Going through the postseason motions

Hey everyone. Your favorite head coach made his first December trip to Tampa today for an Outback Bowl appearance.

The two coaches, both athletic directors and a bunch of well-to-do people from the Tampa/St. Pete area congregated at Raymond James Stadium for the event. Pictures were taken. Balls were autographed. A semi-real document was signed. A good time reportedly was had by all.

Here is more photographic evidence of Chizik's three-hour tour in Tampa:

  11. So LSU taking UF's WR coach Billy Gonzales as an OC? LSU wants in on that spread huh

  12. It seems weird to me that Colt McCoy won all the Player of the Year awards tonight.

Hopefully that prefaces something similar happening on Saturday night, but maybe they just vote on these other awards before the championship games.

  13. Man, this beats the heck out of no bowl game. Actually, the only thing that could have been worse last year would for us to have made a bowl, though. I wouldn't have wanted to see the result.

  19. So... everybody is going to FSU now? o-kay...

Jimbo pimping out coeds like Kiffen... or are they handing out stacks of cash?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I heard they are giving out Dillard's gift cards.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Who knows...their class went from 37th to 9th since Jimbo has taken over

    ReplyDelete
  22. Kelly to ND, that's what ESPN is saying...or am I that late?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jimbo's committed to restoring Florida State to where it once was. He's giving out Free Shoes!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sean... you're late to the party... but thanks for the newsflash

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah, I figured. I think Jhag's new manlove is Jimbo Fisher.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sean it might be, uh oh...Thats who I wanted Auburn to get last year

    ReplyDelete
  27. But what about Brett? Does he know about this?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I heard that Brett Favre just committed to FSU... he switched his commitment from the vikings.
He liked the fact that the figure head was no longer there and Jimbo was clearly in control, rather than just rumored... and he also likes that Jimbo only has half of a coaching staff right now....

read that if you ever get time and tell me you dont buy Jimbo...
Nick Saban and Bobby Bowden as his mentors...no possible way to get better than that

    Wow.

Almost Famous is still a great movie, though.

  33. Wow, Jay G. You like the NFL networks broadcast? It just seem minor league to me. Their camera crew misses a lot of action and they have Matt Millen.

  35. So what did I miss while I was at AU yesterday. Any more recruiting news happening?

    ReplyDelete
  36. wtc,
That's what we count on you for, even though you don't follow recruiting. What did you hear about the big time recruit you mentioned?

    ReplyDelete
  37. re: Brian Kelly, I would've done the same thing. Total BS to go undefeated in a BCS conference (or period...I'm looking at you Boise) and not even be in the DISCUSSION for a national championship. This year is just like 2004, the teams were decided by week 6 at the latest, and nobody else was gonna get in if there weren't slip-ups (not that Cincy 2009 = Auburn 2004, but the mentality of the voters towards them is similar).

Not saying he will win at ND (please, no more history lessons about the demise of the program, we've all watched it together), but if he does win, this will never happen to him again...plus its a lot of money.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Heard one of the cincy players talking about Kelly on the radio this mornign. Sounded betrayed by his coach. It kind of confirms the feelings some of you were having about his "used car salesman" feel. Not that there's anything wrong with being a used car salesman.

I understand his players being down, but this sounded a little more than down. One of those "I am not going to coach at Notre Dame" convincing his boys he's going to be there for the next year. Then signing a new contract @ ND.

I think Kelly is going to find out pretty quick he won't be able to recruit At Notre Dame like he did at Cincy. I give him three years.

    ReplyDelete
  39. All coaches are used car salesmen...at least the good ones.

    ReplyDelete
  40. can't recruit at ND like Cincy???? Yeah right. Analyze Weis's classes vs Kelly's over the last 5 years. That's not because Mount Charley is a better recruiter.

I don't get the used car salesman thing. Used car salesmen are sleazy because they're less than honest. Kelly has been truthful, and open the whole way. Nobody should be surprised that the transmission fell out. He told them up front that it wasn't attached. The players have the right to be upset, but they need to aim that at the system that says that puts a glass ceiling on places like Cincy.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Links to Kelly's "I'm not going to be the next coach at ND" comments? All I've heard from him is that he's talking to them and would be entertain what they had to say.

  42. AU has a secret visitor this weekend that is not showing on the boards. Name to be revealed later today.
I will say that according to many, AU has stopped recruting one of the top backs in the country. In fact, thay have not contacted him in over 4+ weeks. (Maybe they know who they are going to get?)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I keep doing a double take when I see Cincy, thinking someone is talking to me! But, alas, no.

Good morning, Hotties!!! Another party today, but for only 6. Have I said that I love having parties??

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ok, wtc, when can you give us names? Who are they not recruiting? Initials?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Morning peeps. What'd I miss on the last thread and the last 50 or so comments from the thread prior to that one (AU Lands Three...)? Though I'm officially off work for a few days, given what I do I'm never truly off. And, the hot wife has plenty of things for me to do which of course I comply happily. So, I haven't been able to read with you for a couple of days.

  46. I hear you PF, but when you find out from the media about your coach leaving, the same day as your awards banquet. I mean come on man, have a team meeting or something.

Now all that being said, he could very well be another Paul Johnson type that wins EVERYWHERE he goes.

    ReplyDelete
  47. My Steelers picked a good night to lose to the Browns, nobody on ESPN is talking about anything other than the ND coaching situation.

    ReplyDelete
  48. you gotta put that on ND for having employees that call ESPN. and leak stuff He closed the banquet to the media at the last minute so he could talk to his guys on the same day the deal was finalized. His guys knew he was in negotiations. It sucks how it went down, but I don't blame Kelly for that.

  50. Jay G went to Tampa to watch some ridiculous ceremony and some dude signing footballs?

    ReplyDelete
  51. we didn't really go PF, but we all know how connected our man JG is. he can get anything!

    ReplyDelete
  52. true. he probably plays xbox live with the bowl guys. I think that's how Auburn got in to the Outback bowl. Jay G didn't want to go to Shreveport, and xbox lived it up with the Outback dudes until they granted his wishes.

    ReplyDelete
  53. that's a cool conspiracy theory PF. i'm sure it's not too far off. :)
