Hey everyone. Welcome to Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, where a crowd of approximately 1,200 is watching this puppy live.
FINAL
Auburn wins, 94-78.
FOURTH TIMEOUT @ 3:29, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 80-67. Still pretty lackluster. Auburn is better in transition and has connected on a few more shots. That's the difference. Neither of these teams are very good. Just being real with you.
SECOND TIMEOUT @ 11:51, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 62-53. Well, the Hornets are shooting well now. They have hit threes on three consecutive possessions. Auburn's transition defense is all out of sorts. You have to think the Tigers will pull this one out ... but that doesn't mean they're good. Yucky.
FIRST TIMEOUT @ 14:36, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 56-41. Tay Waller has eight points this half already. ASU has eight. I'll say this about Waller: He's the worst bad-shot shooter I've ever seen. He's always leaning one way or the other. It's cringe-worthy stuff -- but he connects on a lot of them. I don't know how he does it.
STATS OF NOTE
*Alabama State hit 2-of-14 from long range. Yummy.
*Auburn hit 15-of-18 from the free-throw line.
*Alabama State has 12 offensive rebounds. Auburn has one.
*27 fouls called.
HALFTIME
Auburn leads, 46-33. Awful basketball.
FOURTH TIMEOUT @ 3:54, 1st half
Auburn leads, 36-21. Auburn is playing better in transition, slicing through a confused ASU defense for easy baskets or free throws. It's pretty simple. The Hornets can't shoot at all from the three-point range. Can't wait to see those numbers. They are stinky.
THIRD TIMEOUT @ 7:28, 1st half
Auburn leads, 27-20. Twenty fouls have been called. It's ugly basketball. Auburn looks better in transition and, honestly, all the ASU fouls give even a terrible three-throw shooting team a chance.
SECOND TIMEOUT @ 11:39, 1st half
Auburn leads, 18-12. Horrible basketball. Both teams are taking awkward shots (ASU's are worse) and committing silly fouls. There have been 15 fouls called already. Sloppy all the way around.
FIRST TIMEOUT @ 15:52, 1st half
Game tied at 8. Sloppy. Auburn already has fought over a ball and lost it out of bounds, allowed two awful offensive rebounds and basically seems tired. I don't know why. Long way to go here, though. ASU is probably sloppier, but they're hitting some shots.
YOUR AUBURN STARTERS:
PG -- Speed Reed, also known as Dewayne, of Houston, Texas
SG -- Frankie Sullivan of Uniontown, Ala.
"SF" -- Tay Waller of rural Georgia
"PF" -- Lucas Hargrove of South Carolina
C -- Johnnie Lett of Mobile, Ala.
Slam dunk! GO TIGERS!!!
ReplyDeleteFeel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, its basketball time!
ReplyDeleteis the most interesting fan in the world in your presence?
ReplyDeleteI saw wtc. No Jet yet.
ReplyDeletedid we manage to rustle up that many AU fans, or should we thank ASU for the generous turnout?
ReplyDeleteIt's a decent crowd, I guess.
ReplyDeleteAlmost totally pro-Auburn.
is this really happening?
ReplyDeleteFlorida in a battle with South Alabama early in the second half.
ReplyDeleteWhere have you gone Chief Kickingstallionsims? A nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
ReplyDeleteOSU and BYU scoreless after 3 minutes. Gusty wind in BYU's face, punter booms it 22 yards.
ReplyDeleteI arrived just in time for the players throwing T-shirts into the crowd, which I presume is their pregame warmup for turnovers.
ReplyDeleteDid that ESPN graphic really just say "Winds: 15-42 mph"?
ReplyDeleteMay be the basketball team had rather be home watching a football game.Touch down Oregon St
ReplyDeleteBYU got to rekick due to OSU offsides. 25 yard punt. Winds gusting up to 40+ mph.
ReplyDeleteOregon State has #1 ranked red zone offense in the country, and they just proved it: 7-0.
Apparently, it's Commit a Foul for Every Fan Night.
ReplyDelete13 fouls in less than six minutes.
