Here's the "shot clock" ... you'd better enlarge this shot to see it. (It's the red zero just below the scoreboard.) Pitchers have 20 seconds to throw their next pitch when no runners are on base. Teams have 108 seconds to prepare themselves between innings.
How do you think they keep those logos looking so good all day?
Fellow beat hacks (L to R) Andy Bitter, Charles Goldberg and Phillip Marshall in the midst of difficult mental preparation prior to today's game.
GO TEAM!!
ReplyDeleteJGT - Please blog us some AU dongs today.
ReplyDeleteBeat the Cocks!
ReplyDeleteso Gamache & McElroy swapped spots in the lineup. That should do the trick!
ReplyDeleteE-Bro - nope, only AU's was directly related to expecations ;-)
ReplyDeleteI see Tater hovering over the crowd in the media suite.
ReplyDeleteIf I could attend BCW or SEC baseball tournament, I'd choose BCW. Instead, I'll just attend work.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know a radio station / website that is streaming the game?
ReplyDeletePhoto gallery going up momentarily.
ReplyDeleteGreg, I think WMSP is streaming it.
ReplyDeleteI think I remember Norm saying yesterday that he listened there.
THT,
ReplyDeleteI don't think you're going to be invited to BCW any time soon....the baseball team, though, has offered an invitation to watch them.
Great lookong field there in Hoover.
ReplyDeleteGreg - Link
ReplyDeleteHomer - you're correct, I did mention it yesterday. Unfortunately, yesterday their stream was actually reliable for me and I was able to listen to the whole blasted game.
To Eddie: Didn't know I was going to make you even downer yesterday so today if they win you get all the credit!! :)
ReplyDeleteGo Tigers--War Eagle!!
It's always great to be an Auburn Tiger!!!!!!
Thanks Jay & Norm!
ReplyDeleteBONUS photo gallery has been posted.
ReplyDeleteplease tell the 'hacks I said hello.
ReplyDeleteDoes Goldie always have that "for breakfast, I had two bloody marys and an opium based painkiller" look on his face?
ReplyDeleteLet's go, Auburn!
ReplyDeleteJayG, please get one of your fellow hacks to take a picture of you. Then we can all use it as our avatar.
Peter: The man just had surgery. He may be using prescription opiates, but I don't think he looks too harried.
ReplyDeleteNot harried, just exceptionally happy. I think it may be magnified by being bookended by a serious looking AB and sleeping PM.
ReplyDeleteBitter ... hard at work.
ReplyDeletePM is a homer, hence the concerned/worried look.
ReplyDeletePM knows Eddie has expectations, which can only mean one thing ;-)
ReplyDeleteDid someone remember to ship the bats to Hoover for today's game?
ReplyDeleteSou USC has a kid named Jackie Bradley, Jr.
ReplyDeleteAll I can think about is Jackie Rogers, Jr. $100,000 Jackpot Wad ... from SNL circa 1984.
Unbelievable catch by Fradejas in right. Ball was deep in right-center ... Fradejas tracked it down and finished the play with a dive toward the wall. Outstanding.
ReplyDeleteIt sure sounded outstanding.
ReplyDeleteHe already has won the Allstate "You're In Good Hands" play of the game.
ReplyDeleteExcellent catch by USC's right fielder there ... no dive, though.
ReplyDeleteBien Hoa, Vietnam just signed in. HABOTN is world renowned baby.
ReplyDeleteVietnam?! In Vietnam, Google searches you.
ReplyDeleteHope Fletch is okay. He's out.
ReplyDeleteFletcher is out because of lingering discomfort in his hand. He was hit by a pitch in the 1st inning.
ReplyDeleteCreede Simpson is in.
ReplyDeleteNice, Seanzie.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if Fletch's hand/wrist is broken. Fastball up and in caught him solid. Hope not.
ReplyDeleteThe Jackpot Wad transcript is excellent stuff.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind 5 straight singles here.
ReplyDelete"Elimination Thursday" has a certain nervous ring to it.
ReplyDelete5 straight singles will get us a couple.
ReplyDeleteehyou ... do you remember that sketch? It was exceptionally funny.
