I am on a mandated and unpaid furlough as required by the Advertiser's parent company, Gannett. As such, I am not permitted to participate in blog-related activities for one week.
So we have these pre-loaded entries. That's all.
It's up to you to keep the HABOTN fresh until I return on Sunday, Feb. 21.
Have a nice day.
Furlough Substance.
ReplyDeleteFurlough Substance
ReplyDeleteGET SOME
bah!
ReplyDeleteYou got all you want, 251!!!!
ReplyDeleteFour ball in the corner pocket
ReplyDeleteJay returning in 4 days!
ReplyDeleteSportwriter Jay's appearance will be appreciated by all.
ReplyDeleteDon't know of any breaking news but I am sure he will have something of substance to bring to the table.
Why would Jay choose such an important time to go on Furlough. I mean with all of the breaking news this week. Why couldn't he have picked a time when there was nothing going on I, like the last week or January/first week of February.
ReplyDeleteKen Alvis!
ReplyDeleteNorm's gonna take me down. Yeah.
ReplyDeleteHey, Norm. How 'bout changing your avatar to Wile E. Coyote? That would be apropos.
You guys wanna know Norm's real name? It's not Norman.
It's Normdouche.
Hello all hows the day
ReplyDeleteOOOOoooo...I know you ditten
ReplyDeleteUp until now, I'd planned on Jet's downfall to just be professionally and personally humiliating and embarrassing to him. Now...now I'm thinking of adding serious pain into the mix.
ReplyDeleteWhats going on out there in the world of sports. When is the first AU baseball game?
ReplyDeleteHey, Norm ...
ReplyDeleteNanny-nanny boo boo!
Pocket full of doo doo!
AUBURN BASEBALL NEXT WEEKEND.
ReplyDeleteBIG AUBURN STARS TO BE HONORED ON THE PLAINS:
http://auburntigers.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/021610aac.html
I am still laughing at this:
ReplyDeleteHarrison said...
Kabul U. was #4 in Muslim Playboy's top party schools
Harrison, if you have to go into hiding over that statement, I'll try to smuggle some good beer in to you.
Jhag, if you go to Kabul U., don't worry about your folks not springing for a new ride. You can still pick up plenty of ladies without it:
Get some!
Foster Christy! ...i think.
ReplyDeleteA friend of ours was at Eddie's favorite place (Disney) on the Earth two weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteWhile his wife went to the rest room, he was holding their small daughter. Both were wearing their AU garb.
All of a sudden, a veiled Muslim woman veers toward them. My friend is jittery by nature ... probably assuming that it was Osama's wife sent personally to destroy him and his family.
The woman got closer and closer ... her eyes peering sharply over the veil. My friend started to shake.
As she finally got directly in front of my friend, her eyes sparkled.
She said, "War Eagle." And then left.
Auburn Muslims. gotta love it!
ReplyDeleteWow. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteScottie B., I was fortunate enough to be at AU when the latter three of those four were playing. Those were some fun times to go to AU baseball games.
ReplyDeleteI remember those block "A"s on the hats and helmets. I actually went to buy a fitted Auburn baseball cap in the late 80's or early 90's and was surprised to see the interlocking AU on it. Whenever it was, they had literally just changed over, as they still had some of the block "A" caps in stock, just not in my size. I like the AU better, but it would have been nice to have gotten the old style since that's what they wore when I was there.
I don't know if can permanently give up my AU girls avatar, but thought this was funny...>>>
ReplyDeletemy freshman year was Timmy Hudson's last year. i got to see him play a few times. i wish i had went to more games then. oh, well.
ReplyDeleteWallace Clark!!!
ReplyDeleteI was at AU for both of Huddy's seasons.
ReplyDeleteI was also a regular in the small section of bleachers in right field because they allowed beer coolers there.
THT, i've got a great Wallace Clark AP photo i'll have to scan for you sometime.
