Jeff Lebo + Auburn: Is it love on the rocks?
The Tigers open/conclude postseason play today in Nashville against Florida. We'll be CHATTIN' IT UP during the game tonight -- provided the SEC doesn't pester me about live updates -- and it'll be a fun time.
Here's a look at the matchup:
AUBURN vs. FLORIDA
in the SEC Tournament
When: Today, 6:30 p.m. CST
Where: Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, Tenn.
Records: Auburn (15-16, 6-10); Florida (20-11, 9-7)
On the air: TV — SEC Network; Radio — WMSP-AM 740 and WLWI-FM 92.3 (in Montgomery)
Probable starting lineups:
AUBURN
PG Dewayne Reed (6-1, 175), 16.1 ppg.
G Frankie Sullivan (6-1, 195), 12.2 ppg.
G Tay Waller (6-2, 193), 15.9 ppg.
F Lucas Hargrove (6-6, 220), 12.9 ppg
F Johnnie Lett (6-8, 210), 1.9 ppg.
FLORIDA
PG Erving Walker (5-8, 170), 12.7 ppg.
SG Kenny Boynton (6-2, 185), 13.5 ppg.
F Alex Tyus (6-8, 220), 11.8 ppg.
F Chandler Parsons (6-9, 215), 12 ppg.
C Vernon Macklin (6-10, 240), 10.7 ppg.
Notes: Auburn lost by eight points at Florida last month … The Tigers built their first conference winning streak with wins against LSU and Mississippi State before losing their season finale at Alabama last weekend … Waller has cracked the 20-point barrier in five consecutive league games, which hasn't been done by an Auburn player since 1994 (Wesley Person) … Reed needs one steal to become the program's all-time leader in that category … The Tigers are 0-3 in games played at this arena …

ReplyDeleteTHIS IS THE LAST STOP!
ReplyDeleteAren't we playing Florida??
ReplyDeleteyup...da gators.
ReplyDeleteLebo sucks. I need help with a team name for an upcoming dodgeball tourney. So far I've suggested:
ReplyDelete1.Corey Haim's Prescriptions
2. Bloodbath and Beyond (stolen from the best fantasy football team name ever)
3. Vancouver Luge Track
4. Ball Pit of Death
5. Targets
6. Public Option Waiting Room
Other ideas thrown out have been:
7. There's no I in Beer
8. The motorboaters
9. Mi Cuerpo Es Peludu (because Spanish sounds scary, even when it’s not)
So far, I'm thinking Public Option Waiting Room is my favorite. Anyone have any other ideas, or opinions on the one's we've considered so far?
Maybe I should have explained a little more. Typo in the post. It says we are playing Alabama.
ReplyDeleteAnd just like that....poof...it was gone.
ReplyDeletePlus, it's POWR. Great choice.
ReplyDeleteWes, I caught it. Sorry for the confusion.
ReplyDeletePF, i want some team to come to me one day and ask to be the 'Stay-Pufts' so i can print the Stay Puft Marshmallow man on baseball jerseys. that would be pimp.
ReplyDelete"The Tigers open/conclude postseason play today in Nashville against Florida"
ReplyDeleteCan we be a little more positive? Let's at least admit the possibility exists that we could win tonight. I know, orange colored glasses, but it works for me.
I said "open," which leaves open the possibility of another game.
ReplyDeleteThis guy puts Auburn's SEC title hopes at .3%. That's better than zero.
ReplyDeleteI want us to win this first game.......that's it for now.
ReplyDeleteJG, so you're saying there's a chance?
ReplyDeleteyes!
A thousand to one?
ReplyDelete... More like a million.
i'd put 50 bucks on dem odds
ReplyDeleteAuburn still playing basketball? This must be our one game in the SEC tournament. cincy keep up the good work and wear those orange and blue glasses.
ReplyDeleteHow about:
ReplyDelete"The Death Panel"
"The Sarah Palin Front Porch 5"
"Tickle Me Eric Massa"
"Joe Biden & The Plagiarizer Bunnies"
"Future Walmart Greeters"
"The Drive-By Prius Owners"
Last dance,
ReplyDeleteLast chance, for love.
