Malzahn + Nutt doesn't equal BFF

Hey everyone. Sorry for getting a very late start today. So it goes.

Here is another dose of information for your noggin, which surely is overloaded with talk about execution, injuries being ``day-by-day" (even a torn Achilles tendon) and how one missed block can ruin an entire season.

I promise to not mention -- or let anyone else mention -- those topics below.

• Browsing through a transcription of Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt's weekly press conference produced some goodies. Recall that Nutt, while coach at Arkansas in 2006, hired Malzahn out of a nearby high school and installed him as the Razorbacks' offensive coordinator. He stayed for one season.

• Nutt on how Gus Malzahn's offense has changed since those high school days: ``I think the biggest thing is that he saw the caliber of athletes each Saturday. He had a lot of mismatches in high school. When you get to the college level, you realize that there are two or three guys you are going to have to be concerned with because they are so athletic."

• Malzahn indirectly disagreed, saying the only major difference between high school and college ball is recruiting. ``The football on the field -- very similar."

• The two men haven't spoken since the Arkansas days.

• Nutt's take: ``We don’t talk very much. Everybody is so busy in college football. When you get into the season, you have a lot of things to worry about. You have all you can handle with the task at hand."

• Malzahn's take: "I haven't gotten a chance to visit with him since then but he gave me an opportunity to get in the college game."

• Malzahn on what changes now that Nutt, former ally, will be his foe Saturday: ``Anytime you work with someone, you get both sides, you get to know each other and what each other likes and all that. It's part of the game. There's a lot of coaches that worked together that end up playing each other. You've got to just be aware of all the variables and think what they're thinking."

6. You know it's slow when you can get substance on the iPhone and entering all the log on info.

Simple translation for Nutt / Malzahn,s relationship= non-exsistent.

7. I'd be careful if I was attending this game. This could be the day where Mitch Mustain's mom shows up for revenge for her son.

ReplyDelete
8. Non-existent.

Yep.

I love that Nutt pins it on being too busy ... even when it's not football season.

9. Nutt and Tommy Tuberville have the same publicist.

That comment was very Tubervillian.

10. Hey, Nutt's gotta lotta of other friends.

A little textual healing.

Giggity! Giggity! Giggity!

ReplyDelete
11. Nutt hired Gus to get Mitch Mustain, period. Gus took the opportunity and ran with it.

Something tells me Gus has something up his sleeve Saturday.

(I hope.)

ReplyDelete
12. Jet and stupup, I sure hope you guys are right, but I just don't see it happening - not the way they've been playing the past three weeks.

ReplyDelete
13. I am telling you guys, all we need is for Todd to find his Magic Feather. He lost it and thinks he lost his good quarterbacking skills with it. I tried telling him the feather was a fake and the ability to be good was always within him, but he won't believe me. So time for Plan B: find that feather!

14. Michael, is that like Austin Powers losing his mogo in "The Spy Who Shagged Me"? He's really had it all along?

15. Either way, it's on like Donkey Kong on Saturday.

Beat Ole Miss!!

16. I picture Malzahn as a mild mannered geek, but if I made a list of people I think he would refer to a a butthole, Nutt would be high on the list.

17. I have a picture I took in BR that I think some of you guys will enjoy. How can I show it to you?

I haven't been paying attention. Does anyone know if Dyer is still leaning toward AU?

ReplyDelete
25. GT, he certainly seems to be. I haven't heard anything other than that he's pretty much a lock for Auburn. That said, he's only 17 or 18, so who knows.

ReplyDelete
26. I knows, that's who!

Dyer will 100% be an Auburn Tiger.

Ben Tate has 923 rushing yds so far. He should go over 1,000 this week. Seems like a good weekend for Ben to host Lattimore.

28. This may be old news, but I just found out and I am SOOOOO excited!

LA LA GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS!!!!!

Now, if Auburn could just pull out the win on Saturday, my week will be complete!! Oh! And the weather front is moving even slower and it may not rain now until Saturday afternoon.

ReplyDelete
29. It was shameful the way Nutt and his staff treated Malzahn. I hope against all logic that AU can light up the scoreboard Saturday.

Wasn't T Rocker on the staff at Arky during that time period?