ReplyDeleteTHE K-CORNER!!!! AUsome. i was with the baseball team for the entire 98-99 school year. i was a student athletic trainer. just a fancy way of saying water boy/ankle taper. it was so much fun. long hours, though, but lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteSo just found out I have fluid in my knee and torn meniscus, just in time for regionals baby...playing with a torn meniscus never hurt anyone right?
ReplyDeleteMeniscus shmniscus, who needs 'em?
ReplyDeletejhag, did you ever give a report on your matchup against the 5 star 7 footer dude?
not sure it'll really hurt it more if it's already torn Jhag. are you going to have to have it scoped?
ReplyDeleteJet,
ReplyDelete"How 'bout changing your avatar to Wile E. Coyote?"
I hold that copywrite.
Yeah, if someone else changed their avatar to Jan Terri, I would be pretty darn offended.
ReplyDeleteFYI : AUBURN BASEBALL 2010 starts this weekend vs. SE Missouri.
ReplyDeletewhat'd you say michael?
ReplyDeleteThe 7 footer had 12 on me, slacked a little bit he had 7 the last time we played them. We lost in the district final, but well see them again in regionals
ReplyDeletescottie, your pic just made me change my mind. There absolutely cannot be too much Jan Terri on HABOTN. She just makes me happy. I would be stoked if everyone on HABOTN rocked a Jan Terri pic.
ReplyDeletei must admit MJT, i feel like a hot stallion now with this avatar. watch out world!
ReplyDeleteYou Auburn baseball fans should check out Plainsman Parking Lot. It is done by an old college chum of mine, and it is the place for all info Auburn baseball-wise. He does a really good job there.
ReplyDeletejhag - i think you should be on the IR list. What does your ortho doc say? I would think you could make a small tear worse with all that pivoting/twisting/torque you subject your knee to in bball.
ReplyDeletescottie, Jan Terri will take you on a Journey to Mars... and you will never look back.
ReplyDeleteJust for Michael.
ReplyDeleteAre you planning on trying to play college ball anywhere jhag? If not, screw the knee, carpe diem! Win! Win! Win!
ReplyDeletedisclaimer: MJT claims no responsibility for the artificial knee in jhag's future and any cane/walker usage that results from jhag having taken MJT's advice.
Eddie, whatever picture you have is getting blocked by the inappropriateness filter. I can only assume it is Jan Terri porn.
ReplyDeleteMichael- Yepp. Jan Terri Porn. I mean, clothes on or off, does it matter, it's still offensive no matter what.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't take much Jan Terri to be too much.
ReplyDeleteTOO MUCH?! NEVER!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI guess this means its time for another change. I'm a band wagon guy.
ReplyDeleteGetta load a me!!
ReplyDeleteCurling update: U.S. women trail Germany 4-3. Jan Terri now up for the U.S.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Jan Terri can anyone tell me how good is Auburn baseball going to be. Who do we have thats going to be good yada yada yada
ReplyDeletebigdaddy, unfortunately Jan Terri is better than this year's AU baseball team. we're pre-season 5th in the West. same as we finished last year with an 11-19 record. (gag)
ReplyDeleteNot to mention that the AU baseball team is already injury-plagued and the season hasn't even started yet.
ReplyDeleteUpdate - Jan Terri tries showboating "goblin" move while curling and falls on her face. Germans go up 6-3.
ReplyDeleteI was on the island of Inishmoor off the Irish atlantic coast and I was wearing my Auburn ball cap and a couple yelled War Eagle to me and my wife. They were UF alms.
ReplyDeletehere is a great article on why AU star Frank Thomas is/should be a lock for the MLB Hall of Fame:
ReplyDeletehttp://joeposnanski.com/JoeBlog/2010/02/15/frank-thomas/
tommy d - That Jan Terri pic is an inspiration! Almost too much awesomeness for one picture.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had Photoshop. I would be dangerous.
