Florida def. Auburn, 78-69

That's a wrap. Florida scored for too many easy baskets and Auburn didn't.

Frankie Sullivan was awesome. Tay Waller wasn't.

That's your story.

I'll add more later.

  3. I asked on the Person thread, but what are ya'lls thoughts on Waller covering his face as he leaves the court?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Was Waller crying ... or what?

    ReplyDelete
  5. They probably should have just not bothered going to the tournament. They could have saved the gas money to help pay for Lebo's buyout.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Well, it was a pretty lousy last game of your college career.

    ReplyDelete
  7. from other thread...it's still a sad way to end the season.....

  8. still not sure how I feel about the Lebo watch....i will just have to defer to the powers that be.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I will not worry about it. No matter what i think, they will not listen to me. They will do what they will do. I will still pull for AU if the hire a new guy or fire Lebo.
Why not hire that dude that coaches the UT womens team. He can really coach.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Waller was upset at himself. It is hard to understand how a player can go from red hot to ice cold so quick. I am sure he was hurting.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Have we hired a new coach yet?

  14. Some Auburn basketball observations (just one man's opinion).

-To blame Lebo totally for tonight or this season is unfair. The talent disparity tonight was very evident. I will not go into the reason for that disparity because I have too many times.

-Whether or not Lebo stays or goes I am ok with the decision. If they do let him go then they had better spend some money and get someone that fires up the fan base.

-I have said more than once that Sullivan is one heck of a player. Who over is the coach next year needs to run the offense through him. Not only is he a good athlete but he understands the game as well.

-I was very disappointed tonight that with his job on the line Lebo showed not fire or passion.

-Not that we would have won(with terrible defense)but that was some questionable officiating. very ticky tack when it came to Auburn.

-The young guys look like that could turn out to be solid players. the team will be much better next year (although the record may not).

  16. Auburn lost.
    Season's over.
    Now you know.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The head coach is ultimately responsible for the success of the team. He has no option but to be at fault for failure.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I was able to log in to the campfire via blackberry but I couldn't post anything. Bummer.

CH=B - if you can't blame the coach, then I don't know who in the hell to blame. Al Gore maybe?

My heart was hurting for Tay Waller. I really like that kid and I know he's going to re-live that game for a long, long time. I hurt for him.

Frankie Sullivan is exactly what everybody thought he was. A gamer and a winner. Although I wish he didn't get quite so much air under the three ball.

Chuch Person as the head coach? Mmmm ... I don't know. I think I like him to much to see him do that to himself.

    ReplyDelete
  19. For the record, I think Billy Donovan is 100 times better at X's and O's than Jeff Lebo, as evidenced by the 25 or so uncontested dunks that Florida had tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'll be the first alarmist.

Chuck Person concerns me greatly. I'm not convinced that handing the keys to the program to a guy who's never recruited a player, nor coached a game in college basketball is a solid plan. Yes, Chuck is a name, but it's a distant name to the youth of today -- and that's who matters.

Are the AAU brokers and HS coaches going to fall at his feet? I don't know.

Does Chuck have a plan, or just a vague notion? I want a guy hungry to be a successful college basketball coach with a plan ready to sell the program and the plan.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Jet,
I'm with you. I don't know who would be right for Auburn, but I don't think Person is he.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Don't forget Lebo was a great at one of the most prestigious programs of all time (UNC). I would not hire Person just because he was an Auburn legend. We need a coach with experience and someone who is looking for a very difficult challenge.

I think Auburn needs a change. Lebo is a good guy but it's time for Auburn to move in a different direction.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Scott ... I'm definitely for change. But I'm not sure Chuck is the change we need.

    ReplyDelete
  24. PF- Yes

John Brady should get a look.

Can we get the coach from Sienna, Niagra, Sam Houston State, Butler, Robert Morris, Montana?

Seems these guys make the tourney every other year in weaker conferences. They get talent. Look at Gonzaga. Anyone know where they are located? They decided to go bigtime several years ago and never looked back.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Cincinnati has West Virginia sweating right now.

Imagine what I could at Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I know these smaller schools play in smaller conferences, and maybe the focus is on basketball more than football... but, they aren't in a major conference with tv deals... They also don't have facilities that beat the Beave... much less better. But, they are still able to attract talent, and get to the tourney, and make a run every once in a while.

I don't think AU has a leg to stand on using the facilities excuse, because that is all it is, an excuse not to go out and put forth the effort to recruit talented players.
In basketball, especially college basketball with top players (freshmen) hopping to the NBA first chance they get), all it takes is 1 difference maker and some role guys to make a run. If you don't put forth the effort to try and get 1 guy to come in to be a difference maker, then I don't want you here.

