Brief update
Hey everyone. I'm at a Hilton Garden Inn in Duluth, Ga., that has embarassingly slow internet service. I'm not going to even try to read the comments from yesterday. That would take 30 minutes to load.
I'd savor 14.4 right about now.
Anyway, we had a great time at Weezer. My daughter knew several songs, rocked out, made people laugh. That's the goal. Courtney and I had a great time, too, as usual. I'll provide photographic evidence of the endeavor when I arrive in Auburn.
Best part: The Daughter saying: "Angels and Airwaves are boring. Where's Weezer?"
CORRECTION: Tuberville will not speak at 3 p.m. as previously noted. He will be speaking after practice, which begins at 4:30 CDT. I'll summarize what I hear there and what players have to say.
I'll build a video, too, and mingle with the HOTTIES throughout the evening.
See you in a bit.

I posted this in yesterdays forum this morning.
Jay,
Did you enjoy the Weezer show?
I thought it was fun, a pretty good show. My wife loved it.
I thought Tokyo Police Club was pretty good, but Angels & Airwaves were just ok, and their stage show of pretty much playing in the dark half the show and their singers fake stage presense got a bit old.
One question, where were all the people? We pretty much had an entire section in the upper level to ourselves. I don't know if I've ever been to a big name concert with that many empty seats, especially in a building that holds around 10K.
Also, how cool was it for all those kids to get to go on stage and play with Weezer?
We were really diggin that ensemble they pieced together for Beverly Hills and Island in The Sun. We got a kick out of the tap-dancing chick.
We moved to a section where were almost all alone, too. I just figured that's the way it is.
At the Apple Store in Buford, Ga.
These new MacBook Pros are quite sexy.
Almost Jenna Fischer-like ...
Hmmmm, somehow I think Weezer might be a more interesting blog topic today than Tuberville. Actually, the name Weezer seems way to appropriate at this point.
I thought it was great when they broke into "Time" by Pink Floyd. I never expected to hear them do that song.
What up hotties? I was out all day yesterday so I'm ready to be hit with some AU knowledge. Lot of talk this am about Muschamp....wonder why?
nfl update: jason campbell is 20 of 24 for 284 yards 1 td and no picks. he's having a pretty good year. wde.
Everyhone is wondering whether we have a coach in waiting already. Include me in the intrigued crowd.
Gang, I have a strange hunch that cutting bait and running this coaching staff would set AU back for years.
Give Tubs a chance ti fix it and if he doesn't make progess next year, then let's talkabout an exit strategy.
Say Weezer had quit or been fired after DopeNose, we'd have never had that green album chock full of greatness.
If AU had run Tubs in 03, there would have never been an 04.
I've said it once and I'll say it again.CTT is the man for this job as long as he not willing to allow his loyalty to his assistants to get in the way of what is best for AU. Which in my opinion is the mistake he made this year with TF. He has openly admitted to that mistake and if he is willing to dismiss the weak links on his staff then we will be ok I think. Allow the new OC to brings his guys and for me that will show he is willing to do what is necessary for AU. Bama still rollin so...good for them. War Eagle Hotties
In my opinion, if AU loses more than one current assistant, that will be a recipe for disaster. The problem too many changes. Consistency on the staff is the first key.
Keep all of the BBQ boys- they've won a heckuva lot of games at AU.
Mr Senisble- I can promise you that if Tubs stays, which I've always said he should, there will be changes in the staff. There is no way that he will keep or be able to keep everyone and just hire an OC.
I'm not trying to sound like I'm against him in any way. I'm just trying to relate what I hear and what I read.
My gut tells me that we will have a new HC and that it will be Muschamp. What is your feeling on what will really happen in this situation?
I am still on the road. When I get home - will answer that Eddie.
By the way, this site is awesome. I so appreciate the civil discussions here and the info is outstanding. Thanks to JGT and the Hotties are in order.
OK, I'm ready for all the hotties to report for duty. I'm having info withdrawal.
I'm looking forward to hearing something after practice.
I am not sure why everyone is assuming Tuberville must get rid of offensive coaches to bring in more. Is there some limit on the number of offensive coaches?
I would focus more on what Tuberville needs to add, than what he needs to get rid of. I do think he made a mistake not allowing Franklin to bring in new coaches. I also think there may have been a better way of handling Franklin than firing him.
What appears to have been the problem is a lack of team building in terms of the offensive staff. It has nothing to do with the players.