ReplyDeletei have photoshop (chintzy edition), and I'm not still not dangerous
ReplyDeletethanks MJT
ReplyDeletethose preseason picks in the SEC aren't very impressive to me, their very very similar to the end of season rankings last year.
ReplyDeleteI understand the combination of Jan Terri and Auburn, may be more awesomeness than some can bear. But I do take full responsibility for combining them.
ReplyDeletesorry bigdaddy, we don't actually know anything - that's what we've got Tate for.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThat pic of Jan Terri gazing away is the epitome of "fearless and true".
ReplyDeleteScottie,
ReplyDeleteIn the age of jacked up numbers due to performance enhancers, The Big Hurt's numbers stayed the same. So either he was on the stuff ahead of the game or he did it the right way.
I've decided that Bo and Frank didn't actually play full baseball seasons at Auburn. There's no way we could have lost a game with both those guys playing.
ReplyDeleteRK- Considering he openly campaigned fro steroid testing, I'm betting he avoided the stuff and hated those that cheated. I could be wrong, by that's my 2 cents.
ReplyDeleteI am following the women's downhill online. Does anyone care enough to want or not want updates?
ReplyDeleteNah, SC. After all, it's all downhill from here! ba-dum, chi!
ReplyDeletewhy not SC, live-blog away. but only if they're hot. otherwise, i'm not sure we care.
ReplyDeleteAlright, someone can stop me before the end if they really don't want to know.
ReplyDeleteUSA's Lindsey Vonn (the hot one) is currently in 1st place.
USA's Julia Mancuso (the not so hot one) is currently in 2nd.
Over half the competitors have already completed their runs.
now that's an update SC. good work!
ReplyDeleteJan Terri ...YIKES
ReplyDeleteDownhill Results...LA LA LA LA LA...NOT Reading anymore, look forward to watching tonight. I'm sick of NBC's coverage of the Figure Skating Games...I mean the Olympics. The coverage they gave the Men's downhill was PATHETIC. All they do is show figure skating and I absolutely cannot stand figure skating. I'd rather watch paint dry as opposed to watching that.
ReplyDeletegetting from the top to the bottom as fast as possible is the best skiing. Can't wait to watch the downhill tonight.
ReplyDeleteThrough 30 of 45 women downhillers, the Americans are #1 and #2
ReplyDeleteyou're right Eddie. I need to remember to check the MSNBC schedule. They had HOCKEY last night.
ReplyDeleteTHT- Check USA & Universal also for Hockey. They will also show live via PC:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.nbcolympics.com/video/index.html
BTW- Glory Glory Man U. Big Win yesterday in Champions League!
ReplyDeleteNBC Olympics = Too much personal stories and not enough sports action.
ReplyDeleteIce skating is Gay.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteNo way Johnny Weir is gay! Absolutely no way!
ReplyDeleteHoopie, are you live-blogging my live blog?
ReplyDeleteNBC has Bob Costas and Jimmy Roberts, both who stink the joint up. I'd much rather see Al Michaels in primetime than Bob Costas.
ReplyDeleteDon't know about individual skaters, but Male Ice Skating is gay.
ReplyDeleteTHT?
ReplyDeleteBEASLEY!!!
ReplyDeleteUpdate - Julia Mancuso is actually not so un-hot.
ReplyDeleteEddie - blindfold...
Only about 9 skiers left to go. Americans still 1-2.
Breaking News- Tiger Woods to break silence on Friday at a press conference at PGA Headquarters. Should be interesting.
ReplyDeletei just saw that Eddie. should be entertaining.
ReplyDeleteHow does Bob Costas stink the joint up? I think he does a good job.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I was kidding about Johnny Weir earlier, Hoopie.
Eddie, look away...
ReplyDeleteVonn wins the downhill. Mancuso takes 2nd.
Will that push us to tops on the Medal count for the time being?
ReplyDeleteIs he going to play The Masters?