AU's team is made up of several role players, and that is it. No size, no floor general. That's not because of an AAU restriction (which you can still recruit those kids through other avenues... just pick up the phone... it's a lame excuse).

No, I don't know who the right fit would be for coach at AU. But, after 6 years, I can definitively say that it is not Jeff Lebo. He may be one of the nicest guys in the profession, but he's not working out at AU. It is time for a change. The perfect time actually. New Arena, losing most of your starters (so new lineup)... perfect time to bring in a new coach to inject a new energy into the program.
New energy = renewed interest from the fans.

  30. If I get a vote (and I shouldn't), I vote against the Chuckster. We need someone with college coaching experience. The NBA is a different game, almost like night and day, from college BB.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hi IV,
How have you been? I agree with you on Chuck.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Great. Just waiting for spring practice.

    ReplyDelete
  33. You doing alright?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yep, life is good. Like you, waiting for spring practice and A-Day!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Who ever the coach is next year, I intend to go to a couple of games at least in the new arena.

    ReplyDelete
  36. How are things going with your condo adventure and the likes?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Fun! I have been buying furniture and other stuff today. It is gradually taking shape. Wish we could spend more time over there. We went a couple of weekends ago and will go for A-Day. It has been fun looking for good deals to furnish it. Somewhat keeps me out of trouble- as long as I don;t get too free with the spending :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well, I am off to bed. Guess we will find out AU's BB future soon. Sweet dreams and War Eagle!

    ReplyDelete
  39. You only live once Cincy, go for it. How about the student condo? Have you been able to move it yet? After the bowl game and what this football coaching staff was able to do with a shorthanded team, I can't wait to see what they will be able to do with some talented depth. Should be exciting. Can't wait.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Guess I will call it a night also. Goodnight to anyone left here.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Chuck Person as a coach? I'm not buying that as a good idea. Now if it were Chuck Barkley...I'd be a season ticket holder.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm leaving Cashville for Auburn early in the morning. I hope to be there by noon. Read into that what you will.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think the HABOTN can reach one consensus, regardless of Lebo's status. Should a new coach come to the plains, anyone other than Sir Charles would just be a turrible turrible choice.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Florida scored FAR too many ....

    ReplyDelete
  45. Morning, Hotties!

Well, off for my fexciting day. Don't know what I'll feel like when I get back, so I may or may not see you later today.

    Make it a fun one.

    ReplyDelete
  46. ummm, that should be exciting, fexciting looks a little scary

    ReplyDelete
  47. Good morning all. If you all read my comments I said you can't completely blame Lebo. Yes it is his team and he is ultimately responsible, but how can you not see the impossible task that he has. I'm not saying he has done a great job, and I don't know if he is a good coach. I don't think anyone knows because he hasn't been given a full deck of cards to play with.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Its silly to think that facilities are not a major factor in recruiting(miller). You also can't underestimate the factor AAU coaches have on where a kid goes to school. So Lebo has had probably the two most important recruiting factors taken out of the equation. What do you expect any team to look like when you do that?

    ReplyDelete
  49. And who are these people on here push Barkely? That would be the absolute worst thing Auburn could do. He is a clown that would ruin us. We don't need his racism, drinking, gambling or adultery antics at Auburn. I will say I do drink from time to time and I do gamble from time to time, but you mix them together and in excess and you have issue. Plus he has diarrhea of the mouth.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ok enough out of me this morning. Obviously I'm in the minority for showing any support to Lebo. Like I have said before I can see going either way with him.

When does spring practice start? That is something we can all agree on.

    ReplyDelete
  51. G, I guess you think something is going down if you plan to be in Auburn by noon.

    ReplyDelete

Just start everything new with the new arena and go from there.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Well, hopefully we can resolve this basketball coaching talk and move onto football, since we are a football school :).

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lebo stays. He'll be asked to demonstrate improvement next year, or to resign w/o a buyout.

    ReplyDelete
  59. So as not to be accused of being a Georgia lurker, I'll post this - good morning Hotties. Fire up the phone lines to get the basketball coaching search in high gear. I have no thoughts on a logical replacement because I don't really follow basketball. So, whoever Jet suggests will be fine with me.

    ReplyDelete
  60. 2.0 - I sure hope you're getting some sleep once in a while.

    ReplyDelete
  61. API ... no coach would agree to that.

I think I'll try that on my wife.

"Honey, I let you stay one more year. But if you don't improve, you've got to leave with no alimony."

    ReplyDelete
  62. So what is the latest Jay-O-Meter on Lebo leaving?

