Tuberville to Texas Tech?

Hey everyone. Ivan Maisel, esteemed Alabamian, reports that former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville has accepted the job at Texas Tech.

Let's see what happens.

  1. Surprising they offered him or not? I guess I find it interesting to go from an offensive program to a defensive minded coach.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Hmmm, wonder where he stood with the USF job.

    ReplyDelete
  3. fascinating news, Mr Tate.

    ReplyDelete
  4. how in the world did I misplace a period like that? I hate this stupid laptop sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  5. This makes sense. It isn't the perfect place for him, but it will be interesting. Taking over one of the top programs in the nation that is troubled by a very politically incorrect coach makes sense. The real question is if Tuberville will allow the wide open offense to continue.

    ReplyDelete
  6. does this free up money at auburn

    ReplyDelete
  7. I don't believe so, BigDaddy. I am under the impression Auburn wrote Tuberville a check and that was the end of it.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I do wonder if the USF opening basically called Tech's hand. USF has become and attractive spot.

    ReplyDelete
  9. There is some serious ironic irony going on here.

    ReplyDelete
  10. thats what I was thinking but had some hope that would free up some money

    ReplyDelete
  11. The next thread I hope to see is Lebo out as Au's basketball coach. I wish him well, but in his 6th year there is no reason for Auburn to be this bad.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Agreed, CH=B. Lebo has been given a very fair chance. They may give him one more season so he gets his time in the new arena, but I am doubting it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. CJ Mosley has chosen the evil empire.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think TT-TT is a match made in hell.

    No friggin way.

    ReplyDelete
  15. SFC.

Auburn never showed any interest in Leach.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Aeronaut, what is your point?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Correction ...

"Ivan Maisel, noted UAT homer disguised as a Stanford alum ..."

    ReplyDelete
  18. Glad he found a new gig, but I can't see TT@TT for very long. Maybe he'll get to College Station eventually.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I doubt you will see TT jumping around much. It just seems to me that he wants somewhere to settle down. I certainly could be wrong, but I think he just enjoys coaching.

AU not in top 25 for next year

    ReplyDelete
  21. That charles hollis (the guy whose article you just linked to) is a pathetic lying bammer. There was no unofficial contact.

Auburn had zero interest in him, and there was no unofficial anything whatsoever...from Tubs leaving to Chizik hiring.

I was wondering what was your point when you brought up the irony part.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Interesting, but things will change once the season draws closer. A lot will depend upon what happens between now and then, but I am guessing we will be in the top 25 or close to it.

We don't have a lot of question marks on this team, but what happens at QB will influence a lot.

Whether Etheridge returns and how many of the recruits actually make it to fall camp could also influence things.

Besides, preseason polls are pretty much meaningless.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wow, they have TCU at number 6. That is pretty surprising. I don't see how you rank a team which is going through a head coaching change so high. Who knows what that team will look like next season.

Thanks for the link. It is very interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I hope it is true about Tubs going to TTU I wish him well and think he will do a good job. Smart people learn from their mistakes and I think Tubs is very smart.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's where we end that interest me!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Am I missing something about Patterson? I haven't heard about him going anywhere?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I just hope he finds a solid OC and gets to establish his defense. Tech could be very good if they can build on the talent that is there and start playing some D.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So... when do we get some good news about the basketball team? Has Lebo cleaned out his office yet?

    ReplyDelete
  29. stevefc,
TCU is not going through a coaching change... Patterson just signed an extension mid-season...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks, D. Miller. My mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  31. You will believe this, but we lost to South Carolina in basketball.

    ReplyDelete
  32. So Texas Tech boards thinks their DC will be Willis.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Lebo is very fortunant that I am not in Jacobs shoes. This SC game, at home, would have been a must win game for him to see Sunday morning as Auburn Basketball coach.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Who's going to coach the team if Lebo is fired? There is not interim lying around.

    ReplyDelete
  35. "fortunate" I can't spell good

    ReplyDelete
  36. Steve.... basketball team losing was fully expected...

kathy, I had heard that Willis was a condidate for DC at Louisville under Charlie strong... so him going to TT to be Tubs DC isn't that much of a stretch... it could happen. Watching who Tubs fills out his staff with out there will be interesting to see...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Sorry I couldn't b around earlier. I'm working both jobs today. At least the hospital here has wifi so can stay on the habotn. So do we hav an estimated fire date for Lebo yet?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Go to the nearest "Y" pick up a coach. He will do better than Lebo.
J/K He will stay to the end of this year.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Get Damian(?) Fishback to be the interim coach. Couldn't really do any worse.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Auburn looking good for Whitaker, Seastrunk
    http://blog.al.com/press-register-sports/2010/01/auburn_looking_good_for_whitak.html

I don't think Seastrunk comes to Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I don't think Jacobs would try the 'interim coach can't do any worse' theory ever again in his life.