Yes, it’s my last chance for romance, tonight.
or
Love on the rocks.
Ain't no surprise.
Just pour me a drink,
and I'll tell you some lies.
Got nothing to lose,
so you just sing the blues all the time
A typo?
ReplyDeleteOh noes!
I hope we can extend Lebo's career by a few games, but not beyond this season.
ReplyDeleteY'all laugh, make jokes, have fun, but I say we win tonight. I'm with War Eagle Girl, I just want to win this one tonight, for now.
ReplyDeleteEither all the talk about Lebo's job will pull this team of seniors together and they will play great, or it will mess with their minds and they will play terrible. I'm pulling for the first scenario.
My Vote Peter?
ReplyDelete7. There's no I in Beer
I'm off to buy barstools for the condo, and then get my toes and fingers done so I'll look good for my "welcome to 50" procedure tomorrow. Not that he's going to be looking at my nails! :)
ReplyDeleteSee y'all later. Stay out of the water if you can.
happy shopping Cincy!
ReplyDeleteHarrison ....you might wanna save that $50 for your wife's extra meds if your goin' drankin'.
ReplyDeleteA year ago, Auburn beat Florida to essentially end the Gators' chances to go to the NCAA Tournament. I don't see it happening two years in a row.
ReplyDeleteAnd now, I'm officially out the door.
CincyT ...are you going under for the procedure? I realize that you were in the health profession, but that is still an unsettling procedure for the conscious soul.
ReplyDeleteI plan to be as unconscious as they will allow me to be! Tylenol can make me pretty sleepy, so I'm hoping to be just this side of dead.
ReplyDeleteGot a "prescription" from the Doc last month for that same welcome party Cincy.... I didn't know they wrote 'Scripts for such things.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck with yours!!
For what it is worth, my wife had it and lost a whole day of memory from the anesthesia - even though she seemed wide awake afterwords. Going home from the Doc's office she wanted to eat at Golden Coral - She HATES Golden Coral. OK - whatever - I stop. She eats like a pig getting fried chicken, butter beans, cornbread and black eye peas. That's fine except I have never seen her eat the last three in my life. Then downs three large cookies and puts two in her purse. Once home she decides to take a nap. Upon waking up a couple of hours later she says she his hungry again. I say No Way after all she ate at GC. She calls BS on me and again explains to me of her UAT type hatred towards GC. I told her to look in her purse and tell me what you find - which was cookies wrapped in a GC napkin. She had no memory of it what so ever.
hoopie, I think being in health care makes it worse. My wife is an RN in recovery room, so she knows how these things work and it scares her more
ReplyDeleteGood story, from what I have seen of it, Jay. But I have a problem. I seem to only be able to see 2 pages of the 3 page story. When I click on page 3, it still shows page 2. It could be me, I suppose, but it is strange. I haven't seen this before.
ReplyDeleteSoooo...
ReplyDeleteIs there nothing to the rumor that was so obliquely referenced at the end of the last thread?
Jet,
ReplyDeleteVery good. Tickle Me Eric Massa is really fantastic.
weagle: I have no idea. That's not something you learn on a Thursday in Nashville.
ReplyDeleteUnderstood, JayG.
ReplyDeletePf, I would go with the motorboaters. That is great. I'm stealing that for my new fantasy baseball team name.
ReplyDeleteThat is if "motorboaters" is referring to what I think it is.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the rumor about Newton? Is someone suspecting he is injured? If so, it offers Jay a unique opportunity. He could be the first to break the news to Newton.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's true based on two off-the-record conversations I've had with players during the past few weeks.
ReplyDeleteI may call Cam's dad. I may not. It just depends on what I hear today.
Remember the guy who "broke" the news in 2004 that Jason Campbell broke his legs prior to the Iron Bowl?
Me either.
Someone already broke the news(rumor), and Jay is several hours from the source, anyway.
ReplyDeleteSomeone posted the link on the last thread.
