Jay G ... they struggle with it ... it's one small reason that when paired together for baseball, they are difficult to listen to without wincing repeatedly. It's their nature to describe.
I have only listened to a few games they have called, but it seems that Rob calls the first three innings, then Andy the next three or four, then Rod comes back in to finish up. Is that kind of how it works?
I'm still worn out from last night's game. Got to get ready for tonight's.
Mobilz, I am feeling very optimistic about tonight's game! I didn't have a good feeling about the Clemson game on Saturday, but I have felt good about the rest of them.
As much as I hate bama, I kind of hope they win tonight, come to Auburn and we beat them!!!!
It's not in my nature to want Bama to win at anything (duh, right?), but I too would enjoy the prospect of a super regional matchup between us and them.
But beating Clemson is the only thing that matters today. Anything else is gravy.
I was no where near a computer last night so I missed the first hand excitement. But way to go Auburn baseball team. Sounds like it was a great game. Now if they can just clean the plate tonight with many ding dongs.
shame on me, I'm not a molasses fan. Sausage on a biscuit, awesome! McCutchen's Apple Butter on a biscuit, awesome! Sourwood honey on a biscuit, awesome! Country ham on a biscuit, awesome!
ok, y'all have convinced me to go downstairs and toast the few remaining leftover biscuits and then smother them in apple butter.
I want to thank Cincy for scoring the tix for me and Mille ron Friday. It was good to sit with you guys. After several innings (AU was not hitting well) the subject turned to recruiting. Miller and I compared notes and CIncy was all ears. Unfortunately for her, we discussed the really secret stuff while she went to the concession area.
friday night the ncaa video player did not work for me and saturday night the wife took the computer away (its her mac even though I bought it for her)to work on baby pictures. But last night I was able to watch the game and boy was it a good one.
Proud of the guys and the coaches and their heart and will not to give up.
One secret to tell is that AU has about all the defensive folks they want lined up and ready to commit. Since it has now become a major production for kids and coaches (wait until your rival announces one and then you try to squelch the thunder type of thing) it will take seeral months to get them all out there. Some that most everyone thinks AU will get are ...
I just stumbled on Colonel Harlan Sanders autograph in a drawer in my closet. That's got to be worth one dollar. Now the large War Eagle print with Shug's signature...that's something of value.
Was that real?!! Video says so. Only good thing about Rod's call was it will be as famous as Run Cadillac Run. When he is up, he does get very excited but when he is down, it is painful to listen to. Beat the Tigers!! Hate UAT! That is all.
Actually, I do have a variety pills and 90 proof in the house. And, like my guns, I know where all of them are located. Now, do I "need" them? Not the pills and 90 proof I don't but they're there if I want them. But let's be clear, the pills consist of things like Benadryl, Tylenol, etc.
I think we should start a "SCISSUM" post over here. What number was he? I should know that, as I told several UAT acquaintances after that game that he was my favorite Bammer player ever.
2.0 just now pulled out of the driveway to start a 650 mile trip to Orlando where she is meeting a Canadian friend and friend's family. ETA is 1 a.m. I pray for a safe trip. Any Hotties inclined to do likewise, many many thanks in advance.
Will do, THT. I made that drive a couple of weeks ago.
I got up at 4:00 that morning, worked until 5 that evening and got home around 6:30. Left the Noog around 7:30 in that night, and pulled into Orlando right around 4:00. Yeah, I was up 24 hours straight.
ehyou...why no likey Nadal? I'll admit, my favorite player is Fed, and as such, Nadal is a thorn in my guy's side.
But outside of that, Nadal seems to handle himself with class and grace on and off the court. Yeah, mannerisms can be a bit much and sometimes he too frequently uses his injuries/fatigue as an excuse for losing or struggling in matches, but...well, now I don't like the guy either.
No worries, though. I am a machine. While at Orlando, I was up one night until 6:15 in the morning and was walking around Disney World three hours later.
yesterday was the 1-year anniversary of me finding my dog Tucker Frederickson Brannan. i found him wandering through the parking lot of a local Chinese buffet. i'm sure i saved his life. ha. never thought i would keep him but i couldn't help it.
if certain events occur tonite in auburn & atlanta, the 2 of us will be trekking to the plains on friday!
yup, it has been a crazy year Kathy thanks. i got to bring him to campus a couple times last fall for games. he was a big fan of campus, but aren't we all?
My bro-in-law just called me. They've got their parking deck spot and are 'tailgating'. He said campus is abuzz. That place is gonna be rockin' tonight.
