OLE MISS at AUBURN, 1st half

Welcome everyone to Jordan-Hare Stadium, where the Auburn University Tigers are playing host to the University of Mississippi Rebels. The game can be seen on the SEC Network. That means it's probably on one of the local networks in your area.

Auburn has made no changes to its depth chart.

  • Ole Miss first possession: TOUCHDOWN. Andy Hartmann 7 pass from Jevan Snead. PAT kick good. Drive covered 94 yards in 10 plays.
      OLE MISS 7, AUBURN 0

  • Auburn first possession: FIELD GOAL. Wes Byrum 36 FG. Drive covered 41 yards in 6 plays.
      OLE MISS 7, AUBURN 3

  • Ole Miss second possession: PUNT. Auburn missed a pair of prime interception situations ... one by Neiko Thorpe, one by Joshua Bynes.

  • Auburn second possession: TURNOVER ON DOWNS. Auburn faced a 3rd-and-1 ... and couldn't get the single yards. I don't understand why Auburn would run from a shotgun formation on 4th-and-1. Maybe you understand.

  • Ole Miss third possession: MISSED FG.

  • Auburn third possession: PUNT. Penalty on first down, dropped pass on second down.

  • Ole Miss fourth possession: TURNOVER ON DOWNS. Ole Miss went for it on 4th-and-6 ... and Snead was sacked for an 11-yard loss. Oops.

  • Auburn fourth possession: PUNT. Not much going on there.

  • Ole Miss fifth possession: PUNT.

  • Auburn fifth possession: TOUCHDOWN. Darvin Adams 28 pass from Chris Todd. PAT kick good. Drive covered 90 yards in 6 plays.
      AUBURN 10, OLE MISS 7

  • Ole Miss sixth possession: TURNOVER ON DOWNS. The half was about to end anyway.

    Xcellent!!

  3. Ben Tate needs 118 yards to go over 3,000 for his career, does he get it today?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Anonymous11:19 AM

Ole Miss 9- 24 all time against AU. Please don't let them get to double digits

    ReplyDelete
  5. Cadillac & Carlos Rogers are apparently walking out with the team today.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Mario Speedwagon averaging 8.5 yards per carry this year. Does he get a good amount of carries today?

    ReplyDelete
  7. WOW Lots o Empty seats..

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ole Miss isn't going to know what hit 'em!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I've been working on a pair of HS stories. Sorry for the late start.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Lots of empty seats, no doubt.

    WHAT A SMACK!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Who's special teams was that?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Good start, kickoff into the endzone...but how did we not recover that fumble?

    ReplyDelete
  14. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' 'BOUT!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Anonymous11:23 AM

Let that be the start of something PLEASE!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. how did we miss that ball 4 people.... right on top

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh well, so much for the momentum.

    ReplyDelete
  18. All the momentum in the world can't help our defense. That blows.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Eltoro burned on the pass. Was he blitzing?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Freeman missed the coverage on the big play.

    Oh, the bull.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anonymous11:27 AM

    ELTORO!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Eltoro is playing today. Pretty cool.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Looking too easy for Ole Miss to move the ball starting at the 6 yardline.

    ReplyDelete
  24. This bend and break defense is driving me nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Notice how our slade lept at him off his feet to try and make that tackle. That is the key reason this defense can't tackle. Period.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Eltoro makes one big play, but it doesn't make up for the 40 yard play he didn't cover well.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Bad pass-coverage bust by Eltoro. Goodness.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Steve- It ain't bending, it's breaking.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Eddie, Slade learned that from Ethridge.

    ReplyDelete

Should have been a late hit

    ReplyDelete
  31. 90 how many yards....

    ReplyDelete
  32. Nice effort there by McFadden...

    ReplyDelete

    More of the same.

Appropriate for Halloween, a date with several associated movies with tons of remakes.

    They all end the same.

    Just like this.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 94 yard touchdown drive. This is just terrible and really tough to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 94 yards given up on D already.