ReplyDeleteFor all the golfers: If any of you live near Sylacauga and want to play golf this weekend, Farmlinks has a special rate. The regular rate is $125 + tax. This weekend , it's $89.95 + tax. This rate is good this Friday through Sunday. That price includes:
ReplyDeleteSpace-available, unlimited golf,
Range balls, Golf car, Lunch, snacks and all non-alcoholic beverages, and 1 sleeve of ProV1 golf balls.
Tiger will come back and win The Masters, i hope
ReplyDeleteI think Tiger has been out of the Sex addiction clinic for a few weeks. That should be enough time for him to get his game started back up.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't surprise me at all for him to be in top form for the Masters.
SC ..Didn't mean to step on your live blog. I had a break from the phones and checked ESPN for Olympic updates, then reported to the HABOTN w/o previewing first.
ReplyDeleteIf you were kidding about that skater then I guess he's like all the rest.
No problem, Hoopie. I was just messing with you about the live-blogging. With that said, I'm sure everyone will be on pins and needles awaiting your live blog of men's figure skating.
ReplyDeleteMel Kiper on AU players in this year's NFL draft:
ReplyDeleteKiper
Btw, the SEC swimming and diving championships started today.
and you can watch it live or check up to the minute results here
ReplyDeleteThe live feed is just a bunch of empty diving platforms right now.
You guys are a bunch of idiots.
ReplyDeleteMJT is not kidding, I have it on good authority.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we are doing very well in Jay's absence.
ReplyDeletethat snowboarding flippytwistysomersaulty stuff that high off the ground is pretty cool.

ReplyDeletewhat's going on errybody?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.prepticket.com/battle/market/national/id/271
ReplyDeleteGo Vote Auburn as the best uniform in college. This is the 3rd round.
I had a conversation with a former AU coach today for about 15 minutes. I am trying to see what I can put on the blog, but it was some juicy stuff.
ReplyDeletewtc - I didn't know you were a duck hunter.
ReplyDeleteJust lucky that I spoke with him THT.
ReplyDeleteFudgie Cheesecake ... ice cream ... Bruster's.
ReplyDeleteGET SOME.
Bob Costas is one of the smartest men in all of sports. I actually don't even know who is in 2nd place. I wish I had half of his intellect.
ReplyDeleteWTC, good juicy or bad juicy?
ReplyDeletethank goodness there's no sissy skating tonight. They showed about 10 women downhillers; I feared I'd get only 5... the medalists and a few crash & burns. I still wish I could have seen the entire competition.
ReplyDeleteMen's skating = 'Blades of Glory'
ReplyDeleteMolly dog just got out of bed and came into the kitchen to tell me it was ice cream time. She was right!
ReplyDeleteWTC's new name ... "Bad Juicy."
ReplyDeleteShaun White is from another planet.
ReplyDeleteHe is one bad mamma jamma.
Shaun White is so awesome, he just got some
ReplyDeletehere in the USA were just better than you
ReplyDeleteGet some world
ReplyDelete@schadjoe Ryan Mallett broke left foot today. Out for spring; 3-4 months recovery.
ReplyDeleteGlad I stayed away from this place earlier today (wasn't easy), otherwise would've ruined the women's downhill for me. Great night for the Americans.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the record, I think Bob Costas is a complete douche. The way he treated Lindsey Jacobellis at the 2006 Torino games after she got silver was beyond shameful, IMO.
Yeah someone ruined the womens downhill for everyone haha
ReplyDeletesleep... get some!
ReplyDeleteGood night, Hotties. Actually, good morning here.
Good Morning, Hotties!
ReplyDeleteRise and shine!!!
WARRRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!
ok, now for the truth.... I'd rather not be rising and shining today.. have to go to a meeting tonight after work. Yuck.
Good morning, Hotties!
ReplyDeleteGold Medals - Get Some!
Exactly E-Bro regarding Costas.
ReplyDeleteMorning, hotties! Going to Nashville today for a weekend with daughter and son-in-law! And Auburn next weekend to see son and lots of Auburn sports.