SEC Week Nine Previews & Picks

Florida 23, Georgia 19
The Bulldogs got back on track with a win over Vanderbilt two weeks ago and got a much needed week off before the annual showdown with the Florida Gators. Florida’s offense showed some improvement against Mississippi State but is still nowhere near as explosive as it was last season. Everything about this match-up points to advantage Florida, but that week off for Georgia will give the Bulldogs fresh legs and coupled with Florida’s inability to put teams away, this may be more of a game than most expect. In the end, though, superior talent and coaching will win it.

Mississippi State 20, Kentucky 17
Mississippi State has played through a brutal schedule and is probably one of the toughest 3-5 teams in the country. Kentucky has survived its own long road home riddled with injuries though they have emerged with a winning record and a serious chance at a bowl game. The Bulldogs have been close so many times this year and haven’t been able to finish. Eventually, if you are hanging around long enough, the breaks fall your way. They fall for Mississippi State this weekend.

South Carolina 19, Tennessee 17
Tennessee has been very close in some losses this year thanks to a stingy defense. The Volunteers offense has been erratic at best. The same could be said for South Carolina. This has the makings of a close, smashmouth game with both teams fighting for yardage and field position. In the end, South Carolina has enough to get it done and solidify their spot as second in the SEC East.

Ole Miss 27, Auburn 9
The Rebels offense woke up for the first time all season last week as they throttled Arkansas at home. Now Houston Nutt travels to a place where he’s had success (albeit as the Arkansas coach) against Auburn. The Tigers look nothing like the team that reeled off 5 wins to start the year as the offense has been unable to produce anything consistent, hanging a thin defensive unit out to dry in the process. Jevan Snead and Dexter McCluster will have big games as the Rebels are simply a better team than Auburn right now.

Out of Conference Games

Arkansas 34, Eastern Michigan 13
Arkansas got thumped by Ole Miss last week. This week, the Razorbacks take out the frustration on Eastern Michigan.

Georgia Tech 28, Vanderbilt 9
Vanderbilt can’t stop anybody and they can’t score. Georgia Tech isn’t great at stopping teams, but they can bulldoze over defenses left, right and up the middle.

LSU 38, Tulane 3
I hear Tulane has a fine law school. Their football team is no match for LSU at all.

ReplyDelete
46. Cool Eddie. Enjoy them while they are young.

Anyone been hearing about Tyrik on his facebook. Keeps posting that maybe its time for him to play.. Maybe just joking cause I can't see them taking the redshirt off him at this stage.

ReplyDelete
47. Sense. You are so wrong. AU will score at least 10.

ReplyDelete
48. Sponge- Will do.

As far as Tyrik goes, i've been hearing about all the updates. I believe he is just playing with people. They are very vague and implying, but I think its just him playing. I would be shocked if his redshirt was pulled right now.

49. I'm out for the night. Getting ready to catch the season premire of Friday Night Lights. Can't wait. Later peeps!

ReplyDelete
50. Can't really disagree with any of those picks although I do think the Ole Miss/Auburn game will be closer than what you have.

ReplyDelete
51. Anonymous8:31 PM

Fair enough. Why do you think that, FSJ?

ReplyDelete
52. Anonymous8:32 PM

I just think McCluster is a match-up problem for Auburn on defense. Snead - I'm not that impressed.

ReplyDelete
53. Anonymous8:37 PM

Sensi....those picks look about right. Nice writeups.

ReplyDelete
54. Anonymous8:40 PM

In the Pickum this week, the OSU game at a 44 point spread is driving me crazy. It's basically up to The Vest to score as much as he wants to.

GT is a bit of a wild card also. They'll beat Vandy, by how much depends on how they show up.

ReplyDelete
55. No real reason Sensi except I think Auburn will score a few more points. I think Ole Miss wins though.

ReplyDelete
56. Anonymous8:42 PM

Thanks for reading.

ReplyDelete
57. Got an early read on the Bama/LSU game?

I think it will be a HUGE...HUGE game.

ReplyDelete
58. Anonymous8:51 PM

Sensi..thanks for the info on LaLa. we live in Ga and had no idea all that was going on. My daughter has been considering going to UAB for Nurse Practitioner school. A close friend warned against her going there because of "issues" in downtown Bham.

ReplyDelete
59. Anonymous8:52 PM

FSJ - I'll have a big write-up on that early next week.

Hoopie - a good friend's son was a football player at UAB (nice kid) and was car jacked one block from campus one night. During the day, it's fine. After hours, not so much. Quite a shame because the school is excellent.

