Furlough Day Three: Tuesday

I am on a mandated and unpaid furlough as required by the Advertiser's parent company, Gannett. As such, I am not permitted to participate in blog-related activities for one week.

So we have these pre-loaded entries. That's all.

It's up to you to keep the HABOTN fresh until I return on Sunday, Feb. 21.

Have a nice day.

ps: I'll be watching UK-Mississippi State tonight if you're interested in joining me vicariously.

  5. I'll bet Jay will be jacked up for the MSU game tonight. He'll be all fanned out with his Christian Laettner voodoo doll out, pins in its eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Three is a magic number.

    ReplyDelete
  7. dang that JG. what a slacker. dadgum pre-loaded entries are as bad as Lebo's end of game coaching.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Laettner will be 60 years old, strolling through Keeneland with a Makers & coke in hand and some 80 year old man will take him out with his cane. dude will ALWAYS be hated in Lexington.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Three may be a magical number, but One is the loneliest number.

    ReplyDelete
  10. and #2 stands for poop

  11. Obamaman is funding two new nuclear plants to be built in Georgia.

Moron falls into Mount Saint Helens volcano.

Life doesn't get much more exciting than this.

    ReplyDelete
  12. So, Ari, do you know the story of why Jay G despises Christian Laettner the way he does?

    ReplyDelete
  13. could it be that final 4 game when he ripped UK's heart out on thet last second shot??

    ReplyDelete
  14. bingo Harrison. JG's got some Kentucky Blue in him even though he may never admit it. i remember he really, really wanted a UK2K tee a few weeks back.

    ReplyDelete
  15. SteveFC...

In the nuclear vein are you talking about two new towers or two new plants????

    ReplyDelete
  16. I believe two new plants, which is what the tweet said. They will be the first in more than 30 years. They are allocating $8.3 Billion for them.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Just checked. It is two new reactors, not plants.

    ReplyDelete
  18. That's Plant Vogtle in Burke Co (Waynesboro) where I live. That really has been in the works for awhile round here. Been getting ready for it.

Boom town around here in the 70's when the two original got going. It has been good for us and our taxes!

    ReplyDelete
  19. By the way I have done some work at some of the most secure areas of Plant Vogtle. It is the most secure place I have ever been in.

They do a great job. You have to really go through it to get in.....makes me very happy that it is that way.

    ReplyDelete
  20. That is the facility they are talking about expanding, although apparently there are more to come. Obamaman wants to get around 6 more nuclear reactors up and running. It is nice to see us finally wising up about nuclear power.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Happy Mardi Gras, Hotties!

I had gumbo for lunch for Mardi Gras and I'm going to have pancakes for supper to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. It's fun being multicultural/bi-food-al today.

Sorry that Jay G. is in time-out.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Norm ...

I thought you to be savvier than that. www.ihatenorm.com is a fabrication -- a canard.

I will keep your real name a secret until the bitter end.

    ReplyDelete
  23. MJT, just wanted to issue a belated thank you for the explanation regarding the stuffed animals. It all makes sense now.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jet, I knew it wasn't real, I just wanted to see what kind of answer I would get if I asked you how many the hists the website got every day.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I know someone in this neighborhood has advocated Scott Sutton as a good coach to investigate should my doppelganger fire Lebo.

I hope that Scott's apple has bounded far away from the family tree. We know about Dad's issues. Brother Sean, the ex-Okie State coach, is facing four felony charges for attempting to illegally get his hands on some prescription painkillers.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Andy Staples takes a look at the top 10 classes from 2007 and re-ranks them ... AU was ranked 7th at the time ... nowhere to be seen today.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/andy_staples/02/15/2007-classes/index.html?eref=sihp

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jet - I too knew it wasn't real but that still doesn't mean I'm not plotting your ultimate downfall. You have to pay for Santino.

    ReplyDelete
  28. ehyou = HABOTN Ziemba

    ReplyDelete
  29. Jet, I've actually wondered about Scott Sutton as well. He does seem to fit the Jacobs mold as far as his strong faith. And definitely seems to be solid coach.

I was unaware of brother Sean's issues--that's not good. And yes, papa sure had his issues. So, who knows.

If you had to wager a guess, do you think Lebo returns?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Don Norm,

I believe you have me confused with J-Z.

    ReplyDelete
  31. jet...
Is that a frequent occurrence? If so, I'd be concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Are all the Hotties just really busy or just have nothing to say? It sure has been slow this week.