ReplyDeleteDP, worst possible outcome.
ReplyDeleteIs there a rule in Regions park that you MUST give a foul ball to a kid? I watched all four games yesterday and can't remember an adult keeping a ball....Several went as far as to chase down kids to give it to.
ReplyDeleteC-Mac throws wide and pulls Hunter off the bag in a double play that would have ended the inning. Luckily, it wasn't a costly mistake.
ReplyDeleteDING DONG off the bench!
ReplyDeleteNow Auburn needs multiple huge ding dongs.
ReplyDeleteWooHoo...ready for the hits to start coming!
ReplyDeleteLet's see if the rest of the lineup catches the DING DONG fever. I hear it's contagious.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember the skit. I've got to find and watch when I get home and can properly laugh.
ReplyDeleteJGT blogging AU ding dong!
ReplyDeleteLet's see that again!!!
I want more AU taters!!!
things started going sour when I was eating Chee-tos yesterday during lunch. Should I throw my Chee-tohs away today?
ReplyDeletenah, I'm throwing down these Chee-tohs. YUM!!! After all, it was Eddie's expectations, not my Chee-tohs.
ReplyDeleteHave now surpassed yesterday's season low hit count.
ReplyDeleteArchie's Oyster Bar was burglarized and burned last night. Them's good people. Sux.
ReplyDeleteTell Andy to ditch that Dell and get a Mac..
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Fake Steve Jobs.
Magic Carpet Ride playing between the inning.
ReplyDeleteContinuing the 70's/80's rock theme.
FSJ! Howdy infidel!
ReplyDeleteAuburn is hitting better today, for sure, but I've seen more trash at-bats than expected.
ReplyDeleteFradejas in the 5th (first-pitch popout) and Patterson's hideous K in the 4th stick out.
Why is Auburn the visiting team? I assumed that the higher seed would be the home team throughout the tournament. Obviously, that's not the case.
ReplyDeletetime for USCe hurler to pull out his gopher pitch
ReplyDeletethat's not the 6th inning I was looking for
ReplyDeleteGood Pitching stops Good Hitting didn't help the Braves win very many WS when they had one of the best pitching staffs ever assembbled.
ReplyDeleteLots of Jean shorts in the crowd.
ReplyDeleteGrant Dayton through 6 innings: 78 pitches, 55 strikes.
ReplyDeleteThat's UF love showing up early.
ReplyDeletethat's not the 7th inning I was looking for, either.
ReplyDeletesurprised to see it already in the 7th after my connecting flight to atl
ReplyDeleteUSC DING DONG
ReplyDeleteI may have to upchuck those Chee-tohs.
ReplyDeletei'm glad grant didn't get flustered. good inning for him after that ding dong
ReplyDeleteChicks dig the long ball.
ReplyDeletetop of the order; crank it up, AU!
ReplyDeleteJGT on extended 7th inning stretch. Y'all keep me up to date on what's happening.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Jay's left us. Keep the updates coming.
ReplyDeleteUSC starter Blake Cooper is removed.
ReplyDelete100 pitches.
1 earned run in 7 2/3. Not too shabby.
There he is! Savin' him up for... NOTHING!
ReplyDeletehe=JGT
ReplyDeletehim=Cooper
Not bad at all. Cooper pitched well today. I hate that AU's going to have to give him a No Decision when they beat him.
ReplyDeleteAU 8th, I hardly knew ya
ReplyDeletecan we turn 2?
ReplyDeleteThat's it for Dayton.
ReplyDelete7 1/3 innings, 94 pitches, 67 strikes.
Jay thanks for the pics.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I do!
ReplyDeleteaustin needs a great day
ReplyDeleteBEASLEY!!!
ReplyDeleteKennesaw...
ReplyDeleteWay to keep the streak alive, THT.
ReplyDeleteclutch work, Seanzie!
ReplyDeletenow it's time for some clutch relief pitching from the AU bullpen.
ReplyDeleteHunter Morris...huge catch.
ReplyDeleteBaseball takes years off your life.
ReplyDeleteTony Caldwell pinch hitting for Patterson ... and USC calls for a pitching change.
ReplyDeleteReliever's first pitch goes to the backstop.
