Hey everyone. We have a BIG ONE at The Beav today.
Undefeated Kentucky, they of the 17-0 record, are in Auburn and ready to tussle. Are you wondering how Auburn will perform? I'm not. I think I know, but here's an information box anyway.

Notable: Auburn lost its second consecutive league game at Tennessee on Thursday night, 81-55 … Kentucky has won 24 of the last 25 games in this series … Auburn's last win against the Wildcats came in 2000 … Auburn hasn't beaten a top-10 team since 2003, which represents a 10-game skid … Two of UK's top four scorers are freshmen from Alabama -- guard Eric Bledsoe (Birmingham) and forward DeMarcus Cousins (Mobile).
Should be an "interesting" game.
ReplyDelete"Alabamians Eric Bledsoe and DeMarcus Cousins will have a quasi homecoming Saturday when Kentucky plays at Auburn. One of them sounded like he'll take a metaphorical chip on his shoulder into the game.
ReplyDeleteWhen asked Friday if the game held special meaning for him, Bledsoe said, "Yes, sir. It will. Because Auburn didn't recruit me."
Sorry for the lack of posts yesterday.
ReplyDeleteOur oldest pug was rushed to the vet after getting sick repeatedly ... and we now know that he has diabetes! That's why he was drinking water non-stop!
Lebo said he "tried" to recruit Bledsoe and Cousins.
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what that means.
Glad your pug is OK. My daughter has a black pug. She had 2, but she lost the daddy last year.
ReplyDeleteAuburn could win - I know it would take a miracle (or two) but stranger things have happened.
ReplyDeleteUmm, somehow I don't think we need to give Kentucky any incentive. This is like a fly against a fly swatter, which is a shame.
ReplyDelete"When asked if he got the signal through the recruiting grapevine that Bledsoe and Cousins were not interested in Auburn, Lebo said, "Pretty much."
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your pup, Jay. I know my puppy is a very important member of my family.
ReplyDeleteJay G, no need to apologize! We know that not only are you a busy man at work; you have a family too. I'm glad that you discovered your dog's problem and that it's treatable. My dog drinks water non-stop too. I put him through a battery of tests - including two different surgeries - all to no avail. I think it's all psychosamatic (sp?). Now that he's older, he has leakage problems too!
ReplyDeleteChiz & Co need to teach Lebo how to recruit! You don't listen to the grapevine.
ReplyDeleteHi JayGT. Glad you'll be covering the Kentucky, er, I mean Auburn basketball game for us today.
ReplyDeleteI think we all know how the game will turn out too. "He goes for the 3...and, it's nothing but air!"
ReplyDeleteWERK, you have mail.
Games like this are a reminder of why a coaching change is necessary. I don't have anything personally against Lebo, but these kids deserve a chance to compete. I can't really see this team hanging close enough to even keep the score respectable.