ReplyDeleteGood basketball game on the Deuce right now between Michigan State and Texas.
ReplyDeleteYou know, as opposed to the game going on in B-E at the moment.
That is rediculous!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I like college football
ReplyDeleteMake that 14 fouls.
ReplyDeleteGood Grief.
ReplyDeleteGonna be a long game with all those fouls.
ReplyDeleteIf you commit 20 fouls in a half does the other team go into the quadruple bonus? We may find out.
ReplyDelete15 fouls. Still 11:39 left in the first half.
ReplyDeleteWith all the standing around watching people shoot, maybe they should just play HORSE.
ReplyDeleteLet's just pretend both teams are playing hard, physical basketball. Can we do that?
ReplyDeleteHard, physical HORSE?
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or do the AU announcers sound like they are clinically depressed having to watch this game?
ReplyDeleteAfter 20 fouls in a half can you forfiet the game and go home?
ReplyDeleteAnyone who stays for this whole game should qualify for community service.
ReplyDelete17 fouls. Still 10:17 remaining.
ReplyDeleteAuburn bball! Feel the excitement!
ReplyDeleteIf everyone is standing around watching people shoot how are we getting so many fouls? Refs calling fouls on the fans for booing?
ReplyDeleteAt least those of you at the game aren't having to listen to Senator Holtz. There are more superlatives than hot dog wrappers flying around the stadium.
ReplyDeleteDoes Auburn have more fouls than points?
ReplyDeleteToo bad the guys at the game don't get to watch a good game like the one going on in Austin, TX, right now.
ReplyDelete20 fouls. Still eight minutes left.
ReplyDelete7-6
ReplyDeleteBYU's extra point delayed while they untangle the All-State net which got blown out over the uprights when they raised it.
21.
ReplyDeleteQuite the flight pattern on that extra point.
ReplyDelete22.
ReplyDeleteWill the fans in Section 18 please report to the respective benches? You may be needed to commit fouls.
ReplyDeleteAre these legit fouls, or are the refs awful?
ReplyDeleteMost of em are legit by my count.
ReplyDelete23.
ReplyDeleteI was afraid of that.
ReplyDeleteSouth Alabama up on Florida 60-54 in Gainesville. 7:42 left in the game.
ReplyDeleteBYU scoops up dropped lateral and rumbles ~35 yards for TD, XP pending BYU 13-6
ReplyDelete25.
ReplyDeleteC'mon, foul someone! It's for the kids.
ReplyDeleteHas anybody fouled out yet?
ReplyDeleteIs it possible for me to commit a foul while sitting on my couch. I am in Auburn which is close to Beard-Eaves?
ReplyDeleteLebo said a key for Auburn would be to cut down on fouling and keep guys on the court longer. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteJaquizz Rogers of Oregon State dropped the lateral, his first lost fumble in his OSU career, covering 622 touches.
ReplyDelete26 fouls now.
ReplyDeleteFour minutes remaining.
I wanted so much to keep supporting Lebo but I'm finding it quite difficult to continue. Perhaps they can borrow Coach Fortner? She is excellent.
ReplyDeleteRogers also tried to pick up the ball rather than just fall on it. Ooops.
ReplyDeleteWhat happens when there are less than five players who aren't fouled out?
ReplyDeleteDo they have the power play in college basketball?
ReplyDeleteThis game is uglier than Mama Cass in a bikini.
ReplyDeleteofficials cap just blew about 50 yards down the field.
ReplyDeleteOSU recovers fumbled punt on BYU 1 yard line, negated by holding penalty at line of scrimmage before the punt.
I'll continue to support Lebo for the team's sake. I just see no way it gets better, and if that's the case, then surely he's gone.
ReplyDeleteLebo can't blame his assistants and clean house. How do you fire your father?
ReplyDelete"they are stinky" LOL
ReplyDeletethey took the "sky cam" down from over the field for fear it was going to get blown off the cables and plummet to the field.
ReplyDeleteTonight's promotion: Few Auburn, Few Orange
ReplyDeleteTexas has Michigan State on the ropes.
