Your Late Update, 11/25

Hey everyone. We just spoke with offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, who said a few things of interest.

I'll lead with those and add comments from a few others.

  • Gus Malzahn seemed more upbeat about TB Onterio McCalebb's status. If you'll recall, the freshman seemed to aggravate his ankle injury against Georgia. ``I think all of our guys -- they're all ready to go. The week off definitely helped for a lot of our guys."

  • Malzahn on if he'll run some trickery against the Tide: ``Well we're going to do everything in our power to try to score points. Whatever that is and whatever they're giving us, hopefully we'll be able to take advantage of that. It's a big game, so we'll have to see."

  • LB Craig Stevens about 36-0 last season: ``It was terrible, but so was the whole season ... so it was just a bad way to end the season. We're just trying to focus on just getting better and just not re-living that again."

  • WR Darvin Adams on how playing the No. 2 team gets him excited: ``I think it brings out the best. The higher the other team's talent, it kind of brings out your talent. It's like if you're running a 40 and somebody's racing you, you probably run a 40 faster if somebody's racing you. So I think that will bring the best out of us, a big rivalry game. I think we'll be ready for it."

  • WR/QB Kodi Burns on 36-0 last season: ``All of last year ... was just a big mess. So you think about it, but at the same time we really didn't give ourselves a chance, you know, running different offenses every game and everything being in total disarray. It was pretty difficult. But just the fact that we lost to them, I guess that was the hardest part."

  • S Zaccheus Etheridge on watching the Georgia game at home: ``It's definitely hard for any player that loves the game and wants to be out there and knowing you want to be out there with the guys, your brothers that you go to work with every day. But you can't and you're not able to do it. It kind of hurts you. At the same time, things happen for a reason. It was kind of emotional sitting there and not being able to do, but seeing Ben in my jersey, they knew I was there not physically, but spiritually. That just lifted them up a little more."

  1. Take that, bammer!

  2. Only time a bammer will lose this week..

    Enjoy

    ReplyDelete
  3. The Bammer women's team plays this week. You know they'll be losing.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I said this earlier, but FAH needs to follow the Dexter McCluster workout plan since they are both about the same size. Maybe that will help his durability.

    ReplyDelete
  5. JayG with the zing on Faker.

    Nice.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I didn't know we played anything besides Football, Baseball, Basketball, & Gymnastics.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Bama is now only a 10.5 point favorite. They were a 12 point favorite earlier. At this rate, if we just had another week, we would be highly favored.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Exactly. Gymnastics? Seriously?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I guess that's their Swimming and Diving team, except not as good.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Zookeeper, can I have the tickets for free? Thanks, your friend Norm.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I have no problem with what Tate said. If he didn't thinkhe was the best RB in the state, he probably should go somewhere else.

What DAdams said was funny. Maybe he thinks he can do s good job against Arenas. If he does, will anyone that thinks it is out of line, say 'well he backed it up'. Probably not, they will find a way to say it wasn't that way in my day. Here is a news flash for those folks, they didn;t have internet, email, bloggers in my day either. Get over yourself.

We'll let Bama be known as that Gymnastics school.

We know who's dominated this decade in football.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Well yeah Jay..

Got something against chicks in skimpy clothes?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I thought Bama was the paper, rock, scissors school?

    ReplyDelete
  15. While normally we are gracious and give away our extra tickets, Norm, I think we will try to sell these. Going to Disney World in a few weeks so we need the extra cash.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Typical sexist Bammer.

    Shut up.

    ReplyDelete
  17. FSJ-If it is a 24-21 game are you going to shout the rammer jammer thingy?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Norm.....

    I hate you.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I thought it was quite sophomoric to do that to UT a few weeks ago.

    ReplyDelete
  20. wtc..

I don't care if it is one point.

    Beating AU demands it.

Did Tubs run around with all the fingers in the air after scraping by a few years? Yep.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'll give you $5.00 and buy you each a Coke.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That is just like the kid that makes a big tackle and then stomps around the field, meanwhile they are losing 28-0.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Did DMiller ever score a pair of tickets?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Bammer, don't you come in here spreading those lies. You don't hate me. I still think you should shut up though.

    ReplyDelete
  25. But Tubbs won the game. A win is a win, he didn't say he beat the dog out of you.

