Hunter Morris named POY

Hey everyone. Auburn 1B Hunter Morris has been named the SEC's Player of the Year.

He is Auburn's second POY. The first?

You guessed it: Tim Hudson in 1997.

Morris leads the SEC in slugging percentage (.767), hits (94), home runs (20) and total bases (1818), is second in runs scored (60), third in RBI (67) and fifth in batting average (.398).

Morris is only the second player in SEC history to win both Freshman of the Year and POY. The other was Stephen Head from Ole Miss.

  1. Player of Year.. batter of year....

seemed better than POY FOY substance...

  2. There were a bunch of guys named all SEC, and the Scholar-Athlete of the Year, too. You can find it all in my live blog in the last thread, or later in the "more to come."

  3. Auburn baseball is good.

    There I said it.

    ReplyDelete
  4. DL good day today?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Exciting pre-tournament substance. I am looking forward to tomorrow. Let the elephant hunt begin.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I good post season and Mr. POY could be a candidate to wear golden spikes...

  7. Where would be the best website to follow the game tomorrow?

Will there be a live blog of tomorrow's elephant hunt?

  9. CH=B,

If you're just looking for a stattracker, SECsports.com has one (Auburntigers.com also will have a link to it). XM radio is broadcasting the tourney, and it will be on SportsSouth for TV...I'm sure there will be a channelsurfing.com site set up by someone, but that's always last mintue. I'll email you if you need someone to locate it in the morning.

  10. SoCCEr and MLB

Have to choose between a rare opportunity to watch the Braves (damn you, TBS!...I know it's been three or four years, but I'm still holding a grudge), or watching the USMNT not use their arms.

  11. I wasn't able to check in much today. How much hate was spread today?

    ReplyDelete
  12. It was pretty quiet, actually....except for the hundred posts I had when live blogging batting practice/awards/interviews that the SEC had streaming online.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Czech goalie just screwed up bigtime. US 1-0.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Can't wait for some early morning hate tomorrow. It's gonna help make the work day fly by.

    ReplyDelete
  15. PF had one of the best non JGT live blogs ever earlier today. MJT would be jealous.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sorry I missed. We have to really bring the hate. Someone call the dude from Major League to put a curse on the walmartians.

    ReplyDelete
  17. wowee wow wow! impressive...

now if only AU can bang its way to a cws trophy. that's one that you get for winning a playoff so it means something.

CH=B Jobu has been summoned. Also got any info on Big Cat?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I will be working all day tomorrow... outdoors... away from radio/tv/internet...
I may need someone to send me text message play by play (or at least major updates).
    Any volunteers?

  20. Miller,

I can handle it....or I can hold my phone to the speaker and you can hear it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'll be live blogging at times.

I'm planning to meet with Hoopie at some point during the game. That would necessitate a HABOTN communication blackout.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Big Cat.

Luper said he couldn't give me an exact number of prospects expected to attend, but I'm guessing it'll be in the 30 range.

The talent won't be as concentrated as it was last summer, but I expect a bunch of notable prospects to take part.

I'll be there on Sunday for FULL HABOTN COVERAGE.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Outstanding crowd in Miami for Braves @ Marlins. At least dozens of people there (if anything like previous Braves games I've attended there, at least half are Braves fans).

    ReplyDelete
  24. Congragulation Mr.Morris. War Eagle to ya!! Thanks...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Preciate the coverage... blogger Tate...

IF AU makes it to the Saturday games, I plan to make an appearance at Regions Park...
    Please, everyone... contain your excitement.

    ReplyDelete
  26. you got my # for text scores? IF not, email me, or you may be able to get it off my FB page...

CH=B lets test your hate. Last football season an Auburn bowl win against Northwestern and Bama win vs Texas or Auburn loss and bama loss?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anonymous8:19 PM

    False dilemma Weeman.

    The 2 events are unconnected.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Indeed...and even if they were, never give up a win for the good guys. If your hate is for any other reason than love of AU, it is misguided. Love of AU always calls for the win.

    ReplyDelete
  30. weeman... Auburn Win and Bama inihilation

Actually, I would wish bama a horrendous sickness the day before the game that would force them to forfeit the game...

    ReplyDelete
  31. GOAL! USA with the equalizer!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anonymous8:32 PM

That is why I asked CH=B his hate comsumes him. I believe he would have taken an Auburn loss if Bama would have loss(which means no MNC). Just a what if question guys. But the good news is I got word Rose will go public with his commit after Big Cat.

    ReplyDelete
  33. DM I would be happy to text score updates if needed. It may be hard for PF to live blog n text but he's pretty good. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. If CH=B feels that way, he's an idiot. Anyone who wishes losses on AU is an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  35. If the US plays defense like this in the World Cup, they won't make it out of the group round.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Weeman, you are correct that my hate for the walmartians runs deep. My love for Auburn is greater. I am not one of those fans that hates them more than I love Auburn. However, I would have traded and outback bowl loss for the infidels to have lost the MNC. The best case scenario is what Miller said.

