Auburn baseball wins another

Hey everyone. Here's one for the record books.

Auburn overcame a 9-0 deficit to beat Mississippi State 16-14. The game featured seven home run for the Tigers, who clinched a series win for the third consecutive weekend.

The two teams combined for 11 homers, which set a single-game Southeastern Conference record.

Auburn is 32-15 overall and 14-9 in league play.

Today's heroes? Dan Gamache (3-for-3, 3 R, 3 RBI) hit two home runs and was joined by teammates Brian Fletcher (2-for-5, double, 4 RBI), Hunter Morris (3-for-5, double, 2 RBI), Kevin Patterson (2-for-3, 2 RBI), Casey McElroy (2-for-5, double, 2 RBI, 3R) and Ryan Jenkins (2-for-4, 3 RBI) in taking home run trots.

The teams continue their series on Sunday at 1 p.m.

  1. 7 HR in a game is a FIRST for AU!

    That's substantial!

Fans are going to be able to vote for the song to go along with the intro video. Go to this site to see the list of songs. You can also make a suggestion.

I don't think there are too many hip hop fans on here but I think those are the best songs in these situations. I think it helps get the fans and players fired up.

There are a couple good choices. There is the obvious "Eye of the Tiger". That Tiger Walk song i on the list. I didn't know Travis Williams did that song. I really like it and voted for it. I think if would be cool to have a former player's song selected and maybe become a second traditional sont (second to Eye of the Tiger obviously). The song by Trick Daddy wouldn't be bad. I also like the song Put On by Young Jeezy. Doesn anyone know what movie that song was written for? It came out last year or the year before and it was a cop moving set in NYC..I think. I want to rent it if I can ever remember what it was.

  4. Miller I'm hoping he doesn't do camps. From his comments he doesn't seemed interested in even hearing from other teams.

I was reading an article about Cothron and something really stuck out to me. He is 6'8" with a 31" vertical. That is really impressive. Usually its the shorter guys with big verticals. This kid can really get up. I see him blocking a lot of shots if he has that instinct.

  5. PF and I have decided all Hotties shall vote for Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen as the intro song. Use the write in option, since they haven't put it officially on the ballot yet. Do it or else.

CH=B what is a Trick Daddy?

  7. I believe a trick daddy is when you think your baby daddy is one person, but then he tricks you, and celebrates as such.

  8. I was outside in Prattville late this afternoon for a photo shoot for Stewardess and Appendage ... the wind was blowing vociferously from the north. I presume they were getting the same in Auburn. That might explain the home run derby.

  9. Only in the Auburn/Miss State series can you have a 16-14 baseball game and a 3-2 football game.

    ReplyDelete

I think I will use my write in for Zeppelin's Immigrant Song.

CH=B on Cothron sources are telling me the first thing we need to happen is to get him on campus there maybe some grade issues. Will check a few sources to see what i kind find out about our newest commit but indications are he is a true diamond in the rough and a hidden gem.

  12. Wind was blowing out today at the game. A great day for an offensive game. Several homers by AU were just solid blasts to right center. All they had to do was get the ball in the air. One guy for AU hit what I thought was a pop fly to left and the wind had changed and carried it over the green monster.
I think I will go back next Saturday to catch another game. Great atmosphere for a college game if you have not been in a while.

  13. Thanks for all the great AU news today, Homer.

    GET SOME!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. to top it they will both have to throw 12+ innings of perfect ball to a 0-0 until AU hits a walkoff homer.

fat bottomed girls always vote for me. i guess its time to return the favor.

  29. I believe AU baseball is tied for 2nd in the west with Arky after last nights games. We are 1 game out of 1st. No reason we can't sweep St. today and if OM beats Ark, be in 2nd all by ourselves. If Arky wins, and AU wins, I think all 3 will be tied for 1st at 16-9.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think they're going to Hoover ... on the same weekend as BIG CAT.