    They made it look easy.

    ReplyDelete
  36. We're amazingly bad at several positions defensively.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well if it stays this way, at least it's over early.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The bad thing is that the defense was fresh then. What about later when it's not.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Don't worry about it gang, just the traditional first drive jitters for or D. Nothing to worry about.

    ReplyDelete
  40. like a hot knife thru butter

    ReplyDelete
  41. So will we get the now traditional 1st drive jitters with 2 strange plays with the wildcat then a punt?

    ReplyDelete
  42. When freeman hits he hits big...when he misse he misses big

    ReplyDelete
  43. On the bright side, the kickoff coverage looked good.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Boy, it would have been nice to recover that fumble on the kickoff

    ReplyDelete
  45. Dear Leader, butter puts up more resistance.

    ReplyDelete
  46. where, oh where, has my ole football team gone???

    Somebody....PLEASE bring them back!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Well they only averaged 9.4 yards per play.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't like the DE twist, by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Kickoffs are looking good for us.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Gonna be a long, long day for the Tigers I'm afraid.

And no tailgating with HOTTIES, to boot. Damn you, HS football.

    ReplyDelete
  51. longest brive by old miss this year... glad we can help

    ReplyDelete
  52. Good field position, what can we do with it from an offensive standpoint?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Jet- the twist that take 5 minutes to execute.

Fannin can't hold the rock, period. That's why he is the player he is.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I could see the way Fannin was holding that ball it was coming out at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wario! And a fumble! Wow!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anonymous11:35 AM

    We get a break

    ReplyDelete
  57. Ben Tate being saved for later?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anonymous11:36 AM

    Then we get a penalty

    ReplyDelete
  59. Positive plays followed by a penalty, hmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Is that lead official Penn Wagers, a.k.a. The Meth Ref?

    ReplyDelete
  61. sit his but down... i

    ReplyDelete
  62. And the penalties start....is this the LSU game?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Third snap ... first penalty.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Anonymous11:37 AM

    No Kodi-Cat yet

    That's a change

    ReplyDelete
  65. For some reason the Chris Todd runs in the past few weeks makes me think that even the coaches are afraid to make him throw.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Anonymous11:38 AM

That took two weeks to get there.

    Sheesh.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Line needs to block...

    ReplyDelete
  68. A small win, Andre? Sheesh.

    ReplyDelete
  69. The line can't pick up the number they sent.

Todd might need to put a little less air under that one.

    ReplyDelete
  70. hey its production... i will take it..

    better than a punt..

    ReplyDelete
  71. Mr. Obvious enters the building ...

A 3 and out would be nice here.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Anonymous11:39 AM

Yeah, points are points, I suppose. But 3 for every 7 of theirs isn't going to cut it.

    ReplyDelete
  73. See if the defense blows a second drive. Offense can't get the ball down the field any longer. It's going to make for long game.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Nice to see some early points. Bad news, defense is coming back onto the field.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Byrum is a big bright spot so far this year.

    ReplyDelete
  76. we need to keep running the kickoff into the endzone and forced fumble play we did on the opening kickoff.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Is this the highest you'eve ever seen the grass at JH? I don't think i've ever seen it that high.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Todd is 12 yards away from passing his total yards from last week.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Eltoro wasn't even hustling to chase down the play.

    Nice cushion on first down.

    ReplyDelete
  80. They are keeping the 9 yards per play thing going.

    ReplyDelete
  81. if el toro can keep dexter in check we may have an opp

    ReplyDelete
  82. I want to like Eltoro, I really do.

But celebrating after you make a tackle for 2 yards like you just stopped them on the goalline late in a 14-10 game doesn't work well.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Anonymous11:44 AM

    Ugh! Just missed

    ReplyDelete
  84. Pass rush ... non-existent.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Thorpe should have made that play.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Now we get to return a punt!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Anonymous11:45 AM

    Ugh! Just missed again.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Anonymous11:45 AM

    A defensive stop.