haha. yes Norm. he likes me very much now. he lived on his own for a year or so. it has taken a while to break that mindset. having his 'manhood' snipped helped too.
I'd say they are the 2nd best Steve, strictly from a college FB perspective. It must be a poorly managed conference for schools to be seriously considering leaving.
Read an article that one of the SEC folks linked from Twitter about the SEC getting a smaller distribution from their TV deal than the Big Ten guys do from the Big Ten network, but that the SEC allows the schools to retain media rights and sign contracts, which end up offering even larger media deals for many of the schools when combined with the SEC distribution. I thought that was interesting, and explains a lot of things.
It is definitely about money and exposure. That Big12 channel and the SEC ESPN contract kind of left the Big12 as the ugly step sister.
I am thinking that conference re-alignment is inevitable at this point. Texas is such a big name that I am sure they can go to whichever conference they like.
The question is when will the first chop fall, because as soon as it happens, I think a lot of schools will follow suit.
PF, I read that. Just comparing the conferences payouts definitely isn't an apples for apples thing. I would like to see a more realistic comparison.
I also read recently that Texas came very close to joining the SEC back when we got Arkansas and South Carolina. The hold up seems to have been the SEC not wanting Texas A&M.
As do UGA and GT...I don't personally think FSU and GT are SEC material, so it's nice that they have maintained their rivalries across conference lines.
OK, wtc, just got back and got caught up on the blog. You are so bad! I haven't spilled a single thing I heard Friday night. But, I did wonder why y'all kept sending me to the bathroom. I thought it was because AU did better when I left, didn't know you were telling secrets! :)
So wish we could go to the game tonight! Any HABOTNs going?
If the Big XII loses Nebraska and Missouri why not just pick up old Southwest teams SMU and TCU and carry on. They may not match the two but aren't that far off.
I thought the same thing CH=B, Why does Finebomb have to be on AM and FM? Surely Birmingham is big enough that people would listen to two different shows.
For a while there you could listen to D&B on AM while Finebaum was on FM. The AM and FM stations were part of the same company though, so the current simulcasting on both stations was probably a cost-cutting move.
SC, I'm sure it was a cost cutting move, but I wonder how many others are like me? I used to listed to D&B in the afternoon, now I don't listen to anything because I can't stand Finebomb. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has turned the radio off.
Didn't see it mentioned anywhere else... but, to be picky... the final score was 11-10 last night. The bottom of the 9th was just as hairy at the the top was...
Cincy, go to the bathroom....
WTC, I like the little random tidbits you keep dropping... I think we're on the same page... I like the prospects of the coming months.
Cincy, I just sent WJOX an e-mail telling them how much I hate Finebaum's show and to consider putting an alternative on 690 in the afternoons. I made sure to mention that my radio is either off or tuned elsewhere during the 2-6 time slot. Thanks for the inspiration!
Nine teams have advanced to Super Regionals -- all nine are No. 1 seeds. Coastal Carolina did it the way Auburn is trying to do it -- losing to the No. 2 seed on Saturday, then battling all the way back. Cal State Fullerton trying to do it the extra long way -- losing to the No. 4 seed in the first game, then winning four straight.
T add to that, the SEC looks as follows: AU, Vandy, Bama, and Arkansas all in game 7s tonight. UF and USC already advanced. LSU and Ole Miss eliminated.
How does the super regional work? After Auburn beats Clemson tonight what happens? I know we play the winner of the GT - UA game, but is it one game, best 2 of 3? My understanding is if GT wins we play in ATL, if UA wins we play in Auburn? Someone fill in the holes in my understanding.
Best of 3 game series, Cincy....the regionals all have pairings. One nationally seeded and one not. The higher seed hosts, so you're right. If GT wins, it's in ATL no matter what. If AU and Bama both win, it'll be in in AU. I think Clemson's the higher ranked 2 seed, so if something crazy happens, they would host Bama.
BIG DONG!
ReplyDeleteThe new Auburn Creede ..
ReplyDeleteI believe in Auburn baseball and love it.
former AU footballer, Bailey Woods, has signed with Georgia State. He'll be a graduate student with 2 years of eligibility.
ReplyDeleteWith two play by play guys in the booth, it's a wonder Rod and Andy don't get in a fist fight.
ReplyDeleteJet: I was thinking the same thing. Andy did a nice job of shutting up there and yielding to the unstoppable force of Rod's mouth.
ReplyDeleteHomer - had someone else posted that same comment, I'd suggest it as front page worthy. Nice, I like that.
ReplyDeleteJay G ... they struggle with it ... it's one small reason that when paired together for baseball, they are difficult to listen to without wincing repeatedly. It's their nature to describe.

