Gotta write. Gotta be quick.
- The DE from Ariton High, Craig Sanders, has committed to Auburn. He previously had been committed to Alabama.
- Jeff Grimes said Andre Harris has not played this season, which goes against what Gene Chizik said earlier in the week. Apparently, the head coach confused two players.
- Trooper Taylor said he expects Kodi Burns to play against Tennessee.
- Chizik said QB Tyrik Rollison is making the trip to Knoxville. I don't interpret that as the kid has any chance of playing, but he will see Neyland Stadium from the sideline.
Substance on iPhone
ReplyDeleteTubs never stole a recruit that was commited to bama and Chizik does it in less than a year. I did not realize that.
ReplyDeleteill take 4
ReplyDeleteEvening, Hotties.
ReplyDeleteHey Kristina. You going to show up at Tiger walk this weekend?
ReplyDeleteI just got the LONGEST email in history from an Iowa guy. I wonder if it'll even fit here.
ReplyDeleteTyrik going to Knoxvegas is probably only as a backup of the backup and to let him see an environment like that. Not many people get to see that many screaming hillbillies in one place.
ReplyDeleteAs for whether PPL will play or not play, let me make this perfectly clear that Chizik wants to ensure it isn't clear who will or will not play and I am firmly committed to that position.
post it in pieces!
ReplyDeleteHead to Head, Iowa is better. Iowa in the Kirk Ferentz era has routinely been better than Penn State. You may argue that 2008 was a fluke, it was a last second upset, but there is no argument in saying 2009 was a fluke by winning on the road by 2 scores.
ReplyDeleteIowa's is the only team this year to beat 3 BCS conf teams.
Iowa's opponent's record to date:12-4, all are 3-1, including Iowa State.
Penn State's opponent's record to date: 8-7, take out 4-0 Iowa, they are 4-7.
Iowa has the 11th rated hardest schedule according to Jeff Sagarin, Penn State has the 83rd toughest. Your Auburn Tigers, 104th hardest schedule(I agree with you that Auburn should be ranked) (Sagarin Rankings are found http://www.kiva.net/~jsagarin/sports/cfsend.htm)
I've backed up my opinion of why Iowa should be ranked. I'm not trying to be attacking, like I emailed initially, or think that Iowa is a top 10 team, I just want to know what is your rationale at why Penn State is better? I've also emailed others who voted Iowa higher than Penn State and lower than Penn State (and also Cal higher than Oregon) so I want you to feel that I am not targeting you.
Second question, if you were on PTI or some show and asked to defend it against someone who ranked Iowa higher, what would you say?
Finally - How do you feel about the Harris Poll Voters and Coaches Poll Voters having their ballots secretive? The computer polls are all available, as is the AP; do you as a AP voter think that the all the ballots should be public or private?
I look forward to your answers and again, thank you for taking the time to correspond back.
Well Jay, just reply short and simply.
ReplyDeleteDear Cornpone,
I think Penn State is better.
Love,
Jay
Dude is nice and all, but I don't answer to him. I'm not going to handle all three prongs of this inquisition.
ReplyDeleteIt's Iowa. It's Week Five. Take a deep breath, homey.
Bro, you've got mail.
ReplyDeleteJeeeeeez why is this guy taking all this time to write this?
ReplyDeleteSeems like a level headed cornpone there.
ReplyDeleteWhat else is there to do in Iowa?
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should ask Chizik next time you talk to him.
There is a flaw in his logic. You were not voting on who would win if Penn State played Iowa. Next.
ReplyDeleteBack in 2000, J-Cam accompanied the team on all the road games and dressed even though he was always going to redshirt. It's all part of bringing them along.
ReplyDeleteImagine if Jay G had ranked someone over Alabama that Alabama had beaten...
ReplyDeleteOr imagine later in the season if Alabama is close to a possible national title and if Jay G ranked someone above them.
It could get nasty in The Gump.
Ah, I hadn't even considered the possibility of Jay G being biased because he has talked to Chizik, who is the former head coach of Iowa State. Admit it Jay. Chizik paid you off to keep Iowa out of the poll because..... ummm, someone help me here.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this has anything to do with a grassy noel, by any chance?
ReplyDeleteE-Bro,
ReplyDeleteI remember a lot of fans at the 2000 SEC championship game wanting to burn the redshirt and let him play instead of Leard after Lito Shephard intercepted him in the 1st quarter.
I'm sure most of those comments were out of frustration, but still.
You'll need help with that one, too.
ReplyDeleteThe worst situation of a player being dressed out and not playing and angering people around me was the 2001 Peach Bowl when Carnell was dressed out but not playing.