ReplyDelete
60. Finebaum was playing "Jailhouse Rock" as bumper music after the verdict came down.

ReplyDelete
61. Anonymous8:54 PM

FSJ....Bama will be rested. LSU won't be tired, but it will be a fresh Bama team that takes care of LSU. Bama will probably beat LSU worse than the score indicates.

FSJ...I'm sure you realize that I don't like admitting this.

ReplyDelete
62. Anonymous8:59 PM

Sensi....Bummer for your friends kid, I hope he is OK. My friend also said that nitetime was the big problem and many of the classes are at night.

This daddy don't want his daughter in parking garages at night down there.

ReplyDelete
63. Anonymous9:00 PM

I still say Alabama has the potential to be the most complete team out there this year, but they've got to solve the equations on offense during this off-week.

ReplyDelete
64. Anonymous9:01 PM

I'm sure she knows this, but if your daughter is looking for schools, I recommend Petersons.com as a guide for searching.

Quan, my friend's son, is doing well after transferring to MTSU.

ReplyDelete
65. Good picks Mr. S., except I think the UKats find a way to win against MSU, and GA Tech will beat Vandy by a far wider margin. Say 30+ points.

ReplyDelete
66. Florida and Bama have interchangeable problems on offense. They both run the ball well, but Florida has a quarterback but not very many playmakers to get the ball to. Bama doesn't have a QB (right now), but has at least one (potential) playmaker.

Both are phenomenal on defense. Special teams is about a push. I still say Tebow is the difference if these two teams play in Atlanta, which isn't as for sure to me as it is to others.

ReplyDelete
67. BTW, just got around to watching the Tuesday interviews, and whomever it was who said Eltoro looks like Bo at that age - good catch.

If only he was as big and fast.

68. Mr. S, your picks are correct save one.

Auburn 28, Giggity 20

70. I heard somewhere today that Saban is 11-10 after a bye week. That sounds like too many games, but just sayin'.

ReplyDelete
71. Interesting stat comparison for this week:

TD passes thrown by Chris Todd AND Greg McElroy in their last 3 games combined: 0

ReplyDelete

101. Good Morning Hotties!!!!!

It's almost Friday. Can't wait till Halloween!

ReplyDelete
102. Morning everyone.

So what's on the HABOTN agenda for today?

ReplyDelete
103. RK- Every day till game day gets more positive and more confidence until Saturday, then you hit reset and start over...

ReplyDelete
104. "Each day is better than the next"

ReplyDelete
105. Well I would like to think that Friday will not be better than Saturday, but who knows. But as far as Auburn football goes, I think that would be a general aggreement about our season.

ReplyDelete
106. This weekend just depends on who shows up. Which Ole Miss, Houston Nutt and Jevon Snead...and which Chris Todd.

Our offense can't be worse than last week, so hopefully we'll get some improvement.

ReplyDelete
107. RK- Everytime I have ever said the offense cannot get worse it comes back to bit me. Be careful when saying those words.

ReplyDelete
108. Morning Scottie B...you need to have the great pumpkin in your avatar since you live in Knoxville and i'm talking about Fulmer :)

ReplyDelete
109. Goooooooood Morning!

ReplyDelete
110. Our offense can DEFINITELY be worse than it was last week.

Ask Faker, he saw it last year in person.

Not saying this staff is capable of that kind of performance, but there is recent historical precedent.

ReplyDelete
111. Exactly Freep. I prefer to just think and hope we can improve but always understand that we are always standing on a false bottom that could give way at any moment.

ReplyDelete
112. just saw this on ESPN.com:

Running backs
Michael Dyer (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Christian Academy)
Star: five | Scouts grade: 86
ESPNU 150 rank (position rank): 6 (1)
Five-star running back Michael Dyer set the Arkansas career rushing record Saturday night by surpassing the previous high total of 7,122 yards. Dyer scored five touchdowns and rushed for 175 yards on 18 carries in Little Rock Christian's victory over Lakeside (Hot Springs, Ark.), according to Arkansas360Sports.com.

ReplyDelete
113. I'm hoping against hope that we come out running a fast-paced offense and that we can get the ball down the field, maybe even score some points, in the first quarter.

Otherwise, if our first 3 possessions resemble the first 3 possessions in our last 3 games, I will want to see Neil Caudle under center to start the 4th drive.

