The HABOTN® Super Bowl thread

Hey everyone. Let's watch the big game and talk about it.

Sounds like fun.

Extra attention will be placed upon Indianapolis CB Jerraud Powers, who would have won the EAABWAA Good Guy Award had it been real prior to 2009. He played at Auburn.

  1. Pete & Roger are gettin' on up there. I still love The Who.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Sorry for being out of contact for a few days. My graddad was one of my favoritest people ... and it sucked having to bury him.

But life goes on! Circle or life and all that.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Waker...why would they ban the three point stance?

Jay...glad you are back...I'm not gonna get the iPad.

I'm saving for the 27 inch iMac..

    ReplyDelete
  4. Circle OF life, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I want an iMac, too.

Maybe we can lobby RSJ for a package discount.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Sorry for you loss JGT.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'm tired of seeing Bands from the 70's in the half time show. I love the Who as much as anyone. But I would rather watch a recording of one of their concerts from back in the day then watch a 60 year old lip synch the song.

    ReplyDelete
  8. My condolences, JayG. My paternal grandfather died when I was 4. I'm pretty sure he would have been one of my favoritest people. My maternal grandfather was a great guy, too. But he always called me Pete, even from before I was born.

is there a game on tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  9. So, lame halftime show. I saw Tommy in my teens, and thought it was neat, so I think The Who did cool thing at one time, but feel like there comes a point in your life that you're too old to be a rock star.

    ReplyDelete
  10. JGT,
Sorry for your loss... glad you made it home safely.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm sorry for your loss JGT.

Supposedly to cut down on concussions FSJ.

    ReplyDelete
  12. For the record, I'm well under 45 and I happen to like The Who.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think they should get EW&F or The Commodores for a SB halftime show. Keep it in My Generation.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Thanks for the kind tidings.

Almost bought a UK2K shirt in Lexington. My last thread of journalistic integrity turned me around. I don't want you all thinking I'm a UK fan ...

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm half way to 45 and I love the Who, but a rock concert by 60 year olds is still lame.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Apparently, Rock Band begins offering a Who download package beginning ... NOW.

    ReplyDelete
  17. you're such a UK homer.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Is Gene Chizik coaching the Saints?

    ReplyDelete
  19. umm.... somebody has brass balls.... and he wears a fleur de lis on his visor.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Actually FSJ, a turn of the millennium edition of Tubs is coaching.

    ReplyDelete
  21. 15 former SEC players in tonights game... 9 SEC teams represented.

    Saints: 8 former SEC players
Robert Meachem, Jabari Greer, Marvin Mitchell (UT), Devery Henderson, Randall Gay (LSU), Roman Harper (UAT), Jon Stinchcomb (UGA), Bobby McCray (UF)
*Heath Evans (AU) is on Saints IR

    Colts: 7 former SEC players
Joseph Addai (LSU), Tim Jennings (UGA), Antonio Johnson (MSU), Peyton Manning (UT), Jerraud Powers (AU), Jacob Tamme (UK), Tony Ugoh (Arky)

SEC Teams not represented tonight - Ole Miss, Vandy, South Carolina

    ReplyDelete
  22. Does field position really matter against Manning, though? He's going to either score on you or not, no matter if they start from the 10 or 50.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Manning hasn't completed a pas since the 9:27 mark in the 2nd quarter. He hasn't attempted one since the 8:30 mark.

Saints doing a good job of keeping him off the field.

    ReplyDelete
  24. "he is either going to score on you or not" That was very Bob Davieish PF.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think Malzahn is calling plays, the dumb reverse call earlier and the onside kick.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Big-time call by Payton.

    ReplyDelete
  27. i hope y'all don't mind that I turned my tv off after The Who (which was a really cool show...if you're into the lights).

Hard to concentrate on HABOTN and my studies with a boring NFL game on.

    ReplyDelete
  28. boring NFL... sorry for the redundancy

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anonymous7:29 PM

    My condolences JG.

I love the Who but I thought that performance was a little sad.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Me likey the Megan Fox tub commercial.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Roger Daltrey will be 66 in less than a month. Pete Townshend will be 65 in 3 months. When is rock star mandatory retirement age?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Meanwhile, in the Freep household, we've been watching the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Megan Fox in a tub.... nice...

