Radio Appearance Forthcoming

Hey everyone. I will be participating in my weekly segment on SuperSport 930 out of Jackson, Miss., in a bit. That extravaganza will begin around 9:07 a.m. CST.

We will discuss Auburn ... and other stuff.

Be there or be rectangular.

  1. Radio time is righteous.

  2. Just when you think I'm out...I'm pulled back in!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Stupicide is one of my favorite words, along with Nostradumbass.

It is possible that UT didn't want Cutcliffe. I thought it would seem too much like going back to the Fulmer days, although the Fulmer days will a little team discipline might not be a bad thing.

    ReplyDelete
  4. So, will we be able to call in and ask Jay mind numbing questions?

Jay, what do you think of the men's basketball teams chances for making a run at the SEC title?

  6. Thanks for that link Faker on Alzheimer's.

My dad suffered 14 years with it, the last 8 in a nursing home.

It is always in the back of my mind. This would be a great advancement.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hope you enjoy Kippy!!! Hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  8. ehyou...to answer your question from the previous thread..

Roy is very involved in recruiting at a bunch of schools.

He brags about kids being at his house for parties often.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Jay G. guarantees that UT has talked with Tuberville's people!!! Film at 11:00.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Jay says "I don't see a win on the schedule". Jay predicts Lebo is gone. Jay bringing the heat early.

    ReplyDelete
  11. JGT with the impressions. He's a cool dude.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm sure it is great, but I can't listen at work :-(

    ReplyDelete
  13. There is at least one Bama board out there floating Malzahn's name for Skip Holtz's old job. Anyone else heard it, or is this just the standard Walmartian knee-jerk whenever a mid-major HC slot comes open?

    ReplyDelete
  14. weagle...that's wishful Bammer thinking.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I don't see Malzahn leaving. In fact, Jet says last night that he has it on good authority that he'll be with AU for three years. Now, that post of his certainly sounds (reads) right familiar with me. Reckon where I might have come across that previously and who posted it? Actually, I know, it's a rhetorical type thing.

    ReplyDelete
  16. SFL: You're funny.

Chances of Lebo making the CBI (let alone the NCAAs) = my chances of landing a date with Jenna Fischer.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm not sure Malzahn WANTS to be a head coach, especially following a successful HC at a mid major...that's a tough act to follow.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm sort of out of the loop... is there any prospect of UT getting a HC before the season starts?

    ReplyDelete
  19. weagle...

I've seen that...have no idea if it is true or not..

The one that posted it is a former UA player from the Bryant/Perkins era.

    ReplyDelete
  20. You know for all the Walmartian drivel around our offense being all high school and gimmicky, they sure want it gone.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am not really concerned about Gus leaving this year. If we have a great 2010 season, I will be concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  22. He should have been fired at least two years ago. There is no reason for Auburn to be this poor on a consistent basis.

All you have to do is look around in your own neighborhood. LSU gets in the tournament. So does MSU. Ole Miss is getting better, has a good coach. UGA made that run through the SECs a few years back. Vanderbilt is better than Auburn every year. Tennessee. Kentucky. Florida. Even South Carolina went out and bought a decent young coach.

    It's bad business.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I predict AU playing in SECCG in '11. After that, maybe Malzahn considers leaving.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Plus, we look like crap with bad talent. You've seen some untalented teams play well with solid fundamentals and good X's and O's.

    ReplyDelete
  25. This just in, Jay lands a date with Jenna Fischer, or maybe not.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jay who on that staff, including Lebo, knows how to coach?

    ReplyDelete
  27. we need a bball coach with the charisma of Jim Jones. Just spare us the Kool-Aid.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I read on a UT board that Muschamp and Malzahn were going to UT. So....yeah, it's all true.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sounds like we got the worst program in the league....ouch.