    ReplyDelete
  63. I am a useless pile of zombified protoplasm today... but I still HATE UAT

Cincy - you're not live bloggin this morning?

    ReplyDelete
  64. [Lebo yelling above conversations of players as they leave practice]

But that doesn't relieve you of your responsibility for this scheme. Now I'm waiting for suicides from some of you... Listen, I'm not joking. This is my job!

Urban Meyer will return from his "Leave of Absence" just in time for the UF spring practice. Anyone surprised?

Bama has lobbied the SEC to adjust the 2010 schedule so that they won't have to play 6 SEC teams that are coming off a bye week. The SEC 1020 schedule is being held up to make some accommodations. Bama whines a lot and I hate them, but this complaint seems legit.

    ReplyDelete
  80. THT, employ your home defense strategy, stat!

    ReplyDelete
  81. The only complaint I will file is that Alabama's general existence is obnoxious and much like the existence of a virus. Maybe they can do something about that.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Ok, Seanzie. I'm now cowered in a closet. What do I do next?

Actually, it must have been the lady who has come to take Molly out this week. I guess she saw my car in the garage. The door went back down and I saw a blue SUV drive off.

    ReplyDelete

    Another CFB Soap Opera:

Leach is attempting to open some Lubbock School District records. This is presumably in an effort to prove that Tubs was looking into the schools prior to Leach being fired. This is supposedly part of an attempt by Leach to prove that TTU wanted him out and is therefore in breach of contract.

Interesting ....According to some folks, JJ contacted Leach prior to Tubs "resigning" and now Leach is trying to claim the same occurrence with the characters reverse rolls.

Leach is presently living in Key West. Key West is one of those places where you got one of everything ..and now they got Leach.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Seanzie - it just got renamed this month

    ReplyDelete
  92. Hoopie- You should see some of these Leach videos that are floating around the web right now. They are NSFW due to language and coming from a guy that worked with Rick Trickett, Leach takes the cake.

    ReplyDelete
  106. As far as I know, Seanzie, grad students count as regular students. You get to sit with us and everything, although you get first pick when it comes to ticket buying. Basically you'll get all the home games no problem, and be able to attend MSU, Ole Miss Ackbars, UK, and UAT as you wish.

Eddie, I saw those Leach vids, but didn't want to link them for fear of the Banhammer.

What AD in his right mind would hire Leach now that all of this has come out?

YES, PF ...Leach can go full blown pirate in Key West and not even get noticed.

My daughter and her friends spent a couple days of a spring break in Key West just to go watch deviants.

  112. There's a ferry from Naples to Key West daily. It has a bar on it. It does cost more than the air taxi, though, and takes an extra hour and a half. I should take a trip down there, though, before I get out of this place. If I see ML, I'll take pictures.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Anonymous12:43 PM

Lake Allatoona is the first and primary flood control lake for the Coosa river chain. The lake has risen from 12' below summer pool to 2.25' below in the last few days. As soon as no downstream flooding can be assured, the ACOE will open the gates and run water down to Mobile. It will require a week of this to get the lake back down to safe winter flood storage levels.

  116. the three "sparkling lakes" in our old subdivision fed Allatoona Creek, a tributary of the Etowah River. Our house set on top of a hill, 100 feet elevation above and overlooking the 3rd "sparkling lake." It was a retention pond.

  117. PF - I'm sure the eagles have easier prey that isn't as much a threat to bite them. Plus they were probably laughing too hard to eat your dog. At least, that is the conclusion I've reached when Molly dog has been outside with hawks and owls flying around.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Hoopie,

I don't frequent that area, but I know that it's still there. That whole boom of high rise condos was a little ridiculous for this area, and now seems to be mostly unpopulated. You drive down that section of Gulfshore, even in season, and see a good 50% of the units in those buildings with their hurricane shutters still dropped. The same can be said, to a lesser extent, for the high rises on Marco. I hear Cape Coral and FMB are similar, but have never been to either.

    ReplyDelete
  119. So Auburn didn't win the SEC tournament? Doh well.

We moved from Ga. to a new neighborhood built at the edge of the desert in No Scottsdale, Az. We brought 2 cats with us, that were indoor/outdoor cats. Said cats went missing after our first week in Az. Evidently, coyotes roamed the streets after midnight and we had not yet met the neighbors and be warned. Someone then gave us an Arizona-bred "desert savvy cat".

    ReplyDelete
  126. Luckily the coyotes didn't get any animals of value, like a dog or something.

The occasional alligator eating her is my biggest fear. She's usually skeptical of birds of prey, and just chases ducks and cranes and stuff. I'm not sure what came over her, but it was obvious she realized her mistake when she came running in.