ReplyDelete12 offensive rebounds to 1? Awesome.
ReplyDeleteBut 15-18 from the free throw line? To my eyes deceive me? Surely you jest?
OSU & BYU taking a play from the AU/ASU game; lots of laundry on the field in the past several plays.
ReplyDeletewere they allowed to dunk their free throws?
ReplyDeleteDown goes Sparty! Down gos Sparty!
ReplyDeleteSome tenacious defense from the Longhorns has led to an 11 point lead with 3:22 to go. Great defense!
Auburn Hoops Fever! Take aspirin and drink plenty of fluids.
ReplyDeleteFlorida on the verge of going down to South Alabama.
ReplyDeleteSouth Alabama survives Florida's 3/4 court effort. Down go the Gators in a massive upset!
ReplyDeleteOregon State
ReplyDeleteOffensive yards = 42
Penalty yards = 55
As good as over in Austin. Texas up 11 with 40 seconds to play.
ReplyDeleteRece Davis may be a bammer but he could be a very good announcer if he did it more regularly. He needs to dump Sen. Holtzh though
ReplyDeleteHoopie,
ReplyDeleteYou know Reece does a good job because the bammers on Tiderinsider can't stand him.
Not a bad few days for the Texas basketball program with wins over UNC and Michigan State.
ReplyDeleteI'm digging BYU being back in the old school blue.
ReplyDeleteI'm not digging them being up 23-7, though.
The best thing about this game was the free chik filet in the scholarship room.
ReplyDeleteLebo gets some practice calling timeout after a putrid defensive effort allows 3 straight treys.
ReplyDelete62-53.
ReplyDeleteSo we're really in a single digit game right now with Alabama St., huh?
ReplyDeleteyep, E-Bro, I'm definitely a fan of the Beavers tonight. Not looking good.
ReplyDeleteWhat a mess this is.
ReplyDeleteMounting a drive here, though. A six spot before halftime would be big.
ReplyDeleteBEASLEY!!!
ReplyDeleteQuizz Rodgers should be a pre-season Heisman candidate (for what that's worth) next year.
ReplyDeleteHe's a stud.
I'm stuck on the Island of Misfit Basketball Players.
ReplyDeleteTime to oust Lebo?
ReplyDeleteugh, Oregon State gets nothing.
ReplyDeleteThe Good news: I picked BYU in the pickem
ReplyDeleteThe Bad news: I only assigned 3 confidence points.
It's now 72-56.
ReplyDeleteThe time to oust Lebo was two years ago.
ReplyDeleteI have hardly ever followed BBall and am certainly in favor of giving incumbant coaches every chance. Nevertheless, it seems that Lebo has used up all of his chances.
ReplyDeleteNice guy though.
BYU looks better coached.
ReplyDeleteI love watching Jay G live blog a basketball game.
ReplyDeleteYou have a talent in making me feel like I am watching this train wreck.
astatguy - what do you expect. Unlike the Beavers' coach, BYU's coach didn't play for the bahr.
ReplyDeletejust great. I throw out my first UA-T insult of the night, and it lands right in FSJ's face. Sorry about that, FSJ.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to watch the game:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.channelsurfing.net/watch-auburn.html
Oregon State has 2 six yard punts in the 2nd qtr.
ReplyDeleteLOL THT..
ReplyDeleteFeel free to insult Riley all you want.
He wasn't man enough to take the Bama job.
BYU is playing well on defense. Who knew?
ReplyDeleteI like "cringe-worthy", btw.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I want to watch Auburn play basketball.
ReplyDeleteReplacements for Lebo? Anderson?
ReplyDeleteCalipari, once he puts UK on probation and leaves?
ReplyDeleteI kid. I kid.
This could get interesting. The Auburn announcers don't realize that they have live internet mics during timeouts.
ReplyDeleteFrom watching the last two minutes Auburn appears to have an idea of what they're trying to do.
I still say Bob Marlin.
