Part-time gig
I know you all want to know about how spring practice is going. I have nothing for you right now.
Instead, I'm in San Diego helping Tim Gayle cover the Crimson Tide in the NCAA Tournament. It's a chance to see how the other side lives, so to speak, and be a part of the March frenzy. I won't have that chance covering Auburn these days. I gotta take the opportunities when they come my way.
Anyway, San Diego is a really cool town. It's very hilly. People don't care about living on hills, though, and almost every hill has a neighborhood along its face. It's also fun to drive along the interstate (I-15 in my case) and see all the lights and the sprawl. I spent part of my life here (back in the 70s and early 80s) but it's all so different now. There's so much going on.
Kinda like Montgomery ... on a slightly bigger scale.
The World Baseball Classic is holding its finals here this weekend. The Dominican fans already are in town getting ready for the event. Those people are so much fun. I talked with a couple of fans tonight in Old Town, and they were talking smack about the USA team. Like I care. When I agreed that the D.R. is better, they were aghast that I wouldn't defend Americans to the end.
They lost to Canada! How can I pledge my undying support?

1 Comments:
Lori Dann, our ASE and a former Auburn beat writer, covered it for the Advertiser. I thought she did a fine job with a game that sounded pretty lackluster ... at least from an offensive perspective.
