Morning Reader: 11/13

Hey everyone. Thanks to the night shift for participating in the Q-and-A session last night.

We had something like 196 participants, which isn't bad considering I didn't promote it all that well. So it goes.

Thanks to Peter, RK, Jetarsky and Kathy for going the distance.

    TODAY'S HAPPENINGS:
  • RADIO APPEARANCE @ 9:05 a.m. CST ... check it: Hatin' with Jay G.
  • I'll be covering the epic Wetumpka-Auburn High Class 6A Playoff showdown tonight. After that, I'll be headed to Athens, Ga., to rest my head. Still, I'll release the Official HABOTN Game Preview® at noon today.

Wifey didn't recognize Rodman? Wow. I want her. How much for your womenz?

You tell her Jay G is really a leggo?

    ReplyDelete
  3. So, Jay G, are we meeting up for icewaters when you get to Athens late tonight/early tomorrow, or is I's gonna have to track ya down manana? :-P

My fellow Blogcritic, Josh Hathaway, and I take a 3 and 3 approach to the Auburn-Georgia game and then make picks.

To keep from being a homer, I presented what I thought were Georgia's best chances to win and then made a pick.

My pick: Auburn 30, Georgia 28

    Enjoy!

I'm keeping those sucker MCs at bay, Scottieus.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I love Sensi's sensible pick!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm so jealous of all of you getting to make the trip to Athens. The 1984 AU-FSU game is the only away game I've ever attended. It was a fabulous game - not sure I could top it. I will be watching for all of you on TV!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Jay, made a pick yet? Sorry, haven't been around a computer most of the week to follow along...

    ReplyDelete

    Thanks, Cincy.

It's my first trip to Athens.

  16. Sensi, you really need to get there tonight and wonder around downtown. :-)

Wish I could, Peter. However, my first Friday night free this football season will be spent watching more high school football. I have a pass into the games from working at WTLS. Might as well use it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Sorry I missed the fun last night. I caught up with an old friend I haven't seen in many years so the night was almost as fun as a HABOTN Q&A session.

I must say that I'm somewhat surprised by the lack of reaction from UGA fans to my AU decorated patch. I take that to mean that they're afraid. They're very afraid.

    Keep Hate Alive

  19. Sensi, couldn't you find something more exciting? Come on.

  22. Good Morning Hotties..

I'm scared to death of this weekend's game in Starkville..

    Weird stuff happens there.

As for Auburn...they are gonna bring the pain to UGA.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Fsj I was telling some friends bama better be careful in Starkville, but I think yall will pull it out but less than a 10 point game

    ReplyDelete
  24. Morning Hotties!!!!!

    Hate Georgia!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Great read there Sensi - you guys did a nice job.

    The LT Prediction:

    AU-32
    GA-20

The game will not be in doubt from the opening kick-off on.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Starkville dogs will get pounded.

The rest of my SEC Picks this week.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yes they do Sensi......

    ReplyDelete
  32. Brandon Boykin is sick. They've been putting Prince Miller back there lately, though, so maybe it won't be a big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  33. That Boykin kid is an athletic freak. Nobody be suprised if he takes one back 100 yards

    ReplyDelete
  34. All you supah DJs who think you're fly, there's got to be a reason, and we know the reason why. You try to put on airs and act real cool, but everybody knows that you're actin' like fools.

    Bad weekend for Dogs.

  35. Anonymous8:47 AM

Do any of you think Georgia tries one of the "alternate uniform options" in this game?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sensi- No way unless Richt wants someone to fire him.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think they are done with the alternative uniforms for awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  38. How has Alti-Uni's worked out for'em? What are they 1 out of 3? Though that 1 was us.

If CMR wants keep his job, he better come out in the tried and true red hats, red uni's and silver britches.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think Richt is safe for next year.

He'll fire Willie Martinez to buy himself some time.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Okay, throw me some stones or Zeppelin requests.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Logan- They are 2 out of 4 in Alt Uni's.

They beat Hawaii and us and got blown out by Bama and Florida.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yeah, alternative unis are done for at least a decade at UGA.

    ReplyDelete
  43. John Denver!!!!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ah - forgot about Hawaii Eddie....

I get the same - Station Off Air

    ReplyDelete
  48. J.Kev,

For Zep, I would say "When The Levee Breaks" or "The Ocean".

For the Stones I'll go with "Honky Tonk Women" or "Dead Flowers".

    ReplyDelete
  49. Steve Miller Band- Dance Dance Dance

    ReplyDelete
  50. we'll get it fixed before the start of the segment.

    ReplyDelete
  51. JKEV, a slip-up of this proportion could cost you the Hottie audience. We're a volatile folk.

    ReplyDelete
  52. volatile....i like it PF.

    ReplyDelete
  53. it's up. Good quick work, JKEV

    ReplyDelete
  54. JKEV, station still off the air

    ReplyDelete
  55. BTW- Trovon Reed set to announce in about 50 minutes. Should be a good day for Auburn again!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anonymous9:11 AM

JKev, can I get some Whiskeytown today? "Crazy" perhaps?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous9:11 AM

If not, I'll settle for "Tumbling Dice."