ReplyDeleteWhen I get back on Sunday Jay will be back from his mandated furlough :^) Life is good!
I like Costas. I don't remember exactly how he treated Jacobellis in 2006, but she kind of brought it on herself. If she had been a male football player and cost his team the Super bowl because of showboating how do you think that would have been handled?
ReplyDeleteI don't know what he said to her either, but unlike football being a team sport, her actions really and truly only hurt herself because it was an indivdual event.
ReplyDeleteI need some help from the techies on here. I'm using Chrome and my home page is Fox News. I got online last night and this is what I saw.

Oh and good morning.
I agree in a way Luv, but the Olympics are about more than I person doing one event. Sure it wasn't a team sport, but she was snow boarding for a country.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a football player wasn't the best comparison so just plug in any individual male sport into my argument.
ReplyDeleteTalk to you guys later.
ReplyDeleteI owe, I owe so off to work I go.
Eh, she was only 21 at the time. I know I've done many things in my late teens-early 20's that I regret. She didn't deserve to be treated the way she was by Bob Costas.
ReplyDeleteE-Bro or Eddie, what did he say to her?
She is an extremely accomplished and dedicated skiier. I don't think anyone can fault her for that one run:
ReplyDeleteLindsey Vonn
Morning folks. I have no issue with Costas. For baseball, I think he's about the smartest guy out there. Football, absolutely better than most. Anything else he might cover, I don't watch enough of it to say. Seems to me he's doing a competent job with the Olympics but I'm not glued to it, I just hit it a few times a night for something which might be compelling to me (skiing or snowboarding stuff is pretty cool).
ReplyDeleteI don't even know who this individual is from the '06 Olympics or what supposedly transpired. Was it comparable to Jim Gray v Pete Rose? I have no idea.
Anyway, Get Some.
Lindsey Jacobellis = Dewayne Reed?
ReplyDeleteDiscuss.
Luv- He absolutely harassed her about her performance, over and over again. He would not let it go. It was about unbearable to watch. Costas always comes off as a pampas jackass to me and I cannot stand his coverage of anything. Apparently I'm in the minority, so it's cool.
ReplyDeleteJet- At least Jacobellis has a medal. Reed has nothing.
ReplyDeleteEnough Jan Terri. Time for Booze.
ReplyDeleteJet, there is absolutely no comparison.
ReplyDeleteFurloughs are sucky sucky.
ReplyDeleteI feel weefweshed
ReplyDeleteYeah, Eddie, but Reed's about to get his ribbon for fifth place in the SEC West. That's gotta be worth something.
ReplyDeleteYou feel what???
ReplyDeleteJet- About as much as that 4-H ribbon I got for baking when my Mom baked the cookies that I turned in.
ReplyDeleteGreatest insult ever regarding 4H ... years ago ... I was at a board meeting of the Elmore County Auburn Club.
ReplyDeleteOne of the guys was pontificating on his busy social schedule, etc., and one of the ladies there who had grown up with the guy turned to him and said ...
"Don't act like you've never shown a cow."
Jet- So how many cows has Norm shown?
ReplyDeleteYou shut your pie hole mister.
ReplyDeleteNorm- You show goats too?...or just keep those at the house?
ReplyDeleteAlthough we are at war, I will defend Norm in this.
ReplyDeleteI've never known Norm to be involved with livestock.
Jet- Never known leaves it open ended. If Norm was a bama fan, you could shut the book on the case.
ReplyDeleteRead elsewhere some Auburn fan claiming Lebo was a better coach than Fortner. Claimed that Fortner had superior talent to work with as compared to Lebo. Good thing there are no holes in his argument.
ReplyDeleteAs a child, we owned 2 horses which we boarded near my house. That's the only involvement I've had with livestock aside from using a knife and fork.
ReplyDeleteNorm- You still good on your return to running in the ING this march?