Nothing to it, Steve. Move on. Sorry I brought it up. In fact, someone should ban me and you all should defriend me. I suck.
ReplyDeleteyou do suck. you don't belong here.
ReplyDeleteLOL - fo sho, Peter. Fo sho.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, how many points does it take for Auburn to get the win against Florida today?
i wish i could defriend some people in real life..not in fantasy facebook nerdville
ReplyDeleteLicense to Drive 2 will now never be made. That's a wound only time can heal.
ReplyDeleteget outta my dreams....get into my car.
ReplyDeleteclassic.
It's cool Harrison. We will never meet. Ever. Sleep well, sir.
ReplyDeleteHeather Graham - before she was completely wacko.
ReplyDeleteSolid.
If you have absolutely nothing else to do, here's the blather on Newton.
ReplyDeleteThat forum that broke the news on Newton looks like a fake medical forum. But I did like the slideshow, if you missed it go back and watch it.
ReplyDeleteMan, that story on Newton must be true. It is in a blog on the web. Someone please break the news to Newton.
ReplyDeleteIN all the reading of the Blog and related stories, I saw somewhere in the many words that Shug "doubled" as Auburn basketball and football coach. Not so, he was the basket ball coach in the late 30's broke for WWII and came back and coached until 1947. He went to Ga. as an asst to Butts and came to Auburn as head football coach in 1951. I was a freshman in 1952. Joel Eaves was the Basketball coach the entire time I was there and years after I left.
ReplyDeleteoh, snap.
ReplyDeleteYou are right digger, but it is only a technicality. Shug coached both, just not at the same time.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am going to hold of on believing the Newton story until I see confirmation in an article on the Bleacher Report.
ReplyDeleteI know Steve FC but it sounded like it was at the same time. No big deal it just something that happened in my time at Auburn.
ReplyDelete"Auburn is so much more than a city or a school or a team or a degree. It is something that, once you have experienced it, will live inside of you forever and become a part of what makes up who you are...."---Unknown
Sensi, you never know. I may be looking at you through your window right now.
ReplyDeletenow i'm gonna make a point to meet sensi and give him a big hug beforei die
ReplyDeleteYou guys live in the same city. How do you know you haven't met already?
ReplyDeleteunless I've been to sensi's house I'm gonna guess we've never met
ReplyDeleteBrick, My sweet Brick. Brick, come hug me! I know you want to.
ReplyDeleteFYI: I spoke with someone who knows about Cam Newton's situation and he's fine.
ReplyDeleteIt's believed he had a "minor procedure" after the JUCO season, but he's 100% right now.
This rumor is: BUSTED.
I would know if you looked in my window. It would take a good bit of effort.
ReplyDeleteI don't hug dudes unless at birth celebrations or grief situations.
RUMOR BUSTER
ReplyDeleteThanks JGT for the info.
Jay G is to Rumors
ReplyDeletelike
Duck is to Junebug
Keyboard Hester and Sensi should hang out together in the hot tub and drink beers tonight. All in favor? AYE!
ReplyDeletei'm in
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the Devin Hester comment the other day. It was awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'm here at the Ala-USC game in ... whatever they call this place now.
Did the flask make it past security?
ReplyDeletedevin hester is probably the only guy faster than me anyway, so he was pretty much right
ReplyDeletethat live feedie thingie just tells me there are waaayyyyyy too many "read-only" Hotties. I'm certain they could provide more substance than my usual drivel.
ReplyDeleteSPEAK UP, HOTTIES!!!!
I like the broader point made by the Hester comment. That, you know, unless you are the best at a certain job, you cannot voice an opinion on that job. So since Jay hasn't coached basketball, he really can't comment on the Lebo situation. Since none of us have been world leaders (with the exception of me), we really can't comment on how our President is doing. After all, I'll bet you all think you are Abraham Lincoln behind those keyboards!
ReplyDeleteI'm slower than the wait for an Auburn national football championship.
ReplyDeletei wonder whose posts these "read only" hotties like to read besides Jay G.?