    ReplyDelete
  30. National Barack Channel. Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  31. ehyou - I'm not aware that UT-Austin is scheduled to play the Vols in Knoxville. And AU won't be back there for a number of years.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jay G, spendthrift.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I actually think we have a better chance of the SECCG in 2010 than in 2011. We do better in even number of years when most of our games are at home and we graduate 4 offensive linemen after 2010, although the coaches are doing pretty good getting a set of guys to step in for 2011.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I must now be (more) rectangular. Y'all have fun. Someone step up to the plate and make me proud... especially if Eddie and/or Scottie aren't around.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Chizik. Chiz-ik. Two syllables, no 'n' and no 't'.

    ReplyDelete
  36. JGT dropping the Walter Gilbert reference in HATE. nice work fellow AU football historian!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Seanzie @ 9:19 -

    My thoughts exactly.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Jay G. feels validated.

"What part of Jeff Lebo looks good to you? What part?"

Seems like Jay isn't pulling his Lebo punches.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I can go out there and draw fouls and shoot 80 percent. Therefore I am more valuable than Speed Reed.

    ReplyDelete
  40. "These guys need to go work at NBC." Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  41. "These guys need to work at NBC".

    Man, Jay G., excellent ripping.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The only thing that Lebo does well are his "I can't believe that call/horrible play" antics.

    ReplyDelete
  43. In an ironic twist, Auburn considered Scott Etheridge, he of NBC Universal fame, for the AD job.

    ReplyDelete
  44. He also has a knack for making his head shiny. That's all I got.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I need more Jay G. radio. That was excellent. Sugar coating? Jay G. don't do no stinking sugar coating!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. There's just no reason for Auburn to be this bad.

    ReplyDelete
  47. How is it a team can score 37 in the first half and not even sniff 20 in the second? That blows my mind. Your best defensive look against UT is the 2-3. You go back to Man and they make you look silly. You have a PG who has no idea how to run an offense and you continue to let him play.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Scott Etheridge ... the kicker that Pat Dye once described as looking "effeminate?"

    ReplyDelete
  49. Alright, serious question...can Auburn hire Tubby away from Minnesota? If not him...that guy from Oral Roberts? Anyone else have any ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  50. They are talking about how screwed Lance Thompson is now. That is a very good point. He left Bama right before an NC and now could end up unemployeed.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Good for Lance.

    Smart move....Very smart.

    ReplyDelete
  52. If Lance is as good as he thinks he is, he should have no issues getting a new gig.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Seanzie, I don't know how often you check the email address you have on your profile, but I sent you a email a few days ago...

    ReplyDelete
  54. Possible 2 year probation and TV ban for USC, as reported on 930. That is tough.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Why I don't use unnamed sources, Part 322: Oops.

    ReplyDelete
  56. USC is dirty...dirty....dirty..

And they hired a dirtbag..An entertaining one..but a dirtbag nonetheless.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Checking it Luv, will get back to you.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I hadn't considered the fact that Tennessee will have to pay these assistants for the next couple of years whether they are canned or not. Kiffikin really screwed them pretty thoroughly.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I like FSJ's suggestion of Mike Anderson. Seanzie's suggestions are good too.

What about someone in DII? It worked for UT.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Luv, I'm all for Mike Anderson, but considering how shabbily we treated him last time and how much it would cost, I'm not sure it's doable.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Malzahn interviewed for that ECU job 3 days ago, just incase skip holtz left. Between that and Angelina striking Brad i don't know what i'll do with myself. That being said CGM is not in line for a HC gig this year. It's flattering and everything that bama wants but he'll be here 2 more years. After this past year they know when they line up against him he will be prepared to win, all we need is some solid d.

    ReplyDelete
  62. It may not be.

I must admit that I am very interested in seeing the new arena. Maybe it will be a new beginning for AU basketball.

I wish Alabama had done the same thing instead of pouring $30 million into Coleman.

Now that we have added every possible seat to Bryant Denny maybe they will reconsider and build a new one. I have a feeling that a new practice facility for the basketball program is next.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Quite frankly, I won't shed too many tears if Gus leaves. I like the scheme but the play-calling leaves a lot to be desired.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Seanzie..

I agree 100%. His scheme is tough to defend.

However once he got off his script his playcalling became curious.

I don't know if it was talent or what...