ReplyDeleteI guess these guys will win a game or 2 in the league, but I don't know where.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't you fire a basket ball coach in the early part of a season? You can always ask the local YMCA coach to come fill in and he will probably do a better job than what we are seeing now.
ReplyDeleteAuburn has shot 60% from the field, 80% from the line ... and they're up 10 points.
ReplyDeleteDefense has been less than outstanding.
ReplyDeleteTheir best player is a senior guard. Games in the stretch run and ASU is trying to get the ball to him for every shot. We should be all over him, and we aren't.
ReplyDeleteI'm sooooo glad the senior guard passed up the open three.
ReplyDeleteJayGT, Jet, wtc, and the multitude of AU fans at the game.. y'all please have a very safe trip home tonight.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to call it an evening in hopes I'll wake up to a surprise turnaround in the Las Vegas Bowl.
88-77 with 1:54 remaining.
ReplyDeleteOle Miss beat ASU by 37.
ReplyDeleteArkansas beat ASU by 25.
but but they have real coaches
ReplyDelete93-77.
ReplyDeleteJust imagine how much closer this game would be if Auburn had its usual type of free throw shooting night.
ReplyDelete24-29 is unheard in these parts.
2 hours of my life I'll never get back.
ReplyDeleteThat's a wrap.
ReplyDeleteAuburn 94, ASU 78.
Drive safely JET, JAY and any others there
ReplyDeleteIs Tiger Rags gonna do a score shirt for this win?
ReplyDeleteIs everybody heading to Toomer's?
Not knowing their mic was on the announcers predicted 8-8 or 7-9 in the SEC
ReplyDeleteAre they even going to count this one.
ReplyDeleteThis wasn't an SEC game. The prediction was from RB
ReplyDeleteWhat are the announcers smoking?
ReplyDeleteIs Lebo playing some sort of rope-a-dope strategy in the non-conference schedule?
Nice to see a win. Maybe Lebo will make it through the season.
ReplyDeleteWell, see y'all @ Toomer's Corner.
ReplyDeleteWhen does swimming & diving start?
ReplyDeleteThis is sad..the SEC is for the taking, we are building a new arena and we look like crap.
ReplyDeletemaybe they'll fire Lebo mid-season and name his dad as interim coach
ReplyDeleteI've seen us play and so far we are hairy butt awful. Just sayin'. We could be decent at some point this season, but it seems less and less likely as we go along. We'll seriously struggle to get to .500 yet again. War Eagle.
ReplyDeleteSo... I just ordered a PS3... By this weekend I shall have blue-ray goodness in my home!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the 1 must own movie... or the must own games for ps3?
yippee we won.
ReplyDeletesorry JG, but thanks for the effort.
see ya for HATE in the morning!
Have a Merry HABOTN Christmas everyone. I am heading back to good ole Bamie once again tomorrow and will stay through the weekend. Everyone stay safe over the holidays.
ReplyDeleteThe Bball game was not very good. Lebo played ALOT of young kids ALOT of minutes. He needed to. One interesting note, he sat Reed down for a long time in the 2nd half. The younger guys looked good at times. Several times he had 4 you ng guys and one seasoned guy onthe court and AU played better than when the starting 5 were out there. This team is not good. I think Lebo will probably need to go. But If someone can get the young ones to play aggressive every minute, they can be a better than average team.
ReplyDeleteThey have guys like BKnox that actually looks like he needs to be drug tested. He cam e off the bench and it looked as if they woke him up to send him in. Lucas Hargrove is totally lost out there. I was sort of hoping he might struggle in a class and they would make him sit out (nothing personal though). He has gone backwards every year.
ReplyDeleteFrankie Sullivan is very good but out of control at times. If he learns when to go 100% and when not to, he can be an star at AU and in the SEC.
ReplyDeleteWe shot the ball well, but against a horrible defensive team. We surrendered nearly 80 to an extremely bad team. We committed 21 fouls and 19 turnovers.
ReplyDeleteWhat happens when we run into good teams in the league? It won't be pretty.
Safe at home, and glad to be in my bed tonight. Later HOT ONES.
