Of course, as Tuberville might say, anything could change.
Thanks for visiting the HOTTEST Auburn blog on the 'net.

“We’re going to do some prime-time things in that game,” he said.
Since the game is in prime time, I guess anything either team does can get the prime-time label.

He has Auburn at No. 15, which seems reasonable.
As an aside, I'll be publishing my AP Poll votes each Monday morning in the Advertiser.

Yep. Seventeen. I'm totally willing to advance Auburn if it rips through Kansas State and South Florida. I'm sure I was the high voter on Hawaii. When they go undefeated and sneak into a BCS bowl, remember where you heard it first.

Perhaps they should give Zach Gilbert a try at tailback.
ReplyDeleteHe's No. 22 now.
ReplyDeleteHis own man.
Maybe a new position? I like your thinking.
No, Jay, you are not the first to hype Hawaii as a BCS spoiler. Every hairdo at ESPN has talked about the possibility. But thanks for reminding us why we should be happy the AP poll no longer part of the BCS equation. The top 25 shouldn't be relative, it should be absolute. Hawaii's entire schedule consists of the perennial homecoming opposition for nearly every major conference school. Relative to that list of payday teams, yeah, Hawaii can certainly go undefeated. Is there any chance they will be one of the top 10 teams in the country based on their ability week-in and week-out to compete against similarly ranked teams? No.
ReplyDeleteSo, jay...
ReplyDeleteI see you've fallen into the same trap as most other poll voters. The point of any ranking is to order teams based on their strength, right? The point is NOT to see if you can predict the post-season poll. If you've got Hawaii ranked #11, it's obvious your list is a post-season predictor rather than a ranking of team strength.
But alas, everyone is doing it. It happened last year... everyone said "Florida can't win the MNC because their schedule is too tough", so they were dinged in the preseason polls. It almost cost them the chance to play in the BCS Championship.
Don't conform, Jay... you're our last bastion of hope in this world of I-told-you-so'ers.

ReplyDeleteHawaii is good. Period. I voted 'em in the top 10 because I think they're in that range.
