A-Day (possibly) coming to a TV near you

Hey everyone. Just a quick note to say that Auburn's A-Day game, scheduled for April 17, has been picked up by ESPNU. I'm sure this is great news to the 2% of you who have ESPNU in HD and can watch America's Game as it should be watched.

To the other 98% of you, I say: Come to Jordan-Hare.

This is big-time news for the HOTTIES who live a long way from here. That group includes AK (aka 61 degrees), Scottie in Tucson, Jimmy, THT and his proteges, AU1, Peter, jhag and others.

The game starts at 1 p.m.

  2. Rumor is Jhag will commit at A-Day.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Great CGM article, jay.

    ReplyDelete
  4. And I know you have that on good authority, Jet.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I'll be watching the Newton science expirement.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm also in that 2 percentile demographic so sweet!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yes!!! I shall tune in. Now, lets make it a real football game. A-Day should be Gus against Ted with the Chiz officiating. I want football. I need football. I love football. Play ball!!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. And yes, I do have ESPNU in HD. Man, I use to watch Auburn on the radio. You know what kind of crappy resolution that is. I am stoked!!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Jay G, do you know if they are going to use that strange scoring system again or do they always use that? Last year was the first A-Day I ever attended.

    ReplyDelete
  10. PUPPET HOUR!!!! AAAHHHH!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. You guys are a bunch of quitters.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I expect the strange scoring system.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Never, never, never, never give up.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Quitters are ninnyish.

    ReplyDelete
  15. It's like Jimmy V say (via Emmitt Smith), "Don't quit. Don't ever quit."

    ReplyDelete
  16. Can I quit cleaning house, now? I think I have given it the good college try. I think I could be good at quitting!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hopefully the coaches will think outside the box for the spring game just like they do with other things. I have a couple of ideas that may help.

Allow the band to provide sound effects, like a drum roll prior to a snap.

Have special cheers for penalties, such as a false start. I can here it now. Give me a Z, give me an i, ..... What's that spell? False Start!!! Say it again. False Start!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Dang right I got a random shoutout.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Auburn basketball subscribes to the strange scoring system.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sometimes, I like to walk around full parking lots and decks. After someone follows me around a floor thinking a spot is going to open, I look over my shoulder, act surprised, and say "oh, I'm not leaving yet." The dejection on their faces should make me sad, but instead I smile.

    ReplyDelete
  21. You know what I like to do, PF? I like to stand in front of those souvenir penny smashing machines and tell people who walk up, "You know, there are machines that can smash people too."

    ReplyDelete
  22. I've never seen you, and I collect those as momentos because they're cheaper than postcards. Which penny smashing machines exactly do you frequent?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mary Kate Olsen is now smooching with Josh Hartnett, much to the chagrin of Nate Lowman.

    ReplyDelete
  24. PF, I hang out by all of them, pretty much. You have probably seen me, you just don't know what I look like.

    ReplyDelete
  25. jgt/Homer/Sportswriter Tate - I guess you figure if I go to the trouble to drive almost 4 hours just to have lunch that I'm not too far away to make it to AU for A-Day. Even though I'm in the 2%, I just might make it down and bring F4*.

PF - I used to like walk out to my vehicle in a crowded parking lot or deck and if I knew someone wanted my spot I'd start it up and back up just a bit. Then I'd pull forward, put it in Park, get back out and go back into the store. Oh, the laughs I got from that one.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Finally ESPNU in HD for something I want to watch. I finally got it right after the college football season ended.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ben, if you're new, welcome. If you're not new, well, where've you been lately?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Alright yay. This is good news

    ReplyDelete
  29. JayGT - thanks for this awesome news! I'm giddy with excitement that I don't have to drive 1,000 miles for a scrimmage. But the chance to HABOTNize may be too great to keep me home.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi Ben. Welcome and WARRRR EAGLE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks Jay. I do have ESPNU in HD and will set the DVR to record it. Gotta keep indoctrinating my kids any way I can because we don't get to many games on campus. It's a rather long drive...

    ReplyDelete
  32. It will be live on ESPNU then replayed on CSS 4000 times over the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Games at Washington would be a long drive for you.

    ReplyDelete
  34. WTC, Know anything about Jordan Prestwood

    ReplyDelete
  35. yep, by car it's 2,292 miles from Anchorage to Bellingham, WA.