ReplyDeleteMaybe they ready to make themselves feel smarter and better about themselves
I'm an expert on effing up so I feel qualified to comment about that in an effed up way often.
ReplyDeleteI may think badly about myself at some point, but never that badly, Michael. That's just gross.
ReplyDeletei also found some irony in calling me out like he's some kind of tough guy from behind his keyboard. I doubt he would act that way to anyone's face
ReplyDeleteYou smart man, Mr. Harrison. THT say you ready my posts.
ReplyDeleteI wish we all could get along.
ReplyDeleteOh, wait. We do.
I am really confused by your post directed at me, THT. What the heck is going on in here?
ReplyDelete-michael
Michael - I'm just saying I've never felt like a $(&*%^$&*% imperial tyrant, whether or not I'm behind a keyboard.
ReplyDeleteyou could at least have chosen a good president, like maybe William Henry Harrison.
ReplyDeleteAs a Van Buren Boy, I am partial to our 8th President. But I was trying to go more mainstream with my illustration, THT.
ReplyDeleteGood article Jay,
ReplyDeleteIs this the one about Ellis you were working on?
Or did I miss that one?
BEASLEY!!!
ReplyDeletewhat are the chances I could be related to one of them Harrison prez's? we have a lot in common
ReplyDeleteI'd say 92%, Harrison.
ReplyDeleteSince Van Buren is my sworn enemy, I have no choice but to challenge you to a leg-wrestling contest.
ReplyDeleteEverything working right now for SC against the 'necks.
ReplyDeleteI was just talking with Cliff ... no story on him.
ReplyDeleteThe VB Boys are a ruthless bunch.
ReplyDeleteAlabama's defense, its strength, is getting rammer-rodded right now ... 38 points in the first half with :38 remaining.
ReplyDeleteSC leads 38-27 at the half
ReplyDeletenorm...
ReplyDeleteThat was perfect!
Should AU performance in the SEC tournament affect Lebo's employment status?
ReplyDeleteI say no. I say that you evaluate what he has done with what he has had to work with, his incoming class, how you feel he will do with the new arena and what replacement coaches would be viable.
Good teams almost always have
1. Solid fundamentals
2. Good X's, O's, in-game coaching
3. Better athletes than others that have the fundamentals and can execute the X's and O's.
I seem to hear that Coach Lebo does X's and O's well. The few AU games I've seen always seem weak in fundamentals and I hear that we don't recruit well. That's only 1 out of 3 parameters met. Even if you give a half credit for recruiting because of the arena and another half credit for the pathetic fan support, that's 2 out of 3. That's a 67% achievement with a lot of "forgiveness" for extenuating circumstances.
I don't follow BBall, so I don't have a dog in the hunt. I'm also betting that no matter what JJ does, one cadre of folks or another will be upset.
Auburn will pursue Chuck Person and/or Mike Anderson if Lebo gets fired.
ReplyDeleteChuck works with the Lakers as an assistant, makes around $300k per year. I think Auburn would offer $1 million.
ReplyDeleteAt least $1 million.
ReplyDeleteHomer - as another person who doesn't really follow basketball, I seem to recall hearing/reading that AU may have an issue in hiring Person since he doesn't have a degree. Is it accurate that he doesn't and would they overlook it?
ReplyDeleteYour friend,
Norm
The Rifleman comes home???
ReplyDeleteI could support either of those hires...
ReplyDeleteMike Anderson, we all know and have seen what he is capable of on the college level.
Person has coached with/under Larry Bird and Phil Jackson. I would be willing to bet he's picked up some idea of how to be a good coach. His name in state, and association with AU, would bring excitement to the fans, and couldn't hurt in state recruiting. His NBA experience is also a plus.
I have decided that, in college basketball, if you don't have a PG, you cannot be successful. AU does not have a PG. The best PG on the AU roster is a walk-on. Sad.
ReplyDeleteSidney Lowe got his degree on line (via St. Paul's College in Lawrenceville, VA). I've never heard of the school or the town.
ReplyDeleteThis was 25 years after he left NC State and his hiring as NCSU coach a few years ago wasn't consummated until he got that degree.