    I was just askin'.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I never understood why Tubs holding his fingers up so annoyed the Bammers...past the obvious anyway.

What's wrong with doing it, especially in your home stadium?

    ReplyDelete
  27. gymnastics girls are only hot if you're a pedophile. they never look older than 12.

    ReplyDelete
  28. DMiller said his wife wanted to go Christmas shopping.

    ReplyDelete
  29. one of my friends is looking for tickets. I sent a question through the appropriate channels to help him find them. I hope he does.

    ReplyDelete
  30. because they are whiners

    ReplyDelete
  31. Lighten up about Tuberville running around with 5 fingers pointed up, FSJ. He actually only wanted to give you one, but he was edited for television.

    ReplyDelete
  32. wtc, it's okay. you can hate FSJ this week. We all do.

    HATE!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I am so glad I do nto listen the call in shows. Ever since I gave that up, my life has been so much more productive.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous7:56 PM

After Friday, we can all give Bama one finger.

    ReplyDelete
  35. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes...Everyone please hate me this week..

    ReplyDelete
  37. 3ook at how he coached the last few years. i think Tubbs was actually showing UAT fans how little he had to do to beat their team. now he went a little too far and got it handed to him last year, but that is OK. 6 is long way from where we are now.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I can't believe the Iron Bowl is this week. This season was way to quick. At least this year we will likely go bowling somewhere. This season took forever to begin.

    ReplyDelete
  39. You can give Bama a finger now.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Steve...we're definitely going bowling this year.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I may have 4 tix for the SECCG that could be bought for the right price. I believe I can find a bammer that would $5000-$6000 for the set.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well Tubs overplayed his hand.

Coming into the stadium last year with seven up was hilarious..

He knew he was dead man walking.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ebro-I wish it was in the orlando Tampa area. I will be there for News Year and a few days afterward.

    ReplyDelete
  44. FSJ-I didn't see that. I saw some photo shpped pix o it but don't believe thse are real.. He may have I just never one that was not shopped.
But he did get under your fan base's skin didn't he?

    ReplyDelete
  45. WTC,

Get rid of them before Friday! That price is going down after Auburn hands it to the bammers. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  46. FSJ are you an Alabama fan?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Someone needs to ask Darvin if LSU brought out the best in them this year, if so its going to be a long day Friday.

    ReplyDelete
  48. He did it..

Did it get under my skin? You bet.

    Thankfully that's over.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I believe they just couldn't believe AU was not in awe of them or that AU thought they were on the same level as them in the last 10-20 years. I have some social friends that it just eats at them when AU is mentioned in the same breath as UA.

    ReplyDelete
  50. wtc...If we beat Bama, I would think Tampa might be back on the board.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Carmela,

    Yep..

    Lifelong.

    ReplyDelete
  52. FSJ-does that mean you take it perosnally when your team loses or just when someone continuously points it out?

    ReplyDelete
  53. FSJ,
I think one of us is lost or maybe I'm just confused.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Deep, deep southern fried HATE with scotch bonnet peppers grated on the top

    ReplyDelete
  55. Carmela,

He's deeply disturbed. We tolerate it cause he's lovable 50 weeks a year. Not so much right now.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Peter aren't you in the Tampa area?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous8:10 PM

FSJ wants to be a Tiger. He just won't admit it to himself but that's why he hangs around here.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Don't let him fool you, Carmela. He loves Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  59. FSJ-the first step is to admit your mistake. Once that happens, a huge burden will be lifted. you can feel better about yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  60. FSJ-defends AU on BOL boards.

    ReplyDelete
  61. The first step to recovery is to admit that you have a problem. C'mon, fess up you dirty stinking Bammer. You love us and you love AU.

If your first instinct is to say anything other than, "Norm is 100% right about everything" then just shut up.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Carmela,

    I love HABOTN..

    I love Alabama

    I love the hotties.

    I am conflicted.

    This week I hate Auburn.

    That about sums it up.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm starting to understand.

FSJ I like a man who enjoys a challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Since 1982, the facts are...

    Auburn leads series 16-11

Auburn leads in SEC titles 5-3

1992 aside and us getting jobbed in 2004, what am I missing?