    ReplyDelete
  31. AU has Tenn next weekend and should be able to take the series and then finishes at OM the next weekend. Just like in football, all I ever ask for is to be in control of your own destiny at the end. If we can take Tenn. that should set us up to decide the West winner the next weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Getting to first in the West would be huge. That'd bring the number 2 seed instead of 4 or 5. Much better road to glory!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anyone notice the home runs to RBI numbers for the DH Kevin Patterson for AU. He hits behind Hunter Morris. He has 13 homers and 23 RBI. You would be hard pressed to find those kind of numbers on another team.

  34. Someone in NYC yesterday expressed his wish for MrsTHT and me that Tuscaloosa would burn to the ground. He's so thoughtful.

AUBURN LADIES GOLF - finished 3rd in the regional in Greenville, NC, this weekend, earning a spot for the team in the NCAA championship May 18-21 in Wilmington, NC. USCe was the team winner. AU freshman Carlie Yadloczky finished in 2nd place in individual scores, her 5 under total just one stroke behind USCe's Katie Burnett.

    TEAM scores:
    USCe 864 (even)
    UTn 866 +2
    AU 868 +4

  39. JayG-Just read the article by Tim Gayle on Pat Fossum, the 75 yr old duathlete. Quick story:
The Montgomery Bike Club does time trials every week in Deer Creek. They pair you up with whomever you wish to start with (2x2 every 1 minute). My friend said 'Don not team up with the older looking lady, she will run you over." I was eyeing her at first because I thought I could beat her. Glad I passed, she blew several experienced guys away.

I don't watch that crap, but had a good time at the Tampa Bay vs. Austin game last night. Crazy to see a soccer game played in a baseballl stadium, dirt on the field and all, but it ended up being a great atmosphere. It was Tampa's first home game as a new club, and they sold out. Play is suprisingly solid, action filled, and fun to watch live.

I've been to two games now, and feel I've seen enough to say that the refs are not good at all at the second division level.

Officially a wrap on the EPL season. I'm glad Chelsea brought the title back to a club not named ManU.

I'm with you E-Bro, they got what they deserved. Ferg's getting a little full of himself.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Also, there are certainly times and places for jerseys. I usually restrain myself from wearing them unless I'm at a specific sporting event featuring the team of which jersey I am wearing. Unless watching said game on TV with some amigos.

    ReplyDelete
  52. But 8-0??? That's nasty. The HOTTIES' favorite striker Drogba had a hatty.

    ReplyDelete
  53. If you are over 13 and male, the only place for a jersey is on the field playing.

  57. wells...I was saying United didn't deserve to win b/c of their on the field effort. The showed up for the title showdown with Chelsea a few weeks ago not ready to play...in front of their own fans at Old Trafford. No excuse for that.

As for Fergie, yeah, he can be a egotistical (winning the EPL 11 times, the CL twice, and FA Cups and League Cups numerous times will do that to you) and arrogant like any top manager, but compared to just about every other manager, he's the first to admit when his team just weren't good enough, like last year in the CL final. He certainly doesn't make any more excuses than any other top coaches.

No worries, though. We'll be back stronger and better next year I'm sure. :P

    Long live Fergie and United!

  59. AU gives up 1 in the top of the first, but responds with 3 in the bottom of the 2nd and chases the State starter in the process. The bad news: stranded 2 on base and failed to execute a sacrifice bunt, but a double made up for it.

    After 2,

    Auburn 3, Miss. State 1.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Dayton gives up a 2-run HR ... but then settles down to get out of the inning.

Going to the bottom of the 3rd, game tied at 3.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Fletcher leads off with a HR, then Auburn gets two on with walks, but two outs later and it looks like an opportunity will be squandered. Jenkins, though, picks up his second hit and RBI with a single.

    After 3,

    AU 5
    State 3

    ReplyDelete
  62. AU doesn't believe in making it easy ... gives up a 2-out single ... then gets ahead 0-2 before giving up a double with an error added in on the play to let the Puppies score one. A flyout ends it ...

Tigers lead 5-4 going to bottom 4 with the top of the order coming up.

    ReplyDelete
  63. 2 quick outs, then Fletcher homers for the 2nd time today ... Morris flies out to end it.

    AU 9
    State 4

    ReplyDelete
  71. Ray gets out of it with a K. AU coming to bat in the sixth leading 9-7.

