Other Chizik chatter from Sunday

Hey everyone. Now that you know about Zac Etheridge's situation, let's look at a few other points.

  • On the behavior of Rodney Scott, the Ole Miss tailback who was pinned under Etheridge: ``I don't know how he knew. He knew (Etheridge) couldn't move. He sat as still as the night lying right underneath him. It was one of the most phenomenal things I've witnessed in doing this."

  • On Onterio McCalebb not playing against Ole Miss: ``We've got to get him healthy, 100 percent. He's not that same guy without that speed -- being able to make those quick cuts. We decided it would be best to rest him."

  • On why Auburn's pass rush was so much better Saturday: ``You're seeing Antoine Carter play better as the weeks go on. He's getting closer to where he was when he left off last spring. You're seeing Antonio Coleman play with two hands now. You're seeing him be more of what he was before he did that to his hand. It's really nice to see him getting some pressure. Even the inside guys -- they're getting some push up front that's critical to the rush."

  • On Eltoro Freeman's play: ``He was productive. As the weeks continue to go and him being consistent in practice, he's going get better. He's active. He's going to show up. He'll get more comfortable … but I'm pleased."

  1. Did you see that TD play by the packers. Those three DBs running into each other looked like the Three Stooges!

  2. Kathy,
So happy to finally get to meet you and your sister! You are the only one who found me.

    ReplyDelete
  3. yaaa everybody lets boo a hall of fame legend that holds every single record possible for a qb, and he is 40 and sculpting our defense up, idiots

    ReplyDelete
  4. Glad I was able to find and meet you Cincy and your family. I could not find any other Hotties. Your dogs are precious!

I know AC has to be feeling bad too. It was just an accident, two players going in for the tackle.

Spikes intentionally poking that guy's eyes, now that is senseless and warrants a suspension.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Scott not moving was very classy. He knew something was wrong. It was very considerate of him and consistent with how I believe these players view each other. Each of them realize that they could have been Etheridge.

    ReplyDelete
  6. We should rest Onterio McCalebb next week too. Surely we can beat Furman without him.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Glad to hear Etheridge will be ok. I hope he will be able to return next year.

    ReplyDelete
  8. We should keep resting McCalebb until bama game if he needs it IMO. Like Chizik said, he is not the same player without his quick cuts and speed burst which he doesn't have with out it.

  9. Packers starting to make a game out of this after being down 24-3.

    ReplyDelete
  10. It's a good one in Green Bay. Vikings 24- Packers 20.

    ReplyDelete
  11. i think spike should be tossed...forever...

Throwing a punch gets you tossed... and that can be a reaction.

the intentional attempt to hurt someone, in the eyes no less, is not deserving

    ReplyDelete
  12. 31-20 Vikings...still a good game. Almost the full 4th quarter to go.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 31-26 Vikings now..seriously, this is good :)!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Is it good, Eddie?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Nah, it stinks. I wouldn't waste my time.

    ReplyDelete
  16. How bout those Titans? Told y'all (or maybe just Sean) that the Titans and Auburn would have a renaissance this weekend. Proof's in the pudding.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Packers within' striking distance. Jhag, if I were a Packer fan, I'd boo Brett.

    ReplyDelete
  18. E-bro, you were right! I'm finally feeling good this weekend. Both my teams have finally won.

    ReplyDelete
  19. boo him for the great 16 years and winning a super bowl

    ReplyDelete
  20. And boy does it feel good.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'd boo him because he plays for the enemy. I'll appreciate the career one he hangs it up.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Bro- So are you dropping Denver now that you are not there?

    ReplyDelete
  23. The Green Bay defense is awful.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sean- They've looked good in spots. Adrian Peterson can make any defense look awful.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 4 touchdowns for THE MAN, welcome home baby

    ReplyDelete
  26. Now its a long shot ball game. Vikings up getting ready to be 38-26.

    ReplyDelete
  27. No Eddie, I'm still with the Broncos. Titans have been and always be my main NFL team (for what that's worth), but I pull for the Broncos too, even after today. I like the way McDaniels has handled everything

    ReplyDelete
  28. Jhag has a serious man-crush on the Favre.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well, i'm off tonight. Catch everyone later. My baby girl is screaming, need to go calm her down.