    ReplyDelete
  42. His deal is for five years and in the range of $2 million a year, a source told ESPN.com's Chris Low.

"It's great to be back in the game again," Tuberville told ESPN.com's Ivan Maisel when reached on his cell phone in Auburn, Ala.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4811310

    ReplyDelete
  43. Congrats to Tubs. He'll do fine there.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think TT will work a lot harder at TT then he did his last few years at AU. He got complacent. I don't think he will be there.

    ReplyDelete
  45. guessing my thoughts on which job Tubs would end up with proved to be true...I just always thought he and TT seemed like a better fit than he and USF.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Tuberville, 55, became a strong candidate when it was determined he would not insist on hiring his own staff, a source told ESPN.com's Maisel. Tuberville also will not cost Tech a contract buyout.

    ReplyDelete
  47. USF and TT seem to be very similar programs. Teams with no success until the most recent regime (in USF's case thats the only regime) neither program has much class. Both are considered to be 2nd tier programs in a very talent rich state.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ugh. And I called him, too!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Probably right now xCTT is on phone with sexton discussing if tossing his name for the USF job would get him a contract extension and a raise.

    Or is it too early?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Waker and that could change if Tuberville finds a good OC and lets him do his job which I think he will do.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Maybe he was talking to ESPN when you called. See what those four letters can do for you?

...or maybe he was pissed at you for trying to rouse him from his beauty sleep at 11pm the other night and hit ignore.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think if Tuberville controls the D and let someone else control the Offense he will be successful at TT, and would have been at USF if he had done the same.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Tuberville, who didn't insist on his hiring his own staff, achieved a negotiating coup when he gained a contract clause that guarantees him three weeks off in December for duck hunting.

    ReplyDelete
  54. JGT - re: 3:15 post...

Lebo Sr would be the obvious choice ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  55. THT-Lebo Sr. would not stay if his son was canned. I'm pushing the Fishback as interim thing.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm on the Lebo Sr., interim Express.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Tuberville, 55, became a strong candidate when it was determined he would not insist on hiring his own staff, a source told ESPN.com's Maisel. Tuberville also will not cost Tech a contract buyout.

    Take that, Jay Jacobs.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lebo Sr named interim coach. Leads AU to a .500 SEC record, gets named AU coach, hires his son as an ass't.

No, I don't think so, either.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'm for a change ... but announce it late Feb., then crank up the search ... Jay G's right. There's no interim nearby. Fishback has never coached, has he?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Freep ...

What that tells me is that he was desperate to coach to hand over the staff. As for Jay Jacobs, he has about as much to do with Tubs' buyout as you did.

I'm happy he's employed, but I'm not optimistic about his success at Tech. Then again, my lack of Tubs love is known in these parts.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I thought we weren't going to discuss former AU coaches anymore ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  62. no fishback has never coached, but what a great chance for him. The team isn't going to do anything this year. So what could it possibly hurt?

    ReplyDelete
  63. well, I suppose we have to allow a temporary lifting of that gag order or there will be no more thread.

    ReplyDelete
  64. D.Miller is right about Willis and Louisville.

The word on the UA boards was that Louisville was interested in him.

    Willis to TT make sense.

    ReplyDelete
  65. We have a new arena and 6 pretty good recruits for next year. I think this is a pretty attractive job for next year.

    ReplyDelete
  66. "Probably right now xCTT is on phone with sexton discussing if tossing his name for the USF job would get him a contract extension and a raise. "

I bet the thought has crossed both of their minds.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Jet, I seem to recall that Tubs' last renegotiation after the '07 season caused some serious disagreement on the whole 'buyout' thing - as in, Tubs wanted AU on the hook but himself off of it. That may just be unfounded rumor, but it sounds plausible.

The whole 'I won't make any staff demands' promise definitely feels a slap in AU's face.

    ReplyDelete
  68. And I agree, I'm happy for him if it's what he wants. He deserves a tremendous amount of credit for that fantastic 2004 season, no matter what happened before or after that.

