Aairon Savage gets some good news

Hey everyone. The Albany (Ga.) Herald is reporting that Auburn safety Aairon Savage, who has missed the past two seasons because of injury, has been granted a sixth year of eligibility.

Recall that Savage's most recent season-ending injury involved an Achilles tendon, which is notoriously fickle about being repaired. If he's healthy, he'll challenge for a top spot at cornerback.

  5. Thanks THT. I took some time to sit at my desk and eat my lunch but was able to check back in and post my valuable substance quickly.

It's easy to forget the Aairon Savage was a pretty good ball player a few years ago when he was on the field. He was one of my favs.

I hope he can recover and contribute.

  7. Any time I think of this injury...

    OUCH...

    comes to mind quickly

  8. Look what I found....a DB. Cool.

  9. Thanks JGT, that is welcome news for our secondary. We need depth back there.

  10. Norm - you did save some for the flip, right?

I'm so proud of Aairon's degree and graduate work. I wish him much success on the field and in future endeavors.

  11. Just read a piece from The State newspaper in SC by Phil Kornblut concerning Lattimore. He says:

In all seriousness, it will be shocking if Lattimore doesn't announce for USC Tuesday night. As I was told tonight by a real source with some knowledge of the goings on, Lattimore has made too many visits to USC, made too many close contacts and friends and felt way too comfortable there not to make it his home for the next three or four years.

Shocking if doesn't signs with USCe? More likely Shocking if he does. I just got a gut feeling Auburn has this guy locked down.

  12. I do not. I got a bad feeling about that kid staying home, but what do i know.

    ReplyDelete
  13. LoganT...it has been discussed how big of an idiot that guy is.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I took that about him from reading just that one article CH=B.

  15. Great news on Savage!

On a non-related note, I hate the Senior Bowl being on the NFL Network.

  16. SC, sign up for Direct Tv. I'll give you my account # and you and me both will get $100. I had charter cable ever since I started college and I hated it. Finally two years ago I made the switch and have loved it ever since. The talk about the signal going in an out during storms is nonsense. I have never completely lost signal and only had minor interuptions. I actually had my cable go out more often. I still have a cable modem and it goes out before Direct Tv.

    ReplyDelete
  17. How many days till signing day?

    ReplyDelete
  18. THT, we do for now. When Latt commits I can see him going to Clemson or KU.

  19. I had a dream last night that Big Al was talking to Shon and Aubie came along and punched Big Al in the face and gave Shon a piggy back ride back to Auburn. I know it sounds really weird but it was a sign.

  20. Why would anyone want to commit to the walmartians and live in Turdistan for 3-5 yrs.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Speaking of Turdistan, there was some talk yesterday of Cody's weigh in. The scout guy called him a human mudslide, so that was funny. But evidenly he is not doing to bad cansidering he's heavier than the scouts expected. I'm not exactly how light they were expecting him to be, but there it is.

  22. the person who invented the drain near the top of bathtubs is my hero.

    ReplyDelete
  23. They expected him to be around 350, MTD

    ReplyDelete
  24. 350 - light as a feather

    ReplyDelete
  25. His excuse was that he hadn't had time for conditioning since the end of the season because of the NC game.

What? Are you not training for that game too? How about the couple of weeks since? Freakin' idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Evidently he was just a tad over that at 370

  27. live SEC chat on Rivals.com right now...Jamie Newburg at Rivals believes Coleman is still an AU lean, but not sure. He says Whittaker looks AU bound and it's tight between us and Ark for Jones.

Says he thinks Lattimore is a slight home state lean.

He also adds that he really doesn't know what to make of this Coleman situation.

Man, Feb. 3 couldn't come fast enough!

  28. Yeah, I don't think I'm going to believe anything until 2/4. Well unless wtc's mom says it's so.

    ReplyDelete
  29. CH=B, I might consider that at some point. Doesn't matter for the Senior Bowl, though. I'll be at my parents house and they have cable, too.

  30. JM of rivals is always un-informed. For someone that is paid to know is he never in the know. Rivals/scout are a complete waste of money.

THT-did you start a bath and walk away?

    ReplyDelete
  31. SC just let me know. That goes for anyone who wants to make a switch to Direct Tv. It's great. I had NFL suday ticket and loved it. So if anyone wants to sign up let me know. If you use my account # you and me both get $100 off of our bill.

  32. CH=B - sort of... filling the jacuzzi in case we get ice instead of snow and lose power. We had an ice storm about 7 years ago and had no power for 5 days. We live in a country bumpkin subdivision with a community well, so if electricity goes out, the pump goes out. 7 years ago, thanks to MrsTHT genius, we were the only people in the neighborhood who had water to flush the toilet. An emergency water reservoir is the only function of our jacuzzi tub.

I totally forgot it was running. It is filled to the brim. No telling how much went out the safety drain.

    ReplyDelete
  33. CH=B...I'm getting that feeling about the guy at Rivals. Basically just giving out know information. For an insider, I do agree that he seems very uninformed.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Scott Chocolate, you should try U-verse, if it's available in your part of Bham. We have it and really like it. We get the NFL Network, the Big Ten Network and ESPNU - all in HD.

