Update on Shon Coleman

Hey everyone. Turns out that DeKeishia Tunstall, Auburn signee Shon Coleman's mother, is an insanely nice and ebullient lady.

She's very appreciative of all the well wishes, texts, Facebook messages and the like. If any of you all did that, I think you made her day. Well ... you made her day better.

She posted another update to her Facebook page last last night. It read, in part:

Shon is home. He's had 4 days of chemotherapy and it hasn't slowed him one bit. It is truly amazing. When Shon entered the hospital last Thursday, he was admitted because the white cell count in his blood was dangerously high. His organs were in danger. Today, zero cells in his blood. His white cell counts are now back within the high side of normal. Please continue to pray for us.

  2. JayGT - thanks for that update, especially for FB deprived people like Harrison and myself. The Colemans remain in our prayers.

  4. Did I miss 2.0's travel debriefing? Facebook said she was inside the arctic circle.

    ReplyDelete
  5. No debriefing yet. She had lousy internet yesterday. She has great internet today, but is out wandering around Tromso. Hopefully she'll give a debriefing later today.

    Y'all are FB friends?

Tromso is a lot like Chapel Hill. Both are university towns with populations of about 55K. Ok, maybe that's all they have in common.

Was her post this morning the first on HABOTN from inside the Arctic Circle?

  6. THT -- I am FB friends with her.

    It's just HABOTN business.

I believe that's the first HABOTN post from inside the arctic circle, though DL has posted from his country's secret, buoyant missile silo 225 miles SSW of the Aleutian Islands. That's worth 1/2 credit.

  7. Good morning, good morning. That's good news re: Shon, I hope his speedy recovery continues.

  8. blowing up ships... buoyant missile silo...

    y'all crack me up.

I'm impressed with the number of "silent Hotties" from North Carolina that show up via Feedjit.

  9. That's good news thanks Jay

  10. Continued prayers for Shon and his mother. They both sound like positive people. That can only help.

Now that 2.0 has gone to Scandinavia, she is out of my limited foreign word vocabulary, so I can't send her an appropriate greeting.

Oh, yes, I can: War Eagle!

  11. For those of you that care... According to the WSJ, the next generation iPhone which should be released this summer will have a Verizon version.

  12. Just got home from traffic court. Stupid nighttime endangered wildlife crossing zones cost me a pretty penny ($600+ before it's all said and done), but no points and charges dropped so my insurance won't see it.

Was talking to wife about what happened. She was in the car coming home from the Ft. Lauderdale airport. Her last words to me were "well,no more speeding." Guess who I got a text message from saying they just got pulled over less than 60 seconds after I hung up the phone? I'd laugh at the irony and karma involve, but it's going to cost me more freaking money.

  13. Jay G,

Did you see my question in the last thread wondering who you think the EAABWAA would award "Beat Hack most likely to break their collar bone during pro-day" plaque?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Glad Shon is doing well. His mom sounds awesome.

  15. No ticket for wife! She talked her way out of it. Turns out they're patrolling by air and had a few dozen people pulled over. I've never been radared by an airplane.

    ReplyDelete
  16. me either, PF. They allegedly use planes in VA. It's hard to keep my eyes on the road when I'm searching the skies. Congrats to wifey!

That was a good question yesterday about the 40 times. I think it got lost in the blogger post malfunction.

  19. PF - tough luck in traffic court. I won my last appearance ( GA )but lost one in the Gump many years ago. I'm still angry about that one.

  20. FSJ - I care. Thanks for that news. iPhone vs Nexus. That could be a tough decision.

  21. Good morning from way out here in California. I'm off to breakfast.

  22. I expected it, API. I got clocked making a pass, speed limit had dropped to 45 for 2 miles at night, and he got me going 69. The outcome is pretty much what I was looking for, even though I hoped for less of a financial penalty. Maybe could've saved some money on the lawyer, but I don't like to gamble and not have one. I was wrong because I wasn't paying attention, but I still hate endangered animals now.

  24. I am truly happy to hear that Shon is responding to the Chemotherapy, Continue prayers for him and the family.
Good morning 2.0 wherever you are.

The Tar Heels are still in the chase for the NIT, right??

  25. My son is looking for an IPhone but we are Verizon customers, so should I get him to wait until summer?

    ReplyDelete
  26. That would be cool, PF. This morning I did get to video chat before I left for work. She was able to check in to her hotel on arrival at noonish and she held her macbook up to the window showing me the beautiful view she has of the town & bay.

But yes, a UStream update would really rock!

Good morning, digger! Basketball? I guess so. UNC is so bad this year I refuse to pay them any attention.

  27. Chris Lowe has a really good interview with Trooper Taylor. (video).
JGT said he would probably have something and it is good.

    ReplyDelete
  28. A bad NC team is better than a lot of what shows up in the NIT.