But I have my doubts whether he'll ever achieve even the level of success that Leach did at TTU.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Great....Home alone with the 2yr old till the am and I think I just broke my foot. Running around playing and stepped on a big blue ball and heard a pop.

    ReplyDelete
  70. get ice on it and elevate. You got any family nearby?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Uh oh CH=B. No one you can call to take you to a doc-in-the-box?

    ReplyDelete
  72. CH=B,
Do what THT said and add taking an anti-inflammatory. It will hurt less if you can keep the swelling down.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Just got back from Auburn (it was wonderful!!) At the Auburn Wal-Mart I only saw 2 bammies. But, we stopped at the Wal-Mart in Sylacauga for some Ben & Jerry's and that place was covered up! I never saw so many bammies in one place in my life!

    ReplyDelete
  74. I can walk and move my toes it's just really sore. Wish I could elevate it but one key part of my post was "Home alone with TWO YEAR OLD". She is a hand full and doesn't sit for more than 30-40 seconds at a time. Going to throw on some Baby Einstein and see if I can get a few minute break.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I propose from this post forward all bammers shall be referred to as Walmartians.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Anonymous4:57 PM

Cincy they are all practicing to go to Wally World Gardendale tomorrow!!

    checking their wardrobes and such

    ReplyDelete
  77. Why do you have to have an interim coach on staff?
Run a promotion to increase attendance... 10 minutes prior to every game, a random fan could be chosen as the coach for that night's game.... What would be the difference?

    ReplyDelete
  78. JG - After listening to Joe Ciampi on the radio. I would fire Lebo and insert Coach Ciampi

    ReplyDelete
  79. Rub some dirt on it and walk it off boy.

    ReplyDelete
  80. And we do have a perfectly good interim coach available. Her name is Nell.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I tried to go to Dick's Sporting Goods and Academy today searching for a particular item that wifey wanted....

Holy crap that was a mistake. I am certain both establishments had exceeded the fire code with people buying champeenship gear and houndstooth undies (yes, disturbing)... but, I only saw about 6 teeth in the whole bunch...

Needless to say, I didn't get what I went for, and it took me 2 hours to get out... for a while today, that was my own personal little hell....

    ReplyDelete
  82. This should make it feel better...

    ReplyDelete
  83. Since the boys seem to play like girls I think a girls coach would do just fine. Might also teach them some DDDDDDDDDDDDDefense

    ReplyDelete
  84. I sprayed some windex on it. I think I am fine. Walmartians anyone? There goes the timer, just fixed the future AU womens golfer some cheesburger mac. Anyone want some?

    ReplyDelete
  85. FYI- Seastrunk and Whittaker both seen wearing AU hats at the AA game.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Love the Windex treatment! I haven't fixed cheeseburger mac in forever. We are having a California Pizza Kitchen white cheese and spinach pizza with Ben & Jerry's ice cream for dessert.

Golfing is the way to go. Big scholarships for girls.

    ReplyDelete
  87. And CH=B, love WalMartians!

    ReplyDelete
  88. CH=B looking for a picture of those guys sporting the AU hat.

    Walmartians is good.

    ReplyDelete
  89. http://www.auburntron.com/2010/01/09/leaked-photos-from-army-aa-game/

    ReplyDelete
  90. Check that I was better until the FAUWG ran into my foot with her plastic shopping cart. Cincy are you gloating about the B&J's?

    ReplyDelete
  91. scooped by Miller. So it's official from now on bammers are to be called walmartians. I'm sure that will last just like the no talking about ex-coach thing. Even G broke the rules. We need someone to step up and keep track of the violations.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Dinner time. see you guys later.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Luper hasn't called him in 3 weeks.

And what's up with this? "*NOTE** latt left the field pissed about something, didn’t stick around for interviews or pics. "

    ReplyDelete
  94. Is it possible that we get Lattimore AND Seastrunk??? What would Gus do with THAT backfield??

    ReplyDelete
  95. Re: Lebo- Why are we worried about coaching experience for our interim coach? Our current one appears not to have coached basketball for several years.

Re: recruits at all-star games wearing AU hats- From reading the notes that went along with the photos, it looks like they were enjoying attention from AU fans more than they were expressing undying devotion to the Auburn Creed and all it stands for. High school seniors can be attention whores, is all I'm sayin'. I wouldn't read too much into it.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Lache's family was wearing the purple, so I don't think he's coming to AU, and I'm not sure AU is pursing him any longer.