ReplyDeleteDoes a pudgy 2009 Hunter Morris make that play? I say no.
ReplyDeleteso 2 quick outs...
ReplyDeleteugghhhh!!! We needed some runs!!!
ReplyDeleteI just noticed that teams have 108 seconds to prepare themselves between innings. If they're not ready after that do planes start falling out of the sky?
ReplyDeleteUnless someone presses the button...yes.
ReplyDelete2 down, 1 to go for extra innings.
ReplyDeleteThat's another K for Hubbard...inning over.
ReplyDeleteI press the button.
ReplyDeletewhy is 107 seconds not enough time and 109 seconds too long?
ReplyDeletewe're going to need more than 1 run to win this game. Yes, that should be obvious. So why aren't we GETTIN SOME!!!
ReplyDeleteThis pitcher for the Chickens is throwing some serious cheese.
ReplyDeleteFinally got an internet connection. Just in time for extra innings.
ReplyDeleteJG ...Tremendous thanks for stealing 3 innings from the in game HABOTN blogging so we could meet.
Note to the HABOTNISTAS: JG is an even better dude in person.
Back to the game.
JayG = Desmond Hume
ReplyDeleteThanks for your support, Hoop.
ReplyDeleteHard times here.
ReplyDeleteTwo runners on, 1 out.
Time to turn our attention to BCW?
ReplyDeleteGroundout to pitcher.
ReplyDelete2 out, runners on 2nd and 3rd.
USC's No. 4 hitter is up.
Hubbard staying in.
hitter gets a free pass?
ReplyDeleteThey're throwing to him.
ReplyDeleteHe's 0-for-3 today.
Now they're walking him ... once Hubbard went down 2-0.
ReplyDeleteplaybyplay greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteGroundout to pitcher.
ReplyDeleteThree outs.
Inning over.
LET'S GO TIGERS!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhew!
ReplyDeletePHEW! That was more suspense than necessary.
ReplyDeleteDouble off the wall in right from Caldwell's bat.
ReplyDelete2 outs. Runner on ... second.
Gamache struck out.
ReplyDeleteOn to the bottom of the 11th.
6 dinky singles and one solo tater in 11 innings. That ain't good enough.
ReplyDeleteFINALLy. a double.
Please tell me we didn't strand him out there. PUH LEEEEEEZ
so... what's the latest on Big Cat Weekend?
ReplyDeleteThat it's occurring?
ReplyDeleteUSC bench with little league rally caps on...I hope they don't work.
ReplyDeleteRe: BCW...just trying to think happy thoughts.
ReplyDeletescoring 1 run in 11 innings is not a happy thought, especially with chicken in scoring position
Where can I get season tickets for Auburn ice hockey??
ReplyDeleteAuburn's lowest two-game scoring output prior to the SEC Tournament: 5
ReplyDeleteSecond worst? 10.
Today and yesterday? Two runs.
Auburn now has runners on 1st and 2nd, 1 out.
ReplyDeleteFradejas (No. 1 hitter) up.
Now we're talking, Comm'r! Let's watch AU Puck!!!
ReplyDeleteEverytime I hear Bramblett say Gamache I hear ganache. I think I need some cake.
ReplyDeleteWalk.
ReplyDeleteBases loaded.
Let's have a BIG DING DONG!!!
ReplyDeletebase hit, jump around!
ReplyDelete3-1!!!!
ReplyDeleteMummey single, two runs in.
ReplyDeleteWoooHooo!!!!
ReplyDeleteBase hit or ding dong.......Who cares as long as we score!
ReplyDeleteGOT SOME!!!
ReplyDeleteTime to choke the life out of the chickens
Choke the chickens with a ding dong?
ReplyDeleteSacks are juiced.
ReplyDeleteCaldwell lookin' for a dong.
I hate this fast pitch softball pitcher. Watched him yesterday, and I swear his knuckles hit the ground on a few pitches.
ReplyDeleteGo Tigers!!!
ReplyDeleteFINALLY!!! I'm liking this score now. They were making me nervous!
ReplyDeleteHunter Morris with a BLAST???
ReplyDeleteIBB. and then Caldwell K's.