ReplyDeleteI was released to return to running almost 2 weeks ago and have only managed to do it once in that time. I brought my gear to the office today and plan to shut things down around 4 to run. So, hopefully I'll be good to go for the ING.
ReplyDeleteNorm, now that you have something planned, you won't be able to leave...
ReplyDeleteWhere has PF been all week?
ReplyDeleteY'all talk about the yuckiest things first thing in the morning - yesterday it was beer, today it's running!
ReplyDeleteLuv,
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering the same thing. If I hadn't met PF, I would think he and Jay are one and the same. Come to think of it, I've never met Jay...
But you have seen him on his live video chat!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I guess that is true :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't PF one of those who will be swallowed up until April 15?
ReplyDeleteAnd drunk from 4/16 - 30?
ReplyDeletewtc is a scoop tease.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I am actually Jay. Don't tell anyone.
ReplyDeleteThere's just not much worse in life than a scoop tease.
ReplyDeletemichael,
ReplyDeleteYour secret is safe with me.
And now I really am off to Nashville. Will try to peek in and see what is going on if I can get access to a computer. I think I am going to go buy me either an ipod with wifi access or a laptop. I don't like being incommunicado!
i think there are 6 or 7 Jays on here, but there's only one JGT.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe michaei is Jay I have met Jay and he doesn't look anything like michael sounds.
ReplyDeleteSad
ReplyDeleteAgree Norm. Saw that this morning. Kid had a bright future ahead of him.
ReplyDeleteNorm- You killed this thread with that sad news.
ReplyDeleteSo small plane crashes into building in Austin, Texas that houses IRS, CIA and FBI? Is that coincidental or done with purpose?
ReplyDeleteLooks like the staff has found a replacement for duck hunting.
ReplyDelete"Auburn is also among the schools chasing Rose. Its offer was delayed last week due to a trip to the Bahamas by members of the coaching staff."
The story about the Bennett kid from McEachern HS is indeed brutal and sad.
ReplyDeleteThat is one incredible sad story. Apparently the kid was a great person. Sometimes the world in which we live is very disappointing.
ReplyDeleteFrom the BBQ gang to the Bongo Boys, what's next. Hope Chiz & Co. gets on this ASAP
ReplyDeleteSteve ...
ReplyDeleteI believe you are wrong about that. I know for a fact that Chiz was there to visit Desmond C. Witherington, deep snapper, Nassau Prep.
Also, love the statement being made without attribution.
SteveFC,
ReplyDeleteThere is one difference in this staff going on vacation and XCTT going duck hunting. He did it before signing day while our current staff did it after bringing in arguably the best class Auburn has ever had.
When is wtc going to drop the other shoe and let us know about his conversation with an Auburn coach???
ReplyDeletewtc???
All staffs take a vacation. I remember 5 yrs ago this March 12th seeing CMR of Georgia and his staff in the ATL airport on their way to St. Lucia. I actually talked to him for a few minutes. I know he is the enemy but he seemed like a great guy. He is much bigger than he looks on tv.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe michaei is Jay I have met Jay and he doesn't look anything like michael sounds.
ReplyDeleteDigger, are you referring to Captain Boxhead?
Marinate on this for a minute. If college basketball was like little league sports, Auburn would get a trophy for finishing 5th.
ReplyDeleteTHE one and only , Luv
ReplyDeleteJet - do you really know this for a fact, or do you have it on good authority?
ReplyDeletewe might actually get a rare furlough day page 2... where's Norm?
ReplyDeleteoh, there you are. You startled me.
ReplyDeleteIf college basketball was a little league sport the SEC would give us John Wall next year to make us more competitive.
ReplyDeleteStand by Norm
ReplyDeletei gotta get back to work. Do yore thang Norm
ReplyDeleteGet ready
ReplyDeleteDesmond's family is in the ... ahem ... import/export business. I believe you met some of his family during a 1982 trip there yourself.
ReplyDeleteBoom
ReplyDeleteBOOM!!! GET SOME!!!
ReplyDelete