There comes a time when a player's 'confidence' can't possibly be restored by continuing to run him out there and watching him fail to get the job done. I think even Chris Todd would agree.

Todd's done a terrific job getting himself back into playing shape after surgery, and has given me a lot of optimism for what our offense can be in the future. However, this isn't baseball, where a starter can pitch his way out of a slump. In this sport, 3 bad starts isn't just a slump - it's 25% of your entire season.

ReplyDelete
114. Morning Hots!

Should we be concerned that the staff has just now figured out that Fannin should get more carries at the RB spot?

ReplyDelete
115. Scottie B. Dyer is the truth!

ReplyDelete
116. Does anybody really know how to use Fannin??? He has to be the hardest Auburn player I've ever seen in getting Coaches to figure how to use him. It just baffles me.

ReplyDelete
117. Anonymous8:49 AM

How does Rod get to go to practice and beat reporters don't?

ReplyDelete
118. Now for some optimism: I looked at this team just before opening week and figured we'd be 5-3 at best right now.

I thought we'd lose to WV, split UT/Arky, beat UK and lose to LSU. So in a sense we are right where I thought we'd be, record wise.

I figured we end up 6-6 and slip into a minor bowl. I also assumed 7-5 was possible with an upset of either Ole Miss or UGa. That goal is still within our reach, if we can just get some points on the board.

Either way, all we have to do is beat Furman for us to be able to say we have improved from last year, despite obvious talent deficiencies. And those extra three weeks of bowl practice will be a major benefit for 2010.

OK, so maybe 'optimism' is too strong a word. Just call me a cockeyed pessimist.

ReplyDelete
119. This comment has been removed by the author.

ReplyDelete
120. Sensi- When you sign your oath to be a Sunshine Pumper and seal it Harry Potter style, then you are good to attend practice.

ReplyDelete
121. so, are you saying Rod has a magic wand or an owl that can sign documents? i'm confused.

ReplyDelete
122. Freep- It could have been worse, you could have been some of those that thought this team would go 10-2 or better and now are totally disappointed. 7-5 was always going to be a very good record for this team IMO. I've said it previous and I'll maintain that it would be nice to show improvement from week to week more than wins and losses.

ReplyDelete
123. Scottie B- In Harry Potter, there is a term "Unbreakable Vow" where as two wizards make a vow and if the wizards break such vow they will die. It's sad I know these things. Maybe that will clear it up.

ReplyDelete
124. Speaking of Random Thoughts, this morning I was wondering whatever happened to the Chaz Ramsey case? What is going on there?

ReplyDelete
125. ah, gotcha Eddie. that's from the newest movie, right? i haven't read the books. ha.

ReplyDelete
126. Yeah Scottie. I haven't read the books either, but intend to read them to my daughters at the appropriate age.

ReplyDelete
127. Eddie, I was also hoping to show improvement from week to week - a trait even some of Tubs' best teams lacked (2006 is a good example).

But I also knew that (extremely limited depth + weaker opponents early in the season + 11 straight games without a bye) = (fatigue + injuries + sloppiness + poor execution).

Not a formula for getting better as the season progresses.

ReplyDelete
128. I'll admit at 5-0 and even 5-1 I felt we had a 9 win season coming.

At that point, I thought the Ark game was probably a fluke and we just got rolling too late.

At that point there was no sign that the offense had died an early death.

ReplyDelete
129. Sensi,

Why the return to the full "Mr. Senisible" moniker?

ReplyDelete
130. It's not our record that is freaking everyone out. It's going from a team that offensively looked well put together to one that looks clueless. I could be ok with another 5-7 season if the losses came to opponents that were better than us AND we were making progress as a team. The opposite has been true.

The bright side is that the defense looks better and we know if the offense gets back on track, we could at least make things uncomfortable for OM, UGA, and bama. Maybe even shock the world in Nov.

ReplyDelete
131. Morning Hotties!

Hopefully by now the condo is officially yours Cincy....Congrats!!

It's great to be an Auburn Tiger!

ReplyDelete
132. Big Cat,

I agree, that's the hardest part of this year was how effective the offense was and for it to just stop immediately.

I know there were comments from people that we weren't supposed to win more than 6-8 games this year, but after that start it seemed like we might be on to something that could result in something bigger than the predictions.

ReplyDelete
133. Had we beaten Kentucky then lost to LSU I don't think people would be as upset...but the unexpected loss at home to Kentucky, especially considering their situation coming in is the one that is still hard to swallow.