I don't even know what that means.
That made me LOL
Especially with the crowd. Their adrenaline will be pumping.
ReplyDeleteOK, hotties, at least TRY to think positively - and I don't mean that we will positively lose!
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can work a little Auburn magic?
Football team should be there in full force to accept that trophy. That's a positive!
ReplyDeleteLUV - Molly started with a leaking problem last summer. She takes phenylpropanolamine (brand name Proin) and hasn't leaked since the first pill. Have you tried that yet? (of course, I'm talking about for your dog)
ReplyDeleteGO TIGERS!!! BEAT THE WILDCATS!!!
ReplyDeleteHow's that, Cincytiger?
Triedd to recruit? Man, that is hard to figure. Did he try to dial his phone number? Man, got the first 5 digits in there, but by that point he was worn out and .... Um, what?
ReplyDeleteTar Heel, I've read that there a lot of side effects with that drug. So, I bought something all-natural. Many customers have had left very positive feedback. It's enroute as we speak. I'm tired of cleaning up all his dribbles!
ReplyDeleteI guess we've been fortunate. Molly has had no side effects, just positive results.
ReplyDeleteJay,
ReplyDeleteHope all is well with your pug. My parents had to put one of their dogs to sleep this week. It was a bad day for them.
How long do we give Lebo? Some people say this year some say next year whats the deal???? How long?
On the radio the other day I think Jay made it pretty clear he believe Lebo is history. Hope I am not mis-quoting you, Jay. I think we he said was he can't see us winning another game. It is that bad.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see UK play in person. Other than that, yeah it should be embarrasing
ReplyDeleteLuv: How do you try to recruit but not actually do it? You call. He answers. You have recruited. It's easy.
ReplyDeleteI just don't see how Lebo makes it another season.
ReplyDeleteAuburn can beat Alabama. Maybe. Ole Miss? Maybe. That's about it.
Ole Miss? They're in the top 25 right now.
ReplyDeleteHow do we beat them?
Maybe at The Beav? Auburn's usually good for a mild upset now and again ... the one day that 60% of their threes go in.
ReplyDeleteI'll be hoping against hope today, but all I see is Patterson and Cousins absolutely abusing us down low.
ReplyDeleteSame goes for Bledsoe and Wall in the backcourt, but especially down low with the other two.
I pity Brandon Knox today.
who all is going to the game I have to work but I know Stupup74 is going anyone else
ReplyDeleteI am going to try to watch this game, but I won't get my hopes up. I am assuming we will try to have a fast break type of game. Just looking at the height of the players, why is just about every Kentucky player about 3 inches taller than our player? Sure, you can win with speed, but that just seems weird.
ReplyDeleteHope you're right JayG.
ReplyDeleteAs for Cousins and Bledsoe, it's hard for me to imagine a scenario where even if Lebo does more than just ambiguously 'recruit' them that they come to Auburn.
Maybe I'm just selling our program short.
E-Bro, I think you have to have the attitude you can get any recruit, much like ChizCo did. No way should we have a top 10 class this year, but we do.
ReplyDeleteour program had big names back in the day. Auburn playing in the SEC should bring in some big names some.
ReplyDeleteEllis got some guys that could play. I loved the years Doc and Porter was here.
ReplyDeleteTHT, now that's what I'm talkin bout!
ReplyDeleteI do know that Lebo caught some bad breaks, but after this much time being at Auburn, a negative perception has developed which will be very difficult for him to change.
ReplyDeleteI was a big Lebo supporter. I thought he did a good job in several games last year and thought this year would be the big break out.
ReplyDeleteI guess that is why I am on such a big negative shout out now.
Lebo must go and the sooner the better.
Anyone know what channel the SEC Network is on with Direct TV?
ReplyDeleteIn Birmingham?