    ReplyDelete
  65. Seanzie ...

Go check the bath water you just threw out. There may be a baby in there.

    ReplyDelete
  66. UT folks think Lovie Smith is next..

    ReplyDelete
  67. that's the buzz in my building FSJ.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I didn't really mean it, Gus can stay.

I do feel bad for that baby though.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Anderson scoop:

Signed a $1.3 million per year contract through 2016 back in April, after turning down $2.1 million per year to coach at Georgia.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Understand I missed a good-un on the haten radio show. Grrrr got to get up earlier if I am going to follow docs orders of walking.
I am for hiriing Anderson but sounds like that won't happen.
Sorry it would look bad and hurt Auburn's reputation and all that but I would already have a Budget moving Van in Lebo's drive way.

    ReplyDelete
  71. OK, so Mike Anderson is out. What about a DII coach? I really don't follow basketball, but are there any good coaches at that level? They can't be much worse than Lebo. Pearl was a DII coach when UT hired him. Look where he's taken that program.

    ReplyDelete
  72. He's taken it to the Boats N Hoes level fo shizzle.

But really, really good ball coach. I mean he's playing with 5 scholarship guys and walk-ons and he still blew us out of the gym.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Luv ...

A correction ... Pearl had been a DII coach previously at Southern Indiana and won a national title. But previous to coming to UT he was coach at Wisconsin-Milwaukee and made it to the NCAA tournament's Sweet 16, having beaten UAT along the way. He had also been an assistant at Iowa and Rutgers, I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Pearl did not go directly from a D-II school to UT. He was at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, which is D-I.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Thanks for the correction, Jet. But, I'm sure you get my point. Why not give a relatively unknown a chance? Like I said, can't be much worse than Lebo, if you do your homework.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jet, btw, I love how you got that "beaten UAT along the way" in there!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Jet beat me to the punch.

Btw, while watching the men's game last night, I couldn't help but think of some coaches I had growing up. Did anybody else ever have one in youth basketball or soccer that you could usually convince to stop running drills and just scrimmage instead? I'm thinking that's what happens at AU practice every day.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I must admit, I don't watch a whole lot of basketball until tourney time. You guys are always talking about the men going for the three so often. I watched the game last night and even I was getting mad at all the 3-pt attempts. What is their ratio of 3-pt shots attempted to shots made?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Last night it was awful...I think they made 1 or 2 the entire second half.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Have the reasons for Cutcliffe stiff arming the Vols already been hashed? I'm assuming it involved bringing his Duke staff. I didn't know until this morning that Ron Middleton was part of it.

    ReplyDelete
  81. We shoot 3s because we have no player over 6-foot-6 that can tie his own shoes or feed himself.

If Lebo would have just kept paying Marco Killingsworth like someone else did, then none of this would have happened.

    Excuse me, I meant "playing."

Not really. OK, maybe. Or maybe not.

    ReplyDelete
  82. LOL, Jet. It's crazy how something can be so funny and sad at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Here's the problem in Knoxville.

Herb Schnidely, aide to the assistant to the assistant athletic director for financial affairs, raised his hand in a meeting and said, "Excuse me, aren't all these assistant coaches Lane didn't take with him on 3-year contracts, including Kippy, who just started here a month ago?"

Then everyone realizes it would take another $5 million -- give or take $2 million -- to get rid of those guys.

Now, staff composition is an issue.

    ReplyDelete
  84. It's all coming out now in Knoxville.

Apparently Janzen Jackson was involved in the attempted robbery after all...

Bet they lay the cover up at Kiffin's feet...

    Uh oh

    ReplyDelete
  85. UT's best bet is to hire Kippy and ride it out. No coach worth the money is coming into a situation with half a staff in place.

    ReplyDelete
  86. that is a very $$$$$$$$$$$$$ problem

    ReplyDelete
  87. So where is Jackson in that video? I didn't see him walk up and tell anyone they had to get going or whatever his story was?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Love Kiffins remarks in his presser. We only had one arrest

    uh

    two ...uh ... maybe three

We improved on the Ucheat record of arrest by having just a few.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Any one in Auburn right now. If so can you give us an eyewitness report on any moving activity at the Lebo's residence.
ANY help here would be good

    ReplyDelete
  90. Looks like it was a busy night otherwise for the police in Knoxville. Only six squad cars showed up.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I believe Janzen goes to the backseat of the white car next to them..