    ReplyDelete
  30. He is my American Hero, you could even call it a man crush hahah do it

    ReplyDelete
  31. No, he's good and he continues to make Green Bay look silly.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Zac is not at UAB.

I'm trying to find out where he is. I know he's in Birmingham.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Im going to the Tennessee at Ole Miss game two saturdays from now, im pumped

    ReplyDelete
  34. Watching the playback on CSS. duirng the game I did nto realize that we did nto score from the 5:30 point left in the 3rd quarter. No TD in the 1st and none in the 4th. Need to correct that.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Lattimore says he had a great visit. I do not see him coming to AU but he said he was impressed with everything and AU would be in it to the end.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Jay,

Wonder if he is at St. Vincents? There or Brookwood would be my guess since he is not at UAB.

    ReplyDelete
  37. ESPN now projects AU to play in the Outback bowl vs. Wisconsin. A lot can happen, but that is better than Shreveport.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Outback bowl is a good bowl...or it was in 1997.

    ReplyDelete
  39. CBS has AU vs. Miami, FL in Chik Fil A Bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  40. FSJ- From last year to this year, that is a HUGE improvement.

    ReplyDelete
  41. We're going to the Iron Bowl. So is Bama.

    ReplyDelete
  42. No doubt E-Bro..

    I'll be there...no matter what.

    ReplyDelete
  43. If someone listens to fbomb this week, let meknow if he remarks about the dissention and racial problems AU has. It really showed up on Saturday didn't it.

What a LOSER that goober is.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I hope to be there.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Agree wtc..

I saw Auburn in the 6-6/7-5 range before the season. Right now I think they'll end up 8-4.

Chizik and his staff have done a good job working around deficiencies.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Maybe the team watched "Roots" on Friday night.

    ReplyDelete
  47. What was Sabans record his first year at Bama?
How many wins will Chizik have in his first year at Auburn after next Saturday?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Rhetorical question jhag?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Very much so, high five!

    ReplyDelete
  50. CFN has Auburn going to the Cotton bowl, that seems very likely to me. Outback seems unlikely, they almost always take an East team.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I went to the Outback bowl once...don't want to discuss it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Tell me about it, RK.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Based on things I heard tonight from Travante Stallworth and Ted Roof, I don't think Zac Etheridge is in great shape.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I cannot get reliable, first-hand information on Etheridge's overall condition.

    ReplyDelete
  55. That's terrible. Thoughts and prayers with Zac.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anonymous7:46 PM

    That's not good

    ReplyDelete
  57. I hate to hear that about Zac. Continue prayers for him and his family.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I hate to hear that, but hopefully it's something he can quickly overcome.

That was a really hard shot he gave on that tackle.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I just get the sense he won't play again. I could be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I see where you get that impression just by the way I've seen things worded.

There are far more important things than playing football even though sometimes we act like there isn't.

    ReplyDelete
  61. ehyou's hyperbolic words of wisdom:

    1. It's always better than you think it is.
    2. It's never worse than you think it is.
    3. Auburn football is awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  62. if he's not at Spain Rehab at UAB, perhaps Healthsouth Lakeshore Rehab. Hospital. Those are the two spinal cord injury centers in Alabama, according to www.brainandspinalcord.org

    ReplyDelete
  63. Excellent point THT.. i wasn't thinking about those two.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Wow- praying for the Etheridges and the rest of our team. It would be very hard watching a friend get hurt. Hope AC is handling it well.

    ReplyDelete
  65. As I said before my prayers are with Zac and his family. Hope he recovers and has no permanent damage.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hey Hotties!

Boy, has it been a whirlwind few days! We did get closed and moved into the condo. It was awesome getting to tailgate there with the rainy day on Saturday. And we WON!! I was a little concerned that this condo was the reason AU was losing, but maybe we just had to get into it to get Auburn back to their winning ways :)

I think I burned my candle at both ends a little too much this week. I ended up at Urgent Care today with a horrible sinus infection. I cannot remember the last time I have been sick, but I have had two nasty bugs in the last couple of months! But, I am on good drugs and already feeling better.