  29. WEG,

I'd wait until Apple announces the next one which should be in June. Real Steve Jobs will probably give a firm date for Verizon then.

  30. y'all post too fast for me. The "link to prove it" refers to the Chris Low video with Trooper Taylor.

Don't count Tubs out yet. Bammer has 2010 and 2011 still to do something stupid and get on probation.

    ReplyDelete
  40. not sure about Tubs, but i like the way PF thinks!

    ReplyDelete
  41. speaking of Tubs - looks like he just landed on HABOTN a few moments ago.

As did someone from St. Vincent and the Grenadines!

  42. I thought St. Vincent and the Grenadines was one of those late '50s doo wap groups.

  43. California is representin' on the HABOTN. At least for a few more days until I leave that is.

  44. Thanks FSJ for the IPhone update. It has since spread through my office like wildfire, with all the iphone folks ready to get away from AT&T, and all the crackberry folks ready to get an iphone

  45. I heart my Blackberry. I would be ticked if I had to get something else.

  46. A person just doesn't know where to post sometimes. I also posted the following on the Lutz thread.

Has anyone mentioned that the BC basketball coach is out after 13 seasons?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Tony Barbee just sent out an email to Auburn students. I'll post it in a second.

    ReplyDelete
  48. WHAT, ANOTHER BC COACHING CHANGE? YYEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hello hottie in Breaux Bridge, whoever you are!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Dear Auburn Students,

As your new head basketball coach, I am thrilled about the opportunity to represent you and this great university at such an exciting time for Auburn basketball. When I accepted this job, I knew there would be challenges, but what struck me the most was the tremendous potential of this program with everything Auburn has to offer. The university, the community and the fan base are all top notch, and the new state-of-the-art Auburn Arena demonstrates a commitment to this program that will help us take Auburn basketball to new heights.

As your head coach, I promise to stay true to the Auburn Creed as I believe in work, hard work. With that said, my staff and I will not be outworked as we bring the Auburn Family what they deserve. I will give my all in every aspect of the job, from recruiting and coaching to promoting the program. I will do everything in my power to produce a winning program and change the culture of Auburn basketball.

I challenge you, the Auburn students, to create a real excitement around Auburn basketball. You are a part of the team, and I need you there at every game to make Auburn Arena the best home court advantage in the SEC.

You are critical to our success, and there has not been a more significant period to turn this program around than now. The administration shares my feelings, as the design of Auburn Arena prioritizes the experience of the students.

The Auburn Arena caters to students in every way and is designed to create an intimidating home court advantage. Very few students throughout the entire nation will enjoy the same amenities that this new arena will present to you. You will have your own private entrance to the arena, concourse area, restrooms and concession stand. As students, you will have the best seats in the building. The student section will surround three sides of the court on the floor level. You will have an effect on the game like never before, and our atmosphere will be contingent on you. With your help, I truly believe we can have a great basketball atmosphere.

I know we can accomplish all of our goals together. I cannot express how excited I am to be your new coach. I look forward to the next few months as we build enthusiasm for next season and beyond.

    War Eagle!

    Tony Barbee
    Head Men's Basketball Coach

  51. Now we can discuss another BC coaching search for as long as we want.

  53. It appears Feedjit doesn't recognize Windows 7. Also, nice job Columbia, SC running Linux.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Running Linux is an accomplishment?

I've never had to purchase an OS, but if I did, I wouldn't. It'd be Linux all the way.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I know there is this semi unwritten code about talking about past coaches, but did Coach Lebo ever put out a request for the students like CTB did in his letter?

In a passing note I love that our school has a creed.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thanks for the post wells. It's way too long for me to actually read, but it's good to see the guy stirring things up.

    ReplyDelete
  57. MRTD...
Be advised that you are hereby on double secret probation. Another mention of a previous coach will result in substantial penalties.

    ReplyDelete
  58. MrTD, I can't say I ever got an email from him. Coaches in every other sport have sent out emails, or given "come to our games/meets!" shout outs in the Plainsman, but the former Leebs didn't do much promoting.

One of my favorite things about Auburn is the creed. It tugs at me in certain situations.

    ReplyDelete
  59. crap - I knew something like this was going to happen when I mentioned that person never to be mentioned again.

    ReplyDelete
  60. You know we're a pretty easy fanbase, all ya really have to do is ask us to show. I know as a student way back when, I would have.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Reprieve granted. Now that he's gone we can be honest and agree that the guy had the personality of a rock.

    ReplyDelete
  62. As Jesse Jackson would say...

    On the creed,
    We are agreed

    ReplyDelete
  63. Honestly, I can't wait to be there. Hopefully we can get organized with cheers and what not. Everyone just yelling doesn't have the same effect as certain basketball oriented nonsense might. Students on 3 sides are really close to the players and can easily be heard.

  64. ephemeral - I'm guessing the Breaux Bridge Hottie was headed to Pat Duval's for some shrimp gumbo.