ReplyDeleteboo the chicken chickens. I wanted HM to get a huge tater.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else lose the radio feed?
ReplyDeleteRadio feed dead.
ReplyDeleteSame here.
ReplyDeleteUSC has a runner on 1st, 0 outs.
ReplyDeleteStrikeout, 1 out.
ReplyDeleteK!
ReplyDelete2 away......come on!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMummey injured during that flyout?
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's his right hamstring.
ReplyDeleteIt's up to you now Jay G....as we wait in suspense!!!!
ReplyDeleteTell us something good......
oh no!!!!!not Mummey!!!!!
Love the trainer with a hand that looks like it went through a meat grinder trying to fix Mummey.
ReplyDeleteWaiting with baseball breath....
ReplyDeleteHe's staying out there.
ReplyDeleteie Will play this at-bat in centerfield.
ReplyDeleteF9.
ReplyDeleteThat's a wrap. 3-1.

ReplyDeleteWar Eagle!!! Great job Tigers!!!
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Tigers!
ReplyDeleteAU Lait!
Go Ole Miss.....want to even it up with Bama.
ReplyDeleteI love Auburn. Baseball, not really.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being my eyes and ears from over here in GA today Mr. Tate......(I'm sure my boss appreciates it very much!!!)
ReplyDeleteWDE!! Thanks JayG and everyone else for the great coverage while I was handicapped at work.
ReplyDeleteWAR EAGLE!
ReplyDeleteThat 12th inning had substance!
ReplyDeleteMucho substance.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to give Eddie all the credit! :) Way to go Eddie! Your positive thoughts today got us through!!
ReplyDeleteEd-die, Ed-die, Ed-die.
ReplyDeleteNobody pays to go to the ballpark to watch the umpires....bleep bleep bleep bleep bleep bleep.
ReplyDeleteAll Eddie's are not created equal, however. His father and namesake had a bad feeling about today.
ReplyDeleteJr got the better of him today. What's the early thoughts on tomorrow Eddie?
I sat in my truck at lunch listening to the game on XM. I am exhausted now! I need a nap.
ReplyDeleteSomeone keep us up to date on the Ole Miss score. We don't need a play-by-play, just a score update periodically!
Any word on Mummy?
This show is funny...lady just said "that's what she said" in response to "a very short show."
ReplyDeleteJust bought my tix for tomorrow! Little Miss Choco and Mini-Me-Choco will be accompanying me to the game. Mrs. Choco is going to stay home and prep us for lake time. Yay summer!
ReplyDeleteStretch, Liquids, stay in the game sounds like cramps for Mummey....Fletch had begative x-rays.
ReplyDeleteKathy, Ole Miss and UAT don't play until 4:30. UF vs Arky before that.
ReplyDeletewow the KU ticket scandalis nuts.
ReplyDeleteThanks Choco. I'll be home by then! Wish I could attend tomorrow's game. You and the kids pull us through!
ReplyDeletePeter scooped me.
ReplyDeleteMummey is fine.
Fletcher has been hit on that hand before. Xrays were negative. He's day to day ... really day to day, not the way Gene Chizik means it.
"really day to day"
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it.
You mean they didn' t amputate his hand and call him day-to-day?
ReplyDeleteYou hear about(or wtiness) the chipmunk terrorizing the reporters at the USC presser?
Sorry for the scoop. Was giving an opinion, not reporting anything I'd read or heard.
Sleeveless shirt and cutoff jorts. Just another day at a UF baseball game.
ReplyDeleteWait, the x-ray comment was a scoop, but that was out before the game was over....sorry.
ReplyDeleteWOW way to go Auburn Tigers.
ReplyDeleteWhy are there suddenly 27 Greg Maddox's pithching in the SEC.
What happen to all the hitting and scoring.
Norm?
ReplyDeleteWith the onset of tourney play, coaches have been putting their best pitchers towards the front end of play.
ReplyDeleteDon't know if that's actually true, but it's a guess.
Oops. Wasn't counting on anyone to page Dr. Norm right then.
ReplyDeleteMy b.
I hate it when my paying job gets in the way of my HABOTN duties.
ReplyDelete