  79. AU bats go quiet ... McElroy was HBP, but that was it ... after 7, AU 9, STate 8.

AU to bat in 8th, leading 9-8.

    ReplyDelete
  81. The little things matter ... a stolen base puts a runner in scoring position with one out ... a pop out leads to a HBP, and Morris single to make it 10-8 puts runners on the corners.

    ReplyDelete
  82. State changes pitchers ... eight ball in nine pitches ... loads the bases, then brings one home. 11-8, bases loaded, 2 outs. Gilmer at the plate.

Some have said it is just a way to get the pressure off of him from everyone in Cullman. Some say he jumped too soon to AU after having a disagreement with the staff at UAt.

He says he will graduate early and enroll in January. He has been recruiting for AU and was at TP about 2 weeks ago and took photos with several AU fans. Only time will tell.

  109. PF-I believe I read where the magic number is 2 for AU.
Any combo of AU winning 2 or UAt losing 2 (they are in 9th place) and Au is assured of a trip to Hoover.

  110. Yep, wtc...the likelihood of not making it is somewhere between slim and none. AU would have to go 1-6 or worse, and Bama would have to sweep both series. Not gonna happen.

  112. Dallas Braden. He is on my fantasy team and got me 78 points. Sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Dallas Braden is the pitcher who started yelling at A-Rod when he walked across the mound during a game.

He and A-Rod have been trading words in print for days. A-Rod said something the other day about not extending Braden's 15 minutes.

After the perfect game, Braden's grandmother, who was in the stands, told a local report "A-Rod ... stick it."

If she had only said ... "Get some."

    ReplyDelete
  114. Oh. That explains why I've never heard of him. His claim to fame involves A-Rod, and I don't read stores with A-Rod in the headline.

As Braden celebrated the feat, Sunday night's Yankee starter, A.J. Burnett, was alone in the Fenway clubhouse and watched Braden. As Braden hugged an older looking woman, Burnett said out loud, to no one in particular, "Grandma, don't cross my mound."

  118. Just got down watching Episode 9 of "The Pacific". It's been great so far and next week is the last episode, which will cover the main characters' reentry into society after the war is over.

I've stated this before, but one of the main characters in the series is Eugene Sledge, a Mobile native who attended Auburn after the war and later went on to write one of the foremost firsthand accounts of WWII.

Anyway, in the preview next week's final episode, it shows Sledge walking into what looks like a classroom and a woman asks him something of the nature, "What did you learn fighting in the Pacific that you can use at Bama Poly."

I froze instantly and rewound it to make sure I heard it right, and I did. So looks like Auburn University is going to make an appearance in the Series Finale under the guise of Alabama Polytechnic.

I thought that was pretty cool. And it also formed a question in my mind for the older, much wiser generation of Hotties:

Was "Bama Poly" a frequently used nickname for Alabama Polytechnic?

  124. My dad was in the south Pacific in WWII ... Bama Poly and Alabama Poly were not used ... API perhaps would have been used ... but the most common name was Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Even when our official name was "API", everyone, and I mean everyone called us AUBURN.

I had the great pleasure to meet and become friends with one of Eugene Sledge's sons when he attended Auburn. His son John became a history major.

  126. Good morning, Hotties! Happy Monday!

Took a break from elliptical today and did Booty Camp DVD. I think I died and no one has told me yet. I am already so sore I can hardly move. Later today ought to be interesting. Maybe I can shop the soreness out :)

  127. Can't believe Saban has infiltrated HBO, in his attempt to make it that Auburn is not mentioned anywhere.

  128. I hope all the hottie Moms had a great Mother's Day. Auburn baseball is goin great!! Much better than the pro team I follow. Thanks for the play by play Smezmer.

  129. Booty Camp DVD. If you're too tired maybe you need to try the Booty Sweat energy drink.

  130. Seanzie,
That sounds gross! I hate to sweat, much less think about drinking something named that.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I have no idea how anyone can drink energy drinks on a regular basis. I get the once in awhile thing, but there are those that drink them like water. How do you ever go to sleep at night if you do that.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I have never had an energy drink. I am already so hyper, I can't imagine how "over the edge" I would be with one. The caffeine in a diet coke with lime about twice a week is enough for me! Or the occasional cup of coffee - if you have good flavored cream to go in it. You know coffee is only the vehicle for chocolate or caramel or such.