    ReplyDelete
  92. I don't know how much I trust that source anyway after what Jay G posted.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Anonymous11:14 AM

I'm looking at the awful condition Kiffen has left UTk. In comparison to Tubs leaving, it makes the whining we heard from some AU fans for the past year seem like ....umm ..whining.

Ms. Hoopie has roped me into a trip to Gatlinburg this weekend. This means we're gonna be real close to Knoxvegas. I'm not a fan of G-burg, so maybe we can do a Rocky top damage tour.

    ReplyDelete
  94. If you find yourself in the Mountain Mall, tell the guys at Gatlinburlier that Smoke-Dog said wassup.

    ReplyDelete
  95. UT needs to follow some of the wisest words ever to come out of an Auburn coaches mouth.

    "Live to punt"!

Time to pay off the rest of the staff and start from scratch. This is one of the dangers of firing and hiring. You have to be willing to accept the consequences.

    ReplyDelete
  96. And I am simply amazed by how badly Kiffikin has disrespected Tennesse. Who would imagine a coach willing to leave UT to go to a school headed for probation? This is simply incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Sorry, I read Luv's comment about giving a relatively unknown a shot at the Head Coaching job....Does Lebo ring a bell :)? He was definitely an unknown unless you lived in the Noog or followed SoCon Basketball.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Who doesn't follow SoCon basketball?

    Go Mocs!

    ReplyDelete
  99. I'm surprised that Mike Hamilton has not had a freaking heart attack by now! I bet he has eaten a boat load of tums.

Is he earning his $$$$ or is his job in a downward spiral too????

    ReplyDelete
  100. I can't belief USF gets a coach when UT needs one so badly. Skip Holtz wouldn't have been a bad choice for UT.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Hamilton is simply taking his medicine. Ultimately, the Kiffin Mess is Hamilton's fault. He can either clean it up or get flushed by somebody else.

    ReplyDelete
  102. The Sports Animal and Jimmy Hyams is reporting that Derek Dooley will be named UT's head coach. They are negotiating the contract.

    ReplyDelete
  103. This is from the live radio show in Knoxville

    http://www.sportsanimal99.com/Article.asp?id=579129

    ReplyDelete
  104. In his 4 years prior to coming to Auburn, he was averaging almost 22 wins per season.

The point? Someone would have given him a chance in the SEC or ACC.

Once Chainsaw Ed messed up with Mike Anderson, we were the ones that took the chance on Lebo. It didn't work.

But someone would have taken the chance. I still believe there are places where he can be successful because of the types of scholar-athletes he can recruit to those schools. At Auburn, he's a no-go.

    Or a gotta-go.

    ReplyDelete
  105. wes,

That may indeed be correct but they've reported so many people are taking the job I think I'll have to see it to believe it.. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  106. ... or follow ACC basketball. I thought everyone knew who Lebo was.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Hey Faker,

Who do you think is at the top of the UT faithful shitosky list now:

    1. Bammers
    2. Lane "The Kid" Kiffin

    ????????

    ReplyDelete
  108. It may be bogus, but I have a lot of respect for Hyams reporting, so I tend to believe it. We'll see...

    ReplyDelete
  109. I'm with FSJ on this....this is like the 100th coach to be announced in final negotiations. I'm just upset that my resume didn't get there sooner.

    ReplyDelete
  110. missinit....

I think it is like this..

    1) Lane Kiffin
    2) Crazy Ed O
    3) Bammers
    4) Gators

    ReplyDelete
  111. Missinits:

    UT's Hated List:

    1. Lane Kiffin
    2. Ed Orgeron
    3. USCw
    4. Mike Hamilton
    5. Mattresses

    ReplyDelete
  112. FSJ,

That probably is pretty accurate bout now!!!

