LATE player/coach comments, 10/13

Let's boogie. I've got video to do.

  • DE Antonio Coleman on his powwow with Vito Corleone Gene Chizik on Monday: ``It went great. I went up and talked about the defense. He's a very understanding guy. We sat down, had words, nothing serious. It was a great chat. I chatted with him about all the small things that caused us to lose, the things we have to correct."

  • More on that meeting: ``The first five games were great -- flying around and having fun. The sixth game was a tough loss. We didn't go out and we weren't prepared. I went up and talked about what our mindset was and how I thought the guys on the team were reacting to that loss. That opened our eyes. We're a much better football team just learning from that loss."

  • LB Joshua Bynes on today's practice: ``Today was a great practice, very physical. Coach Chizik wanted it. The offense was going against the defense at the beginning of practice setting the tone. The scout team was even physical. All you heard all practice were pads clacking, everybody was getting after it. It’s been a long time since we’ve heard things like
    this."

  • Gus Malzahn on the need for more threats at wideout: ``The longer you go the more you have to have a third guy or even a fourth guy. Some guys to get involved and take some pressure off our main guys. We're working hard to do that and we're hoping we have some guys in the wings that can do that."

  • TB Onterio McCalebb on ... cold weather: ``They said it's supposed to be cold again. We're supposed to play a night game, so I have to get prepared for that. It will be my first game that's like this, me playing football like this. I'm from Florida. I ain't used to playing in some cold like this. I'm used to playing in the heat. But I'm adjusting to it well and I'm ready to go."

Sensi - your not an idiot. Congrats.

  4. I think AC should have kept his mouth shut about talking to the coach, and just did it without telling everyone what he was going to do.

  5. Good show guys enjoyed listening to the whole show and also enjoyed talking to you.

  6. Thanks digger. Vice versa. Call again.

Did you enjoy this type show vs the old way we were doing it?

  7. Chizik said the chat wasn't about the direction of the defense and Coleman said it was about the defense.

Anyone know what they really talked about?

Maybe they were catching up on Monday nights episode of House?

  8. Yes I did I had rather have open conversations with personal opinion like it was tonight.

  9. Sensi,

I got your message on Facebook, but was watching NCIS at the time so didn't get to listen or call in. I will listen tomorrow.

  12. Eddie,

I was a first time listener tonight from about 8:40 on. I did not have anything to say that would have been substantial; however, I did enjoy listening to what others had to say. I do believe that we are where Arky was last week. This a must win for us in order to insure bowl eligibility. We also have a couple of tough games following this week and are still almost 5 weeks until an off week. You know these players are getting a bit weary. Oh well, I am going to say Auburn to win about 35 to 14. I think that we will see some renewed vigor from the offense and I believe that the coaches will have the defense playing with a different attitude. I don't have that same confidence in our special teams however. Maybe they won't get us into many bad situations this week. WAR EAGLE

  13. I for one am glad AC spoke up publically. I was beginning to think that the D was getting comfortable and just accepting their state of play. Auburn's defenses have been too good for too long for them to NOT be pissed off.

  14. Digger- Thanks for the feedback. That is the way we are wanting to go with the show from now on. Glad you liked it that way better.

RK- I was going to call you out for the player hater you are :)!!!!! BTW, Coleman was discussing his draft status and why Sen'Derrick screwed it up for him.

  22. Jet's post on previous thread reminded me of something I'd like to piss on....but I won't go there.

  24. Hey AC is a voice on the D that people listen to.

I don't think there is any Strife on the team. Just some on the outside, who don't follow it everyday may think diffrent. Thats all

  28. When tomatoes are out of season it's banana and mayo sammiches. Not quite as good, but pretty darn close.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Guys do you think that the "soft" practices before the season have contributed to our poor tackling and gap assignments?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ehyou ...

I had tomatoes bought fresh last week from Siloam Springs, Ark., while eating breakfast in Fayetteville.

    BEST. TOMATOES. EVER.

And I didn't even have mayo with them.

  31. Kathy, I think "had words" meant something different to Coleman. The way he said it, the phrase is the same as "we talked."

    ReplyDelete
  32. This video is above average.

I enjoyed this one. It's funny.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ehyou both are winners in my book! Yum Yum!!

  34. I like what I'm hearing. I think we show up Saturday.

    AU - W
    UK - L

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yea, if Coleman and Chizik had really had words, you would notice his notable absence on Saturday.

  36. Phred ...

On the new, kinder, gentler HABOTN, we don't pick winners and losers as that stigmatizes people.

    Please withdraw your hurtful speculation.

A poor attempt at drawing parallels.

Bear Bryant's manipulations always helped his university and most all of the associated Bama folks... to the dismay of outsider's. He was also never an embarrasment to his university.

Other than donating family-named buildings to get back in good graces and shuffling a few coaches.....can't say the same about the "Booster". Surely there have been enough examples.

It's really sad that the folks that "will take his money" don't realize how much more money than he has given, has and is being witheld because he shouldn't be allowed to control it.

  41. I will be at the game, but unsure about tailgating. Hubby's folks are bringing their RV so we may be out there. Bleh