Rod's call was good. Still not a fan of his football ability. Baseball is his thing.
ReplyDeletemy ncaa video player wouldn't work last nite so i didn't get to see any of the game. glad Bag came through with those updates. they were pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteWDE!
beat Clempson!
wow. i just watched the video. i have NEVER heard a baseball crew get that excited. so pissed i didn't get to see that live last nite.
ReplyDeleteCincy ...
ReplyDeleteyes.
mtd - no issues here.
ReplyDeletethe only issue I'm having is a lack of substance in my posts.
ReplyDeleteI HATE ua-T!!!!
Well, I think I've cured that problem.
Test postage?
ReplyDeleteMine seems to be working fine.
ReplyDeleteMy entire family was gathered around the ol' computer last night when the big blow came. It was a joyous occasion and a moment I won't soon forget.

Yum. Gravy.
ReplyDeleteBiscuits.
ReplyDeletespeaking of....there was a biscuit festival here in knoxville saturday. it was the first such event i had heard of.
ReplyDeleteGreat moment, huge clutch HR, somewhat (just slightly) tainted by Rod's horrible broadcasting.
ReplyDeleteKNOXVILLE BISCUIT FESTIVAL
ReplyDeleteMontgomery Biscuits.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind a celebration of biscuits at all, I might even go Rod Bramblett crazy during the celebration.
ReplyDeleteI like gravy or molasses. I'm an equal opportunity biscuiteer.
ReplyDeleteGo CRAZY, RK! Goooo CRAZY!
ReplyDeleteBiscuits with butter and sorghum molasses! Mmmmmm!

go THT go!
ReplyDeleteget some....
ReplyDeletewhat?
biscuits....
oh.
I like the Flying variety. With fresh eggs and chicken gravy.
ReplyDeleteMaybe some apple butter...
ReplyDeleteChicken on a biscuit is really good, too....especially if it's from Chick Fil A with pack of Texas Pete hot sauce on it.
ReplyDeleteI had a jalepeno and cheaddar bagel with cream cheese this morning. Far from a biscuit, but still satisfying.
I could eat a whole case of Chick Fil A's Chicken Mini's.
ReplyDeleteOkay, who'd like a banger in the mouth?
ReplyDelete...
Right, I forgot, here in the States, you call it a sausage in the mouth.
Bangers, beans and mash.
ReplyDeletee-bro.... sorry we from the south and just call it a sausage biscuit....Period.... trust me i dont want a banger in my mouth!!!
ReplyDeleteMartha White sausage gravy over biscuits = Happy Heart Attack.

secret recruiting stuff? do tell.

yum! 3 biscuits later...

ReplyDeleteDo you have any info on the RB situation?
ReplyDeleteCornbread.
ReplyDeleteCornbread and iced-tea took the place of pills and 90 proof.
ReplyDeleteJon Luke Jacobs will take this hill this evening for the Auburn Tigers.
ReplyDeleteHe's seeking his first win of the season.
ReplyDeleteuuuhhhhh.... how should i feel about that JG?
ReplyDeleteso Norm, you sayin' you got pills & 90-proof you no longer need?
ReplyDeleteJohn Luke Jacobs is a stud that's just been waiting to work hos magic. Believe it and all will be good.
ReplyDeleteYes Scottie but he probably can't remember where he stash them.
ReplyDeletePF, I hope you are right. I don't like having to start a kid in this situation who doesn't have a win.

so you know what that means tomorrow....right?
ReplyDeleteScottie - I believe someone made a vague reference to such on the prior thread.
ReplyDeleteoooohhh. must've missed that.
ReplyDeletemy bad. i've had Regional baseball on the brain all morning. i'm seriously contemplating driving to AU this weekend if/when we win tonite.

ReplyDeleteThey're probably not aware when the Scissum post had been called.
ReplyDeleteI think we should start a "SCISSUM" post over here. What number was he? I should know that, as I told several UAT acquaintances after that game that he was my favorite Bammer player ever.
ReplyDeletethat's hilarious, SC. One of my all-time favorite opponent plays in J-H...right up there with the 4th INT return in '94.

I would look for AU to throw Johnny Allstaff tonight.
ReplyDeleteI read that the Clemson coach said the the home pitch was a hung slider.
ReplyDeleteNunh ..Unh ....That was a fastball thrown towards the outside of the plate that moved back into the heart of the hitting zone.
Even a hung slider can't move that way.
Nadal is a greasy, grimy little worm. If you can't tell, I don't like the guy.

ReplyDeleteWTC, how confident are you in those names? How about the RB position and WR Joe Morrow?

ReplyDeleteno live television. just the ncaa website.
ReplyDeleteBig 12 gives Nebraska an ultimatum.
ReplyDeleteI don't see how the Big 12 has any power here. They need Nebraska more than Nebraska needs them.
ReplyDeleteStrange how Missouri apparently wasn't given an ultimatum. If one Big 12 team defects, I expect it to collapse pretty quick.
ReplyDeleteIt is ironic, because many argued that the Big12 was becoming the best football conference a few years back.
ReplyDeleteTuberville is introducing the Red Raider Walk at Texas Tech.
ReplyDeleteJay G- on the front page you have it listed as a 11-9 finish. Clemson, unfortunately scored another run. Ended as 11-10.

ReplyDeletedunno what i'm thinking today.
so is JG back on the scene tonite or is Bag bringing the heat for us?