Let the Hotties - esp.the alums - pick up the phone. I know they could do a better job of selling Auburn than Lebo.
It sounds like Bledsoe may have had real interest in AU...
ReplyDeletePeople have made excuses for Lebo for 5-6 years now... and the first couple of years, it was understandable...
But, in year 6, we have regressed to the point that this may be the worst AU basketball team I have ever witnessed. And didn't Lebo say before the season that this was going to be his best team? I have been off the Lebo jalopy for a couple of years now... it seems as though more and more people are finally bailing on the guy.
Yes, I know attendance is bad... but attendance is always going to be bad for a bad product, and Lebo puts out a bad product. Do I think we could lure a Calipari caliber coach? No, and we don't have to... but we could get an up and comer from a mid-level school who has shown that they could get a team to the postseason. Even Billy Gilispi might be a good fit at AU... AU could attract a much better coach than what they have.
Today's game will get ugly... I certainly hope our football coaches can find other entertainment for the recruits than to watch this debacle.
I know I haven't posted here in a while, but I'll be on the front row in the Lunatics section and will do my best to get a HABOTN ad on the air.
ReplyDeleteI like Lebo "The Guy". I think he is a very nice guy and does try hard. Six years ago I thought he was the best guy for the job after the other two said no.
ReplyDeleteBut I think its time
D. Miller said...Do I think we could lure a Calipari caliber coach? No, and we don't have to... but we could get an up and comer from a mid-level school who has shown that they could get a team to the postseason.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was screaming yesterday, although my semantics were wrong - as several of you pointed out.
Is Kentucky laying 11 points the safest bet in the history of college basketball?
ReplyDeleteI can't say that he even tries hard...
ReplyDeleteThe South carolina game... we were down by 7 with 2 minutes left... we didn't foul to stop the clock... Downey just dribbled around until the shot clock ran down... And instead of hurrying the ball up court (like we normally do, wildly and out of control most of the time), our guys walked the ball up with no sense of urgency at all. All the while Lebo sat on the bench, not saying a word.
At that point, he had given up... down 7 with 2 minutes to go? I've seen teams erase bigger deficits with much less time than that... despicable!
KY is only laying 11 on this game???
ReplyDeleteBet the house...
line is moving in AU's favor - it's down to 10
ReplyDeleteIs there something I should know?
I was at the RV show yesterday (youngest person there, except a toddler conked out in his stroller) wearing Auburn stuff as usual, and a guy stops me from a campground booth (in Happy Valley actually) and says hey so what about Jeff Lebo. My response is groan what about him. He didn't like my unenthusiastic response and says he is from his home town in Penn and that he was friends with Lebo's dad for years. I told him I liked him as a person but that he was probably done at AU.
ReplyDeleteKinda an odd story.
I can actually watch a lot of the games this year. I just wish they didn't make me ill.
ReplyDeleteHow is the line moving in AU's favor for this game? What am I missing?
ReplyDeleteI scored a front row seat again today. Will be behind the UK bench on row 1. You guys/gals look for me today. I will be the one in something other than ornage today.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't we go after Pat Summit. That guy can coach.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the scholly room will have some good food.
ReplyDeleteCincy-Probably will not hear anything on recruiting until after they leave on Sunday. Usually stays pretty quiet until they leave.
ReplyDeleteAny chance Nell could coach both men and women?
ReplyDeleteWay to go WTC, I'll be looking for you!
ReplyDeleteThe line is moving because Auburn is going to win! :) I'm selling orange colored glasses! Anyone want a pair?
ReplyDeleteI think Lebo is from Carlisle, which is about 45 min. from my hometown. I still think it's time for him to go.
ReplyDeleteRumor is that he wants the Noerthwestern job. Not sure why they would want him, but he is just putting inthe time to get out of AU.
ReplyDeleteI recall a comment after about year 1 where he said something like 'if I knew then what I know now, I would not have taken this job.' I am paraphrasing and cannot recall where this came from.
That sure doesn't sound like someone who wants to be there. wtc, say hi to my in-laws if you see them in the scholarship room. Hopefully we will be joining y'all there in about 5 years!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's the difference between our menz basketball program and our football program: one set of coaches 'tries' to recruit quality players, the other set of coaches actually recruit them.
ReplyDeleteEven if the results were the same (which, in this example, they clearly are not), I'd still prefer the second approach.
BTW JGT & THT, I am currently submitting this post from a public interwebs setup at the largest annual veterinary medical conference in this hemisphere.
ReplyDeleteIf you need further info on canine diabetes or incontinence, I could probably get a second opinion. . .or a one-thousand-three-hundred-and-seventy-second opinion, for that matter. . .
Ooooooo...PIG! SOOIE!!
ReplyDeletebtw, wtc, I'm going to pretend you didn't say that about Pat.
Luv,
ReplyDeleteI couldn't figure out what in the world you were yelling about. Then I was flipping channels and saw the Ark-Bama game. You go girl!
Thanks for letting us know what she was talking bout Cincy because I had no clue. Now that I know I am right there with you Luv. Whats the score??
ReplyDeleteanyone hear that UT might be changing their song to

ReplyDeleteas a matter of public record, i was at that 2000 victory over UK. it was THE best basketball game i have ever been to. i thought the roof was going to blow off the BEMC. amazing.

Everyone go to the bball game and show support at 3 also at halftime Darvin Adams will receive MVP trophy for the outback bowl game
At halftime, 32-34, UAT, I think.
ReplyDeleteUGH. At halftime, I turned to watch PSU-Iowa. Penn St is as bad as Auburn. In 7 minutes, they have scored a whopping 20 pts. They missed a lot FT's and 3-pt shots. Fortunately, Iowa is just as bad. They are both at the bottom of the Big 10.
ReplyDeleteWhat does it say when a school has a NC celebration right in the middle of their school's men's basketball game?
ReplyDeleteAs much as I hate the Tide, I don't think that player deserved to be ejected, do you, Cincy?
ReplyDeleteScore update: Ark: 53. UAT: 48 with 10 min. left in the 2nd half.
ReplyDeleteLuv, I didn't realize that the celebration was not at the bball game. Are they really having a celebration in Bdenny stadium while the bball team is playing?
ReplyDeleteChannel 8 in Montgomery is televising it.
ReplyDeleteWell, to clarify, dan dan, it's an away game, but because it's bama, I must take offense!
ReplyDeleteIt's an away game and a big recruiting weekend. Good move, IMO.

ReplyDeleteOf course its a good idea IYO SFJ, you're a bammer. I agree with Luv.