    ReplyDelete
  58. Can I have some Georgia on My Mind with Hate plaese.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I swear up and down the Cotton doesn't want Auburn!!!!!

I want a Florida Bowl or Atlanta!

    ReplyDelete
  60. too much football talk...what happened to this segment?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Trovon Reed #1 player in state of LA #37 overall in the nation to commit soon

    ReplyDelete
  62. There was Call of Duty chatter.

    ReplyDelete
  63. YOU AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT A HOUND DOG....CRYING ALL THE TIME.

    ReplyDelete
  65. HOTTIES to Trovon Reed:

    MAKE THE COMMITMENT

    ReplyDelete
  66. The corporate office has deemed Hatin' With Jay G. inappropriate for our busisnees environment. I'd have some inappropriate words for my corporate office, but I needs the job.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Anonymous9:17 AM

Wonder what Les Miles thinks of that commitment?

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm on a quarterly meeting conference call, so I'll have to catch the replay.

    Hopefully it'll be up today.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Per Tony Barnhart of the AJC:

Auburn at Georgia: Georgia gets back to basics behind running back Washaun Ealey, who looks more and more like the answer at tailback. The Bulldogs control the ball and limit the possessions of the Auburn offense. If Georgia can’t run the ball against the SEC’s No. 10 rushing defense, then the Bulldogs are in big trouble. Georgia 24, Auburn 17.

    What is he smoking?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Scottie,

As long as nobody thanks Elvis actually wrote that song, then I'm ok with the quote.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Jay G,

You're wrong. It may be practiced a little less than it should be, but living outside of a region with as many southern people, I think Southern Hospitality is alive and well and very under-rated...

Ordinary day to day respect is part of that. Sup.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Good morning and Happy Friday the 13th. For those who pay attention to such things today is the third Friday the 13th this year. Which is the most you can have in one year. Trivia stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anonymous9:24 AM

"It's not fun and it's not easy when you get fired."

    No duh, Tommy West.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Did Elvis actually personally write ANYTHING he did? I don't think so but I could be wrong. It's happened before.

    Keep Hate Alive.

    ReplyDelete

Urban Meyer to Notre Dame=Bammer Dream

    ReplyDelete
  76. Anonymous9:26 AM

    He wrote a few, Norm.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Jay G- You don't know many Georgia fans then, sorry, level headed is not in their description. I spewed my diet coke when you said that.

    ReplyDelete
  78. The ones I know are reasonable, Edward.

And we're comparing them to Alabama (seriously?), LSU (seriously?) ...

    ReplyDelete
  79. Georgia Fans are out for blood right now and Richt is not out of the equation right now. If they tank it and don't make a bowl, you may be saying bye bye to Coach Richt.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Alabama fans are so reasonable. You're right. They don't count mythical NCs. Never. Not once.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Eddie, you know too many crackhead UGA fans who didn't finish high school. They exist, I assure you. They want to win as much as the next guy, but it's not like they dream up national championships or anything.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Eddie, you remember Tubs got fired last year, right?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Yea. They're not expecting BCS bowls every year like some people.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Jay G- I am. They think they are going to win the championship just about every darn year. They are furious over this season right now. Trust me, I live here, I work with them,I have a boss who is one of them and they are unrealistic in expectations every single year. Last year pissed them off and this year is just rough and has several ready to revolt on the whole coaching staff, especially since they wanted Martinez gone. The only one preaching patience is Tony Barnhart. Even the AJC seems to be flaming the fires here.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Eddie,

Agreed, CMR is in trouble. UGA fans will support their team ONLY when winning. I'll say this for the bammers, they still wear their colors and fly their flags after they lose the IB.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Scottieus with the clutch performance!!! Thanks!!!

I was chatting with 2.0. Her cap arrived yesterday, btw. THANKS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Eddie - I must say that easily 90% of the UGA fans I know are level-headed and reasonable and 100% are actual graduates of the school. The few who are not completely level-headed are coworkers and fun to mess with from time to time. But, I haven't been in this state as long as you have and I refuse to listen to the local sports talk shows here. So, my perspective may not be as broad as yours.

    ReplyDelete
  88. No Eddie - that's not happening this year. Richt still has the Fire the Assistants and Get New Blood In card yet to play. That would buy him a couple of years. But you can only play that card about once every 7 or so years.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Jay G- I know a handful that thought that they had a good chance to knockoff Florida and make it to at least the Sugar Bowl this season. They all insisted that they were going to be better even though they lost Moreno and Stafford. If that isn't absurd, I don't know what is.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I have to agree about Martinez. Too much talent for the defense to be performing that way. I just don't see them any different than Auburn. Auburn fans wanted championships. Tubs gave us 6 in a row of the thing we claim to want worse than anything, lost one and lost his job. Obviously, the situation at UGA isn't that much different, but their fan base is crazy? I doubt it.

