We'll also keep an eye on the men here. They're playing at Tennessee.
You may watch the men play. Their game is being televised on ESPN2 in high definition for those of you who have invested in that technology.
FINAL
Auburn wins, 74-62.
FOURTH TIMEOUT @ 2:49, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 68-50. Auburn has scored on each of its last six possessions. Four of them were extended because of strong offensive rebounding. I guess the Tigers were just waiting for the pressure to mount. Then they took command.
THIRD TIMEOUT @ 7:11, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 57-48. Blanche Alverson broke another Alabama run with a three. She's good at that. I still think Alabama is playing better ball right now. Nothing is coming smoothly for the Tigers. Alabama's man-to-man defense has been surprisingly good. It's obviously annoying Auburn.
SECOND TIMEOUT @ 11:49, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 52-38. Auburn is just grinding. Offense isn't coming easily, but they're making it happen.
FIRST TIMEOUT @ 16:21, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 47-34. Alabama is playing harder than Auburn, in my opinion, but the Tide cannot shoot. Period. Auburn stays in zone. Alabama has carte blanche to shoot from outside and it refuses. They keep driving. Offensive rebounding is giving them a chance.
HALFTIME
Auburn leads, 43-30. Alabama built a 9-0 run as halftime approached. A three from Blanche Alverson broke the surge. So that's where we are.
FOURTH TIMEOUT @ 3:59, 1st half
Auburn leads, 38-19. Auburn is staying it its 2-3 zone and making Alabama, a poor shooting team, shoot from outside. It's not going that well for the Tide. I'll say this -- Alabama is getting better quickly. Their 2006-07 team is the worst major-college team I've ever seen. At least their strategy makes sense now. They don't look lost. They're getting ripped here, obviously, but they have an idea.
THIRD TIMEOUT @ 7:58, 1st half
Auburn leads, 32-15. Auburn has cooled off a tad, but that doesn't matter. KeKe Carrier just "redirected" a weak shot from Alabama's Katie Hancock and, wow, it was an aggressive deal. Legal but aggressive. The Tigers are amped up.
SECOND TIMEOUT @ 11:38, 1st half
Auburn leads, 27-11. Carrier was laying it down early, then Alli Smalley became the focal point. She has scored seven points since that last time timeout -- two baseline drives and a three. It's ugly. Or pretty ... depending on your feelings.
FIRST TIMEOUT @ 14:47, 1st half
Auburn leads, 16-7. KeKe Carrier is unstoppable. She already has seven points.
Let's go ladies!
ReplyDeleteNo TV?
ReplyDeleteWomen and men both leading?
ReplyDeleteGO TIGERS!!! Make it 8 in a row!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's getting worse.
ReplyDelete23-9.
Men on ESPN2
ReplyDelete25-9.
ReplyDeleteMen are leading by 3 ... 13-10 ... 14:34 left in half ... Knox heading to line.
ReplyDeleteCLANG. STRIP.
up by 4.
I hate Bama and UT
ReplyDeleteOK, it's tied now.
ReplyDeleteDang, Pearl's son looks just like him!
ReplyDeleteThe men are doing good with the 3s tonight.
ReplyDeletethanks, JGT! I am greatly appreciative of your Official HABOTN Live Blog!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't post much, but I'd like it to be known, I'll be a very happy man when DeWayne Reed is far far away from an Auburn jersery.
ReplyDeleteugly? It's BEAUTIFUL, JGT!!!
ReplyDeleteDo the men know how to drive to the basket?
ReplyDeleteHow many missed shots was that?
ReplyDeleteFeel free to keep adding men's update. I can't watch.
ReplyDeleteAttendance here in The Beav is pretty good. I'd say it's 1,500.
Hi all and War Basketball! The Fulmer post earlier made me lol. Looks like Phil had Kiffin pegged. I agree with the postings that Phil is hoping for the AD job. More power to him. The funniest part of the article to me was the part where he alluded to the past of UT as being high in moral- I call that wrong.
ReplyDeleteAuburn 17 - TN 14
ReplyDeleteThe men can't shoot, but they're definitely putting forth some effort on rebounding and scrambling for loose balls.