    ReplyDelete
  97. 2ndaid- I agree but it can't be a bad thing either.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Latt and Whitaker are in the bag.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Seastrunk is not in AU's plans.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Add Mack to that bag also

    ReplyDelete
  101. CH=B,
I hope we do get Mack. Not sure why I want his so badly, but I do.

    ReplyDelete
  102. If Lebo even had a reasonable showing the last few years it would be a diff. story...

    BUT

    We are just bad....

    ReplyDelete
  103. Anonymous5:57 PM

Lebo had some incredibly bad luck his first few years and I was willing to give him a pass.

I don't follow BBall very closely, but even I can see how poorly coached we are. That's really not excusable after 5 full years and 1/3 way into the 6th.

    ReplyDelete
  104. cincy if you have room in your bag add lemonier to that. I think we finishe with Latt, Mack, Whitaker, Lemonier, Beasley and B. Jones. Top 5 class that will win a MNC before they leave Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  105. no e on finsh but you know what I mean.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Just so you know ... I love Joe Ciampi and I wish he was still coaching so my daughter could play for him.

If he was coaching at Alaska-Fairbanks, I'd send her out there to play for him.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Hoopie, I loved Lebo when he came. He let some problem children go and cleaned house. He then dealt with depth and injuries without complaining. Then last year I thought we had finally turned a corner. Then he signs a very respectable class in the early period this year. With all that said the product that is on the court right now is horrible and for that I don't think he can last another year. Mike Anderson come on down.

    ReplyDelete
  108. G-how old is your daughter?

    ReplyDelete
  109. CH=B,
    I have a very big bag :)

    ReplyDelete
  110. Anonymous6:09 PM

Tubs is regarded as a very good coach most everywhere ...except in certain Auburn circles. Lowder and his cronies spread rumors, inuendo and exaggerations for years. Some AU folks eventually fell for it and started believing anything they heard. CEO's understand how to use disinformation. Arthur Blank BS'd the Atlanta folks regarding Petrino in the same way.

Tubs is more suited to a aTm type situation, than in Lubbock. We'll see how this goes. If it doesn't go well, he will probably fade into the sunset.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Hoopie,that's 5 HABOTN $$$$.

    ReplyDelete
  112. acutally 10 HABOTN $..you said it twice.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Look at all these rumors ... surroundin' me every day ... I just need some time ... some time to get away ... from all these rumors

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'm just constantly amazed that a guy who learned under Dean Smith always has a team that just jacks up random shots and can't hit free throws.

We are generally lousy in fundamentals under Lebo.

In Chattanooga the Mocs just shot 3 after 3 under Lebo as well.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Hoopie, I'd be more inclined to believe that the 'rumors, inuendo and exaggerations' were just that, if it weren't for the fact that the same thing happened to Tubs while he was at Ole Miss.

Had a close relative tell me that Tubs was getting the AU job before Bowden had even quit. How did he know? He knew the pilot who flew him to Montgomery to meet with Lowder to talk about it.

As Tubs himself said, "It's a business."

    ReplyDelete
  116. I just read where Arkansas' offensive line coach Mike Summers will be taking a similar position at Kentucky. When is the last time Kentucky swiped a coach from Arkansas?

    ReplyDelete
  117. It is interesting that Tuberville had a better record at Auburn than Leach had at Tech over a similar time frame and scenario. I didn't realize that.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Steve- Texas Tech was basically nothing before Leach got there, so the fact that Tubs record was better at Auburn is not surprising at all. Make no doubts about it, Leach was the best coach that Texas Tech ever had. He built the program to where it is. Can Tubs take it any further? We will see. It will be quite an accomplishment if he can win a championship there...I don't think he will.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I'd say it's harder to win a conference championship at Texas Tech than it is at Auburn.

However, Tubs could bring some D to that team and that would make a huge difference as they are used to winning shootouts.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I imagine Arky is a tough place to be a o line coach, they do things differently then virtually every other program out there. Plus you have to deal with slime ball Petrino.

    ReplyDelete
  121. What Leach did at TTU would be comparable to Dan Mullen winning 85 games in his first 10 years at MSU.

Not impossible, but not terribly likely either.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I just wonder who will be hired as TTU's offensive coordinator. That will make or break Tubs there.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Freep ...

Tubs had agreed to be Auburn's next coach -- in 1997. He was a good coach who had a couple of great seasons, had an incredible agent, and got very complacent.

It's not an uncommon story in football.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Eddie, we were nothing before Tubs got there.