And yes, the degree is a NCAA requirement, not one subject to being waived by AU.
Chuck Person is a great person, as far as I know, but I don't want a coach at AU who hasn't had the gumption to get his degree within 20 years of leaving AU.
I want someone like D. Downey at AU... he is straight clownin fools right now!
ReplyDeleteCould we give him on of those honorary degrees?
ReplyDeleteIf we go after a former AU player, I nominate Gary Redding. (yes, I'm aware he hasn't been coaching...big deal)
ReplyDeleteTime for Downey to take this game back over. SC got up big and got lackadaisical, allowed UAT to come back
ReplyDeleteSC needs to go back on the attack...
ReplyDeleteMIller-I heard from someone today that Rollinson is working out with the football team. You heard anything like that?
ReplyDeleteI heard he had been reconsidering the transfer.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's a done deal that he's gone just yet.
Is the Rollison Express back on track?
ReplyDeleteStay tuned
This could be big news!
http://bit.ly/UgowL
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say it's back on track.... but, it hasn't been completely decommissioned just yet.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's gonna be an exciting finish in game 1...
ReplyDeleteSC down 2, Downey at the line
missed the first one...
Bama up by 2 with 18 ticks left.
ReplyDeleteI hope he does stay. I like to see competition.
ReplyDelete18.3 left, bama ball up 64-63.
ReplyDeleteSC just blew it.... completely threw the game away....
ReplyDeleteWhat a waste.
They were up by 18 at one point in the 2nd half.
Completely blew it. What a choke.
ReplyDeleteRemember that Auburn wants Rollison to stay through the spring semester to keep its APR situation in tact.
ReplyDeleteI am not surprised by what's happening.
Did they have Lebo on the bench coaching in the 2nd half?? That performance looked very reminiscent of a Lebo 'coached' team.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that as well, JGT... There's no point in transferring mid-semester. Also, I have heard that he would go through spring practice, and if not the guy or the primary backup coming out, he would tranfer at that time...
ReplyDeleteLike I said, I wouldn't decommission the Rollison Express, but I wouldn't say it's back on track either.
It's not back on track.
ReplyDeleteNot yet anyway.
So.... who ya got in game 2? Tennessee or LSU?
ReplyDeleteChuck Person would interesting.
ReplyDeleteI heard on an Auburn radio show (on the Eagle 93.9) from Brian Matthews yesterday that the arena was coming in under budget - like 4 million.
That's money to throw at a coach, no?
Not that Auburn should right now.
ReplyDeleteGive Lebo the Arena Chance
Sensi, you are telling me that it is actually possible for a project to come in under budget? Please don't tell the people I work for that.
ReplyDeleteAll Sensi is saying is "Give Fester a chance."
ReplyDeleteIt's more than $4 million under budget.
ReplyDeletewhats up everyone ready for Lebo's last stand
ReplyDeletePeter my vote is 8. The motorboaters
As far as what Dykes said about Lebo and the facilities. Ellis won and brought in some big name players in those same facilities.
ReplyDeleteNow with that said I hope and will be pulling for AUBURN today and I hope they do well this weekend.
ReplyDeleteJay G
ReplyDeleteI guess you are going to miss the rodeo this weekend in Montgomery
Can't believe y'all let the bammers come back and win this game. That's the last time I leave you in charge.
ReplyDeleteWell, in my outings I have procured a leather ottoman coffee table, a dining room rug, 4 barstools, 3 lamps, 3 bath rugs and various bathroom accessories. Very good shopping day! And my nails look fabulous - too bad I don't have any place fun to go show them off.
Getting pumped for the AU game. Hubby is fixing the TV so I can see it from everywhere - if you know what I mean :)
War Eagle!!
In re Chuck Person:
ReplyDeleteDoes he fully understand what is required, and is he fully committed to providing the unique energy necessary to be a successful college basketball coach?
Being "Chuck Person" is not nearly enough.
Being "Chuck Person" is enough to get started. I think he could certainty build off of that.
ReplyDeleteHoly tax bracket change, batman.