  133. Oh I checked out the song list for the intro, and I think there are a couple songs, that might have a problem getting in just because of the lyrics. Oh yeah I went and took a look at the lyrics to see if they were going to match the intensity and meaning for the team, because I'm weird that way. Let's Go with the original words, might just not do. Pretty cool with the Crazy Train sample on it. That's the one that came to my attention the most.

  134. mornin' hottt ones. another monday. yippee!

  135. "Booty Sweat" is a fictional energy drink marketing by fictional character Alpa Chino in the film Tropic Thunder.

I used to be an energy drink addict. I no longer am a fan.

  136. Booty sweat - nummy.

  137. Thanks for the feedback on the API stuff.

Even if HBO has fudged the name a bit (I just saw a three second preview, so maybe they more or less get it right throughout the episode), it's still been amazing watching Auburn alum Eugene Sledge's story unfold.

  138. Morning Hotties

I don't drink any energy drinks. I've probably tasted Red Bull once and didn't like it. A couple cups of coffee in the morning, water throughout the day and possibly a beer or 2 at night and that's it for me.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Vault Zero, the hyrbid energy soda w/ no calories, is my all time favorite and usually the only one I will buy.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Is Beer the anti-Energy Drink or is an Energy Drink the anti-Beer? Hmm. Life's little rhetorical questions.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I'm guilty of downing a couple of red bulls on a long late drive down to Disney World when we arrive after midnight. That's the only time I would dip into the "energy" drink arena.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I need to get down to the DeeDub at some point this year. I need to keep the streak intact.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I've never been to Disneyworld. I would like to change that.

  144. Mr.TD,

That song is probably one of the most played stadium songs of the last decade. Vote for Fat Bottomed Girls.

  145. Eduardo ...

Your choice of avatar is, frankly, shocking.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I have had my fair share of energy drinks in my day.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I've had a few Red Bulls and Vodka one night.....never again.

ehyou, I've never been either. Can't wait till my FAUWG gets a little old so that we can take her.

I lost my wedding ring on Saturday while spreading mulch. I searched all through the mulch trying to find it but couldn't. I knew one of my neighbors had a metal detector but he was out of town so I had to wait to Sunday evening to borrow it. I made 5-6 passes and could never find it. Just when we were about to give up I decided to make one more pass. I found the ring and the funny thing is that I didn't find it with the metal detector. While the detector was busy detecting something completely useless to me I just happened to be standing in just the right spot and saw the ring under the leaf of one of my Hostas.

  151. Anyone seen Gran Torino?

    ReplyDelete
  152. Yep, great movie. If you are easily offended, however, I would stay away.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Watched it Saturday and loved it. It was different than what I was expecting. You are correct in that those with who are easily offending should not watch.

    ReplyDelete
  154. There may or may not be a Facebook group promoting Fat Bottomed Girls for Auburn's Intro Music.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I do not argue that Fat Bottom Girls would make a hilarious into song, but it would also be the tackiest and most redneck thing ever. I could see that for the walmartians not us.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Home grown or not, The T-Will song is obnoxious.

  157. CH=B,

You're totally missing the point. I'm not going to explain it, though.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Have y'all seen this new attempt by Troy King to re-try Gabe Watson here once he's been released from Australia?

    ReplyDelete
  159. I read that article yesterday. Good read. Should King be focusing on other things? We have more serious issues in this state. I know we don't have all of the details, but from what I read I'm not so sure Gabe is guilty.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I'm with ya CH=B. It will be interesting to see how it further develops.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Hello, Hotties!

I personally had a great Mother's Day, even got to take a nap.

CH=B, glad you found your wedding ring.

I saw Gran Torino when it was at the theatre and thought it was a very good movie. It certainly could offend people, but I thought the language and violence fit the story.

I really don't appreciate it when an out-of-character word or situation is put in a movie, just to bump it to an R (or in some cases, a PG rating).