Wait... no, I can no longer think that... after finding out Fox is my sister's doppelganger... I had to remove her from my list.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I watched that earlier today Freep.... there was nothing else on.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Loved the Bud Light "lost" commeercial. Highlight of halftime show -- just after The Who finished the 15 x 18 foot monitor my conference rented and placed on an outdoor veranda toppled over.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ha, wake. Maybe I chose the wrong career. I could have a sweet job and a legion of haters.

There was a point that I was trying to make there, though.

    ReplyDelete
  37. D. Miller, she picked Megan Fox?

That's a tall order right there.

    ReplyDelete
  38. officials are letting them play... more bumping going on than a nascar race.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Jet, did you boo the setup guys?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hey D Miller remember when you told me you wanted me to meet your family? You remember that don't you? Well you did. We can start with your sister.

    ReplyDelete
  41. JGT,
It was Fox or Jessica Alba... toss up. Sadly I have had to remove both from my list.

    ReplyDelete
  42. ...and isn't it a little chilly to be outdoors watching the game?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Where has this Joseph Addai been all season? Where's he been for the past 2 seasons for that matter?

    ReplyDelete
  44. And the Colts strike back!

    ReplyDelete
  45. D. Miller, I totally understand. I'd have the permanent heebie-jeebies after that one.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Amazingly the monitor didn't break.

    ReplyDelete
  47. That last Bridgestone Commercial was kinda weird but pretty funny.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Wake, you seem like a nice guy... She is only 18 though...

    ReplyDelete
  49. Bridgestone chick was hot!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Haha oh well I tried D.

    Milka what?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Wake thought he had a home run waiting there, too!

    ReplyDelete
  52. love the e-trade baby commercials!

    coke commercial....wtf?

    ReplyDelete
  53. you wouldn't wanna date my sister wake... I'd be in your head...everytime you looked at her you'd see me... it would just be too weird (unless you're into that kind of thing...and then it is too weird and you can't date my sister)

    ReplyDelete
  54. nice play by Powers

    ReplyDelete
  55. Condolences on your loss, JGT.

I was fortunate to have all four of my grandparents all the way thru college. I'm extremely blessed that my paternal grandmother sent me a nice card on my 49th birthday a few months ago.

And at the age of 98, her hate for all things Crimson would make Jet proud.

    ReplyDelete
  56. It would be especially disturbing if I pictured the Hoff D.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Is anyone else a little perturbed by the fact that our gov't is spending cash on (uber-expensive) adspace during the SB for the frickin census?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Google > Bing\Yahoo\Everything else

    ReplyDelete
  59. love the sock monkey.... I used to have a sock monkey...

    ReplyDelete
  60. Census budget is absolutely insane.

    ReplyDelete
  61. If anyone wants to take me to the Masters this year.... just please let me know...

    ReplyDelete
  62. oh sheesh.... this guy? seriously?

    ReplyDelete
  63. I am apparently talking to myself now...

    ReplyDelete
  64. You can't defend that quick slant like that... perfect timing

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm still here DM.

Turned into a pretty good game.

    ReplyDelete
  66. You could have Jammed the WR.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Yeah, but Reggie Wayne is one of the toughest to jam at the line... he gets off the ball as well as any WR in the league.

    ReplyDelete
  68. He has good get-off.

    ReplyDelete
  69. that. was. stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  70. One of the main attractions is 'Fearless Freep' and his high-dive act. As soon as Yosemite Sam hears the name 'Fearless Freep', he goes into a frenzy, buying as many tickets as he can. (I'm a-splurgin'!)

    ReplyDelete
  71. referring to the emerald nuts commercial....

    ReplyDelete
  72. Very True.

You also could have pulled one of these

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Dfn00WAL_4

    That always works.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Heard that > 100 UAT fans gathered to hear big & big time OL Spencer Region announce his commitment to the Tahd (2011) and ... he committed to Auburn!! Apparently, a HUGE surprise.

How cool would it be to be the only Auburn fan there screaming while the Crimson faithful glared? Sweet....

    ReplyDelete
  74. Fearless Freep? THAT'S M'BOY!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Notice I didn't say Richard?

    ReplyDelete
  76. That was a catch for the 2-point conversion

    ReplyDelete
  77. Dang, a game base on Dante?

May have to try that one.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Good to see that call.

He deserved those two points. Awesome effort.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I think Stevie Wonder could have found an open WR with that much time to throw

    ReplyDelete
  80. Shout out to Kennesaw, GA

    ReplyDelete
  81. The green police commercial couldn't be any dumber.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Well actually it could have been for a hybrid instead of a TDI.