I bet there is some kinda hate going up up there!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  113. One more thing for the UT hate list missinit..

    5) Toothpaste

    ReplyDelete
  114. Y'all do realize that if Dooley gets the UT job that we are gonna have to hear Barbara Dooley on Finebaum more often...

    gag.

    ReplyDelete
  115. "We don't need no stinkin' resumes."

    --TN athletic department

    ReplyDelete
  116. Mike Hamilton may end up being the one most hated.

Derek Dooley is actually a pretty decent choice considering the circumstances.

    ReplyDelete
  117. How can NBC say Conan was run for "bad ratings" when Jay Leno's ratings were just as bad?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Jay G., I actually like Connan much more than Leno. I also thought he was beating Letterman in the ratings. NBC has just screwed themselves. There are other things that could have done. Insisting on putting Leno back in the late night lineup is a bad idea. Did you hear about Leno threatening to go to Fox? They have just created a huge mess.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I agree that Dooley is more impressive than some that have been mentioned. Maybe he will take his daddy with him--oh, maybe that's already been done.

I have always liked Vince and the son seems to be much like him.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I agree with Jay G about the ratings.

Steve...I'm pretty sure that after the first week that Letterman took the top spot

    ReplyDelete
  121. NBC is coming out looking like a Tennessee athletic director in this. They should have had a plan if Leno failed in prime time. Apparently they didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Hey, I'm sure most have seen this already, but I thought I would get the word out in case:

If you text the word 'Haiti' to 90999, you can donate $10 to the Red Cross for relief efforts in Haiti. The money will just be added on to your cell phone bill.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Steve the thing about it is that they EXPECTED him to not do well in the ratings. They are making money because they didn't have to spend a bunch for a drama or something like that. The problem was that the affiliates that depend on that lead in to their 10/11PM news started griping loudly.

    ReplyDelete
  124. According to ESPN, at least I think that was where I heard them say that the UT job was one of the top coaching jobs in America.

Why then do you think it is a job it seems nobody wants??

What do we not know? I honestly have not taken the time to read why those that have turned it down did so. What have been their reasons?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Conan has lost 50% of Leno's audience and is getting beat by Letterman... so apples to apples, it looks like Leno is a much better ratings draw than Conan. But Leno is getting killed at his time slot, which has led to a loss of 25% of the local news affiliates audience, which has also led to some of Conan's losses.

Basically, Leno has to be moved and dramas/reality shows put back into prime time. Now you have Leno and O'Brien sitting around. NBC brass picked Leno because he was doing great when he went off the air and Conan is still unproven.

Leno threatening to leave NBC is just PR because he looks like the bad guy right now. No way Leno ever seriously considered going anywhere else.

Conan is a million times better than Leno, but obviously someone out there is a Leno fan. Basically, NBC management sucks. Dumb to promise Conan a show 5 years in advance when Leno showed no signs of slowing down, dumb to put Leno in prime time, and dumb to put Leno back on the Tonight show for what is a short term solution. Dumb dumb dumb.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Cutcliffe couldn't bring his entire staff form Duke.

Muschamp clearly has been given a firm date on when he can expect to be the head coach there ... and he's fine with that. Texas is a better job.

Calhoun? Maybe he doesn't want the pressure. If you're thinking about going there and you see fans acting the way they did last week, why would anyone go there? Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Earlier this week, I mean.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Tech's Dooley close to becoming new Tennessee coach

    http://www.shreveporttimes.com/article/20100115/SPORTS/100115015/Tech-s-Dooley-close-to-becoming-new-Tennessee-coach

    ReplyDelete
  129. Thanks Jay G.

That's what I like about you.

    Concise and to the point.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Rumor has it in TN that Muschamp would have been the coach but Hamilton wanted a clause in the contract that he could not leave for UGA or Texas.

I don't buy this coach in waiting thing with Muschamp. I think Muschamp is waiting on UGA to can Richt.