ReplyDeleteMen 20-15. Taking a lot of 3s, not doing much inside.
ReplyDeleteHow 'bout Hargrove with the star on the side of his head?
ReplyDeleteWomen: 32-15.
ReplyDeleteGood D there!
ReplyDeleteNot so good there!
ReplyDeleteDangn't just lost 3 points.
ReplyDeleteNo way that was a lane violation.
ReplyDeletea 25 point lead at the half for the Ladies would be fabulous! Pour it on!!!
ReplyDeleteVols morally opposed to rebounding, apparently.
ReplyDeleteMen ahead 23-17 8:11 in the half
ReplyDeleteEveryone in ObKnoxville is fixated on Lane violations.
ReplyDeleteWow, they made 2 free throws.
ReplyDeleteWow 3 after 3
ReplyDelete6 turnovers on UT. 28-17
ReplyDelete11-2 run
I thought the coaching deal was embarrassing for UT.
ReplyDeleteThis is fun so far!
ReplyDeleteCan you tell that ESPN360 is behind the TV broadcast?
ReplyDeleteAuburn women now lead 40-28.
ReplyDeleteAlabama is on a bit of a run here.
50% from beyond the ARC
ReplyDeleteIsn't that what we normally shoot form the line?
Men 34-24
ReplyDeleteWomen letting AL back in it?
ReplyDeleteHalftime: Auburn 43, Ala 30.
ReplyDeleteThis is looking more like Auburn basketball.
ReplyDeleteMen are getting cold and letting UT back in it.
ReplyDeleteYuck, this is more what I expected. I hope our guys can heat back up (and stop being careless with the ball).
ReplyDeleteCome on Tigers. About to blow the lead.
ReplyDeleteYepp , Aunurn is capable of blowing a 12 point lead fast.
ReplyDeleteTie game
ReplyDeleteI love Auburn. But I hate watching Auburn bascketball under Lebo. Down 2 now.
ReplyDeleteThey are forcing us to drive, and we can't.
ReplyDeleteThey look terrible inside the 3 pt line.
ReplyDeleteUT started playing defense and that creates opportunity for their offense.
ReplyDeleteSullivan hits one from Alcoa.
ReplyDeleteSo Auburn men haven't scored in like 5 minutes?
ReplyDeleteAU 37 UT 38 at the half.
ReplyDeleteIt could be worse.
Fire Lebo.
ReplyDeleteThat's right Jay. They made a last second 3.
ReplyDeleteThis could be the worse Lebo I've seen.
ReplyDeleteNo mas....No mas....No mas...
ReplyDeleteNo excuse for giving up 16 unanswered points. This offense lives and dies by the 3 and rarely plays Defense. I'm sure he learned that from Dean Smith with that great pedigree
ReplyDeleteThey went 5:42 without scoring until Sullivan hit one from 28.
ReplyDeleteLane Kiffin already being jilted by the local LA media. He is really a clown.
ReplyDeleteThe media got on him pretty good last night. It's a different rodeo out there in LA than it is Knoxvegas.
ReplyDeleteThe whole UT athletic program seems to be a mess right this second, at least with the 2 money sports.
ReplyDeleteWomen: 47-34.
ReplyDeleteOn a totally unrelated note, I think Pat Robertson may have lost his mind.
ReplyDeleteAuburn men were playing well until I started watching I turned it off.
ReplyDeleteWill check bak later.
Jay....
ReplyDeleteYou familiar with T.J. Simers from the LA Times?
He blistered Kiffin in this piece today..
LA Times
Jay G is a mega TJ fan.
ReplyDeleteFSJ- that is exactly the article I was referring to.
ReplyDeleteHe was the one that kept going after him about Crazy Ed calling the UT early enrollees...
ReplyDeleteIt was great stuff. Kiffin was getting P.O.'d and couldn't do anything about it.
Pat Robertson has been nuts for years.
ReplyDeleteAccording to him, the world ended nearly 30 years ago.
I imagine Kiffin can dish it but not take it.
