All we have are the embers

Thanks for a pleasant and enjoyable SECOND campfire of the day.

Big up to Jaybar for all THE VINE regarding everyone favorite's tight end from Kentucky. You can call him Slush or Slush Fund or, as Quentin Groves would say, Grape Slush.

Now I head for the hizzle tizzle.

Peace.

  1. I hate that I missed most of this tonight.

  2. I got a little side tracked myself. Ready for tomorrow night though. What's the plan again?

  3. I'm planning to get there around 4 CDT. I didn't bring my video camera, but I will take plenty of pictures with my still camera.

I'm planning to run this as usual ... post on the blog each quarter. Since it'll be really late and I'm solo, I won't be very available for post-game commentary.

My Friday flight leaves at 8 a.m., so I gotta high-tail it out of Morgantown afterward ...

  4. I'm glad we finally dug deep enough to get something out of Jaybar. I thought I was just going to end disappointed. Instead, Grape Slush! Jaybar, I hereby dub thee superscooper.

Dry Rub comment will forever immortalize this campfire, though.

Ahhh, its all too good to be true. LMAO! WDE!

  5. Jay G, iPhone and MacBook should be able to take video, no? Won't be typical HABOTN quality, but video nonetheless.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Chris, man, that's a good one.

iPhone doesn't have video. My MacBook does, but I only use it in a video chat situation. I don't see how I can use that.

My pre-game videos never get any hits, so I left the camera at home.

  7. ...just read the last of what i missed of the campfire when I had to dip out, and it appears there was a beer discussion. I find it funny that you can't get yeungling in GA, when they have a brewery in Tampa now. It's one freaking state away...Also, for Eddie, I know there is a distributor in the Atlanta area that carried Fat Tire. See it at some eateries across the area, and have found it at quality liquor stores (and one place in Athens that carries seemingly all the beer known to man). May be worth the trip. Finally, just found a new beer from Barron's in Ausieland, called Black Wattle. Reminds me of Left Hand and Tavish (colorodo) Milk Stout, but a little more complex. Anyway, that's my thoughts from the six pack for the evening.

  8. cool, JG. I didn't realize iPhone didn't have video. Strange feature to leave off...I can honestly say my favorite pregame vid was of TF sitting on the sidelines in Vandy, by himself, reading a program. Classic stuff.

Also liked seeing them working on the I in pregames.

  9. iPhone is a novelty. A toy basically. You're going to have to go get an HTC device if you want a machine.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Peter...Thanks. I will take a look at around at some Finer liquor stores in the ATL. That would go well with tonight's game.

As for the Iphone- I have it also and love it, but I cannot figure out for the love of god why there is no video feature.

  11. HTC??? Enlighten me.

  12. Is there a Hatin' w/Jay G. special gameday edition on the radio today?

  13. Hey guys,
Saw there was some beer talk last night and I have one to recommend. Its Fireside Nut Brown by Leinenkugels. With a name like that I would like to nominate it as official beer of HABOTN campfires, hopefully I will make it to one, one day.

    ReplyDelete
  14. what, no hits on the videos? this is madness. where the hotties at?

probably too late Dan, if there's an 'official beer' of the HABOTN, i think it'll be Yuengling. just a hunch.

PF, i've had a few Left Hand and Milk Stout's. not bad. those are pretty hard to find up here, though. i've never seen 'em in stores.

just so everyone knows, I WILL BE COMPLETELY WORTHLESS UNTIL I GET OFF WORK TODAY. WORTHLESS I SAY!!!!

  17. WAR DAMN GAME DAY!

I've discovered the best thing about Campfires is going back and reading the archives. It's too funny all the stuff I miss while it's happening. It's worth a read.

If you haven't gotten enough of hearing Franklin he's going to be on air at 9:00 Central http://www.sportsradio740.com/

Greg will hate he missed the beer talk.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yuenglings nice, its more of an anytime brew, and if its the more preffered by Hotties, its the winner. I was going on name alone with the Fireside.

    ReplyDelete
  19. WAR EAGLE>>>GAMEDAY.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Where can I find the campfire archives?

    ReplyDelete
  21. WAR DAMN GAMEDAY BACK AT YA!

Monica, thanks for the hot dog tip. the whole 'rock kill cook-off' blows me away. what time you and the fella headed to the stadium? you've got to be going, right?

Dan, all this beer talk is killing me. I may have to pour out a little for my homies/hotties tonite during the game.

  22. Jaybar hit us with some serious knowledge last night. I feel smarter for having attended the campfire. War Damn Slush Fund!

  23. Anonymous8:32 AM

It is a bit brisk here in Morgantown this morning. And it is GAMEDAY!! Locals are a bit stunned people are here since yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hey Brian, War Eagle

Dan - go to chatroll.com, create an account, join the HABOTN forum and you'll see the archives. If not let me know.

Hey Scottie - The Roadkill Cook off is actually brilliant. They make fun of themselves and have brought in lots of $$$ each with with a really great festival. Nope, Greg (hubby) and I decided not to go. I'm not kidding when I say I hate games in Morganhole. Parking and fans alone were enough to keep us away. I guess we're getting old.

  25. WVU just discovered real football a couple of years ago. When I tell my WVU neighbors about what REAL tailgating is like they think I'm making it up.

  26. Finally feels like a gameday (except for the day), I am just hoping for the players we can turn it around with a strong showing that can create momentum for the rest of the year. We always seem to have good guys on the team.