134. I like the optimism Bigcat.

Freep- I agree with you, but I still believe the offense fell off the cliff due to bad QB play (NOT TRYING TO SINGLE CHRIS TODD OUT)! It's harder to tell when you are not at the games. The Arkansas game looked like we had open receivers and we for sure had one early in the game that was missed. The UK game had a bunch of open WR's. From what i'm being told about LSU, we didn't have a lot of open WR's. I think this offense is totally centered around the QB spot, especially with the way Gus likes to call plays. He probably needs to commit more to the run than he previously has these last 3 games and then try to open up the passing game. I also believe that Gus needs a more mobile QB that can make plays with his feet when the pocket collapses and everyone is covered. Todd just doesn't have that skill IMO. I don't want a QB that runs first, but one that runs when forced to. Since the offense fell off so quickly, I believe it could possibly be back that much quickly also. It needs more of an oil change than an overhaul IMO. We shall see.

135. I will say this ... I concur with Freep ... this is all about Kentucky. Not much shame in losing an 11 a.m. game on the road after winning on the road week before. Happens to "good teams" all the time.

This team was not ready to win in Baton Rouge, period. None of us liked the whipping we took. But where this team is in its journey, it wasn't ready and probably wouldn't have been had we been undefeated.

Kentucky is the problem game to me, but I explain to the wild mood swings of teams not experienced at winning. Only a handful of our players understand winning.

I say our mood swings back the other way Saturday.

136. Thump thump does this thread have a heart beat??
Morning Hotties may the great pumpkin come out of the pumpking patch and bring us all good tiddings and a Damn Victory over Ole Mythe.

137. Eddie I think Trooper would agree with you. Did you see this quote from Andy Bitter's blog? Sounds like he is talking about a QB issue perhaps:

Taylor said the wide receivers' problems haven't been an inability to get off of press coverage. "For my guys, I think we have to make plays when we get an opportunity to," he said. "When it’s close we’ve got to go make that play regardless."

138. How many passes got thrown to a WR against LSU?

I know it wasn't many.

ReplyDelete
139. Jet, I hope you're right.

Knowing that Dr Giggles is on the other sideline gives me cause for optimism.

That and the fact that, in the final analysis, they are still Ole Miss.

We absolutely HAVE to get out to a fast start on offense, though.

140. OK fellow HOTTIEs - I'm out til Puppet Hour.

Keep the faith.

One HABOTN.

ReplyDelete
141. Thanks Bigcat, I hadn't seen that quote. That could be seen as suggesting a lack of opportunities due to QB play. When you really look at this team, the whole team boils down to one player..The defense is as good as the offense and the offense is as good as the QB. That is a scary position to be in, because QB's have good games and bad games and it becomes almost impossible to win if the QB has a bad game.

ReplyDelete
142. Glad the coaches read HABOTN and are finally going to take my advice of serveral weeks ago, play Fannin in FAH's position until FAH can heal his ankle. I thougt this was a natural move at least 2 games ago. Now if they can just teach this team what a penalty is and how to avoid them we will be ready to go.

ReplyDelete
143. So what is the over/under number on penalties for us this week?

ReplyDelete
144. I still say that w/o some incredible penalties, we still could have beat Kentucky even with the way Todd was playing. What's done is done, though.

ReplyDelete
145. Lot of people have been hung up on Caudle's relief performance, but Mario did a nice job of running the ball against LSU on Saturday.

ReplyDelete
146. I know the back up QB is always the most popular person on campus when a QB struggles, but what Caudle did late in a game that was already over really doesn't matter that much but to maybe build his confidence which has been trampled on over the years.

ReplyDelete
147. Bro- Maybe, but if UK had run the Wildcat more it could have been worse. The what if game can take you most anywhere.

ReplyDelete
148. What if Hitler hadn't delayed his invasion of Russia in 1941 and made it to Moscow before the muddy roads and winter set in? Think about that.

ReplyDelete
149. What if the South had won?

ReplyDelete
150. What if we never fumbled, threw an interception or had a penalty.
We would win all the games by at least 100 and would it would be so boring.

ReplyDelete
151. We'd live in a pretty backward country right now.

ReplyDelete
152. Anybody think Georgia beats Florida this weekend? I've got this sneaking suspicion...