    Kayak would be more direct.

    ReplyDelete
  36. 4,430 mile drive (one way) to Auburn.

Ugh, US down 0-2 to the Canadians in Women's ice hockey gold medal game :-(

    ReplyDelete
  37. I just found out University of Alaska is a 10 time NCAA rifle champion. West Virginia has 14. Jacksonville State also has a championship. Army only has 1, I feel like they should have more than that.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The crack rifle program is actually at UAF (that's Univ of Alaska in Fairbanks.) Several Olympic medals from that program last Olympics.

Also, there's one player from the Anchorage area on the women's hockey team. Hope they can come back for the win.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wake-He is a big tight end or a small tackle. 6'6" 250lbs) He plays TE in high school. He has only played it one year. I know he visited AU last weekend and is very high on AU. Says he does not care if he plays OT or TE, he just wants to play.

AU looking at him as a TE.

I haven't heard too much else on him. Not ready to put him in the 'coming to AU' column just yet.

    ReplyDelete
  40. And it is a looooong drive to Alaska.

Think of it this way: If you drove from Alabama to Montana, you'd only be halfway here.

And when I moved up here from north Florida, I drove a 40-foot U-Haul the entire way.

    In winter.

With a cast on my right foot.

    And no cruise control.

And my mother and aunt along for the ride.

But it was a nice trip...

    ReplyDelete
  41. What's up poople... How's it drippin?

    Anything good on tv tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think the kids from Gadsden are not coming to AU. Even though one is a life long AU fan. Chizik is giving up on Gadsden area, which is good. I would be surprised if either of them came to AU.

    ReplyDelete
  43. He goes to my high school's rival, my mom apparently knows his mom.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Right now, I would say AU lands the Regions kid and Dismukes kid (both OL)
Probably get the kid named Erique FLorence.
I think the Frazier kid at QB comes to AU also.
Look for an OL from Arky and AZ also.
AU takes only 4 OL this year.

    ReplyDelete
  45. WAKE-he is a good player and AU would like to get him.

    ReplyDelete
  46. It's 48 miles from the Hangar in East Vaughngumpery to Jordan-Hare.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow...just saw that Steve Ensminger was hired to coach TE's at LSU. That is surprising. The hat is continue on his plan to bring LSU back to Dinardo level. I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I thought Ensminger had joined Tubs at Tubby Tech?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Farmer Fran is goin' home.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Miller- He did, but he is leaving Tubs for the Mad Hatter.

    ReplyDelete
  51. That has to sting... I wonder if he secretly stole the bbq recipe when he left?

    BTW,
Is Daren Bates moving to LB?

    ReplyDelete
  52. 61, was it uphill in the snow the entire way?

WTC, I don't think Chiz will give up on Gadsden just yet. It's a fertile area in the state.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I sure hope Chiz doesn't give up on Gadsden. Don't ever give up.

US Women need to get some goals. Still trailing 0-2 heading into 3rd period. It's on MSNBC for those who want to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  54. We need to clean up Fake Vegas.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Chizik doesn't seem like the type that would QUIT on Gadsen

    ReplyDelete
  56. Michael,

I know exactly what you look like. All Irish heritaged people look alike, even if they don't have any Irish in them...besides, nobody's ever talked to me about the human crushing machine, and I'm certain you'd say it to a guy like me.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I got a call tonight from a friend/source in Louisiana about Ensminger.

    I was like Steve Ensminger?

I thought he had gone to Texas Tech as well.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Won't be able to attend but certainly will be watching.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Chiz - Gadsden's not over. Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go! What the f*** happened to the AU I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? This could be the greatest night of our lives, but you're gonna let it be the worst. "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you 'Chiz', we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my @$$ from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. $atan, he's a dead man! Meyer, dead! Miles...

Gus - Dead! Chiz's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these b*******. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.

Chiz - We're just the guys to do it.

    Trooper - Let's do it.

    Chiz - LET'S DO IT!

    War Eagle

  60. Norm either had his red bull, 5 hour energy, adderall or whatever drug tonight. Nice work

    ReplyDelete
  61. jhag,
I always thought Norm was so mild mannered. Just goes to show you...

    ReplyDelete
  62. Heck, I want whatever it is if it will get me that fired up!