It's been awhile. Please keep doing that.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Good stop D, but I'd love for them to actually have caught the ball there.

    ReplyDelete
  90. That was Ole Miss' 1st 3rd down of the game.

    ReplyDelete
  91. as always we bring out the best in punters

    ReplyDelete
  92. Anonymous11:46 AM

    ReplyDelete
  94. hey zip on that ball

    ReplyDelete
  95. Anonymous11:47 AM

There we go. Quick hits, quick hits are the way.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Solid start so far by the offense. Maybe we can get some confidence built.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Anonymous11:48 AM

A penalty? On the opponents? Call me shocked!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Anonymous11:48 AM

TZach lost it in the clouds

    ReplyDelete
  99. Week 1-5 that's a TD.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Todd cannot connect deep. Absolutely has no touch any longer.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Can't catch a break.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Anonymous11:49 AM

    3rd career catch by Burns?

    ReplyDelete
  103. Burns with the catch....nice!

    ReplyDelete
  104. WHAT?????????

    A pass to Kodi Burns??

    ReplyDelete
  105. What?

    Kodi runs off balanced?

    ReplyDelete
  106. Anonymous11:50 AM

Todd went Dancin' 'Cross the USA there

    ReplyDelete
  107. that ball was higher than it was farther...

    ReplyDelete
  108. Anonymous11:50 AM

    Lower the shoulder

    ReplyDelete
  109. May I suggest we take tackling lessons from Ole Miss?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Dang Tate...so close, needed the 1st down there.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Good run by Tate, the O looking solid so far.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Anonymous11:51 AM

Third and short and we blow it again?

    ReplyDelete
  113. If we line up with a quick snap, it's always a dive into the line.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Do we not have an I formation QB sneak play at all?

    ReplyDelete
  115. Good god... I HATE RUNNING FROM THE SHOTGUN FROM SHORT YARDAGE PLAYS

    ReplyDelete
  116. Oh, it was the right spot. It was a dreadful play call.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I'm with you on that Eddie.

Practice some I-formation plays for short yardage.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I will never understand when you have inchs to go you use the shotgun and start 4 yards back??

    ReplyDelete
  119. Gus' offense can be a beast, but sometimes I wonder if the other co-coordinator at Tulsa was the in game play caller?

    ReplyDelete
  120. We needed a TD badly right there. THat is going to really hurt in about 4 minutes from now.

    ReplyDelete
  121. The offense is looking quicker today. Really disappointed on that fourth down play, though.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Anonymous11:54 AM

    ReplyDelete
  123. I still think Mario should be our short yardage back. He hits the hole hardest.

    ReplyDelete
  124. By snapping backwards 5 yards, you are giving the defense the one second necessary to get the push it needs. Plus, the back has to wait to start his drive toward the line. It is fatally flawed.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Our D is getting the tackle on players who don't even have the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Zac ain't moving.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Anonymous11:56 AM

    Moment of silence for ZEth

    ReplyDelete
  128. Agreed Jet. We used to have an under center play and I know it was a dive, but a dive is better than that crap we just ran. Should have been running that play on 3rd down. Malzahn is going to have to learn that it just doesn't work very often in this league. The defensive front is way too quick and powerful to do that crap.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I rewound it and Zach dove in after the play was almost over and might have jammed his neck.

    ReplyDelete
  130. This is very scary, i feel terrible for the kid right now

    ReplyDelete
  131. On my DVR ... looks like Zac went head to head with Coleman.

    ReplyDelete
  132. has anyone seen any movement from Z??

    ReplyDelete
  133. The tailback was under Zac most of that time. Weird deal.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Oh my goodness, did you see AC hit Zac...this looks bad my friends, prayers sent

    ReplyDelete
  135. Wow that was good to see.

    ReplyDelete
  136. OK, a thumb's up.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Anonymous12:00 PM

    ZEth gives the thumbs up.

    Good sign.

    Hang in there, man.

    ReplyDelete
  138. movement is good....