    ReplyDelete
  83. The Round Mound in prime time. Guess there's always forgiveness in TV land.

    ReplyDelete
  84. There's been one guy in the left rear surround channel yelling "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH" for almost the entire game.

    ReplyDelete
  85. !@#%$%$#$@^#$#$^$!@$^!$#$^%#$@%!@$^$#!^#$^#$ $#^#@^#%^#$%#$^#$^#@^$#!^!

    ReplyDelete
  86. A precision drive and ... NOT

    ReplyDelete
  87. Was that Everyman Joe's Gym?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Ok, Manning... you owe me 2 TD's in the next 3 minutes...

Or a TD and a FG... and the Saints a FG

Otherwise you just cost me $100... jackarse

    ReplyDelete
  89. Fail whale out. Twitter not dat, either.

    ReplyDelete
  90. You had the saints giving up points? Where'd you manage that?

    ReplyDelete
  91. it was a magic square office pool.... I had Indy with 7 and saints with 4....

    ReplyDelete
  92. I guess if the Saints get it back and kick a FG I'm still good...
    I need a saints FG

    ReplyDelete
  93. I've seen this show before.

I was at the Colts comeback against the Bucs in 03... it hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  94. You have stopped Manning the whole game, why do anything different now?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Nah, Shaq just said on twitter that the Saints are Super Bowl Champs.

    ReplyDelete
  96. a running play? wtf?

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'm tired of hearing who dat.

But I'm still glad the Colts didn't win it.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Bourbon street, during Mardi Gras, with the Saints winning = bedlam.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I'd like to be on St. Charles St. right now.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Bourbon would be too wild for me.

    ReplyDelete
  101. frickin screwed.... i got screwed...

    ReplyDelete
  102. Brees was scheduled to do a couple of parades this week. He just added another, and made those that much bigger.

    ReplyDelete
  103. the parades at Disney World, PF?

    ReplyDelete
  104. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  105. The only thing more annoying than who dat is geaux (insert team from Louisiana here)

    ReplyDelete
  106. This may sound terribly insensitive... but N'Awlins will be destroyed tonight by looters and crackheads... it will look like another hurricane came through there...

You couldn't pay me to be in that town tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  107. This should end the 'Manning is the greatest ever' talk... he choked in another big game...he choked.

    ReplyDelete
  108. D Miller ... My boss is at the same conference, and he was in the same boat with you -- a $5,000 boat.

    ReplyDelete
  109. By the way... remember Drew Brees wasn't good enough to play for Saban.

    ReplyDelete
  110. As @OGOchoCinco would say... I am level 5 pisstified right now.

    ReplyDelete
  111. time for me to sort the recyclables.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Did I miss something tonight? We were out shopping for a sofa and love seat.
Pottery Barn did not have any TV's.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Seems to have worked out well for Brees and Saban.

    ReplyDelete
  114. There was a commercial about you tonight, WTC...

    ReplyDelete
  115. FSJ,
I now share your hatred of Peyton Manning....

    ReplyDelete
  116. Which one Dmiller?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Jay G.,

    My condolences on your loss.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Good evening to all the hotties! I am back from the Grand Hotel and FREEZING cold Fairhope.

I'm sorry to hear about your granddad, Jay. My grandaddies were two of my most favorite people in the whole world.

I didn't read through all 800 + posts from the last couple of days. Did I miss anything big? I know Auburn men and women lost close BB games. And the Saints won. Anything else?

    ReplyDelete
  119. did you see our new OL commit, Cincy?

    ReplyDelete
  120. glad the saints won, but would not want to be on bourbon street tonight

    ReplyDelete
  121. I did! I think the gist was bama thought they were getting him and we did?

Will see you all in the morning. Must go catch up with loving hubby. :)

    ReplyDelete
  122. i've sorted recyclables (it really is easier without a spine), had my ice cream, and finished my homework. Time for a little shuteye before long commute to Southern Pines in a.m.

    Sweeeeet dreams, Hotties...full of hate!!!

    WARRRRRRR EAGLE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  123. JayG...condolences.

    I'm so sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Hi Folks. It was a long day, but I made it to Oregon and was actually able to see most of the second half of the Super Bowl because my flight got in 45 minutes early. That was different. The pilot said that they weren't encountering the expected head winds. I suspect he wanted to see the Super Bowl too.