    ReplyDelete
  63. You didn't realize Norm was a hard core blow user, did you? Looks like there was an extra long line tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'm gonna watch it in HD and be there...at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  65. cincy.
You don't want what Norm has.

    ReplyDelete
  66. The news is funnier in Creole.

    ReplyDelete
  67. No illicit drugs or artificial stimulants for me.

    ReplyDelete
  68. How about elicit drugs?

    ReplyDelete
  69. The University of Kentucky is playing on ESPN2 currently.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Norm ...

I suggest we get the HOTTIE E@T M# Cake and drive down Meighan Boulevard in Fake Vegas.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Norm works for a drug company - he gets his stash for free. They make nice band aids too.

    ReplyDelete
  72. API; we have you covered from the lowly tongue depressor, to the robots used in surgeries, imaging machines, all the software to run hospitals and pharmacies and the hardware to run all of it. Oh yeah, we're a pharmaceutical company too.

    ReplyDelete
  73. very excited about ADay in general. Great news to hear we're on tv after the announcement that our friends to the northeast already got picked up.

This is also mentioned before any word of UGA or UF's spring game being televised. Weagle weagle.

    ReplyDelete
  74. UNCJeff???

Where did that come from? Are you new to HABOTN? If so, welcome!
If not, blame my oversight on senility.

    are you a Tar Heel?

    - - - - -

I'm so old I've got to go to sleep even though we're within sight of my favorite post. I'd be obliged if someone would cover for me. Good night, Hotties. Sweet AU dreams!!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. wow, If I had realized everyone else went to bed before me, I would have turned the lights off.

Good morning, Hotties! Rise & shine!!!

    WARRRRRR EAGLE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. morning Hotties.. THTfirst and last post... impressive sir!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Morning, Hottieeeeeessss! Getting ready to leave for Auburn :^)

    ReplyDelete
  78. have a safe trip, Cincy.

wartiger, are you still in MA?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Ok, the Every Day should be Saturday link from yesterday was great.

    ReplyDelete
  80. This has to be killing THT. To have to monitor the blog in the early morning and wait a long time in between posts to get to the elusive #88 post.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Your absolutely right, Eddie. They've had to sedate me.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I'll help hurry that along for him then by saying howdy to you all.

    ReplyDelete
  83. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  84. well, that was an epic fail by someone.

    ReplyDelete
  85. THT- I screwed the pooch there. Mis-keyboard management on my part. I started typing and hit enter and it posted. Damn damn damn. I appologize. I was evening trying to set it up. I'm terrible at it.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'll see y'all shortly at work. Lazy Luv ;-) should be up pretty soon to pick up the slack.

    ReplyDelete
  87. even not evening.

I have the worst grammar when I post on here and don't proof read. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Eddie - the willingness of the Hotties to help out a BEASLEY!!! addict more than compensates for the occasional oopsy-daisy.

    ReplyDelete
  89. for those of you who can't make it to JHS or have ESPNU, come on over. hotties are always welcome. i guess i'm in the 2% that have it in HD. sweeeeeeet.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I was going to say "No one says 'oopsy-daisy,' but that would be admitting that Mrs. Jet has made me watch "Notting Hill."

    D'oh.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Jet- Just be sure to repeat a few more times as you try to get over the fence.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Ho hum. I see we're off to a blistering start to a Friday.

    ReplyDelete
  93. LSU hired Steven Ensminger as a TE coach.

The beginning of the end for them has arrived, heh, heh, heh.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Morning, peeps.

Headed to Mass then gym then a school function. It's a hard-knock life, I know.

USA Hockey's Olympic semifinal is at 2 p.m. today. I'll be around for that.

This afternoon, I'll post some hilarious comments I got last night from Tay Waller. He's been playing really, really well lately and he has a great sense of humor about it.

The men play LSU on Saturday ... around 6. WE'LL BE THERE.

Women close out the regular season Sunday against UK. May or may not attend that one.

    ReplyDelete
  95. some live blog hockey would be great, JGT. I'll be stuck at work and can't watch :-(

    ReplyDelete
  96. I love that Ensminger was hired at LSU. He really has nine lives.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Good morning, Hotties! It's Friday and I have the day off! Yay for me! I officially rolled out of bed at 7:10 and now I'm enjoying a leisurely cup of coffee, which I don't get to do if I have to work.