ReplyDeleteWhen the people around me saw him in his jersey they went crazy as the game went on they were cussing Tub for not playing him.
lets look at the Alabama Super Senior 12
ReplyDeleteNo. 12: Sam Gibson ath/QB, Prattville- LSU
No. 11: Kenneth Carter DL, Greenville- Auburn
No. 10: Jawara White LB, Charles Henderson- Auburn
No. 9: Solomon Patton R, Murphy- Florida
No. 8: Corey Grant, RB, Opelika- Alabama
No. 7: Jarrick Williams, S, Blount- Alabama
No. 6: Craig Sanders, DE/TE, Ariton- Auburn
No. 5 Jalston Fowler, RB, Vigor- Alabama
No. 4 C.J. Mosley, LB, Theodore- Uncommited
No. 3 Jeremy Richardson, R, Springville- Auburn
No. 2 LaDarius Owens, DE, Jess Lanier- Auburn
No. 1 DeMarcus Milliner, CB, Stanhope Elmore- Alabama
looks like Auburn is leading 5-4. Chizik and Co...NICE!
Here's another Iowan email.
ReplyDeleteAgain, these are respectful people. Just ... a little preoccupied with a poll that is months from being important.
--------
If it isn't too much trouble I'd like you to explain your high ranking of PSU. In addition, your reference to corn on your blog in responding to an ugly comment from an Iowan doesn't really add credibility to your professionalism. I suspect if I wanted to I could come up with a plethora of stereotypes for Alabamians. Many would be noncomplimentary.
Apparently iKarl has a cult and these are his followers.
ReplyDeleteAdmit it Jay G. You just ranked Iowa low to get traffic to the HABOTN.
ReplyDeleteYou have no journalistic integrity, you just wanted website hits.
Lac was never going to play in the 2001 Peach Bowl. Not sure why they dressed him out except for gamesmanship. He didn't go through any practices. Besides, we had Chris Butler. Why worry? Wait, what?
ReplyDeleteAs far as Jason in 2000. Good thing fans don't always get their way. Where would we have been in 2004 without him?
Jay G., have you gotten mail from anybody OTHER than Iowa fans?
ReplyDeleteI know there's not a lot to do in Iowa unless it's a presidential election year, but dang.
Good thing I'm not an Alabamian.
ReplyDeleteBro- post it.
I don't believe Jay was referring to corn. I am not sure brought up the cornpone. It was me Iowans!!! I said cornpone!!! Do your worst!!! By the way, I ain't in Alabama!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Ball State replay is on fss right now. In case your wondering, the 4th quarter still looks bad.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what we're doing, Eddie. All I know is I'll be there.
ReplyDeleteLa Tech beating Hawaii on ESPN2...yay go LA LIGHT
ReplyDeleteChris Butler transfered here to UTC and never played.
ReplyDeleteI haave been out of town. Never saw the Sanders kid coming this fast. Had heard AU had a real shot of getting him to switch, but not this soon.
ReplyDeleteI guess this was the guy Dyer and Reed were working on at the WVU game. Still along way to February.
JGT - I am very excited about your upcoming hypothetical appearance on PTI. Say hi to Kornheiser.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what is the weather supposed to be like in Knoxville this weekend?
I would say the best way to handle e-mail such as this to handle such situations. You can make up a form letter that says something like.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for where I ranked (insert teams name here). It was a clerical error and we be corrected in the next pole. I do believe (insert teams name here) may be the best team in the country.
Feel free to use the paragraph above, but make sure you do NOT replace (insert teams name here) with anything. Let me know how that works for you.
La Tech leading Hawaii 10-6 at the half.
ReplyDeleteAnother Iowan:
ReplyDeleteHey Jay,
I wanted to ask you.... what the hell are you thinking??!!! Iowa 11 spots behind Penn State? You clearly did not watch a nationally televised game.
You are an insult to the polls and to the players and in this case to Iowa.
Pathetic.
(They obviously don't realize that I cover Auburn full time and don't sit at home on Saturdays watching games on the couch.)
Not that you follow recruiting right wtc?
ReplyDeleteOkay, maybe a poll instead of a pole and a few typo glitches, but it is crazy enough to work. There will be heads exploding all over Iowa.
ReplyDeleteKnoxville weather calls for mostly sunny and a high of 68. Looks to need a sweatshirt or jacket for the game.
ReplyDeleteIt's been all Iowa for a few days. Most of them have been reasonable and polite. I'm pretty impressed overall.
ReplyDeleteAlso: Can someone look back and see if I made any rude comments about Iowa? I don't think I did.