I love Auburn! We had such a great day! The only blemish was Zac's injury. I hope all of this is precautionary and he isn't going to have permanent problems. Prayers here for him.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Where is everyone? I thought with Auburn's win, this place would be hopping tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm here. MrsTHT and I are not watching college football :-( . We're watching when weather changed history, or whatever it's called on TWC.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Sorry, THT, that doesn't sound very interesting. Tom is flipping between the World Series and some movie with Denzel Washington. I hate the NY Yankees. Just sayin.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I hope you and Mrs. THT can come by the condo on Saturday. We'll have lots of food both before and after the game.

    ReplyDelete
  71. they're still playing baseball?

MrsTHT and I won't be in town for homecoming. I have the distinct honor and privilege of working next weekend. We'll be driving down on T'giving Day and having dinner at the Auburn Hotel & Conf Ctr. We're going to drive back to NC after the game Friday.

    ReplyDelete
  72. wanna see more Lutzenkirchen

    ReplyDelete
  73. THT,
We are having Thanksgiving dinner at my in-laws in Auburn. We would love to have y'all join us if you don't want to eat at a restaurant. That is a sincere invitation. If youdon't want to do that, I hope you will at least come by the condo and eat with us before the AU-AL game on Friday.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Cincy ...

I'll be riding solo Saturday, but I've got to drop by ElTurbo's apartment, which I think is near your new abode. I'll try to pay my respects.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Jet,
Hope you can come by. We are going to be putting our first condo, the one on West Glenn, up for sale in the next few days. If you know of anyone looking, send them my way.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jet-I may join you. I've got some stuff to do at the soroity dorm, but most of that is very earlyand then lunch before the game. Maybe we can catch up and drop in on cincy. I would like to see her new digs.

    ReplyDelete
  77. My daughter has a sorority formal Saturday night, so I'll be staying home this weekend. I'm sending in replacement Auburn fans so my seats won't empty. I'll definitely be down for the Bama game and hope we can have a Hottie meet & greet!

    ReplyDelete
  78. For anyone coming by to see me:

If you come in off of Cox Street, you will come through the parking lot and we are Unit 216. (First floor, so not sure why it is 216) If you come in off of Magnolia you have to come through a locked gate. Email me and I will give you the code. We are the first unit you come to after the gate, on the corner.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Hope to meet some of you folks the day after Thanksgiving.

Take it easy on me. :-p

    ReplyDelete
  80. FSJ-If you bring the BBQ, my group will take it easy on you, at least until we finish eating.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Looks like the DE that Tubbs recruited and then went to JUCO is headed to Tenn. Ken Adams is being recruited as a tight end. he visited UT the weekend and says he is going there now.
AU had slow played him. He would have been good to have but I think AU has a good shot at some high profile DEs and may have decided they could use the 4 years instead of 2.

    ReplyDelete
  82. FSJ-I mentioned this about two weeks ago and you responded, but I am asking again.

Corey Grant was at the Ole Miss game this weekend. I think he is still going to yoru school, but with the way saban recruits, does not go against his way of doing things?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Just looking over the BCS numbers. How does a computer ranking have Texas 17th and LSU 23rd (25th is the best spot as they go in reverse order)

    ReplyDelete
  84. THT-I'm keeping this thing moving all by myself.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'm taking my ball and going home now.

    ReplyDelete
  86. wtc,

I know he had the "you shop, we shop" thing his first year..but I think that was to weed out some kids Shula offered.

Trent Richardson took a bunch of visits last year even though he committed early.

With that said, I find it interesting that Grant is going to so many AU games. The folks on TI don't seem concerned, but I think it is odd.

    ReplyDelete
  87. No idea how that happens. LSU hasn't beaten anybody besides us. And we are what in the 30s and 40s according to the computers.

    ReplyDelete
  88. sorry, wtc.

MrsTHT has fallen asleep and I'm taking advantage of the situation and watching 4th qtr of Marshall @ UCF