These guys are subpar players. Someone needs to come in here and recruit.
ReplyDeletechecking in
ReplyDeleteJhag-hows was your game the other night against the #1 player in the nation?
ReplyDeleteeh we lost by 15...held him 3 points under his average he had 30 hahah
ReplyDeleteSTeveFC - have a very safe trip and a very joyful holiday.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Hotties!!! Speaking of joy, we think 2.0 is on a plane awaiting takeoff from Munich at this very moment! She went back out to the airport this morning to try and get on a flight and may have succeeded! We'll have to go to GSO instead of RDU to get her late tonight, but I'd have driven to Philly if I had to. YEA!!!
Great news THT! Hope her travels are safe and she is winging her way home.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Hotties!
ReplyDeleteGREAT NEWS THT!
Safe travels to all the Hotties on the road and in the air this holiday season.
Last day at work today. It's been a very busy couple of weeks, so I'm ready for this shutdown. Don't have to go back to work until 1/4/10!!!
Doesn't sound like AU basketball will get us through the long winter months.
hey. no work today. or tomorrow. or the next day. or the next day. or the next day. or the next day. or the next day. and so on an so forth until January 5th.
ReplyDeleteHatin' this morning?
E-Bro,
ReplyDeleteGreat comment about Tiger Rags doing a score shirt from a random hoops game.
I'd actually consider buying it just due to how generic and awkward it would be to have a score shirt like that.
5 hours left to work this year!
ReplyDeleteRK- May the 5 hours fly. I hope this day flies and my 4 day weekend gets here :)!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think one of my lawyer friends just found out he didn't get a bonus or something. His Facebook stutus from 7:45 this morning:
ReplyDeleteHey. If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like [name redacted], my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, [bleep]less, hopeless, heartless, fat-[bleep], bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey [bleep] he is. Hallelujah. Holy [bleep]. Where's the Tylenol?
At least you don't feel this way. Happy Holidays, Hotties!!!!
Clark Griswold would be proud.
ReplyDelete;-)
ReplyDelete\m/ -_- \m/
ReplyDeleteHook em horns!
So are there HOTTIE tailgates for the Charleston Southern game next Tuesday?
ReplyDeleteCincy? Zookeeper? Anyone? Anyone?
Peter- I feel that way. We are not getting bonuses here, but yet my bosses / owners of the company are living high on the hog and drawing more money now than ever. That pisses me off. They have the power now because the job markets are tough, but eventually that won't be the case and I will make my statement and leave.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, hotties!
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by to say Merry Christmas, and safe travels to all who are traveling.
THT, I hope 2.0 has a good flight, and you have a good pickin'-her-up trip.
It is great to be an Auburn Tiger!
THT,
ReplyDeleteHer's hoping that 2.0 is indeed on her way so that the THT family can be together for Christmas. Believe me, it is most important for families to be together for Christmas. Sometimes due to circumstances beyond ones control, that does not always happen. My family had its Christmas gathering this past weekend and I was so grateful for the occasion. The next time I will be with my two sons will be on the 31st as we head to Tampa and a big Auburn win at the OB Bowl. Maybe we can roll a corner in Ybor City after the game.
THT ...sure hope that works out for 2.0
ReplyDeleteThanks, y'all.
ReplyDeleteEphemeral, you're avatar always makes me feel so good inside.
Yippee! only 17 more hours of work until I get to start my 10 hour Christmas work day! And 18 hour Saturday work day! Yippee!
Put that in your pipe and smoke it, PF!
Wait a minute... I think I'm confused about who the lucky one is here.
*your
ReplyDeleteIV- can't wait for the Outback Bowl!!! I sure hope we can win.
GO TIGERS!!!
that's right... I'm the lucky one, 'cause I'll be at the Outback Bowl and not stuck on some silly honeymoon.
ReplyDeleteOk, I may still be confused.
Sorry, Jet, no tailgate for Charleston Southern. We'll be back in bham by then. But, we are planning one for the LSU game on 2/27. We're going to be in Auburn and take in a baseball and basketball game that weekend. I'll pass along details later if anyone will be in town.