    ReplyDelete
  65. E-Bro,

    You are not missing anything.

The problem is that you can't just act like pre-1982 never happened.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Carm - I don't think I've seen you in these here parts before, so, welcome. Begin to heap abuse on Faker just like the rest of do.

    ReplyDelete
  67. a couple of hours south of there in Naples, wtc, but not too far. Wakerider is in Tampa.

If Auburn plays in Tampa, I really want to go. Talking the misses into spending her first day as a wife at an Auburn game may be difficult.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Problem with that is UAT fans say AU did not win it all in '04 so therefore AU is still a lower level team. They just can't admit that everyone is not afraid of them anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Well, I wasn't walking pre-1982, so I don't think it happened.

    ReplyDelete
  70. PF - a very wise man once said, "...I never back down and I love a good challenge. What I do now is what I did then, I like to get down with all my rowdy friends." Are you not up to the challenge? I think you need to go ahead and set the expectations early.

    ReplyDelete
  71. wtc..

    I dont' say that..

Had we beaten UF in 94 we would have been left out.

Same thing if we had beaten LSU, & AU in 2005.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Dear FSJ and Bammers,y

You can't just act like pre-1982 is the ONLY thing that happened.

    Love,

    Auburn fans

    ReplyDelete
  73. FSJ-you have the draw the line somewhere. I wasn't around for that stuff that happened in the 40's'& 50's so it doesn't mean anything. Beofre the game last year, my then 17 year old daughter asked me of UAT had ever beaten AU. it is all in yor perpsective.

    ReplyDelete
  74. thank you Norm. I am new to these parts.

    ReplyDelete
  75. well you hear all the time if you take out the Bryant years Auburn has the lead in the series..

That's like saying if u take away those two 80 yard runs we hold them to 50 yards rushing.

    ReplyDelete
  76. my typing skills are drifting away.

    ReplyDelete
  77. E-Bro,

Not acting like pre 82 is the only thing that has happened.

I was in the Superdome on 1/1/93 and should we be lucky enough to win the next two, I will be in Pasadena.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Norm,

I've fought battles for the AU/UGA game and Iron Bowl and won both. I'll bring it up, but I'm not insensitive enough to make her leave her brunch early and spend her first day as my wife watching a team she really doesn't like. There will be other chances to be a jackass and get my way. I'll win those.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Anonymous8:23 PM

The Bear got a pass from the NCAA or Bama would have spent half those years on probation.

    ReplyDelete
  80. FSJ...I've never once said that or heard an Auburn fan say that.

    Am I the only one?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Proof NoVaTiger?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Of course I would not say that, but eventually a fan has to say, you know it has been a very close series in recent history. We all know that UA won a lot of those before most of us were born, but so did Army and Bud Wilkerson at OK, but You never hear Army fans bring up how great they were in the 40's. Becasue recent history doesn't show it.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Can we not go back and forth about the past and just hate some more?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Chicken. Other than that, congratulations on the upcoming nuptials.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Anonymous8:27 PM

Not going to look it up but there's an article out there by an assistant coach, more than one I believe but I've only read one.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Zookeeper, don't you recall that Bammers love to live in the past? Sure you do. You just had a momentary lapse. Or maybe you're just procastinating.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Kristina...that would be impossible. The past never dies with Bammers. They've been living in it ever since the cub passed away in 1983. :-P

    ReplyDelete
  88. YES.. PLEASE hate me...

    ReplyDelete
  89. Minnesota was a mighty force in the 40s-50s. 6 National Titles and a Heisman winner.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Harvard used to be pretty good too.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Do we have to hate FSJ? He seems nice enough and has won all of you over.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Where is all this talk coming from that the Pac-Ten is better than the SEC (rhetorical question...it's ESPN)?

I guess the fact that we're 2-0 against them doesn't mean much.

Besides Oregon, doesn't every team there have 3 losses.

    Puzzling.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Carmela...for these few days? Yes, we do.

We'll be all chummy again next week.

    ReplyDelete
  94. ``I think all of our guys -- they're all ready to go. The week off definitely helped for a lot of our guys."

    ALL?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Sorry, 2-1, not 2-0. Forgot about UT-UCLA.