I just want everyone to leave Auburn and their class alone. With all the upheaval in the SEC you could make the argument Auburn is the 2nd or 3rd most stable program behind Bama and Florida (?) right now.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I think Letterman ripping on Leno is kind of funny. I mean, he has gone at him hard. It's like all these years of anger boiling over since it is now pc to bash Jay. He has been waiting for this day.

I still don't understand why Jay is being painted as the bad guy. Conan used his leverage to force him out of the Tonight Show. Leno didn't want to leave. So now I am supposed to feel sorry for poor millionaire Conan because mean millionaire Leno is taking his place?

The bad guys are the execs. But it is obvious the other late nighters hate Leno. This is probably a combination of jealousy from being beaten by him in the ratings (and fear he will beat them again) and anger because from an intelligent comedic viewer's perspective, Jay Leno is stale and unfunny.

    ReplyDelete
  132. [in hangdog tone] Hey Derek, it's Mike Hamilton. Are you interested in our HC position?
[visibly perks up] You are? Really? No kidding? Man, that's great.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Sorry, Eddie, I didn't know that about Lebo, but like I said, I don't really follow basketball. Obviously, they didn't do their homework.

    ReplyDelete
  134. You can have Letterman, Leno, Connan, Kimmel...just give me Craig Ferguson.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Luv- I was just playing. At this point, I think Trunk Monkey could coach better than Lebo.

    Trunk Monkey

    ReplyDelete
  136. I like them all except for Leno.

    1. Letterman
1a. Conan (these two have switched back and forth over the years
    3. Craig Ferguson
    4. Jimmy Kimmel (though I don't know I have ever watched a show of his through. Just highlights online from time to time)
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    1004. Jay Leno

    ReplyDelete
  137. There's only one 'n' on Conan. FYI.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Kathy ESPN is also report that Derek Dooley will be the next Tenn HC

    ReplyDelete
  139. michael...who's 857?

    Just wondering.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Eddie, thanks for the Kimmel clip. That was great.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Schlabach confirms. It's gotta be true.

    ReplyDelete
  143. So we have one of Saban's buddies on Rocky Top. Interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Dooley....I bet they put a no-out clause to UGA in it, of course, Muschamp is the one heading there if Texas doesn't come thru first.

  145. "I've been waiting for you, Coach Saban. We meet again at last. The circle is now complete. W hen I left you I was but the learner. Now I am the master."

    ReplyDelete
  146. So, Derek Dooley story is being backtracked, if so.....BWAH HA HA HA HA

    ReplyDelete
  147. I have read where the Tennessee head coaching position is one of the ten most coveted jobs in college football. I guess they have the cash, but I can't believe they would be in the top 10.

    ReplyDelete
  148. E-Bro - 857 would be Dr. Lou Holtz

    ReplyDelete
  149. Steve- IF they were in the Top 10, they would have a coach by now. Mike Hamilton needs to be fired ASAP if I was a UT fan. His "search" process is a joke and let's face it, he hired Kiffin. That kills any and all good will of the Pearl hire.

    ReplyDelete
  150. The Tennessean seems to think Derek Dooley is their Huckleberry.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I agree Eddie, and Tennessee doesn't exactly have the best recruiting base. They have to recruit nationally. They don't have enough local talent with the competition.

    ReplyDelete
  152. What's the deal with everyone wanting to coach UGA. Aren't UGA & UT the same job?

    ReplyDelete
  153. Did someone suggest looking at Div-II for a bball coach? There's 300-something Div I programs, for pete's sake. Why stop at Div-II, why not go throu Div-III or NAIA? Heck, there's a good high school coach somewhere (just don't recruit his players for two years, that's now a no-no).

    ReplyDelete
  154. ehyou- UGA is a much better job. If a Nick Saban type coach came there, watch out. It has great talent in the state and could be a force similar to LSU IMO. Richt is good, but far from great.

Dooley maybe the Head guy, but its still mixed from what I read on whether that was fact or not.