ReplyDeleteKeep your fingers crossed I can buy a couch this week :)
I don't want to hear it, Eddie, from some dude that just went to Disney for a week. You know how many times I've been to Disney this year? Zero!
ReplyDeletePF - zero trips to Disney! That confirms it. You are, indeed, the lucky one!
ReplyDeletethat's a lot of hours, THT
ReplyDeleteHatin at 9ct?
ReplyDelete2.0 must really like airports. She will have a 6 hour layover in Philly.
ReplyDeleteShe'll have plenty of time to take a cab to http://www.patskingofsteaks.com/ !!!
i think so PF.
ReplyDeletewww.supersport930.com
it's Always Sunny in Philadelphia THT.
ReplyDelete:)
Peter- Don't hate because I saved money like a mad man and had to have my mother-in-law go with us and pay for half the trip. Sorry man, it blows not getting something that you were promised earlier.
ReplyDeleteTHT,
ReplyDeleteDo you have a confirm that 2.0 is indeed on her way? It sounded as though you had when you spoke of the layover in Philly.
Eddie, I was kidding.
ReplyDeletedo we need Kristina here to confirm there was 'kidding'?
ReplyDeleteJay G, your compadre Kyle Veazy sounds like a sensitive girly man on the radio.
ReplyDeleteIV - we haven't heard from her via email/google chat since about 45 minutes before departure of the flight she was trying to get on, so we're operating on the assumption she is in flight.
ReplyDeleteShe's supposed to land at Greensboro around 10:30 tonight.
Outstanding THT...
ReplyDeleteI know you are happy..
The Sporting News' bowl projections have SEC going 8-2, with AU losing to NW. The dudes on ESPN last night are also expecting NW to win. And we're favored by the bookies?!?
ReplyDeleteIt's the day before Christmas Eve! And I am going to Auburn today. Life is good!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't see how Northwestern can beat AU..
ReplyDeleteSafe travels, Cincy!!!
ReplyDeleteSo, back to football. I have reservations about this Cam kid. I mean, how bad a dude do you have to be to get kicked off Florida's team? Is this guy going to be the next Otis Mounds or the next Branden Reed? I believe in 2nd chances; just don't know why we have to be 2nd chance stop of next resort?
ReplyDeleteIf he becomes all SEC, all Pro, donates $2m to Auburn and helps the homeless he can become an Auburn Man. If he just stays out of trouble I'm not sure that will be good enough. I think I'd rather see this guy play out of conference.
Well, FSJ, if the AU that showed up against Arky, KY, and LSU is in Tampa, and if the NW that beat Iowa and Wisconsin is in Tampa, it could actually be kind of ugly. I'm certainly hoping for a different combination of teams to show up.
ReplyDeleteAPI,
ReplyDeleteUnderstand entirely...
There's alot of risk involved for AU here from a perception standpoint. Especially if it doesn't go well.
I expect the AU that played Alabama to show up. That AU team that showed up was probably the third best team in the conference (behind UA and UF).
ReplyDeleteIf that happens it won't matter what Northwestern team shows up.
i'm feeling pretty bah-humbug today. i'm so over people fussing over christmas presents. ggrrrr....
ReplyDeleteOh no, Scottie B. The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear. Sing with me, You better watch out, you better not pout...
ReplyDeletescottie..
ReplyDeleteIt's time for Festivus.
You need to watch Elf :)
ReplyDeleteHatin' in 4 minutes.
ReplyDeleteWhat, I start singing and everyone runs away? The story of my life :)
ReplyDeleteYeah...
ReplyDeleteTHT,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to 2.0's flight on Flight Aware. I will be following it through the day and pulling for her to be on it. I pray she arrives safe and sound. I guess you will know something for sure when the flight gets to Philly.
I think it's time.
ReplyDeleteYou flipped without Norm!
ReplyDeleteWe don't need no one eyed elf to flip this thing. There's a new Santa in town.
ReplyDelete