    ReplyDelete
  96. 1913, 1957, 1983, 1993, 2004. That is 5.

    ReplyDelete
  97. OK E-Bro. I don't want to rock the boat. Sorry FSJ.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Carm - yes we do and don't let anyone else lull you into any other train of thought. He's a Bammer and we hate all Bammers all the time. It's really just that simple.

    Keep Hate Alive

    ReplyDelete
  99. Is there a dominant conference in college football this year?

Big Ten, nope, Iowa is considered special hahaha. Big East, nope, Cincinatti and a bunch of has-beens. SEC, not really, just those two (ugh!). Pac-10, as even as it's ever been, but not dominant. Big XII, nope, just Texas. ACC, I still have no idea if Ga Tech if for real, and it just goes downhill from there, so nope.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Faker is a big boy, he can handle the hate for a week or so. In fact I am pretty sure he relishes the attention.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I'm on board Norm. I know too many Bammers. I can draw on that hate.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Not looking good for Charile Weis:
Notre Dame's loss to Connecticut on Saturday did nothing to quiet the rumor mill surrounding the future of coach Charlie Weis. A change in an upcoming recruiting trip for the embattled coach won't help either.

Following the Irish's regular-season finale loss to Southern California last year, Weis stayed on the West Coast for a recruiting trip. He won't have that chance following Saturday's game against Stanford

    ReplyDelete
  103. Sportswriter Tate, since it hasn't been asked in awhile, please give us the background 411 on Bags Moon.

    Thanks a bunch.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Notre Dame athletics director Jack Swarbrick said Tuesday that Weis will return to South Bend, Ind., after the game, and the two will likely meet within a few days to discuss the coach's future and that of the program.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Norm, I heard he was a bammer.

    And he lives in Destin.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Everybody said the SEC was down last year, then we cleaned house in the bowls (aside from Bama of course).

    ReplyDelete
  107. Heard from a few folks this week that if UAT loses to either Au or FLA, Sabna can be had at ND. if he wins those two, they have to make a decision before the final game in january.

    I not sayin' anything, but...

    ReplyDelete
  108. DESTIN?!? Destin, F-L-A? Wow, I live there. I'll have to call him. Maybe we can carpool.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I hate you all...

    But I do like attention..

    So bring the hate!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Wait, I forgot. I don't live in Destin. Maybe I was drunk.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Keep hope alive..

Saban's next gig is on the lake in Georgia.

    ReplyDelete
  112. You live there too!! Crazy!

    ReplyDelete
  113. Faker's an attention whore.

    Shut up Bammer.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Norm..

I am indeed an attention whore..

Therefore I will not shut it.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Someone was drunk that night.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Anonymous8:51 PM

Still looking for a tailgate for my daughter and I to crash. Since I'm flying in, we won't be able to set up one of our own.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Wait a minute again. Maybe I do live there. I know I was born in Florida. I guess I moved up north to Destin. I really should slow down my alcohol intake or maybe start it later than 11am. Sometimes I don't know what I'm saying.

    ReplyDelete
  118. You are welcome to stop by ours NoVa. We are in front of Old Foy. THT has a map somewhere....

    ReplyDelete
  119. Who am I kidding? In this economy I can't slow my alcohol intake. People's jobs depend on me. Well, me and J-Z.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Nova-some of us are just going to roam around. I am, I think Jet is. If he is there JZ will also. We plan to hit Kristina's place, Cincy's place for sure.

I will be getting there about 8:00am.

    ReplyDelete
  121. If I knew you I'd invite you to my tailgate. Then again it's not really my tailgate. I'm more into being hosted than hosting.

    ReplyDelete
  122. My dear sister, Carmela ...

We tolerate FSJ in love as a wayward soul 51 weeks a year. The other week we hate the sin ... and the sinner.

There are things the Lord hates.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I will be accompanied by the family, so J-Z will not be in my traveling party.

Of course, before I announced this, I dumped my 50,000 shares of Orville Redenbacher stock.

    ReplyDelete
  124. This is for Kristina.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Anonymous9:01 PM

Thanks for the invite. How do I recognize your place Kristina?

Cincy's sounds good but I'm not sure where the condo is.

