Tim Hawthorne says goodbye

Hey everyone. In what I consider something of a shocker, wideout Tim Hawthorne has left the Auburn football team for good.

The Homewood native graduated this month. That's a wrap.

``He hasn't burned any bridges. He'll always be an Auburn man," assistant coach Trooper Taylor told reporters tonight.

Hawthorne always was one of my favorite guys. He's very bright, thinks about what he says before saying it and wasn't afraid to be honest. I remember asking him about the problems during 2008. He'd just shake his head, acknowledge that stuff was messed up and try to give you some insight. I never saw him in a bad mood.

With that said, I think the accident he endured several years ago on I-85 changed him forever. He was forced to face a lot of stuff you're not ready to face at 19 years old. He seemed distracted after that, maybe not as into football as before. I'm not saying he was lazy. Hawthorne saw a bigger world, I guess I'd say, and that intrigued him.

  3. Best of luck to Timmy in his future endeavors... he's had a very rough 4 years, marred by tragedy and injury...
I hope he finds success in whatever he is lead to do.

  4. I think his major was Public Administration?

I can see him making a difference for people if he further pursues that path.

  5. He has always seemed to be a very bright individual.

  6. I hate to see him go. I was pretty good friends with one of the guys in that accident. He said Hawthorne seemed real messed up over it.

  9. I hope Tim finds his way in this world. I do think you are right that the accident changed him. Having something like that happen will suddenly give you a different perspective on life. I appreciate all he brought to the team and wish him well.

  11. Sad to see hawthorne go. Is this thing with the 5-star quaterback serious? Where did this come from?

and out of the same place...

  14. Haven't been around tonight. Sorry to hear about Tim but I'm sure he and Auburn have a plan and it was mutual. I don't think he had a real shot at playing plus he had already graduated. What's this about a 5* QB

  15. Rivals is reporting that the #1 JUCO guy who is a 5 star quarterback will be taking an OV to auburn this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I will welcome any help at any position, but do we really need another QB?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Would he count towards last year's class?

    ReplyDelete
  18. you wouldn't think so with Rollison, Caudle, Trotter, Mosley, not to mention Burns......maybe there's something more to Rollison's "indefinite" suspension?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Maybe it's just that this guy is that good....we can all hope.

    ReplyDelete
  20. and yes he would count for 2009, he has to be that good otherwise i don't see the reason

  21. The 5* is a former FL player who backed up Tebow for a year, transferred to a JUCO school, then just led them to a national championship, so I've heard on the rumor mill. I found an article via google quoting his father that confirms his visit to AU tomorrow. His name is cam newton.

  28. man, this Cam Newton talk has got me excited again! When is that Bowl Game again?

OH yeah, New Year's Day! Woohoo! Haven't been this excited since we snagged that Bloomin Onion out from under Kiffin and UcheaT's tree!!!

  29. What an XMAS if we land Cameron Newton

.. Check out his Youtube vid from JUCO...

He is tall, can run and can scramble very well... could not make out how strong his arm was but you do nto get 5* for throwing ducks..

It would give our young QB's time to develop....I would love to see the Gus bus with a QB who can run...

  30. I want a flying car that I can lend in the parking lot, Jetson's style. NOW!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. OK Peter I will make a deal with you....

    You can have the car...

    I get Judy..

    ReplyDelete
  32. I know people will say the Newton hype falls along the same lines as Burns...then Rollison...but neither of those guys qualify as a BEAST! 6'6"/250/4.4 is very BEASTLY. Kodi's too short...Rollison's a bit small...this guy is a man!

After seeing what this team did with Todd and a limited number of skill players, imagine Newton manning the show with Dyer/Lattimore/Seastrunk and McCalebb in the backfield. Man oh Man!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. or maybe even whose Judy???

  39. Will you be my Judy Jetson. Will you be my spacegirl, oh yeah!

    ReplyDelete
  40. how old is Judy, and what's the age of consent in North Korealand?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nothing but the best to Hawthorne...

I said yesterday if the coaches get a good vibe from Newton, we have the scholarship space and he seems to be a proven good QB, why not offer him?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Jane Jetson follows HABOTN?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I trust Chizik completely on the QB sitchiation

    ReplyDelete
  44. Now don't get me wrong, if Rollison remains an AU Tiger, I'm still on the Rollison Express, but that's seeming a bit cloudy at the moment.

With that said, signing the #1 player in the nation, regardless of position, is something Auburn hasn't done in a looooooooong time!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Judy has been around years.. she has to be in her 40's by now... do cartoons age?

    ReplyDelete
  46. So is it time for Hatin' w/Jay G?

    ReplyDelete
  47. DL, look how well Jane Aged, she is a very attractive lady. I would imagine Judy would still look good into her 40's.

  48. JKev,

If you are reading a little "Leave My Blues at Home" by tthe Allman Brothers Band would be nice if you got it.

Just googled a pic of Judy Jetson.

I'm not sure whether she is of age.

I'm pretty sure she will not be happy with a naked Korean dictator.