    ReplyDelete
  155. That earlier video about locking monkeys in trunks reminded me of this old sketch by "The State"

    http://www.dumpalink.com/videos/MTVs-The-State-Monkey-Torture-ecd7.html

    ReplyDelete
  156. UGA= better fans, local recruiting base, and not-trashy stadium. Besides that (of which local-recruiting base is the only valid point), they're the same, yes.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Damon Evans is the guy. Dooley just hangs around and eats tacos, now. The first couple of years after he retired, that was not the case, but it is now.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Can you imagine the culture shock of going from having genuinely good, disciplined kids at Air Force to having people like Bryce Brown and Nu'Keese Richardson (RIP)? Even if you've been in an environment like that before, it's gotta suck to come back to that. I wouldn't want to take the job either is I was Calhoun.

  159. was that lt. dangle?

    ReplyDelete
  160. Indeed, it is Dangle.

Quite a few Reno 911 main peops and guests were on The State. As were the three guys in Stella.

    ReplyDelete
  161. People tell me I look like Showalter. I don't see it besides the fact that we're both tall, goofy, retarded, and dark haired.

    ReplyDelete
  162. PF, what I was implying when I said that was, why do they always think they have to go after a big name coach...sheesh you guys are tough.

    ReplyDelete
  163. So, am I correct in saying Michael > SteveFL as a live blogger?

    ReplyDelete
  164. Was that you? I was scanning through yesterday and today's comments so fast that I didn't know who said it. Sorry.

I was just kidding around, by the way...

    ReplyDelete
  165. PF - It is a badge of pride to look like showalter. Handsome and hilarious. Well, hilarious at least.

    ReplyDelete
  166. PeterF: There's just something about you these days that's just not as ... alluring.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I'll tell you one dadgum thing...

    You don't backtalk Derek Dooley...

    Dooley

    ReplyDelete
  168. That was a love tap, FSJ.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Its a gamble for UT hiring Dooley. But if they got it right, they could have him for decades to come.

I personally believe he will turn out to be a good hire. A young up and comer. Can't argue his lineage.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Eddie: Thanks for sending the Trunkmonkey clip. That's awesome!!

    ReplyDelete
  171. I think Dooley was a pretty good hire. Skip Holtz would have likely been a better choice, but Tennessee ended up pretty well off, if they got Dooley.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Alluring? Interesting choice of language there, Comm'r.

    ReplyDelete
  173. UT Rivals site (Volquest) is reporting that as of 1:30pm all signs are that Dooley is the man, but that he has not officially been extended an offer. This is just sloppy work by UT. When it gets to this point, you better have everything lined up. If Dooley backs out or is not the man, that is not good. The UT fans on that site are in melt down mode.

As for me, I think Dooley will make a fine coach. I think he will do well. Honestly the best of what they have looked at since Boom.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Ironically, I would take Dooley or Holtz over Kiffikin any day.

    ReplyDelete
  175. No problem Comm'r, that's one of my favorite youtube clips.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Alluring = the 3 Auburn hotties (a/k/a your harem).

    ReplyDelete
  177. Is Derek Dooley a done deal? I don't believe anything involving "sources" and the Tennessee coaching job, anymore...or any coaching job for that matter (unless it come from wtc's mom).

    ReplyDelete
  178. I have a Harem? Sweet. Point me in their direction, por favor. I've got work to do.

    ReplyDelete
  179. PF- Nope, at least what i'm seeing. Close, but not official.

    ReplyDelete
  180. I wouldn't call Dooley a done deal, although that Tennessean article made it seem that way. So far there have been 3 or 4 done deals. Until the university makes an announcement, nothing is certain.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Somebody page Norm.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Norm doesn't give a flip anymore.

  183. We have a new student that started her clinicals here this week. She's a "huge" UAT fan. She's NEVER been to a game. She said she was born on Bear Bryant's b-day so it's destiny that she be a UAT fan.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Oh, boy, another 10 posts about the going to another page.

    ReplyDelete
  185. I had a birthday 5 days after Bear Bryant died.

    ReplyDelete
  186. I'll take it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  187. Actually, Comm'r, I find PF more "alluring" these days. I think either the guy that used to post as PF wasn't really him or marriage definitely has been good for him.
