Sullivan, the basketball player, is out

Hey everyone. Guard Frankie Sullivan underwent knee surgery today in Birmingham to repair a torn ligament.

No timetable has been given for his return.

The success was deemed a "success," though I don't even know what that means given the context. Mack McGadney had "successful" surgery in 2000 and you know how that ended.

Not saying Sullivan is finished like McGadney was. I'm just saying: There's no way to know.

Sullivan was supposed to be the de facto star of Tony Barbee's first Auburn team. Looks like that plan has changed. It'll be a long year in Auburn Arena.

  1. Ouch.

It's going to be a long time before we get a .500 record on our home court after this 1st season.

Maybe now they will release the schedule.

  2. Perhaps it will be a long year of winning?

  3. we need some healing substance

    ReplyDelete
  4. but commitment substance is also good.

  5. Crap!!!!!!!!

I just got done watching some You Tube videos of Auburn football. I was going to get on here all excited and then this. Thanks for ruining my night you stupid knee.

    ReplyDelete
  6. THT, that makes me a little happier.

There is still time for Sullivan to make it back. You would think he could be back by SEC play.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Never compare Sullivan to Mac. Mac was the most frustrating basketball player in Auburn history. So what he scored 30 points....it took him 50 shots (15 fade away threes) to get there.

Depending on the surgery, probably 6-10 weeks until he can start rehab. He might make it back by January if he makes it back at all.

  9. FOOTBALL

Anybody beside me think the agent party story in Miami has gotten a little quiet?

I would have thought by now we would at least have heard which agent threw the party, a pretty full list of attendees, and questions asked as to whether the players paid their own expenses to attend? I'm not an expert, but can't you meet with an agent as long as you don't accept anything of value or sign a contract? Not sure if the peeled shrimp on the buffet would count as something of value or not.

  10. Well that flipping bites. Way to break in the new arena.

  11. Dear Braves,
If you don't pick it up, I will be forced to criticize you. Neither of us wants that, trust me. Come on.

  16. McGadney! Wow, haven't heard that name in awhile. Played against him at the Student Act back in the day. He was a surprisingly good shooter in that setting.

  17. Braves lose 3 of their last 4. Not good. Especially blowing a golden opportunity in missing Strausburg.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The Braves only get 5 hits and strike out 10 times, you'd think they were going against Strasberg and not a middle reliever who was starting on 5 mins notice.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Mack 'The Jack'? Dude would throw it up from anywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Like I said in the earlier thread, this Braves team is starting to look like the team that lost 9 in a row earlier in the year.

Prado has dropped 20 points on his average in the past 2 weeks.

Glaus has 4 RBI all month.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Four RBIs for Glaus?

    CALL UP FREDDIE FREEMAN!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well at least we were not expecting too much this year from the basketball team. I still think we will see a pretty good product. Once Barbee has a little time to recruit we will be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  23. WTC, where you expecting the commitment today? I'm hearing we could be in for a very good month. Garrett isn't hight rated (yet) but he had an impressive offer list.

    ReplyDelete
  24. somebody remind me, when did Frankie hurt his knee? I don't remember hearing about it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. You didn't. It was top secret and none of us heard about it.

    They're playing by themselves allegedly.

    ReplyDelete
  26. WTC: I answered your basketball signee question on the forum.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Can we blame the injury on Lebo somehow?

    ReplyDelete

  32. CHB, we're about to open to the public a HABOTN forum.

    It's in BETA right now.

    ReplyDelete
  33. When do you think the new forum will be ready?

    ReplyDelete
  34. For some reason I thought he was still in double A, but I guess he started this year in Gwinnett.

    ReplyDelete
  35. All this year I figured he was in Mississippi, well you won't have to wait long to see him. I don't see the Braves bringing back Glaus next year.

    ReplyDelete
  36. What a sad turn of events.

    ReplyDelete
  37. as long as he didn't injure his knee in a pickup football game. freakin' practice!

    ReplyDelete
  38. most pay sites thought the garrett commit was coming just not today. he now has over a year to gain about 20-30 lbs. glad to have him aboard.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Terrible news for Frankie was expecting all-sec caliber year.

What position are we recruiting CJ Uzomah for?

    ReplyDelete
  42. here are the linebackers expected to be on the team next year that are not sure fire starters:

    upperclassmen (so to speak):
    j. evans
    e. freeman
    h. gaston

    newcomers:
    j. curry
    j. white
    l. owens (de?)
    j. holland

can we expect anything out of gaston? his size screams he will be needed to play, but is he healthy? i've heard virtually zip about him but he could be a very important contributor if able.

  46. Wow, a lot going on here today. Rundown of my thoughts, Jetarsky style:

    1. I'm all for retroactively claiming a national title if the AP or BCS awards it, but the FWAA, no thanks.

    2. FSJ...claiming 1918, 1983, 1993, or 2004 will never compare to Alabama's thirteen simply because of 1948. That'd be like us claiming a national title for going 9-3 in 2005.

    3. Soccer...what's hard to understand? You try to stick the ball in the opponents' net using 10 outfield players while having a goalkeeper protecting your net. And you can't use your hands. Easy peasy.

    4. Frankie Sullivan...that sucks. Talk about a gut wrenching loss to a team. Hopefully he's back for league play.

    ReplyDelete
  47. E-Bro - re: item 4, don't hold your breath

  67. Recruiting:

Expected Garrett but just not so quickly as was mentioned earlier.

Uzomah is being asked to play slot receiver and wildcat by AU. LSU is asking him tp play QB. He wants to play QB, but REALLY likes AU. His HS coach says he can be a great WR. HS coach is going ot line him up at WR more this coming year to showcase his talent.