ReplyDeletePretty basket by Sullivan.
ReplyDeleteBig contingent of football players here.
ReplyDeleteMost notable: Tyrik R. sitting with Cam Newton. They're chums.
And, of course, Onterio McCalebb. I think he comes to every athletic event. I see him everywhere.
ReplyDeleteQuestion is will the pep band play Rammer Jammer?
ReplyDeleteRollison Express still has legs.
ReplyDelete54-44 here.
ReplyDeleteShould a train have legs Eddie?
ReplyDelete43-44 Ut
ReplyDeleteMaze almost beat out Prince for the rebound.
ReplyDeleteSurprised UT hasn't contacted Utah's coach.
ReplyDeleteWake- at this point it seems like a pipe dream so legs are appropriate.
ReplyDeleteThat's good to hear on Tyrik and Cam.
ReplyDeleteUT 44 AU 42
So is Curcliff officially the guy. If so...bwahh ha ha ha.
ReplyDeleteCome on, Ladies. Stomp 'em!!!
ReplyDeletewell, look who just blew a BEASLEY!!!
ReplyDeleteTHT- Bwahh ha ha ha.
ReplyDeleteNow the same old AU Bball team is going back to form. turnovers, tunrovers, turnovers.
ReplyDeleteFouling Brandon Knox is a wise defensive strategery.
ReplyDeleteStart the bus, Auburn.
ReplyDeleteI'm about to turn this off.
ReplyDeleteDReed show again. miss a layup. he sucks. sithim down. Au loses by 16,easy.
ReplyDeleteWTC- agree. Sorry to interior the bball game, but what is te deal with Coleman?
ReplyDeleteUT50 AU43
ReplyDeleteEddie, the Rollison Express has been sidetracked for the next 2 years.
ReplyDeleteThis Miller Lite commercial where the guy can't say I love you is pretty god. I've been there.
ReplyDeleteYeah I think "The Kid" is gonna find the LA media a little more savvy, and less "homerish" than the Knoxville media corps.
ReplyDeleteThe Kid - that's great.
I have been out today, what happened to Coleman?
ReplyDeleteThe Rollison Express may have to lay new tracks if he doesn't get his act together.
ReplyDeletesingle digit lead? Come on, Lady Tigers! It's "those people" you're playing! STOMP THEM!
ReplyDeleteAre the two announcers back inthe studio doing this game?
ReplyDeleteWhich Coleman?
ReplyDeleteNow, it's really over.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless Frick Lebo. UT 53-43.
ReplyDeleteReed 3-12 from the field. SHoot till you get hot.
ReplyDeleteWTC- rumored to have cancelled his Auburn visit and may be Ole Miss bound.
ReplyDeletetme to watch Food network.
ReplyDeleteNow 65-50 here.
ReplyDeletewhich explains Rivals upping his star count.
ReplyDeleteWow, Auburn's men make horrible shot selections.
ReplyDeleteWtc- your favorite player just got the plus one.
ReplyDelete68-50.
ReplyDeletethose are pleasing updates, JGT!
ReplyDeleteTennessee just seems to stand around on offense.
ReplyDeleteI just saw where Chow turned "the kid" down. I think that nick name will stick.
ReplyDeleteYeah..I like "the kid" too.
ReplyDeleteTennessee is palying with walk ons. Pearl is a good coach.
ReplyDeleteI'm not thinking Coleman stays...not sure why he isn't higer on AU, we've been on him since the beginning.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Seanzie. Kinda blows of we lose him. It's not over.
ReplyDeleteOh I know he's a good coach. He's probably my favorite basketball coach in the SEC
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that those in the coaching fraternity know either something's going on at USC and it's going to be a problem, or something's going on with The Kid and it's going to be a problem
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrible shot by Reed. Bench him.
ReplyDeleteI will say this...it's a good sign the staff was in on him early despite his lack of ranking...he has since has a monster year and climbed the mag charts. It shows they can indentify talent as well as go after the bigger name recruits.
ReplyDeleteSo Coleman finally showing why he has been a soft commit all along. don't understand him. Always says he's committed to AU, always talking about being open to the other schools
ReplyDeleteAuburn needs to get back in the zone.