I think that it must have been more than one offensive coach approaching Tuberville about Franklin that got him fired. I would have taken a different approach.
There is a limit on the # of coaches you can have on a staff.
We do need to maybe remove special teams from Gran's responsibility and the WR's from Knox.
Keep Gran with the RB's, move Knox out.
CTT, for all he has brought AU the last 10 years, needs to be given the chance to correct it.
Our offense has been down the last 2 yrs, and I give him credit for trying something to get it jump started again.
Franklin didnt fit (doesn't matter whose fault) and CTT made the change.
If you watched UT last night, the QB play has a lot to do with the lack of offense. Until Burns can throw the ball downfield we will struggle.
p.s. I do have one Question; why was Tate running in the spread. Has it ever worked with him? Do the new OCs not know this. I know I do.
How long do Sunday practices last?
for the offense needs of next year CTT must do this:
1. bring in an OC that still can use the spread as PART not all of the offense.
2. keep Nall
3. let Knox go (Our WRs need better instruction than he gives)
4. Keep Gran for RBs
5. open up the QB position again; Burns will need to show with a good OC, whether he can see open receivers and pass the ball down field.
Hey everyone...
While we're waiting for Jay to bring the latest info from practice, take a few minutes and read this:
http://theauburner.com/mark_expectations.html
I think it reflects many of our feelings about Tuberville verbatim.
Let me guess Tuberville will be announcing that the BBQ boys will be switching to a dry rub.
aigh I didn't read the whole thing but I got the gist. I agree 100% with what CTT has done as earned him the time or just another chance..
However I do belive we lack true coaches at some of the positions. THe times have passed some of them by and CTT has a bad rap with oC's so any legitmimate OC is going to wnat to bring his guys. So the weak links have to go. As far as I am concerned lose'em all except Gran.
I keep hearing Finebaum say (take this with a grain of salt) one of the assistant coaches is so incompetent he couldn't succeed at the high school level.
To whom do you think he's referring?
Greg Knox?
Reynolds he is referring to Steve E. He's said that before. BTW 2nd time poster. Ready to go through "HOTTIE INITIATION"
Ensminger?
As in Steve Ensminger?
As in the Steve Ensminger who is now our "playcaller?"
Niiiiiiiice!
reynolds, thanks for the link. Those are my feelings exactly.
Yeah he is very criticle of Ensminger. However, if it's not Saban, Finebaum isn't exactly supportive.
No problem, man.
At first I felt bad for posting the link, 'cause I didn't want to steer people away from this blog..BUT I figured Jay probably wouldn't care.
Besides, he knows damn well we're addicted to his blog..
if this was 2004 these assitants would be geniuses so now that I think about it..damn that!! there is a reason we have gotten to the NC and I dont think that it is our head coaches abilities I think that it is the ability of those who he is loyal too and while I respect that... enough is enough let's get rid of the rift raft and win some National Championships!!! WAR EAGLE
Are these Steeler uniforms retro, or did someone hire a sign painter to redesign their uniforms?
i meant have not gotten to the national championship
The steelers were tired of the NYJets having the worst unis in the NFL so they decided to bust these out.
You know, I've NEVER understood the"man crush" that Finebaum has for Saban.
I worked for an NBC television in Detroit, Michigan in the mid to late 90's. While in SE Michigan, I saw plenty of Toledo and Michigan State games (my wife is a Spartan alum) and got to follow Saban's career closely.
The dude is not a nice guy and has few friends. He isn't chummy with fans--certainly isn't accommodating to the press. The man is a Bill Belichick clone.
That being said--the man can flat-out coach.
Still, I don't get why Finebaum fawns over him..
By the way, welcome the biscuitator.
I think you will find the people on here much different than other forums you may have visited. There are people here that appear to actually know something about college football, even if I don't always agree with them.
I have gotten really active commenting on here over the last month, but I am adjusting well. It is a challenge to have discussion with people who actually have honest opinions. It is different, but I will adjust.
Thanks steve. Just excited about being around some legitimate AU fans. JG does the best job in the industry at covering AU.
Steelers use the throw back uniforms. NFL requires it during the season.
Unfortunately, they are getting ready to let this game get away.
everytime i see Manning, it looks like he is about to cry...
Welcome Biscuitator- You couldn't pick a better place to post or follow. It is very refreshing to have opinions and be able to rationally discuss them.