    ReplyDelete
  33. That 2007 class had a crap load of attrition, although our solid offensive line came from it, if I recall correctly. Kodi didn't exactly turn out to be what he was hyped up to be either. Eltoro took a while to show up, although it is nice to see he is actually playing.

    ReplyDelete
  34. This is particularly for E-Bro, Sean, JGT, and the other resident soccer fans, but the rest of you might find it interesting (it's also somewhat about football):

  43. who has like 10 boxes of girl scout cookies at home? cause i do

    ReplyDelete
  44. I had 3 boxes Sunday. 0 today.

    ReplyDelete
  45. This was obviously the wrong time of day to ask a serious question.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Samoas are so freggin delightful. Do they really come from Samoa?

    ReplyDelete
  47. those are my favorites. they are way too small to come from Somoa

    ReplyDelete
  48. That is very insensitive, Harrison. I am sure Samoa has a lot of midgets who would love to make small cookies.

    ReplyDelete
  49. well it's misleading at worst

    ReplyDelete
  50. Not as misleading as the fact that they are even "girl scout" cookies to begin with. I have a daughter who is of scout age. She can't properly do the easy bake oven without some assistance. You are telling me that Samoan girl scouts made these gourmet cookies? Yeah right.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thanks everyone for the congratulatory sayings!
This is going to be the hardest decision ever

    ReplyDelete
  52. i'm sure they are made by cookie sweat shops somewhere in the far east. They're probably not even girl scouts. maybe not even girls

    ReplyDelete
  53. Maybe not even people. Maybe puppet scouts! Ah crap!

And congrats, jhag. Just remember: whatever you choose, you will be spending the rest of your life wondering what would have happened if you picked the other school. You will always wonder if you made the completely wrong choice.

    Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hey jhag, how did it go against that 5 star seven footer the other night?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Especially when the other "school" didn't gain 50 pounds.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I don't think Harrison's talking about college choices anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  57. What are jhag's choices?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Auburn or Kabul University, I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  59. jhag, if you choose Auburn, be sure you have a press conference where you say "I have decided to attend the University of Auburn."

    ReplyDelete
  60. Kabul U. was #4 in Muslim Playboy's top party schools

    ReplyDelete
  61. jhag, it's really not a hard decision. If you have ever been to Auburn and if they offer your major then the choice is easy.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Has anyone else ever watched the Ghost Whisperer just to see Jennifer Love Hewitt?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Anyone else see where Brent Calloway visited today? If you don't know him, he is a commitment to the walmartians. I thought you couldn't take visits if you were committed to $atan. Recruits are really starting to see through those clowns. Calloway says that Auburn made big move. The only thing I like better than getting a big time commitment is stealing a big time commitment from the turds.

    ReplyDelete
  64. So one of UAt's early commitment from a RB from Russelville, AL for 2011, took a visit to AU today. Says just because he is committed to UAt doesn't mean he isn't going to take his visits and look around. If he decommitts will the other side they never really wanted him anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  65. CHB-sorry for running over your post. I just happened to read about him today.

I was told today that AU will take only 1 RB in 2011. If he is the only one, I think AU has a good shot as UAt is looking for him t play LB. Like they need more of those.

    ReplyDelete
  66. The puppet hour went by without much string pulling. The puppets just seem to dangle there.

    ReplyDelete
  67. no problem WTC, what about that guy from Decatur?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Are you thinking of the kid form Demopolis? DeMarcus James is his name (I think)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Or is it Ryan Watson from Decatur , AL?

He is listed as an athlete.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I thought you hotties would be interested in this.
    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2452083/posts

    ReplyDelete
  71. CHB-AU is very interested in those guys, but I think they will fall into the athlete-receiver category. AU would like to sign 1 stud RB and then fill DL, OL, DB, LB with the majority of this class.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Florida State, Auburn, Ole Miss and yes it is a hard decision being an out of state student

    ReplyDelete
  73. jhag - that's something you should decide with your folks. The Hotties can give you great advice but you shouldn't pay much attention to it.

    ReplyDelete
  74. wtc -

any idea why AU hasn't offered the 5* RB from Carver H.S. in Columbus? Seems like he has offers from everyone else already.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Scout actually has a "DS" position category for prospects. The only one listed has interest in AU and UA-T, amongst others, but no offers yet. We better get off our butts and get this guy committed before Shorty gets him.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I watched the the Demopolis RB in the state championship game ... he's a bowling ball in the Rudi Johnson mode.

