. For those who were asking about the new AU tags, I found out if you keep your current tag you can pay $2.75 fee for a replacement. If you change your personalization because they increased to 6 characters, you have to pay another $50. I was able to reserve my new personalization last night, so I guess they are available now. A lot of the personalization using 6 characters were already taken.

  7. I just retro-posted the "First Post" thread.

I figure ... it needs to be first. Duh.

  8. Hello jhag. Is it safe to assume you're actually not posting from class today? Wow!

Does anyone think the timing of the recruit was done after a good victory?

    I'm just asking

    ReplyDelete
  10. I would expect more people show up for this week's game. I'm sure MSU will bring a strong fan base. They are excited about their new coaching staff too. The reported 81000 and some change in attendance Saturday seemed generous to me. This is why Auburn doesn't need to expand the stadium. They just need to get back on the winning track and get these games sold out.

  11. Great job JGT
The season is here and the info is flowing

    ReplyDelete
  12. Kathy,
What county are you in? I went by the Inverness office in Shelby County and the woman there told me if I wanted the new tag I had to pay $50. Where did you find out we could get it for $2.75? I have to do some checking around.

Nothing like reading what Dad had to say about the Tila Tequila situation.

There are many funny things on that twitter page. Beware of language.

  14. Madison County cincy, here's the e-mail. Maybe it has something to do with the personalization:

    From: Jimmy R Mayo [mailto:tags@co.madison.al.us]
    Sent: Friday, August 28, 2009 8:07 AM
    Subject: Re: Auburn Tags

We are scheduled to receive them sometime in Sept. Once we receive them
you can turn in your old tag and get the new one for $2.75 replacement fee.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Kathy,

I said that yesterday. I know a lot of people want us to put an upper deck over the endzones, but until we sell out or get close to selling out the minor games, there is no need to expand the stadium...just continue to clean it up and make it more modern.

Maybe more money should go to the concession stand food.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Cincy, what's you e-mail address and I will forward you the complete e-mail. I changed my personalization, so I have to pay $50.

    ReplyDelete
  17. sing it ladies and gentlemen

One game at a time coach Chizik one game at a time, that's all we need to think about one game at a time. I know that is what he is telling the troops and we fans should sing along.

  19. Excellent THT. Thank you! I told my sister about the HABOTN Saturday and she was all for tailgate hoppin, but I couldn't remember where everyone was located.

  20. Michael - 2.0 made this photo on UNC campus right before she left the country (perhaps for her own safety). This is a completely separate sleeper cell than the ones at the Fire Station a day earlier.

    more puppet terrorists

    ReplyDelete
  21. It's a good thing she left, THT. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for lesser offenses. Frightening.

    ReplyDelete
  22. does someone recall AUFan???'s complete "handle". He tailgates in the hayfields which I think are on Lem Morrison Drive

    ReplyDelete
  23. Kathy,
I would love to have that info. The lady at Shelby was very adamant I couldn't change without paying $50, even to keep my same personalization. She didn't sound like she understood my question, but was very insistent in her answer.

    email is cincytiger@bellsouth.net

    ReplyDelete
  24. I left a link on one of these threads, to OMAC's pic. He had written MOM with a marker on his wrist band. I thought that was very neat.

For our opponents, that means Mean Onterrio McCalebb.

The net here is sucky today. I'll find the pic again when it's working better.

    ReplyDelete
  25. E-mail sent cincy. I went online and found an e-mail for Madison County. Maybe you should try that route and maybe you can get someone knowledgeable, or maybe my guy was wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I saw that pic via your earlier post Aero. I thought it was great.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Cincy - BINGO, AUFan365 (except leap year, I suppose)
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Saw that Aero. Thought it was very cool. The tandem of O Mc and Tate is going to be very good for the AU offense!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks, Kathy. I think I will try the email route.

  30. JayG.

In your article: AUBURN FOOTBALL: Chizik, Tiger fans in festive mood after impressive opener.

Line 4 has a typo. Than, not That.

  31. Daughter is so tired of being quarantined. She is feeling much better, but we go back to check on her WBC count tomorrow. The doctor wanted her to stay away from sick folks. I told her I would let her go walking around Bridge Street since it is an outdoor shopping mall. Better go get ready. Talk to you Hot folks later. War Eagle!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Isn't Onterrio the one whose mother has had trouble with drugs and they lived in their car for awhile? I believe he lived with his coach for a time? Seems I remember him saying he wanted to make it to the NFL so he could help his mom. Am I remembering this correctly or dreaming it?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Kathy - I don't blame the doctor for wanting to keep your daughter away from sick folks. I wouldn't want to be in T'loser, either.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Congrats to O. Mc. Is there a limit on how many times a player can receive that in a season?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Here is the article I was remembering.

    Onterio article

    ReplyDelete
  36. Cincy... I don't recall a drug problem, but his mom had financial problems, and he has spent a very, very tough life.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I stand corrected.

    ReplyDelete
  38. thanks for the map THT. fantastic. and now that i can see where Luv & Cincy were, it looks like i was looking for Cincy where Luv was and then walked right past Cincy's spot and didn't see her.

this is one of those adjustments you make after game 1. the most improvement happens between game 1 & game 2. :)

i think this weekend may just be a quick day trip. we'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  39. AU1NO4-I agree with the timing of the recruit. I also think it is to offset an announcement that UAT will get this week from some DE in North Carolina on Wednesday. he is down to them and UNC.

However, i do not follow recruiting so what do i know. But Owens is 1 of the package of 5 I am expecting to commit to AU.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Scottie-You are right on the biggest adjustments occur between game one and two. Maybe Gus can get our average score up to about 45, where he is accustomed by next week.