I missed the second half kickoff/onside kick. Other than that, I saw the scoring in the second half including the overturn on the two point play, which was a great call, and the interception to seal the deal.

Super Bowl games are known to disappoint and this one didn't it was great and although I am not s Saints fan, I was pulling for them. I still picture a Saints fan with a paper bag on their heads.

    ReplyDelete
  125. super bowl champion new orleans saints.

    say it out loud.

the only things i can think of that would sound better are:

"i would like to present the bcs trophy to coach chizik and the AU tigers."

"after much deliberation, the infractions committee has determined the only remedy for the repeated displays of lack of institutional control at the university of alabama is the termination of the football program for 3 years."

    ReplyDelete
  126. Good morning, Hotties! UGH, Monday again. :-(

I'm sorry for your loss, Jay G.

Over the last several years, the SB bowl commercials have gotten pretty lame. The only ones I thought were truly funny were the first two Doritos commericals - the one with the dog and the one with the little boy.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Good morning all.

This is a pretty funny video of how mad "shorty" got when Region committed to AU.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF91uv-72PQ

    ReplyDelete
  128. Hottie Ho!! Glad to be back, but Luv is right - Monday's are tough, especially after a week out of town.

CH=B, that video was hilarious. Some people are so creative.

    Here's to a great Monday!

    ReplyDelete
  129. Monday morning blues...seems to be spitting snow. I crunched when I went out on the back deck. My daughter kept me up until 1:00 a.m. playing Words with Friends which is a Scrabble app for the iPhone. Very addictive. Off to work. Catch up with you at lunch.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Anonymous7:10 AM

    That was funny.

    ReplyDelete
  131. morning all. actually glad to be back at work this morning.

  133. Glad to be back at work, Scottie? While I'm very thankful to have a job, I'm never glad to be back on Monday. I will, however, be glad to get back to the gym today. I didn't go at all last week and I feel like a lump.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Oh, me too, Luv. After 3 days with my daughter and then 4 days with my sisters, I can't wait to get back to the elliptical. I could have exercised when I was with them, but eating was so much more fun!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Cincy, eating is always so much more fun!

    ReplyDelete
  136. i didn't have the best weekend Luv. i needed a change of scenery. sadly work was it.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Mornin' Hotties!

Mais oui, cher...way to geaux Saints!

    War Eagle and out....

    ReplyDelete
  138. Sorry, Scottie. I hope this week is better for you.

    ReplyDelete
  139. JGT/Homer - Nice article today. I really enjoy how you put the true gems in your stories on the 2nd page.

Sorry for your loss. My paternal grandfather dies before I was 1; so I have no memories of him, just some pictures of the two of us. My maternal grandfather died at 86 when I was in college. He was a pretty cool dude in my book. There's no way I could play golf at Lagoon and get past #3 without thinking of him and laughing.

    ReplyDelete
  140. When February ends, I will not miss it.

    ReplyDelete
  141. It just started, PF.

    ReplyDelete
  142. That doesn't change anything,Luv.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Be that as it may Alec, those people have never been in my kitchen.

    ReplyDelete
  144. So now that the Saints have saved New Orleans from Hurricane Katrina, it seems we are now football-less for a few months.

    ReplyDelete
  145. I like February. There are some very important birthdays in February, namely 2.0, my best friend from jr high & high school, and of course, FSJ.

CH=B - that was so creative and funny. Thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete

  157. Good stuff from Jay G in the paper.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Another great article by the Homer.
I will be off for a while am gonig to try and break even with Uncle Sam. I do my own taxes and at this stage of life I just hope I don't owe Uncle anything and it's fine if he doesn't owe me.

    I'm bored.

    ReplyDelete
  160. believe me, digger4AU, Uncle Sam owes you big time.

Condolences to JGT. Lost my grandfather when i was a senior in highschool. It was tough for a while..i was very close to him.

On a brighter note, K3 played in his first basketball game Saturday a.m. We knew they had a good chance of winning since his coach was NOT named Lebo..even if it is rec league.

    ReplyDelete
  167. so far on this slow day we have had almost as many posts as on the entire NSD in 2008... today's count no doubt spuriously elevated by my numerous substanceless posts.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Tar Heel, your posts always contain substance!

    ReplyDelete
  169. See, I've got love....

Except for Monica...and Eddie...and Eddie's name calling posse.

Actually, I've got no beef for some of those mentioned.