ReplyDeleteAlright...it's getting refrickindiculous.
ReplyDeleteWell. I say we Lise by 20 at this point. Why do I care?
ReplyDeleteOn mens basketball, it's amazing we can field a team of players with so few basketball skills. We don't defend, we don't block out, and are constantly caught in poor position.
ReplyDeleteGET BACK INTO THE ZONE.
ReplyDelete70-57 here with 1:33 remaining.
ReplyDeleteFSJ ...
ReplyDeleteAuburn needs to get back on the bus.
What an effort play by Chism.
ReplyDeleteAgree Faker, the Man-D makes us look silly.
ReplyDeleteJay G- is there any hope of Auburn firing Lebo this season?
ReplyDeleteDuh Duhhh Duh....Hey bammer
ReplyDeleteDuh Duhhh Duh....Hey bammer
We just beat the heck out of you..
AU women fun to watch these days. Wish I was there. jay, you may have said before, but what size is the crowd.
ReplyDeleteThere's not a reason yet, Eddie. We're losing to a top 10 team on the road. Let him coach it out ... announce in late Feb. that he's not coming back.
ReplyDeleteJet, the reason isn't that we're losing to a top ten team, but we look like guys And1 didn't want. It's awful basketball.
ReplyDeleteJet- I think the pre-sec slate is enough reason isn't it!
ReplyDelete???
Eddie, I heard rumblings a couple of days ago that Lebo was done. He won't be back. This not coming from Athletic dept. This coming from the money, and the money makes the decisions.
ReplyDeleteI have not heard whatever it is you two have supposedly heard about Shon Coleman... He was originally scheduled to visit UT this weekend... he cancelled it. I had heard that he planned to come to AU this weekend instead.
ReplyDeleteHowever, keep in mind with Monday being a holiday that some recruits may take 2 visits this weekend... Fri/Sat at one school... Sun/Mon at another school.
Last I heard with Shon he was still expected to sign with AU.
I am trying to check on that though.
WHo says Coleman is not visiting? I just called and he is still on the list to come in.
ReplyDeletetell your mom hey for us wtc...
ReplyDeleteThe list I saw had him as unconfirmed...I was just commenting on Eddie's comment. But he's acting like he doesn't want to come.
ReplyDeleteLebo hasn't done anything worthy of being fired in January. He hasn't insulted the fans, or caused negative attention on the university.
ReplyDeleteI would hope we've got more class than that. There will be a time and a place to do this.
another shot by Reed.
ReplyDeleteUGAH watching Reed play ball is like getting a root canal.
ReplyDeleteJet, you and I have consistantly defended Lebo. I am officially off that wagon. AU needs a change. When is the last time you heard Lebo on the radio or anywhere selling AU basketball. Name one difference maker he's recruited, just one.
ReplyDeleteWTC- I believe the Scout site is saying so. A lot of people seemed to be stirred up. I'm just searching for clues.
ReplyDeleteCheap foul on Sully...
ReplyDeleteSo what's the line on Auburn vs Kentucky this weekend?
ReplyDeleteBut Jet, you do agree he has done something worthy of being fired, right?
ReplyDeleteA root canal would be relief. This is awful.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we fire him until the end of the season, and we shouldn't.
ReplyDeleteOK the men's team plays like they have two left feet whether I watch or not. Did the ladies win, it should be over.
ReplyDeleteFinal here: Auburn wins, 74-62.
ReplyDeleteSponge ...
ReplyDeleteI am convinced it's time for him to go. But firing him in January is childish, absent something substantial -- violation, arrests, something major other than losing. Plus, there's no one on staff capable to hold it together without completely embarrassing the university.
I think Coleman signs with AU when it is done. These kids get a lot of pressure being the #1 player in their state and not staying in state. That is the main reason Latt has not publicly announced. Dyer said the pressure was hard. TReed said LSU folks hound him everyday. It happens.