ReplyDeleteokay...I'm a dummy!
ReplyDeleteWhat is an APR????
Annual Percentage Rate???
April?????
Academic Progress Rate. Supposed to measure how college athletes are doing academically.
ReplyDeleteThere's a bunch to it, but bottom line is you can have scholarships taken away if your APR is too low.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cincy....sometimes I just don't have a clue!!! This would be one of those times!!!!
ReplyDeleteCH=B ... Ask Clyde Drexler how that went.
ReplyDeleteI'm not against Chuck, but I'm not for handing him the job because he was a great player for us, coached some in the NBA, and he's Ron Artest's babysitter now.
Jet...it worked for North Carolina and Matt Doherty.
ReplyDeleteOh wait...
CH=B
ReplyDeleteI know Ellis did some dirty stuff but he got the guys here and was fun to watch. I know the some of the guys had attitude issues I had to kick a few out of the ACT. But still I will take SOME of that over sitting on our butts each march
Jimmy Dykes, unsolicited from what I could tell, just said it would be a "major, major mistake" if Auburn fired Lebo.
ReplyDeleteI guess he really does like the guy.
Outside of the 1999 season and the Sweet Sixteen run in 2003, I'm not sure that Cliff's teams were consistently fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteI've said this before, but offensive X's and O's guy Cliff Ellis was not. Our half-court offense was tough to watch a lot of times during his tenure.
Lebo's teams are not fundamentally sound, have no offensive identity and not a single player that would start or play significant minutes on other SEC teams... So what if he has a brilliant x/o mind if he doesn't know what to do with it?
ReplyDeleteDyles might be right. On the other hand, he was a coach and ex-coaches turned sportscaster generally support keeping coaches until too late.
ReplyDeleteNo Ellis was not a X and O guy but he could get them up and get the fans into. basketball does not have to be all X and O's I here that Lebo is the best X and O guy but I have not really seen it the FEW games I have gone to it looks a lot like street ball(reed) most of the time.
ReplyDeleteIf we keep winning, will the sports doods keep lobbying for Lebo?
ReplyDeleteU-betcha
You need a guy that can get everybody fired up and you need a X and O guy. Thats way you have a coaching staff. I don't know if Lebo has that go getter type of guy on his staff. I am ok if we keep Lebo but he needs to bring in a guy on his staff that can do what he can not do. Recruit
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the brilliant x/o's from Lebo in games. What I have seen the team looks like they are playing streetball... they look lost and out of control. Maybe that's what he's teaching them to do, but it isn't winning games.
ReplyDeleteI also despise the fact that when the team is playing like the butt end of a donkey, all he does is sit on the bench and rub his head. He's doesn't use his timeouts wisely, nor does he seem to even be interested in the game...
By the way if you read the OANEWS paper today it sounds like Lebo might be around next few years. Because of money. Lowest paid coach in the SEC
ReplyDeleteMiller I am with you thank you
ReplyDeleteI didn't say what I did about Ellis as a defense as Lebo.
ReplyDeleteI was just saying, as a student from 2000-2004, I went to a lot of games and not very many of them were fun to watch. Frustrating was a better word. Outside of defense and some rebounding, I never thought fundamentals was a word that could really be bandied about with Cliff's teams.
How many teams have you ever seen get called for a 10 sec. violation when they weren't even being pressed??
ReplyDeleteThat is poor coaching. He at least could have been on the sidelines yelling at Reed to get the ball up the court, but no, he was sitting there blankly rubbing his bald head.
He had no more clue what was going on than his senior point guard.
Any halfway decent coach worth his socks wouldn't have let that happen.
No I would say fundamentals where not his strong suit but I was at Auburn from 2001-2003 and thought they were fun. late 90's I would watch them on TV and they were a lot of fun to watch. I would say.
ReplyDeleteI guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
ReplyDeleteI just really liked Ellis and his personality. X and O's NO. Getting in the refs and jumping around getting his guys going YES. You can win a lot of games in basketball by just defense and some rebounding. I don't really see any of that with Lebo last year they went on a eight game run(is that right?)By playing good defense but in six years thats as good as I have seen it?