So, what do you Hotties think about the way the Canadian Women's Hockey Team celebrated their gold medal victory?

    ReplyDelete
  98. Tar Heel, you're at work now and you'll still be at work tonight? But, it's Friday!!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Ensminger, always a last second hire for college and HS assistant jobs.

    ReplyDelete
  100. But, why him??? What has he done for the TEs that's so special?

    ReplyDelete
  101. He's a warm body with experience. There's no way they expect him to be a game-changer.

    ReplyDelete
  102. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  103. It's official, Tim Tebow is a top 10 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

The Jags won the coin toss with the Bears to decide 10/11.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I got the super sport 930 feed to actually WORK.

Don't Forget Hotties, Hatin with Jay G on at 10:05.

I wonder if JGT can hate and cardio at the same time???

    ReplyDelete
  105. If Timmy goes to the Jags, then Mike Shula gets to live his dream of coaching Tebow.

My question, does that make him happy or does he weep????

    ReplyDelete
  106. JGT,

If you get a chance today, give Biff some mad props for giving Ron Franklin mad props for being the best CFB announcer.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Jeremy, they smoked cigars and drank beer on the ice for over an hour. I don't have a problem with it. They won the gold medal for their country IN their own country! Of course, the IOC is frowning on their actions.

    ReplyDelete
  108. If he's anything like Mark Ingram he will bawl like a baby.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Luv - US hockey plays this afternoon. I'll be home tonight.

Unfortunately, I'll be at work most of the weekend :-( and will miss gold medal hockey on Sunday afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Has anyone heard anything about Darren Bates moving to LB? If so that gets a resounding WTH from this guy.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Tar Heel, oops! I guess I was thinking about the bball game. I forgot, you are the HOCKEY fan! You should DVR it and stay away from the HABOTN and tell everyone you work with to not tell you who won.

    ReplyDelete
  112. But you take a starting all-SEC freshman @ Safety...and move him to second string LB?

    ReplyDelete
  113. I agree with, Seanzie. Bates can only get better at safety. We need him at that position, don't we?

    ReplyDelete
  114. Or maybe he starts over Eltoro, who knows. I don't get paid to make the decisions but I get to second guess for free.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Seanzie - what's with "join diet coke in the support of women's heart health programs"?

where's the man love? does coca-cola won't all males to just up and crump from a heart attack?

    ReplyDelete
  116. Tar Heel, I've never heard of it, but I'm going to venture a guess and say it's because the public doesn't know a whole lot about Women's heart health. Even though it's (I think) the #1 killer, it's symptoms present so differently than men's. This is probably to promote awareness.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Brought the laptop to class today, it might get wild for me on the HABOTN

    ReplyDelete
  118. THT, I'm sorry if you're feeling excluded. I think the assumption is heart disease as a problem for men is well documented and has a much larger awareness factor than the risks of heart disease in women. That's all.

Also, the big demo for Coke Zero is men and that's where they focus the majority of their ad dollars.

    ReplyDelete
  119. If Bates gets moved, I trust the that coaches know what they are doing.

Bates played well as a freshman, but it wasn't like our secondary outside of Walt was lighting the world on fire.

    ReplyDelete
  120. C-C also probably realizes that most men are too stubborn, lazy, or otherwise just noncompliant to benefit from a heart health program.

    ReplyDelete
  121. A Facebook post from a former GF, whom I'm glad I didn't see longer than a few months:

``Okay, Fritz is going BONKERS at the backdoor so I go take a look and there is a whole freakin pack of coyotes (I counted at least 8) coming up from the creek! I don't have time to get the rifle out & loaded so I grab Hunter's paintball gun and go to shooting which splits the pack into hauling booty in different directi...ons....I have REALLY got to get that rifle ready for when they come back by!!"

    ReplyDelete
  122. Radio show coming up.

    New thread in a sec.

    ReplyDelete
  123. When did we start talking about living healthy? I was too busy stuffing my face with fatty foods at my stationary job to notice.

    ReplyDelete
  124. As promised seconds ago ... New Thread UPZ.

    ReplyDelete
  125. WERK, the coaches do know more about the sport than I do (and all of you do too), but they did the same thing with my boy, Will Herring, and I just don't think he was as good at LB as he was Safety.

    ReplyDelete
  126. The A-Day game will also be available online via ESPN360.

    ReplyDelete