    I was impressed.

    ReplyDelete
  77. ever since Dax left we've had precariously thin DSD (deep snapper depth)

    ReplyDelete
  78. jhag!!!!!

Congrats to you on having three universities to choose from.

I too had the same decision many, many years ago. After many discussions with my parents there were tons of things I had to weigh and I did have to sacrifice much by going out of state.

I made the right decision for me. If I had to do it all over again knowing what I sacrificed, my decision would still be the same. I would do it again anyway.

I know it was a long time ago but stepping on Auburn's campus with no means of transportation not knowing one soul to my name was a scary situation for a girl from a tiny high school in east Georgia.

But hey.... I fell in love with the my first "WAR EAGLE!" and been that way ever since!!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably go to a smaller school, with smaller classes and more communication between the professors, administration and students. Auburn is a great place to go to school, but if you aren't ready to take college seriously, it's very easy go through four years as just another student. At a smaller school, there's more accountability, because your success or failure is more apparent.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I enjoyed being just another student, the more anonymous the better.

    ReplyDelete
  81. but what I'll enjoy even more is...

    ReplyDelete
  82. ...that, and a big bowl of ice cream with Hershey's syrup.

I finished off a carton last night, so I have to go all the way to the basement freezer to get another carton. Just think of all those calories I'll burn retrieving the ice cream!

    ReplyDelete

    THT ..It ain't fair.

I eat one desert, a few glasses of red wine and do +/-4 times on the elliptical machine per week and my Triglycerides are 370(supposed to be 150).

You eat BarBQ and Ice Cream with reckless abandon and suffer no ill effects.

    ReplyDelete
  84. The new residence halls look BA at Auburn The Village

    ReplyDelete
  85. missinit, I bought my wife a shirt one time that said " You had me at War Eagle". Its kind of cheesy but very true.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Please, please eat a bowl for me THT...please!!!

I have to have an iodine ablation to finish off this thyroid surgery I had in December, so for two weeks a ton of things have been forbidden.

.....ice cream and chocolate being two of my favs.

Lord have mercy it is tough!!!!

And I still haven't found my voice!!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. WTC,

You hit on both guys I was thinking of. I agree we only need 1 RB next year. We need to stock pile the DL and Ol and I think we need some more DB's.

    ReplyDelete
  88. CH=B

Tis true, I agree 100% and..... speaking of cheese can't have it either.

But I can yell "War Eagle" all I want!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Hoopie - I'll probably just kill over one day with no warning.

Missinit - Molly dog ate a bowl for you.

jhag - I'm so sorry you won't have a chance to experience the high life that was Mag(nolia) Dorm at Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Tell Molly dog to lick that bowl clean.

Mag Dorm, that place was a real.....well that's just say it was a place and leave it at that....and that was in the 70's

    ReplyDelete
  91. Anyone watching this UK MSU game?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Jhag ... I am.

    ReplyDelete
  93. State giving a good fight ... but hard to imagine they can win with Vanardo on the sideline with four fouls.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Ari Gold or Criminal Type probably is

    ReplyDelete
  95. jhag - I am not... too depressed to watch any more after Wake Forest choked away the VTech game tonight.

missint - not even a molecule of ice cream left behind. Oh, and Molly licked her bowl, too.

    ReplyDelete
  96. and best in show @ the wmkc dog show is....?

    ReplyDelete
  97. it insane to hear how intense the dog show commentators are!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Man, HABOTN without Jay G. is like nachos without cheese. Now, how the heck am I suppose to do nachos without cheese?

    ReplyDelete
  99. AU extended an offer to the "little" brother of one of $pUAT's 2010 signees today. Cyrus Koundjio...

THT, from what I have seen AU is heavily recruiting Crowell (the RB from Carver). They are also recruiting the LB at Russelville (Calloway's teammate) that transferred from PA.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Now here is some interesting news.

"Calif. jury finds N. Carolina woman guilty of murdering a fortuneteller and her daughter after getting reading that angered her"

Somehow, it looks like the fortuneteller would have seen it coming.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Nachos without cheese are just chips.

State without Vanardo is just Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I take that back. State may very well win this game ... that's because Cal can recruit talent, but he can't harness it.

    ReplyDelete
  103. scottish terrier wins best in show.