At any rate, I hope we help Martinez out the door by scoring 80 on them this week. Burn the Bulldoggies.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Norm,

Elvis wrote a few songs, but the vast majority were written for him.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Logan- If Richt losses every game from here on out, I don't think he is the Coach next year. Damon Evans won't even come out and give a vote of confidence that he will be back next season. They are going to "discuss" the future vision at the end of the season and see if their goals are inline with each other.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Anonymous9:36 AM

Didn't Tommy West teach us that negativity ruins things?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Richt has had 2x's the career at UGA than Tub had here.

So he'll get a chance to fix the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  95. It's not like I live in Serbia.

There are UGA people here as well. The ones I know are not crazy.

I mean, there are Eastern Michigan fans who expect 12-0 every year. Right?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Directional Michigan has fans?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Anyway. Bye Hotties. Have a good weekend. If you have my number and will be in Athens, call me. If you don't, find me.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Anonymous9:40 AM

I wish I could be as openly optimistic as a large portion of the Bama nation is. It would be great to actually convince myself that "my team" was the biggest, baddest, and best team on the field every week, every year.

I covet that like Notre Dame covets attention.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I'm not saying that every fan is unrealistic. Every fan base has their realistic fans and their crazies. I would put money on UGA having way more crazies that did not attend the university than realistic fans. Say what you want, the crazies make the noise and get what they want. They wanted Martinez gone last year in a huge way. Richt told them to go F themselves essentially. Keeping Martinez after last season is the main reason that Richt is potentially on the chopping block if he doesn't make a bowl game. If he wins 1, he will be back, if he doesn't, I say he won't.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Every time I hear "reasonable fan", I think of King Triton's speech to Ariel when he finds her stash of human stuff. He says, "I consider myself a reasonable man" in a really cryptic way.

Anyway, I definitely have two daughters under 5.

    ReplyDelete
  101. MJT will be making a very important announcement today at 9:48.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I'm on pins and needles for the upcoming MJT announcement.

    ReplyDelete
  103. will MJT be live-blogging this important announcement?

    ReplyDelete
  104. I agree with Eddie; unrealistic fans really annoy me. And so do homers. Everyone should be more like Sensi.

My biggest worry right now is how many points we can put up on uat without knocking them completely out of the BCS picture, thereby knocking ourselves out of the Capital One Bowl. I really want us to make that one so Eddie can visit Disney World again.

The charts right now are pointing to us scoring at least 70, but that could change after the GA game.

But maybe we would be ok if our defense allows uat to also score a bunch of points, and the voters just see it as a shootout instead of a massacre. So maybe 70-56, and uat is still considered BCS worthy after the lose to FL? I'm thinking if its 70-20, they are out.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Anonymous9:52 AM

    Coosa, thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Georgia will win at least one more game. Just hope it isn't this weekend, War Eagle Go tigers.
Mark did not help himself when he did ot fire the DC but he will be back next year.

    ReplyDelete
  107. which time zone, MJT? a.m.? p.m.?

    ReplyDelete
  108. We are sorry to inform everyone that MJT has had a change of heart. The announcement will now be made at 10:20 am.

    ReplyDelete
  109. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  110. MJT has been getting his crap together, and the announcement time has been moved up to 10:18 am.

    ReplyDelete
  111. are all the networks aware of the time change?

    ReplyDelete
  112. 15 minutes until Trovon commits. This should give us the #1 player from the state of LA along side with our #1 player from AR.
Experts say its between us and the ducks. And the higher informed experts say Trovon will be a Troop product.

    ReplyDelete
  113. We also have the number one player in MS I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  114. yeah, I think Shon Coleman is the #1 in Mississippi

    ReplyDelete
  115. lots of orange and blue in the crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I have stomach issues currently. The announcement has been delayed until this afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  117. MJT - the stomach issues are a direct result of your continual delaying of said announcement. Fish or cut bait.

    ReplyDelete
  118. maybe MJT should give up fishing altogether. Could be the smell of the fish and/or bait giving him the stomach troubles.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Do they cut bait in Eurasia? I'm not sure its allowed there.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Trovon Reed is now on board.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Reed to AU per rivals!!!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Reed is a very nice pickup!!!! I'm very pleased with this!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Nice...How much?

    ReplyDelete
  124. War Eagle!

    Beat Georgia!

    ReplyDelete
  125. 21 commits. under a dangerous assumption that we sign them all, anyone have idea if any of the current commits are likely NOT to qualify? If they all stick and qualify, that leaves 4 spots, unless some enroll early.

    ReplyDelete
  126. We are supposedly going to sign 5 against last years class, so the number of commits will likely be over 30.

    ReplyDelete
  127. anybody that follows this stuff a bit more closely than myself know if we're a strong possibility for WR Darius White out of TX. We already have three 4 star or better WR, but adding White would make this the strongest crop of WR recruits going to one school that I can remember!

    ReplyDelete
  128. I am pretty shocked we are getting Trovon Reed. I don't think it means we get Seastrunk, but it makes the odds better. We may have a shot at him or Lattimore.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I think the stock report should show Trooper trending higher with his recruiting efforts.

    ReplyDelete