As for Texas Tech, I seriously find it hard to believe that even anyone with a passing knowledge of football would believe they play a tougher schedule than Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Rk- If Tubs was smart, he should try to keep most of the offensive staff intact and gut the defensive staff IMO. I would keep the OC who it was, even though I know Leach was calling the shots, I think the guy who has been with Leach for awhile can pretty much run a pretty good offense similar to what Leach was doing.

    ReplyDelete
  126. One of the truly fun parts is people that are really uneducated enough to believe Tuberville was complacent. The firing of Borges and hiring of Franklin isn't something a complacent coach would do. It is laughable to say otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Steve- I'm going to pretend you just didn't say that...

No offense, but as bad as we were STEVE, we were in the SEC Championship game just a year before Tubs was named HC. That is an idiotic statement for even you Steve.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Uhh, SFC. . .you wanna recant that 'we were nothing before Tubs got there' comment?

    ReplyDelete
  129. Ridiculous comment Steve. Auburn went undefeated once already in the 90's before Tubs got there. Auburn is a higher level program now than we were when he got here, but Auburn was definitely on a higher level than Tech.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I really don't know enough about the Texas Tech coaching staff to guess at what changes should be made. I do know that they will have a tough time if Tuberville goes back to his conservative offensive ways. College football has changed and I believe Tuberville was attempting to change with it. We will just have to see.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Wakerider, we were pathetic when Tuberville got there. Bowden simply was not a recruiter. Without Craig, he would have failed much sooner.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Steve- I think you have taken a step back tonight in credibility. Comparing Auburn to Texas Tech...please.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Yes, we were in the SECCG the year before, mainly because of Craig. But do you remember the 3-8 team? Hello!!! Was anyone around for that season. When is the last time an Auburn team went 3-8? That was pathetic and Bowden's recruiting had a lot to do with it.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Steve- We were pathetic Tubs last year too...how do you judge that?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Eddie, I pointed out that Tuberville had a better record under similar circumstances. If you can't grasp it, I do understand.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Insert Tuberville with Bowden in your last statement and they both ring about the same.

Look, Leach made Tech what it is. Auburn was way great before Bowden or Tubs got there. Enough of this stupid argument.

    ReplyDelete
  137. It's great to be a moron!

    ReplyDelete
  138. Fact: Tubs won exactly 68% of his games in 10 seasons at AU.

Here are AU's overall winning percentages prior to the Tuberville Era, over selected time periods.

    10 years (1989-98): 67.7
    25 years (1974-98): 67.1
    50 years (1949-98): 64.8

Now the same for Texas Tech, where Leach won 66.4 of his games.

    10 years (1989-98): 53.9
    25 years (1974-98): 51.2
    50 years (1949-98): 51.5

Which HC performed significantly higher than his respective school's historic average, Tubs or Leach?

I think the answer's pretty clear.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Eddie, we were bad, but not nearly as bad as the record indicated. Look at the results. Look at how many close games we lost.

Yes, I have said Tuberville made mistakes and it is probably good he left. The environment at Auburn and the fair weather fans made it so. He took a chance in going to a more open offense. He made mistakes in not allowing Franklin to live or die by Franklin's decisions. He meddled and paid for it.

Man, I can't believe we are having this same silly conversation over again. Please read the old blogs and get caught up.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Geeze, can I find a way to blow a hole in that argument? Let me see? Look at the schedules each team play.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I wish I could read!

    ReplyDelete
  142. No Steve, you just compared what Mike Leach did at Texas Tech to being the same thing Tubs did at Auburn in the context that Auburn was nothing before Tubs got there, because Texas Tech was a bottom feeder before Leach. I think you need to re-read your comments. If i'm so wrong, why is everybody on you about this? Good grief. Implying that Tubs is the greatest coach at Auburn is insane.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Well, let me see if I can point out a lie here?

Please reference where I said that Tuberville was the greatest coach at Auburn. If not, admit yourself a liar.

    ReplyDelete
  144. We're off to see the Wizard!
    The wonderful Wizard of Tubs!
    Because! Because! Because! Because! Because!
Because the wonderful things that he does!

    ReplyDelete
  145. Ok Steve, i'm a liar:

Eddie's Comment "Make no doubts about it, Leach was the best coach that Texas Tech ever had. He built the program to where it is."

Steve's reply: "Eddie, we were nothing before Tubs got there."

Yepp, I'm a big fat liar.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Quick ... someone dial 911 ... Eddie's pants are on fire!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Look I liked Tubs, I wasn't necessarily happy when he was fired. I now believe we are better off with Chizik than we would be so it worked out. But in anyway comparing Auburn pre tubs and Texas Tech pre pirate boy is insane.