ReplyDeletee-bro... so you think Lebo is doing a good job?
ReplyDeleteE-Bro I am with you I understand what you are saying you saw it different then I did. A lot of people did not like Ellis because of the dirty things that he did and thats fair. But just like with the football team I like a coach that will dab in the grey area some.
ReplyDeleteGuys 5:00 I am out good luck to Auburn tonight Lebo or not I hope they WIN!!!
ReplyDeleteAs I said before, I wasn't going after Ellis in defense of Lebo. I was just talking about Ellis and Ellis alone with no thought of comparison to Lebo.
ReplyDeleteI know you have to skirt the gray area in College Basketball (although, by many accounts, it sounds like Lebo has a decent class coming in next year), but Ellis did a little more than that. And while he had a good personality with the media and public, behind the scenes it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
He ran a bad program off the court, and I'm not just talking about cheating. He didn't always have control over the team. They lacked discipline, off and on the court. He didn't have a consistent training regimen with the team. I didn't think the players were in great shape.
Beyond that, I would argue that for the talent that Ellis unethically acquired, he should have done better than he did. We should have been making the Tourney all through the beginning of this decade while he was at the helm, not just in 99, 2000, and 2003.
I don't know what all your talking about with Ellis and where you are getting your stuff from One of my roommates worked under him and I was a friend of the family so maybe I saw a different side then you did. Unless you worked with the team or was best friends with the players then you don't know jack.
ReplyDeleteI would like to leave on a happy note so
ReplyDeleteWAR EAGLE!!!
My roommate was the head trainer from 1998 until 2002 or 2003. And to be clear, I'm not attacking Cliff Ellis the man (although my roommate didn't care for him much), but rather Cliff Ellis the basketball coach
ReplyDeleteBut thanks for telling me I don't know jack. I thought we were having a respectful disagreement up until then.
Thanks man.
I know Jack. He's not very nice, and has an inflated sense of self-worth. I almost wish I didn't know Jack.
ReplyDeleteClearly, I don't know him.
ReplyDeleteI know Jack. He's good with coke.
ReplyDeletesomebody please introduce E-Bro to Jack. They should have met a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteOh, that Jack. Yeah, he's not so bad. He gave me some land in Lynchburg and made me a Squire. I guess that counts for something.
ReplyDeleteWhen you've known him as long as I have, you call him John.

ReplyDeleteI find that the only reasonable way to settle disputes like this is to have a measurable judge of right and wrong. Always assume whoever has the longest comment is right. Now, let the war resume.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI think I might have to meet Jack before I get through this jug of stuff. I am only on my second of eight glasses. I'm not a drinker of liquor, but I might be after tonight.
ReplyDeleteI take it you're going to be up all night long, Cincy? Ugh.
ReplyDeleteSo, what is the magic number on the number of wins in the tournament the Dude needs to keep his job? Two wins seems like a good number to me, with Three wins being defined as a miracle and we all pledge allegiance to the Dude.
ReplyDeleteToday, I met someone named Earl. I immediately thought of Mrs & Mr Zookeeper. I wonder how they're doing.
ReplyDeleteJAck and I had a disagreement a couple of years back... we don't get a long well nowadays.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can reconcile someday.
I was against Lebo returning until I realized Lebo is short for Lebowski and now he has the cool Dude nickname. That is really all that is required to attact top notch talent, a coach with a cool nickname.
ReplyDeleteI also think the Dude could help himself out by providing free tickets to basketball games to Trooper Taylor, as long as Troop is willing to bring his towel and sit on the bench with the players.
ReplyDeletewe're getting close to Penguins hockey! But now it's time for...
ReplyDelete1+BEASLEY!!!
ReplyDelete1+Beasley+1
ReplyDeleteSounds like it's gonna be a good crowd for the game
ReplyDeleteIt's a great night for hockey!
ReplyDeleteGO PENS!!!
I'll bet Jack doesn't know jack about catching punts. But what do I know, I don't know jack (or Jack).