    ReplyDelete
  104. A flute without holes, is not a flute. A donut without a hole, is a Danish.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Norm is going night putting.

    ReplyDelete
  106. A donut sounds good, but I hate wearing them on my bootie, so guess I'll pass.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'm not going night putting. I remember what happened to Mitch Cumstein.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Don't understand the donut bootie. Don't want to understand the donut bootie.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Norm, did you go night putting with F.O.'s daughter?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Varnado is on the bench. Why is UK jacking 3s?

    ReplyDelete
  111. I was absolutely not on F.O.'s "favorite's list" and I don't recall whether he had a daughter or not but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been allowed near her. Silly Yugo driving butthead he was.

    ReplyDelete
  112. SteveFC,
I'll splain - eating sweets tends to make me gain weight, I gain it in my b-tt, but Jay doesn't like us to use that word - hence bootie. Got it?

I really would like a donut.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Wait, not a Yugo but not much better. I just remembered, it was a Renault Le Car.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Norm ...

I believe it was a Renault "Le Car."

    ReplyDelete
  115. Are Miss State's uniforms dark green or do they just look that way on my TV?

    ReplyDelete
  116. And now, because my grandfather would like it, I'll say...
Good night, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you
Here's a wish and a prayer that every dream comes true
And now 'til we meet again
    Adios, au revoir, auf wiedersehen
    Good Night!

    ReplyDelete
  117. I know Jay really wants KY to win, but I really do not like Calipari. That makes it hard to pull for them.

    ReplyDelete
  118. yep, I'm too old to still be up. Sweet dreams, Hotties!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Thankya, thankya.

Our wunnerful Irish tenor Norm will sing "Danny Boy," accompanied by Myron Floren on the accordian.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Sweet dreams to you, too, THT.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Osby from MSU just lost them that game

    ReplyDelete
  122. Jhag ... you are right.

    ReplyDelete
  123. MS State wore black uniforms tonight

    ReplyDelete
  124. Just like in football when bama stomped them

    ReplyDelete
  125. SteveFC just caught up, and it didn't involve hemorrhoids. That was a close call.

    ReplyDelete
  126. War Eagle im feeling 60% Au right now baby

    ReplyDelete
  127. Scotto Chocco...Thanks for the link earlier to the cfn article about soccer.

Of course, as a United fan, I have to point out that the guy answering the questions apparently doesn't have all his facts straight. He said Liverpool is the holder of the most English titles.

Correction: they WERE...until last year when United pulled even with the Scousers (Liverpool).

Okay, everybody (outside of SC, Sean, Eddie, and JGT) can now go back to not caring about soccer.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Good morning, Hotties!

jhag, there sure is a whole lot of advice going on around here, but I have to agree with Tar Heel. While CH=B is correct to some degree, there are a lot of other things to think about as well. You should do your research on all three schools and then sit down and weigh out the options with your parents.

    Is it Friday yet???

    ReplyDelete
  129. Good morning, Hotties!

Luv - re: is it Friday? not quite. That sure would be awesome if it was.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Good morning all. Have a great day.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I sure miss Jay.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Good morning, it's a happy day!
Good morning, it's a happy day!
Good morning, it's a happy, happy, happy, happy day!

I used to wake my children with that little song. Be glad you just read it and didn't hear me sing it :)

    ReplyDelete
  133. Jhag ...

Because we live vicariously through you ... (if you don't know what vicariously means, then FSU is definitely the choice) ... I offer you this logic.

You have three schools: two out of state and one in-state. FSU, because of its in-state status and the purported inducement of a vehicle, is an automatic finalist.

So to further ease your decision, you need to eliminate one of the out-of-state schools. Perhaps your attraction to Ole Miss can be explained by the fact that in 35 years you will be Houston Nutt. Giggity.

Auburn is the one in your heart. Ole Miss is the 10 at 2 and the 2 at 10 the next a.m. Just sayin'.

So choose between AU and FSU. God bless you.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Nice analysis Jet.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Ole Miss is the 10 at 2 and the 2 at 10 the next a.m.

Call me an idiot, but wth does that mean??

    ReplyDelete
  136. At 2:00 am, you take home a "10".

At 10:00 am, you wake up with a "2".

    ReplyDelete
  137. Oh! Thanks, ehyou!

    ReplyDelete
  138. I, of course, have heard of beer goggles, but I've never heard that phrase.