    ReplyDelete
  35. plus a whole lot more.

  36. Where did everybody go? It's Friday! You're not working, are you?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think Scottie B. mentioned this earlier, but many of the players from AU's great basketball teams from 80's are going to be at the game Saturday. Man, I loved that core team from 84-86! I was a senior in high school when they won the SEC Tournament and then went to the Sweet 16, then a freshman at AU when they went to the Elite 8.

  38. I demand to be entertained! The following are gladly accepted:
    - breaking recruiting news
    - humorous anecdotes
    - anything about food

    Thanks

  39. Scott Choco, I wasn't living here then, but at least I have something to look forward to - because it certainly isn't the game! LOL Maybe they will surprise us...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Luv, didn't mean to ignore you regarding U-Verse. Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think I can get that where I live, though.

  41. Ehyou, I went to a restaurant last week that served an 8 lb hamburger.

  42. Last year was the first year I even knew about recruiting and that was because of this blog. This year my stomach is absolutely tied up in knots about recruiting, which is ridiculous! How can something I really don't know anything about become so important? My hubby tells me I am "abscessed". I am beginning to think he is right!

Anyone have anymore recruiting information for the junkies? :)

  43. I'm not saying that a group of Gumpians met for lunch to compare notes, but I'm not saying they didn't either.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Jet, the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Just remember that.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sleep study tonight. I have to be there by 9:00 and no wi fi. I doubt I'll feel sleepy at all.

  46. Ehyou, here's an anecdote from one of AU's late 80's Sugar Bowls (I don't remember which).

Sometime during a big night of partying in the French Quarter, one of my buddies disappeared. He never turned up at the hotel room that night. The next morning, another of my buddies pulled open the curtains of the hotel room window (which looked out on the river). He sees the missing guy wandering around the deck of one of the riverboats docked below. When we finally hook back up with him later, we of course ask wth he was doing on that boat. He said that he decided sometime during the wee hours he wanted to get on the riverboat, so went hand-over-hand hanging upside down from one of the mooring ropes to get on board. He ended up "falling asleep" on the riverboat on a coil of rope and when he woke up, realized he couldn't get off the boat (not willing to do what he did to get on). He ended up just waiting until the crew got there in the morning to lower the gangway, then ran off the boat when no one was looking.

  47. Nothing better than a hot woman that loves recruiting....wait did I say that out loud.

  49. Well, Recruitmas as Jet termed it, can't get here fast enough for me.

  50. CH = B scopin' the sassy Cincy.

    Too bad CH = B, she's a kept woman.

  51. On Recruitmas Morning, my stocking will be stuffed with AU LOI signed by Lattimore, Coleman, Lemonier, Whitaker, and Bryan.

  54. SC, I have a New Orleans story for you. That where I went for my bachelor party. 1st night there we hit the scene pretty hard. We had already started drinking on the way down (not the driver of course) so we felt pretty good by check in. To make a long story short I go missing. My buddies look for me for a couple of hours and decide they should just go back to the hotel room. meantime I am wondering the streets of the big easy. All I really remember is paying a bum $20 to help me find my hotel. The next morning I wake up on the floor of the bath room with a big bump on my head and my elbow was scuffed up. My friends didn't know whether or not to be pissed or laugh. They didn't let me out of their site the next night. There is more stories from that weekend, but it would take me a week to talk about it. I would suggest to anyone that they should go there for their bachelor party.

  55. THT,
    I want your stocking!

  56. ehyou ... I understand he's hiking the Appalachian Trail.

  57. THT ... I predict the first four are correct.

  58. I just read my post again. Forgive all of the grammar mistakes please. That was pretty bad. I guess I had to get into the New Orleans mentality.

  60. CH=B,
I'm going to remind you of this when your FAUWG's fiance is scheduling his bachelor party :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Seriously jetticator? That's awesome. I hope he's having a blast.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Cincy, please don't. I wouldn't want anything to happen that would prevent him from going...:]

I never said I did anything bad. Nothing I can remember that is.

  63. And speaking of the Appalachian Trail ...

  66. This is not the greatest article, but I really like the flow chart at the bottom:

    Flow chart

    ReplyDelete
  67. Love the flow chart, SC. I did a little experiment yesterday. I had to pick hubby up from work and had to wait about 30 minutes. So, I turned on fbomb. I know, I know, but I did. I listened to 10 callers. ALL 10 callers were bama fans. 9 out of those 10 bama callers called to talk about Auburn. It was incredible! I can't imagine calling a radio sports show to talk about bama. But 9 of these callers had to call in and run down Auburn about something. I think they are scared!

  68. New thread UPZ. (Probably a bit late)

    ReplyDelete
  69. CH=B, I could go on for quite a while with NOLA stories, but I will spare everyone. I've been there probably 20 times and crazy things happen every time. I just picked one that had to do with an AU game. I didn't go there for my bachelor party, but did go there for a friend's. He ended up back at the hotel for the evening shortly after we paid some extremely scuzzy strippers to tape up his nipples. (Can you say "nipples" on the HABOTN?)

ehyou, you're right about losing people down there. The funniest thing to me about the riverboat story is the other guy seeing him from the hotel room window.