    WDE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. WAR DAMN GAMEDAY TO ALL THE HOTTIES!!!!!

Today is a wasted day at work. I'm not sure why I even came in today. Its almost time to go have a brew.

  28. Eddie, HTC Pocket PCs are MOS. So those that are Macies feel like using a Windows Mobile handheld is a contradiction to their allegiance. The HTC Touch Pro has the same software iPhone does not in terms of navigation through memos. Just touch and flip your way around. But video? No problem. Quick ActiveSync corporate or personal email interface? No problem. Signature capture? No problem. Battery life? No problem? Size? Small. Keyboard? Virtual and slide out manual.

You can also run dual processors on the HTC Touch Pro. It zips around.

  29. I have wasted this whole week at work. I don't expect today to be any different.

I feel good about tonight for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Monica...what's your prediction on tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  31. 21-17 the good guys

    WDE!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks Muschamp. Did not know that.

The only bad thing about tonight is having to tape the office and watch later.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anonymous8:49 AM

Listen to the champ, he knows what he's talking about when it comes to htc.

Been hittin the left hands already all morning. Gonna be a good day.

  34. I feel for you guys who have to stay at work. I'm at home and I'm still worthless! I'm way more excited about this game than I thought I would be a week ago.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I like my iPhone because I don't have the intellectual capacity to do anything beyond play with toys.

This Intel-powered MacBook Pro provides additional proof to my curbed intellectual ability.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I say we win 30-20. Not exactly sure how we have a chance to get to 30, but that is my gut feelilng.

    ReplyDelete
  37. With the Iphone, you can get the bowling game. That game is addictive.

    ReplyDelete
  38. If I wasn't sure I'd say something inappropriate I'd call into Sportline because they said "calls from the ladies go to the head of the line".

    ReplyDelete
  39. If Franklin is on 740 this morning, I'll be tracking his comments here.

    I think he's interesting.

Surely, those guys will make him elaborate on a few things ...

    ReplyDelete
  40. uh-oh, Eddie's rolling with the FAT TIRE logo. you know he's ready for GAMEDAY.

i'm saying 24-17 for the orange and blue. i don't know why. i just feel it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thanks for the info Monica. I'm thinking 24-21 AU, only because I'm a homer.

    ReplyDelete
  42. What's the smell in the air???? It Smells like Victory!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hey..Homers get love here to. Thanks monica. I will take any one of the picks the hotties have posted. I like 17-10. Good guys.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Dan - There's nothing better than a homer hottie.

    ReplyDelete
  45. JG, when you say attempts to reach Tuberville by phone were unsuccessful, how many tries is that? 2-3-4? just curious.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Little quiz for the hotties...I live in Mobile..heard this song all my life and I missed the answer.
What are the first three words to Sweet Home Alabama?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous9:12 AM

    big wheel keep on turning?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anonymous9:13 AM

oh - not first three words in lyrics

"turn it up" always makes me think of those old K-Tel "Freedom Rock" commercials

as in, Is that Freedom Rock? Turn it up!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Jay G's got it. Turn it up.

    ReplyDelete
  50. JG knows all.

    thanks for the answer.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Very nice Jay..the man with the plan.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Kinda funny..nobody ever sings those three words...we all start with..."Big wheels".

    ReplyDelete
  53. dnatl...that was my guess to.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Just saw your article, JG, about CPR coaching against WVU last year, I had forgotten that. I have more hope for tonight now.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Jay, did you think Al Bundi's character was interesting?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Another Pop Quiz....what the story of the name 'Lynard Skynard'

    ReplyDelete
  57. muschamp ... I don't understand what you're talking about? Al Bundi?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Married With Children Al Bundi? That's who Franklin reminds me of. You don't remember dirty ol' Al Bundi? His son, Bud. His hot, trashy daughter, Kelly?

    C'mon!

    ReplyDelete
  59. OK. Yeah. Christina Applegate. Gotcha.

Franklin isn't like Al Bundy, no. Franklin is a worker. He's not a slouch. He's a loner.

Think: A Snake Plisskin who didn't get along with Adrienne Barbeau and Harry Dean Stanton and Ernest Borgnine. No help means The Duke gets ya.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Well I'm talking appearances. I know Tony works. But I also know he's right where he's most comfortable right now. On the radio. Talking. Talking. Talking. He's full of plenty. You don't have a track record like that for nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  61. He's a talker. He has a gift for understanding stuff and explaining it articulately.

    ReplyDelete
  62. You think so? I respect your opinion but I have a different one with him. He actually reminds me of Tubs and I'll point to Phred's quote that's become a cult classic. And I think he did a poor job articulating his stuff to the players.

I'm listening to him talk, to me at least, he does have a different way of getting the meaning across. But he and Tubs almost seem to come from the same planet, just different halves of that planet.

But I go against the grain a lot. So maybe I'm not a good reference.

Any who. Enjoy the blog. Keep up the excellent work.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Well if anyone cares about the answer.... Lynard Skynard was the Gym teacher at the high school all the original band members attended. They later said he was such an a**, it lead them to quit school and start the band.

Anyone spoken with Jaybar this morning? I know Jay Tate is working hard up there in WVA, but I want the inside scoop. I want to know what's really going on.

PS...Jay I think it is very unprofessional for you to use this blog as a weapon in your never ending assault on Brent Slusher. The guy is recovering from "no foot" surgery for chrissakes!