ReplyDeleteThank you sponge. Jet the whole body of work of Lebo while at Auburn is enough reason for most coaches to get a pink slip. He does a terrible job of exciting the fan base. At least Cliff Ellis got that.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Live Blogger Tate. I very much enjoyed your hoops updates from The Beav. Please have a safe drive home.
ReplyDeleteGood night, Hotties. It's past my new bedtime.
*Throws up in mouth...*
ReplyDeleteThis is awful. I have defended Lebo over and over again. He is not helping his case with this effort tonight
ReplyDeleteThis is awful. 52-20 since Auburn had a 34-22 lead.
Ok..somebody crank the bus.
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, I'm off the bandwagon. We're not arguing "if," we're arguing "when."
ReplyDeleteUT haspnly 6 scholly players. Didn't AU have like 6 2 years ago or something. AU didn't play like this team from UT does.
ReplyDeleteBTW, another awful shot by Reed. he sucks.
OK thanks JGT good coverage on the lady tigers.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of hard to believe the chaos that was Auburn Football a year ago, has now become an event to keep an eye on. Lessons to be learned by programs that have decided they need a "big splash" guy, not necessarily the best coach that's available. Although you never know, if The Kid would stay longer, he actually might be pretty good.
ReplyDeleteWith a semi straight face I said that almost.
Jet- I'm not saying fire him right now, but I will be pissed if he opens up the new arena. I agree it should wait till the end of the season. I just want some hope that it will actually happen.
ReplyDeleteLet's get it to 30, Vols!
ReplyDeleteAU has been outscored 18 to 41 since the half.
ReplyDeleteEddie, consider it done.
ReplyDeleteAuburn is full of ballhogs and matadors.
ReplyDeleteNo D and bad shots.
Two words...
ReplyDeleteMike.....Anderson
WTc- I hope your right it makes sense.
ReplyDeleteWTC,
ReplyDeleteYou are 100 percent right. Reed is KILLING this team.
The bottom line is that we knew tonight and Saturday were/are going to be difficult.
ReplyDeleteThat's why last Saturday's game was so important. And they got whipped.
Trust me, Lebo's done.
I agree Jet about firing mid season. Normally, I would never advocate choosing a coach of a particular color, but in this case I will. AU needs to hire an up and coming black coach. One with the energy to recruit and one that will actively on on TV, radio, events, etc...and SELL AU basketball. One that will play a wide open faced paced in you face defense, exciting brand of basketball that fans want to see. A coach with personality. Not Bruce Pearl personality, but genuine positive outlook.
ReplyDeleteyou fall asleep in a bham hotel room for a few hours and the AU men come from ahead to lose against a team that has the same problem lebo had his first year (depth). at least the bus will be warmed up for them. the driver was the luckiest guy in the building, he got to leave early.
ReplyDeleteIt ain't just Reed but he sure leads the parade
ReplyDeleteRivals has COleman visiting this weekend.
ReplyDeleteA lot of the things you read on the message boards are rumors started by fans of that little school to northwest. Just to get under folks skin.
I can't imagine Anderson is available now.
ReplyDeleteFSJ named the coach I would like to have.
ReplyDeleteAuburn's basketball team has several one-dimensional players: some walk, some chew gum.
ReplyDeleteWe can't even make a layup.
ReplyDeleteTheir little white dude, 13, plays better ball than our best player.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Tony Neysmith not playing?
ReplyDeleteWhen they came back after halftme I said, "Now here is when UT runs away with it."
ReplyDeleteWay to go Lady Tigers!!!! WDE!!!
Anderson would have taken the Bama job last year.
ReplyDeleteYou have to ask.
WTC- I figured as much, but there has been a lot of chatter about him the last few days.
ReplyDeleteFor a team that relies on the 3, we sure aren't good at it.
ReplyDeleteNo effort on rebounding. This is AWFUL
ReplyDeletesome dribble off there right foot others dribble off there left foot
ReplyDeleteThe last 5 minutes have been lunchtime at the YMCA.
ReplyDeleteFlipping???
ReplyDeleteIt's funny at this point.
ReplyDeleteBoom.
ReplyDeleteCome on
ReplyDelete
