Auburn update, 11/14

Hey everyone. It was an interesting day at Auburn today. There were tons of television stations there talking with all the kids for Iron Bowl previews. I'd say 40% of the TV people I saw today are people I've never seen before. Weird.

Anyway, one (unknown) guy approaches one of the Auburn peeps and points toward Courtney Taylor.

"Who is that?" he asked.

Do we need to point out Tuberville, too?
-----------------
I eased through the SEC weekly release again. I do it for you all. I'll do anything for these nuggets of information you'll probably never use or consider again.

Anyway, here are today's finds:
*In 2005, 77 SEC games were played with instant replay in place. There were 66 stoppages (average length of review: 1:53) and 17 plays were overturned.
*In 2006 so far, 76 SEC games have been played with instant replay in place. There have been 102 stoppages (average length of review: 1:42) and 25 plays have been overturned.
SUMMARY:
2005: 77 games, 66 stoppages, 17 overturns
2006: 76 games, 102 stoppages, 25 overturns

*Average game time in 2005 was 3:18 and included an average of 133 plays.
*Average game time in 2006 is 3:06 and has included an average of 123 plays.

Top 5 SEC quarterbacks in terms of career wins:
1.) Chris Leak (Fla.) is 31-12
2.) JaMarcus Russell (LSU) is 21-4
3.) Brandon Cox (Aub) is 17-5
4.) Erik Ainge (UT) is 15-5
5.) Andre Woodson (UK) is 9-13

The aggregate record of all SEC schools in non-conference games this season is 35-7 (83.3%)
That's the best mark since 1997, when the SEC was 32-4 (88.9%)

Here's one I found interesting.
SEC's longest drives this season, sorted by TOP and result:
1.) 9:37, UGA vs. Auburn (14 plays, 49 yards) ends on downs; UGA was being nice.
2.) 9:12, Alabama vs. Arkansas (14 plays, 45 yards) ends with missed FG.
3.) 8:38, Auburn vs. South Carolina (17 plays, 85 yards) ends with FG.
4.) 8:31, Auburn vs. LSU (16 plays, 61 yards) ends with missed FG.
5.) 8:22, LSU vs. Miss. State (13 plays, 80 yards) ends with TD.
The top four don't lead to touchdowns. I found that odd.

SEC kickoffs:
1.) Matt Clark (Aub.) -- 58 kickoffs, 46 touchbacks, 79.3%
2.) James Wilhoit (UT) -- 58 kickoffs, 28 touchbacks, 48.3%
3.) Will Moseley (Ole Miss) -- 35 kickoffs, 13 touchbacks, 37.1%
4.) Brandon Coutu (UGA) -- 19 kickoffs, 7 touchbacks, 36.8%
5.) Chris Jackson (LSU) -- 58 kickoffs, 20 touchbacks, 34.5%
Now Auburn fans should see how valuable Clark is.