    ReplyDelete
  41. We need more Cow Bell!

So we can kick their butt!

    War Eagle!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous12:43 PM

wtc - I do recall your package deal.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I got a need for more cow bell.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous12:44 PM

    darn

    ReplyDelete
  45. Watched that MSU game whenever it was. I think that may actually be a little TOO much cowbell.

    ReplyDelete
  46. wtc - would that be Alfy Hill or Gabe King?

    ReplyDelete
  47. oh, found it... Alfy Hill, DE from Shallotte, a tiny town on the coast below Wlimington.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anonymous12:56 PM

wtc - You still feeling good about your 5? Even though you don't follow recruiting.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Feeling very good about it. Watch for some others to come on board before too long.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Cincy - you gonna watch the Bearcats vs Rutgers in 1 hr 45 min?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I would love to see me some long KO returns. Win or lose vs MSU, I hope we annihilate WVU!!!

    From AP writer John Raby:
"West Virginia did nothing to improve its standing as one of the nation’s worst in yards allowed on kickoffs. Two of Liberty’s drives after kickoffs started in West Virginia territory, and Western Washington transfer Josh Lider booted one out of bounds."

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anonymous1:29 PM

THT thanks much for the map ... our tailgate is actually set up on the corner of Lem Morrison and Donahue across from Ham Wilson arena. We welcome all who happen to come by (A little out of the way from most but a great place with lots of parking and room)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yep,
Not so much because it is Cincinnati, although we do have a lot of friends who have kids there, but because it is college football!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. exactly, cincy. It's college football, therefore it is worthy of being watched.

Thanks for the clarification, AUFan365. I couldn't remember what you had told me last week.

    ReplyDelete
  55. MrsTHT just called from work. I need to go get her a bookshelf at Wal-Mart and take it to her office. Y'all Hotties keep the UA-T hate alive!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. AU1N04, FAH is aware of the nick. I messaged him and told him about where it came from. How does Onterio McCalebb fit into the offensive scheme? He's fast as hell, that's how he fits in. Jay G is the man.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I think the committment was planned but I think we would have gotten it win or lose. I definately think we will get a big committment after our 1st lose just to ease the sting.

Kat I like that the new tags have more color but I really need to see one on a car. I really like the current/old tags and it looks great on my black car!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Congrats to FAH!! He was as good as advertised. He is about to get a bullseye on his back so I hope he is ready.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Talk about a bullseye. Fanin must have had one on his front and back. He took some lickin and kept on tickin.

    ReplyDelete
  60. THT, I'd like to see that as an interactive google map. That way, you can add more, and possibly some that are tailgating in outer areas. Plus, it'll have "steet view," which is cool.

    ReplyDelete
  61. What did R. McClain (bama LB) do that required an apology? My hate for bama has even prevented me from watching any parts of their season until Nov.

    ReplyDelete
  62. He shoved a VT player long after the whistle, then, upon getting a personal foul, yelled at a ref and pushed him as well, drawing a second personal foul. Out. Of. Control. He got a personal visit from $atan when he got back to the bench.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Jay G Tate getting some "lunchtime link[age]" love from Chris Low today.

  65. Anonymous2:36 PM

Oooh and UGA looses another lineman...more problems.

    ReplyDelete
  66. AUBigCat. You mean this time?

rolando mcclain pushed / shoved a ref.

Previously he has beaten up a dude in a frat house.

He's just trying to fit in with the saban bunch.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Just finished watching most of MSU game. Should be able to beat them if we contain Dixon and the 2nd string QB Relf, a Montgomery product. Relf imo is a lot like Kodi, strong arm, good runner, average accuracy. Their D gave up some big plays but were helped by lots of penalties and sloppy play from JSU.

    ReplyDelete
  68. McClain did all of that and didn't get ejected??? What the...!!! Guess I shouldnt be suprised.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Anonymous2:58 PM

He probably got the game ball and ice cream.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Yard work done.

We need some pledges. We need the dues.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Well the breaking the nose of a frat guy case was last year. Swept under the rug, no charges.

During the game he got in a scuffle with a VT guy, and pushed him to the ground after the play was called dead. The VT guy got up and the ref got between them, and then mcclain shoved / struck the ref. He drew two personal fouls.

little nicky looked terrified when facing rolo. That guy is, like most other bammers, out of control.

The thug will be playing next week. Don't expect anyone to question that. Falling up the stairs is not good for health.

    ReplyDelete
  72. McClain's punishment was being named defensive player of the game by the Bama coaches, according to al.com.

That should teach him a lesson.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anonymous3:22 PM

    Sheesh, I was just kidding.

    Are you serious AUfan?

    Good grief.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Anonymous3:27 PM

Was Eric Smith dress for Saturday?

    ReplyDelete
  75. It was reported in Gentry Estes' column, Sensi.

I expected the Bama nation to excuse his behavior, but to see the coaches name him defensive player of the week...

I guess it shouldn't be surprising. I have heard Saban supporters state he will do anything to win, and there is a lot of truth in that statement. Not sure it is all positive as the Saban Worshipers choose to believe.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Anonymous3:31 PM

THT ... other then not knowing where I am tailgating (Me ... not you) it looks easier to follow and pick up the sites.

I am actually on the corner of Donahue and Woodfield ( I just couldn't remember the name) ... sorry Heheh

Sensi, if you mean is it an open invite to tailgate the answer is "YES" any "hottie" who cares to is always welcome!