    ReplyDelete
  139. Getting chills when he put his finger up

    ReplyDelete
  140. Scary moment there. I've been critical of Ethridge over the years, but you never want to see something like that happen.

    ReplyDelete
  141. we are going to need sneed to make some mistakes...

    ReplyDelete
  142. Those plays blow. Can't stand to see anyone down like that.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Another player out in our secondary, good grief

    ReplyDelete
  144. Ok, that's 3 passes and a fumble we should have had. It ain't our day again.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Anonymous12:03 PM

    ATTN: BATES

DON'T CELEBRATE UNTIL YOU'VE DONE SOMETHING YOU SPAZOID!

    ReplyDelete
  146. Gotta get these.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Third pick we should have had. We need those plays to go our way.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Also on the injury front The Bull is out with an arm injury, supposed to return after getting taped up.

    ReplyDelete
  149. It's a wonder we're not getting blown out when our defense can't tackle and can't catch balls that are practically thrown right to them.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Too many almost TO's today. AU has to make some of these plays to win today.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Anonymous12:04 PM

    THANK YOU SHANKAPOTOMOUS!

    ReplyDelete
  152. If it helps these guys get fired up and play better, they can do the Hokey Pokey for all I care.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Good job there, now let's get down and take the lead.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Dodged a huge bullet there. Thank you ole miss for continuing to try and pass the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Everyone pray for Etheridge. I didn't like the way that looked at all.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Anonymous12:07 PM

There was nothing - nothing - on that pass.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Someone tell me why Trott is out there full time? Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  158. jeez... ct can not do much more on that play

    ReplyDelete
  159. Sensi- That pass had enough on it. Trott didn't make the play. Offense stinks again.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Anonymous12:08 PM

    Living to punt...again

    ReplyDelete
  161. Everyone pray for Etheridge. I didn't like the way that looked at all.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Mr. S ... if there were any more on the pass, would it have made it any more likely that Trott would catch it?

    ReplyDelete
  163. Anonymous12:09 PM

The pass was fine. Trott's play is disappointing. Penalties are killing us. Along with three almost INTs.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Penalties, dropped passes, missed TO's. Ole Miss is trying to keep Auburn in the game by passing the ball, and AU keeps shooting itself in the foot.

    ReplyDelete
  165. That was a good pass to Trott. Just the right amount of umph on it in my opinion.

Todd has played decent thusfar toay.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Anonymous12:11 PM

good morning hotties.. i told the wife, as soon as we didnt get that fumble on the opening ko, it might not be our day. lots of fb to go, but we needed that. also, lets hope the players get good news at the half about Zac, and it fires them up.

    ReplyDelete
  167. they went out of the gun on 4th down cause working under center has worked SO WELL this year.

    tounge planted firmly in cheek

    ReplyDelete
  168. Anonymous12:12 PM

    Feeling and movement for ZEth.

    Good news.

    ReplyDelete
  169. How can you say there was nothing on that pass to Trott?

It lead him perfectly right into those hands of stone.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Anonymous12:12 PM

    Trott drops everything. Nothing new.

I'm just watching the ball wobble woblle out of CTs hands.

    ReplyDelete
  171. We started out very good looking today. Now our offense needs to get the zip back and lord help our d needs to catch those balls that are being thrown to it.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Thank you Nutt for continuing to throw the ball!!!

    ReplyDelete
  173. Make a play, Miss a play: The Eltoro Story

    ReplyDelete
  174. Glad to see the bull back into the game...not glad to see him whiff at that tackle on 2nd down.

    ReplyDelete
  175. The Bull is getting his name mentioned a lot now. It is nice to see.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Anonymous12:13 PM

    GREAT PLAY DEFENSE!

    ReplyDelete
  177. what a hit! our d looks good right now.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Good stick by Stevens.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Sensi- It's not wobbling right now. He is throwing it fine, no touch, but fine enough.

    ReplyDelete

Seeing some tackling today which is nice.