ReplyDelete(I have to write this Trooper story NOW.)
Hey, you admit that the cornpones are entertaining.
ReplyDeleteHawaii is averaging 515 ypg, La Tech held them to 160 in the first half...I hope pollsters are watching this and remember we curb stomped them for what 570+ yards?
ReplyDeleteJay, I don't recall you making a rude comment about Iowa.
ReplyDeleteAll Iowa All the time!
ReplyDeleteDarn pollsters.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome, AU1.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe so JGT, I think it was Eddie!
ReplyDeleteGo Hawkeyes!!! Squawk!!! Or something like that.
ReplyDeleteI'm bettin that those cornpones are pasting the same email to all the AP pollsters that had PSU over Iowa.
ReplyDeleteThose boyz have considerable 'puter skillz in the cornfield.
I made some rude comments to ikarl, but not Iowa.
ReplyDeleteI'm just impressed that people in Iowa have internet access.
ReplyDeleteI just need to make sure I change it back before I head out of town tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteBut I thought it was a tad funny.
I haven't e-mailed a single AP voter that I disagree with. I'll try to step it up.
ReplyDeleteEhyou- there us too many to email at this time.
ReplyDeleteGo Hawkeye...
ReplyDeleteI just don't get it. If it were near the end of the season, I might understand, but to irritate a voter at this point in the season isn't exactly helping your team out. Jay is a pretty level headed guy, so it probably won't matter. If it were me, there would be no way I would vote for them again. I wouldn't risk putting them in the wrong spot.
ReplyDeleteJay G- I'll say what you can't and that defense is PATHETIC.
ReplyDeleteGotta love the "ruling" on Tiger Walk from UT. There hasn't been a hose-job like that since Delta v. Faber.
ReplyDeleteI think you've ranked the Vandals pretty low myself Jay G.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's Idaho? Idaho is the Vandals?
There's a difference between Iowa and Idaho?
Which one did Hayden Fox coach?
LaTech 17--Hulahoops 6
ReplyDeleteHayden Fox coached Minnesoooooota
ReplyDeleteIowa's schedule has been about as tough as ours so far, although Penn State is probably better than West Virginia. They did beat Northern Iowa 17-16, and I had Northern Iowa in my preseason top 10.
ReplyDeleteEhyou- I think you mean a certain Auburn / Georgia game in the 80's.
ReplyDeleteHoopie- I believe it was Minnesota State.
ReplyDeleteCan't have the entire band at Tiger Walk? How about 1 smokin' trumpet player and 10,000 AU fans singing.
ReplyDeleteWe don't need no stinkin cheerleaders.
Is there a difference between Hayden Fox and Hayden Frye, or is like Iowa and Idaho and nobody cares?
ReplyDeleteIm bringing my tuba
ReplyDeleteHawaii beat Washington State fairly easily. LaTech is doing pretty darn good.
ReplyDeleteNight Hotties. See you all in the AM.
ReplyDeleteWashington State is pretty awful though.
ReplyDelete"This is an announcement to all fans...do not try to get on the field after the game..we repeat.."
ReplyDeleteThose D-Azz leg humpers couldn't see the irrigation hoses setup on the sidelines...we saw them.
We were immediately above the upper deck portal...a UGA fan runs down to the portal entrance...looks up and screams..Auburn S--ks. I threw my thoroughly chewed, yet still lit cigar into his face. Next time I saw him he got knocked on his butt by a hose stream.
Washington State hung pretty close with USC.
ReplyDeleteIf 27-6 is hanging close Steve, then yeah I guess
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteYes it is.
ReplyDeleteOk folks. You all stay classy!
ReplyDeleteEnough of the Cornography! It's Tennessee week. Hello Kiffin and Crompton!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA whatever helps you sleep at night
ReplyDeleteIt was a pretty weird game though, USC score a lot early. Washington State had a lot of first downs, but much less yardage.
ReplyDeleteActually, for 27-6 against USC, that is holding it close for Washington St.
ReplyDeleteMy boss is a USC season ticket holder and he was pretty disappointed with how the game went.
Yea, I had expected USC to blow them out big time. A lot of it probably has to more be due to USC's offensive issues, though.
ReplyDeleteThe 2 UT alum that sat by me at chruch choir practice tonight aren't encouraged. They feel that Crompton would be good for 3 ints against AU. I responded that...3 ints would be enough for AU to win fo sho.
ReplyDeleteHave I mentioned how much I love Kentucky as a general rule?
ReplyDeletethe braves folded like a lawnchair. bases loaded, bottom of the ninth, down by 1, passed ball, Diaz get caught scampering back to 3rd for out number 3.