Auburn was a decent program who had recent success, Texas Tech was a bad program with no history of success.

    ReplyDelete
  148. "Eddie, we were nothing before Tubs got there."

    Wow, just wow.

  149. Jet- I remember something my Algebra teacher in High School told me..."Eddie, Go Argue with the Pole."...I guess i finally found that pole.

  150. Funny to hear Auburn fans talking about how history matters. I was talking about when Tuberville arrived. I was not talking about previous seasons. I was talking about the condition of the Auburn football team was in when Tuberville got to Auburn. I am sorry that I must spell it out for you.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Steve...can you even spell?

    ReplyDelete
  152. Sorry, SFC, I think you lost this argument when you said "we were nothing before Tubs got there."

    ReplyDelete
  153. Eddie, you have already admitted yourself a liar, so your opinion no longer matters. And if your tiny brain isn't able to look at my text and determine if I can spell you are not as intelligent as I gave you credit for being.

Step up folks for the HABOTN family feud ... where's Richard Dawson when you need him?

    ReplyDelete
  156. Freep, 3-8 is about the close thing to nothing that I have seen at Auburn. Anyone know when the last time our record was worse than that?

    ReplyDelete
  157. Where is the hidden camera...I've been punk'd.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Jay-I did nto go back to read the other posts. What is up with the press row you were at today. Much better seating, I thought, for you.

    ReplyDelete
  159. WTC- what do you think it will take for Auburn basketball to be competitive?

    ReplyDelete
  160. Wow, it's a HABOTN war that I can't catch the blame for making the initial comment.

It truly is a new year.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I am sad PF is missing this.

    ReplyDelete
  162. In 1950 we were 0-10. That would qualify.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Dwayne Reed show really stinks. He takes AU out of any offense they could have. Waller gets one 3 point attempt in the 2nd half. Not sure if F.Sullivan got many shots in the 2nd half. Reed scored but took WAY too many shots. Lebo should bench him.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Steve, are you arguing with yourself now?

    ReplyDelete
  165. Steve- Comparing Texas Tech Pre Leach to Auburn Pre-Tubs historically is the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard you made, and trust me, that is a long list to be atop of.

    ReplyDelete
  166. 1952 would also qualify. We were 2-8 in Shug's second season.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I'm guessing this rules out any chance of a Home and Home series with TTU?

    ReplyDelete
  168. Steve, I think you are winning the argument with yourself. No wait.

    ReplyDelete
  169. HABOTN it rarely disappoints me.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Okay, to spell it out again, I was comparing the Auburn team in the condition is was when Tuberville arrived to the condition of Texas Tech's team when Leach arrived. It was very similar. Try reading it again Eddie.

    ReplyDelete
  171. No Steve, you responded to the comment I made about Leach being the best coach Texas Tech ever had. You go read again. Put your huge waste of space brain to use. I just make do with the tiny one i've got.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Okay Steve, You DO win the argument with yourself. Game over. Let's move on to something else.

    ReplyDelete
  173. When Tuberville arrived at Auburn we were coming off the worst season we have had in my lifetime. To somehow think it was great seems ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  174. War over.

Ease back. Cowboys and Eagles are on.

  176. Steve, Don't take it to overtime.

  177. Next topic: Hottest SEC coach's wife.

    Nominations?

    ReplyDelete
  178. Eagles...Interception stand? I hope so. Go Eagles!

    ReplyDelete
  179. Who can we blame for starting this?

    ReplyDelete
  180. SFC, "nothing" would be inheriting a program that hadn't had a 10-win season in 25 years, had only won more than 7 games in a season once in the previous decade, and was on NCAA probation (including scholarship sanctions and multiple forfeits of the few games they had won on the field).

That's what Leach inherited at Texas Tech. You want to compare that to AU when Tuberville took over?

    ReplyDelete
  181. Do you mean before Tuberville came?

    ReplyDelete
  182. Hmmm, haven't really checked out many coaches wives, but I do understand that Kiffikin's wife was willing to show off what she had more than most.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Jet- Texas Tech for hiring Tubs.

UH-OH the Boss is here play nice :-)

    ReplyDelete
  185. OK boys, mommy says it's time to stop arguing. Let's find something fun to talk about - like who we are going to get in our recruiting stocking :)

    ReplyDelete
  186. Sorry, JGT, didn't see that time had been called. I'll put away my facts.