ReplyDelete
153. I have the same feeling but Florida seems to have the mojo on Georgia that will be hard to overcome.

ReplyDelete
154. Eddie,

With Ole Miss coming to town, I wouldn't mention that the South didn't win, thems fightin' words to some of those guys.

155. what if Neo had taken the blue pill instead of the red pill? :)

156. Because I am a mama and have not heard any details, I must ask this question:

Which two of Kodi's teeth were knocked out and what was done about it?

I bet his mama wasn't happy....

ReplyDelete
157. Excellent hypothetical Scottie.

ReplyDelete
158. I don't want to think about losing teeth. I just had my normal cleaning yesterday and would hate to think of the pain of losing teeth and have to have implants.

ReplyDelete
159. It's not so bad...

ReplyDelete
160. That's right, you would know....it just sucks after a rought night when you have to find your tooth in a toilet :)!

ReplyDelete
161. Does anybody know at what row the east and west stands are covered by the upper deck? Trying to figure out how high I've gotta get to stay dry Saturday.

ReplyDelete
162. DRY? Get out there and get soaked! Just bring a change of clothes with ya.

ReplyDelete
163. Eddie, you know I agree with you that the primary difference between our team now and the first 5 games is Todd. He hasn't been the same since getting hurt against TN. I thought his performance against TN was the best by an AU qb in several years; he hasn't been the same guy after getting hurt.

If he hadn't been hurt, we had a chance against ARK, but probably would have lost anyway. They were ready for us. We would have beaten KY easily, and still got killed against LSU. If everything had gone just right, we could have been 7-1 right now. It didn't, but I don't really have any less confidence in our coaches than I did before the losses.

ReplyDelete
164. Sean, I could do that, and have many times. Sat thru the tornado at Legion Field in 1983.

My wife is a different story. If Mama ain't happy, I won't be happy.

ReplyDelete
165. Me neither Coosa....I just don't always understand their reasoning, but at the same time, i'm probably not supposed to.

ReplyDelete
166. I've always thought that Fanin is a tailback and that its a mistake to try to make him into a receiver. He looked every bit as good as Cadillac in the GA game last year.

If Tubs would have played him the last 2 drives in that game, he would still be the coach today.

ReplyDelete
167. Coosa,

I agree 100% on your assessment of Fanin 100% and I also wondered why they did not continue to utilize him late in the Georgia game last year as well.

ReplyDelete
168. Eddie said...
What if the South had won?

I do NOT even want to think about that!

ReplyDelete
169. Luv- Me neither just like I didn't want to possibly think of what Hitler could have done. Both happened for reasons. Trying to understand why it happened is the fun part.

ReplyDelete
170. I still think that FAH's injury played a big part in our offensive fallof as well as Todd's apparent injury and succeeding lack of 100% play. I think that losing FAH hurt in that Gus could not utilize a lot of his misdirection in the offense. Maybe putting Fannin in for FAH and letting him do the same thing in his place would have helped.

ReplyDelete
171. I think one more issue become a part of the fan disappointment after starting 5 and 0 and then losing 3 in a row the way we did and that is looking at Bama's success and thinking, "that could have been us with good recruiting the last 3 Tubberville years".

ReplyDelete
172. become = became. Sorry about that.

ReplyDelete
173. Thanks IV, almost forgot....FU Tuberville!!!!!!!!

Please Auburn, win this weekend so I can stop this bashing!

ReplyDelete
174. Eddie, just go ahead and quit anyway. I agree with you, but it isn't changing a thing. Let Tubberville go, he is history just like Bowden, Barfield and Earl Brown.

ReplyDelete
175. I am out for a spell.

ReplyDelete
176. IV- Good enough for me. I'll honor your request. BTW, nice Earl Brown reference.

ReplyDelete
177. Earl Brown, his 1950 team was the stuff of legend. he REALLY missed Travelin' Travis Tidwell. :)

ReplyDelete
178. Scottie B- That 1950 has to be the worst team in Auburn History.

Of course those are the days that you had to have a head coach that graduated from Notre Dame. That was the thing to do.

ReplyDelete
179. i would have to agree Eddie. 1950, not a good year for the Tigers. however, a young Ralph 'Shug' Jordan came shortly thereafter. i guess it wasn't such a bad thing after all.

ReplyDelete
180. Ah, the 1950 Auburn. . .err, API Tigers.

My dad could tell you some "Dumb Dudley" stories.