We're at the Lexington and I'm planning on heading closer in to park between 9 and 10. I want her to get the full experience (16 and looking at schools). Tigerwalk is at 11:30 right?

    ReplyDelete
  126. POPCORN POPCORN everywhere
    Welcome aboard Carmela
    This is for JET

    ReplyDelete
  127. THT, where's the map? Are the new people on it? Easyedwin posted his in a recent thread.

Hate Posse, am I gonna have to find you on Facebook. I really just want to meet Biff (jkev), but would love to hang with the rest of yous at some point. Got some old friends to search out, too.

    ReplyDelete
  128. NoVa,
Do you know where Lowder is on Magnolia? We are directly across the street. If you are standing in front of Lowder and looking at our condo (Brown Crest) we are the ground floor condo on the far left. We will have a tent out in front. Code for the gate coming up from Magnolia is 5241. You are more than welcome. We will have breakfast about 10 am.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Carmela, while FSJ is an Alabama fan, he is our Alabama fan. I like to refer to him as token. He doesn't suffer from many of the afflictions associated with Alabama fans, namely, I don't think he has ever meet anyone he married at a family reunion.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I am going to stop by Kristina's spot at some point on the way to my sister's tailgate. If I get a chance I will drop in on the CincyDome as well.

You'll easily recognize me. I will be wearing blue and orange.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Steve..

    You are correct...

    I avoid all family reunions.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Yeah, our spot is easy to find. Look for the orange tents. Oh wait one is blue and orange...

    ReplyDelete
  133. Oh, sorry FSJ, I didn't intend to talk about you behind your back in front of you. I do consider that rude.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Thank you DiggerforAU.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Jet - will you also wear your tiger hat? And just so you and Kristina know, I had popcorn at the moving picture show last night and once again I managed not to spew it on anyone. J-Z could never make such a statement.

    ReplyDelete
  136. By the way I am the token old geezer.
My freshman year at Auburn was Shug Jordans second year ........go figure

    ReplyDelete
  137. Let alone purposely spew, Norm.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Apologies Carmela for not saying so earlier.

    Welcome to the HABOTN.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Wow digger, you may qualify as an antique.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Old geezers and bama fans. This must be heaven.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Someone needs to warn me when we are gonna have company. I would have put on the clean underwear.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Anonymous9:16 PM

Thanks Cincy. Lowder is where Mag dorm used to be?

Orange tents, I'll look for you ZooKeeper.

    ReplyDelete
  143. This place is full of liars. FSJ saying he hates me. Steve claiming to have clean underoos. What has happened to the HABOTN I used to know?

    ReplyDelete
  144. I think my chapeau will be more conventional than the Tiger head hat.

    ReplyDelete
  145. You all can kiss my crimson...

    nevermind.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Anonymous9:18 PM

Carmela, Bama fans can't be found in heaven.

    ReplyDelete
  147. SFC beyond antique more like old
    Salvation Army.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Yes, Nova. If you remember where Little Henry's Dining Hall was, that is where Brown Crest Condos are now.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Cincy,

Can you take two stragglers for breakfast? Can we bring anything? My friends won't be set up by breakfast time, I don't think.

I can contact you elsewhere if need be (email, FB, that kind of thing).

    ReplyDelete
  150. cincy...

    Can we come to breakfast?..

Nevermind..We'll be at the waffle house at 4AM Friday.

    :-P

    ReplyDelete
  151. Thank you Ebro.
I'm not company SteveFC. I'm just part of the family.

    ReplyDelete
  152. FSJ that won't be a sober trip to Waffle House will it?

    ReplyDelete
  153. Welcome Carmela, War Eagle!

Tiger Walk at 11:30. Be there. Be loud.

Hopefully I'll find Kristina's tailgate on Friday! Took a whole season to get there. Cincy's condo is very easy to find. Just yell out Hottie Hoooooooooo periodically so we can find you other hotties.

    Keep On Hatin!!!

    ReplyDelete
  154. Thank you Kathy and WAR DAMN EAGLE to you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  155. Words from a country song

    God is great

    Beer is good

    Bammers are crazy

    ReplyDelete
  156. Maybe I will hang my hubbie's HABOTN shirt on one of our tents....

    ReplyDelete
  157. digger...

    Bourbon is better..

    Much better....