ReplyDeleteMatt Diaz's indecisivness may have ended the Braves hopes this year.
ReplyDeleteThat kid is a good hitter, but is lost on the bases and in the OF.
La Tech is putting it on Hawaii
ReplyDeleteLiving out in Denver, I've been torn about the MLB wildcard race the last week or so. I guess either way I was going to win.
ReplyDeleteLa. Tech versus Boise St. in Ruston the first Friday in November on ESPN. Circle your calendars. The Broncos' BCS run will come to a screeching halt...or not.
ReplyDeleteI've said it before, and I'll say it again: when the season is history, no one will remember the wins or losses, or the championships.
ReplyDeleteAll that matters is where you were ranked in the polls at the end of September. Knowing that, I can understand the Iowans' frustrations.
Hawaii player just got lit up...
ReplyDeleteHawaii Qb might be dead, anyone see that hit
ReplyDelete?
Slobberin' Lou just stated that he got his masters degree at Iowa.
ReplyDeleteJay...any spittle covered emails from anon Iowa fans?
Anyone here that porn reference made by Lou?
ReplyDeleteHawaii is startin' to have flashbacks from the 2008 Sugar Bowl
ReplyDelete'hag..I can't understand a word Lou says.
ReplyDeleteTwo words that should never go together.. porn..and Lou
ReplyDeleteI support Ashley Judd.
ReplyDeleteThis Hawaii team isn't the team that played Georgia in the Sugar Bowl a few years back, but they ain't no cornpone either.
ReplyDeleteLou Holtz interview.
ReplyDeleteThis dead thread brought to you by SteveFC, the thread killer.
ReplyDeleteEveryone's off Googling Ashley Judd, thanks to JGT.
ReplyDeleteLucky this Hawaii team isn't facing a team with a real defense. They would definitely be in trouble.
ReplyDeleteFunny how all these teams we've played with lousy defenses have all gotten less lousy since they played us.
ReplyDeleteI am camping in top of Monte Sano right now. It is pretty dang chilly.
ReplyDeleteI was not expecting Sanders to flip this quick. Glad he did though. I don't think it will be the last $puat defection in the coming months though.
War Eagle!! Hate uat!
There does appear to be a difference between Ashley Judd and Wynonna Judd.
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed the shucking of the Iowa dude. Sounds like it was bushells of fun.
ReplyDeleteWe call it maize.
ReplyDeleteI can understand the Iowa fan's frustration. They feel like they get no respect, but the guy in here yesterday was a hoot.
ReplyDeleteI think we all support Ashley Judd.
ReplyDeletemaizepone?
ReplyDeleteOk. My tranquilizer is kicking in. Later hotties.
ReplyDeleteDidn't notice when they played us, but LA Tech has a player named Duplessis.
ReplyDeleteSounds like some sort of industrial process. Or an alternative form of macrocellular reproduction.
The La Tech win is looking better; I think La Tech has a good chance to beat Boise State. Here's hoping they do.
ReplyDeleteI doubt LaTech beats Boise State. Boise State pretty much handed Oregon their butts. It would be nice to see though.
ReplyDeleteGood lord that was an impressive run. That guy carried the Hawaii team for 5 yards.
ReplyDeleteMark May just said Iowa should be ranked #4...baaahahahahahhahaa
ReplyDeleteFreep, that was a brilliant retort and now resides atop the blog.
ReplyDeleteMark May doesn't want the hate mail. He's heard the rumors from his soon to be broadcast partner in Montgomery.
ReplyDeleteKernels in a husk, me and Mark May.
ReplyDeleteDid I hear Dr. Lou say he only has 3 teams in his top 10. Everyone else is 11 and lower. Now, that is unique.
ReplyDeleteSteve - Any team good enough to stay within 24 points of Auburn will have a great chance to beat Boise State.
ReplyDeleteWait, by how much did we beat Ball State?
Cr. Lou got his masters at Iowa where 3=10.
ReplyDeleteMacrocellular reproduction's line against Auburn: 5 carries, 6 yards.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, our defense is better than they appear. It will come out if we get in a close game.
ReplyDeleteIt may be a long way til signing day in Feb but preception is here now!! That unbreakable stranglehold Saban had on the recruits in Alabama doesnt feel so tight these days.
ReplyDeleteHearing all this good recruiting news has me about as happy as going to the ATM with somebody else's PIN.
ReplyDeleteDamn, JGT. What can I say, I am truly honored.
ReplyDeleteSometimes being a smartass pays off.
I suppose I should go fill out my tps reports.
ReplyDelete