    ReplyDelete
  37. PF, don't get what I said wrong. I do not wish a loss on Auburn, but to give up one win for the hearts and souls of all walmartians is a fair trade.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anyone on here that says they wouldn't have loved to see the mullet nations world collapse in exchange for one game is an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I want Auburn to win em all and wouldn't sacrifice a win no matter what the outcome for Walmartians.

    ReplyDelete
  40. As for BCW there will be several high profile players including 3-4 RBs and at least 2 QBs. There will be a big presence on the defensive side of the ball as well. I expect a minimum of 2 commitments directly following this weekend. I am not the expert though. WTC knows all.

Big Cats and Ding Dongs all in one weekend. What more could you want?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I would love Auburn to win them all as well.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Me and Seanzie are idiots, because I'm with him. The Outback Bowl was one of the most exciting games in all of college football last year, even if the team didn't get two rings for winning it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm happy that the coaches have BCW, but I don't personally feel a need to know anything about it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The game was great and I loved the win, but given the choices laid out by Weeman I would trade that one game. Now best case scenario would have been for use to win the UT to win.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous9:10 PM

CH=B I got your 2 commits QB Frazier and CB Rose. We might get a few more commits from unheralded recruits whose stock I suspect will soar after camps. And one other question are you Charles from Reeltown?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yeah, their hearts and souls don't matter much to me. They suck with or without them (though I'd argue that they really have neither). I want them to lose them all, but the only one that is connected is the Iron Bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Good point PF.

Weeman that was funny. I kind of take that as an insult. That dude is a complete idiot. Are you Todd from Ozark?

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm Jay G from Montgomery and I'm saying: No unpleasant bickering.

    Pass it forward.

    The love, I mean.

    ReplyDelete
  49. no bickering here.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anonymous9:21 PM

ch=b I'm lost. Evidently you got my joke but you stumped me.

    ReplyDelete
  51. What about pleasant bickering? Who am I kidding, I'm not pleasant when I'm delivering roses, much less bickering.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Weeman, Todd is just a walmartian I know. You kind of sounded (typed) like him and your profile is similar as well.

    ReplyDelete
  53. PF - you're like an ill-tempered Sea Bass.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Kick his arse Sea Bass

Sorry for you CH=B. Does anyone know if Brey Cook will make BCW? Heard he narrowed his choices to 4 schools today.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I hear Cook is not coming to BCW. Not sure why just now. i hope he comes to AU but I think he is headed to OU ultimately.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Don't know but Brey likes Auburn a lot, but momma likes OU.

    ReplyDelete
  58. News is funny tonight. Navy dropping Sonar Buoys through people's roofs in N. Florida. People hacking roadside signs to make them read "No Tacos." in S. Florida. Total Chaos and Anarchy!

  59. I saw today that Miami is back on top of the list for most violent crimes per 100k.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anonymous9:42 PM

wtc and ch=b we must ahve some of the same sources. Also heard he will not be BCW. Think in the end it comes down to OU(why?) and ARK for Cook.

    ReplyDelete
  61. CH=B,

    Not at all surprised.
I'm just glad that I am officially done working in Miami forever...or at least on a regular basis. I might still have to go down from time to time. I hate that place.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I would like to visit South Beach at least once. I would also like to check out a Dolphins' game since I am a huge fan. other than that I don't know why else I would care to go.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Later guys (and any gals that might be viewing)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Scotty B... I'll let you and PF work out who sends the text updates... I don't want you two fighting over me... As long as I get updates... I appreciate you both.

  71. Good morning hate to you all.

Hoopie you must have traveled a different 459 than I do. The section from Liberty Park to Trussville is terrible. Most of the roads in the Greater Bammerham area are.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Eff yeah. SunSports will have the game on. Booya!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I was fretting about this game earlier in the week. But this morning I awoke with inner peace. We shall annihilate the infidels.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I awoke this morning with a lot of inner snot and phlegm, just like the previous 3 mornings. Not sure if that's a sign or what.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Interstate 20 is Missi-louis-ian in its composition. Worst stretch of road EVAH.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Ready to win today. Anything less is unacceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  77. ehyou & tht - I awoke yesterday morning after just a few hours sleep. I've been awake ever since. Being this tired will serve a purpose in that I'm likely to be extra crabby, take even less crap than usual and Hate even more than most would think possible. So, I've got that going for me...which is nice.

    Keep Hate Alive!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I went to bed at 7 pm last night, so I've got that going for me.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I got the same thing, ehyou. I think I hate blackouts almost as much as I HATE BAMA

    ReplyDelete
  92. I hate that stuff on streaming media is subject to blackouts. Hey idiots, if I could watch it on the tele, I would!!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. ehyou -thanks! I wouldn't have remembered to check. i don't have espn360 at home (TWC), but it is available here at work (AT&T)... don't know if there will be enough bw to watch. My condolensces on your blackout.