The coming 2 weeks could bring in a handful of top commits. It should start on Sunday with Rose.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Not been able topost much lately. vacation and then moving day for the daughter.

Oh yeah, work kinda gets in the way also.

I am headed to AU in about 45 minutes for some appointments. Maybe I can find some more info to share later this evening.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Sorry, THT :) I sure hope you aren't sharing info on that "other blog" that you don't share with us. You know how I hate being left out of things!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I think THT just likes being first over on that other blog...

Al.com occasionally has some decent articles. It's that war zone comment section that is awful. Luckily I lost my password and will not reapply. The few times that I do slip down into the comment section only leads to regret and embarrassment. I'd rather get stabbed, shot or beaten than run that gambit.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Not sure I like the attention AU is suddenly getting (even though I've been secretly thinking a really good season lies ahead). AU typically does so much better when expectations are muted. These guys are wrecking things for AU! COME ON!

    ReplyDelete
  105. I don't think AU talk has been over-done. They're 'in the talk' for 2nd best in the west, which is probably just about right.

    ReplyDelete
  106. In the last two days, Chris Low has ranked our DB's and LB's as fourth in the SEC in unit rankings. He did rank our D-line pretty low, but looking at that, he must think our defense will be at least halfway decent this year.

I guess I do too. Certainly think we'll be better and should have some better depth, but I won't be sold on all our returning DB's from injury (Zac, Aaron, Mike) until they make it through fall camp and get some games under their belts.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Cincy - I'd trade that in a heartbeat for my BuyMore shift today. How soon can you be here?

    ReplyDelete
  108. All the talk about being undefeated though - I like that they're getting some recognition, but at the same time, I think I like AU better in the "nobody's talking about us/chip on our shoulder" mode. AU typically seems to respond better historically in such a role.

    ReplyDelete

...just a-swingin'. I stepped out on JG and visited Bitter's site. AU has issued the 2010 roster and Dr. Bitter has some good comments regarding such.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I still possess the beautiful, professionally-produced stamped steel sign that used to grace the bathroom wall above the porcelain facilities in my AU days that reads: THINK! OUR AIM - NO ACCIDENTS

Just my luck, Mrs. Dr. Freep and I had only daughters. It would only apply to me if I were to post it now.

On a side note, the aforementioned throne in my student digs was of a brand that I have never encountered, before or since: an Eject-O. Logically, on such occasions that we were in need of its primary function, we would euphemistically state, "Time to go jack the Eject-O."

Yes, I fully realize this is far more than any of you wanted to know. But how often are you provided an opportunity to publicly discuss your toilet? I didn't want to miss what may have been my only chance to share.

    ReplyDelete
  149. I always loved Grandma's house with the nice crocheted toilet seat cover. Within 4-5 seconds of lifting the seat, it was guaranteed to fall back down to its original position, which proved to be a somewhat disastrous event on more than one occasion, especially after riding in a car for 4 hours with no stops in between and there was an urgency in your dash to the bathroom due to the Coca cola you drank 3 hours prior and yes this is a run-on sentence, but in the grand scheme of things does it really matter?

    ReplyDelete
  150. Baldy, I remember my grandmother having one of those lid covers and I remember the issues that it caused.

Glad I could sparks some good toilet talk.

    ReplyDelete

  152. while smart and beautiful, girls like alexis frighten me. sorry hon, but we are doing wendy's & and adam sandler movie on the first date. if she can stick with me after that, she has a chance. i will gladly observe her doing yoga in a 105+ degree room.

if the place we go to dinner cannot serve meat or meat by products of some sort, i'm not interested. i finally convinced my wife to date me after inviting her over for steak. i knew i had a winner pretty quick.

    ReplyDelete
  153. First, I have to admit to watching the toilet video. Now, did anyone else who watched it notice that the person doing the filming was a female (painted toenails)? How many females would be interested in vintage toilets?

    ReplyDelete
  154. Yep, chip chip...I don't think Alexis would have appreciated the meatloaf sandwiches I brought for lunch today. Still, I thought it was cool that she is an AU alum.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Can you say very high maintenance? Fresh out of college I'm sure she can still double fist some beer and yell War Eagle with the best of them.

Like bitter's roster breakdown. I am pumped about Ford being at 240. I think he is going to be a beast and could be the breakout player on D that we are all looking for.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Nice find Chip. That looks like ours, alright.

Another fond recollection, along the same topic: when my Brit-born roommate acquired a girlfriend, one of the first things she did was introduce one of those deadly crocheted lid covers, with the same delayed slamming effect described above by Baldy.

Shortly thereafter, a male friend of ours came by for a few beers. We failed to inform him of the new booby-trapped Eject-O. Conversation ceased as we awaited the predictable event. . .sure enough, after the required 4-5 second delay we heard a loud SLAM followed by a bloodcurdling scream.

We held our laughter best we could when our friend limped out, but lost it when he glared at us and declared, "YOUR TOILET IS NOT USER-FRIENDLY!!!"

    Good times. . .

  157. same thoughts on ford ch=b.

i found it even stranger on the antique toilet vid that there were so many comments from other toilet aficionados. i've never been so glad to admit AU football is my obsession as i am today.

  158. I'm with you chip. Other than the old Eject-O, the only time I've ever paid any attention to such a device has been when it failed to operate within design specifications.

  159. I looked at the roster link from Bitter and noticed that Mack is listed at 361, Phillips is 291 and J. Evans has bulked up to 230.

Assuming that these are accurate numbers (and the numbers on the recruting sites are/were also accurate), methinks that only Evans packed on what one might call "good" weight since last football season.

  161. adair, please be more specific. Did you mean Gilbert O, Pat, or Joe?

If you meant Gilbert O, I'm afraid you're along again, naturally.

Of course, if you meant Joe, you won't exactly be in a big crowd, either.
