Thanks for a great campfire

We had great numbers for a Friday afternoon.

Thanks for stopping by.

ps: I'll be adjusting my pregame video approach tomorrow. I'll focus on filming warm-ups, so you can see what they're doing. I figure that's more relevant to what you want to see tomorrow.

  1. Phred's quote of the week ...

    CTT on Arky

"They have an offense that is very familiar to us," Tuberville said.

Tranlsation - they suck like we do.

  2. I am glad we have a few female hotties nowadays. Adds something to the whole thing. Speaking of which ... Tad ... you never told us about your letter in anymore detail.

  6. The name of my Fantasy Football team was the Danger Rangers. I have recently changed it to Auburn, because it can't score any points either. All of my players are either hurt, or having a bad year. Bummer.

  7. Been oh so busy the past couple of days. Below are the first two paragraphs of my letter to Jay Jacobs. At the end I basically say that even though I know he doesn't care that I won't be coming to any more games this year because the tickets are already paid for, I have better things to do with my time.

I am disappointed in the decision to fire Tony Franklin as Auburn’s offensive coordinator. I firmly believe that he was not given the leeway and support to install his offense at Auburn. The offensive line has been horrible, and has gone through spells of being horrible for several years. The kicking game, especially coverage, has been uneven. The wide receivers? Do we actually have a receivers coach?

Some may call me a conspiracy theorist, but I see a pattern emerging here. Auburn gets new defensive and offensive coordinators quite often. However, with the exception of the tight ends and linebacker coaches, the supporting cast remains the same. It seems to me the crew that came with Coach Tuberville from Ole Miss wants to do things the way they have always done them and is unable or unwilling to learn new things.

  8. Awww...thanks guys.

So how often do new OC's/DC's get to clean house and bring in their own staff?

Sarkisian makes NO sense at all IMO. But stranger things have happened...

    ReplyDelete
  9. Sarkisian? No.

As far as gals on the site, there are more than you think. The others use names that don't tip their gender.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Not nearly as often as people on the radio would lead you to believe.

    ReplyDelete
  11. don't tip gender ... why? why not?

I just watched the Rivals video of Franklin leaving. Why was Bryan Matthews zooming in on Franklin's head??

    ReplyDelete
  13. He was "examining" it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I didn't ask them why. Being a gal in a guy-heavy world might be weird?

When I post on the "Showtune Enthusiasts" message boards, I hide my heterosexuality as to not stand out.

My favorites are Oklahoma, Big River, and Phantom of the Opera. Miss Saigon is in there.

Cats? Dumbest thing I have ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I thought my google account would have used my sign on-name but it threw my actual name up there. Although the sign-on would have "tipped my gender" anyway so that's not really a point. Actually, I really don't care. I will totally play the "well, I am just a girl" card when I say something stupid ;-)

  17. Borges is still being paid. Why not bring him back as a consultant for that money? No, I am not being serious.

Steve Sarkisian makes no sense though. I don't see why he'd leave USC. Who's the offensive coordinator at Arizona? They're putting up a lot of points this year.

    ReplyDelete
  18. G money ... there is word going around that some blows might have been exchanged between a certain coach and a certain player ... any input?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anonymous9:10 PM

How the hell did he get that gash on his head?

    ReplyDelete
  20. If that's the case that player won't be playing for a long time... but i don't buy any of the rumors. There might have been or probably was a verbal altercation but my money says that's all that happened.

    ReplyDelete
  21. There is no gash on anyone's head. I can't believe that's even been mentioned. I understand people getting suckered in by rumors, but to imagine a gash on someone's head is delusional.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous9:16 PM

It just makes no sense why he would zoom into the guy's head for no reason. Was he admiring Franklin's hair or what?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Has Franklin made a comment? I'm guessing "no" since it's isn't posted on here. Seems like a long time for that man to keep his mouth shut. Hopefully he's not getting lawyered up or anything.

    ReplyDelete
  24. He was probably trying to zoom in on his face. He's not a professional cameraman.

    ReplyDelete
  25. "They told me to get lost"

"There's no reason to hang around"

    These are not happy comments.

  26. Anonymous9:26 PM

I've worked a camcorder before, I promise it isn't that difficult.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Then maybe you should give lessons.

    ReplyDelete
  28. My guess is he saw a piece of Tony's nasty greasy hair out of place and was trying to figure out what was crawling on his face. Or else he had already heard the rumor there was a scuffle and was checking for evidence.

I think Pugh held Franklin down while Kodi slammed a chair over his head.

    ReplyDelete
  30. and then Mr. Perfect came in with the Perfectplex.

  31. My predictions for tomorrow...

I say the offense comes out playing really hard. Mainly because we are going to run the ball alot. The linemen hated the spread and Ben Tate should've hated the spread and that's all that should matter on offense. I say Chris Todd starts and Kodi plays a good bit. I am guessing we still don't huddle and the people are still spazing out on the sidelines.

I was going to bring this up on wednesday before the bottom fell out, but got distracted... Zac Etheridge can not cover people. Vanderbilt and LSU exploited him badly. He's one of my favorite players but he sucks in coverage. I fully expect Petrino to take advantage of that with some mismatches.

    Auburn - 23

    Arkansas - 14

  33. did you guys not know I am a chick? I didn't get as warm of a welcome as kristin. Is it because you think I am an ugly girl? Well I'm not. I'm pretty hot.

One of the unwritten rules of HABOTN is you have to enable access to your profile. Inquiring minds want to know....

    ReplyDelete
  35. anyone coming to the lovliest village?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ok well, when I actually put something in my profile I will enable it. I'll get right to work on that. What exactly do inquiring minds want to know? Wait, not sure I want that answered.

And I can usually be found in the lovliest village...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Just yankin the chain....it is kinda cool being able to see where everyone is from and what they do.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The profile photos are cool too. Ron M has the doctored vince young pix, phred has the self portrait, hoopie has the fishing photo, I have my kid in last year's halloween costume (along with the ever present sucker)....

    Ron Mexico is Michael Vick.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'll be in Auburn tomorrow.

    Just sayin.

    ReplyDelete
  41. There is a point in the video of Franklin packing his car when they zoom in on his head. Something is going on there. Not sure what. I do know Jay said he didn't see any sort of wound/stitches and that was good enough for me.

btw, being a chick on a mostly non-chick board can be good and can be bad for lots of reasons.

  42. Anonymous10:49 PM

    Jay,
what is the injury report looking like for tomorrow?

    ReplyDelete
  43. tell me about it, mond!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Mond,
Care to expound on your "chick on mostly non-chick board" theory a bit more?

    ReplyDelete
  45. You were right, Michael you are totally worth the name HOTTIE!

  46. I have the perfect offense that will settle our QB controversy.

  47. Ok gang, Red Sox won (yay!) so I am outta here. I have often thought being an Auburn fan is akin to being a Red Sox fan prior to 1994. I hope we don't have to wait 30 more years to win it all...

    War Eagle!

  48. Anonymous11:16 PM

Why isn't the A11 offense approved in AL or GA?

    ReplyDelete
  49. That's the whackiest looking thing I have ever seen. We'll probably run it tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anonymous2:59 AM

What happened to the "War Eagle Formation"? We saw glimpses in the UT game

    NEW PLAYBOOK

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anonymous7:43 AM

    New Playbook

Nice. Looks pretty good to me though

    ReplyDelete
  53. if we can run those plays like Tecmo-Bowl BO could, i'm in like Flynn. word. i'm sure those will work better than anything we've seen so far.

    fry the piggies.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Anonymous8:51 AM

what about the guy that got fired from Oakland. I cant remeber his name and dont feel like looking it up but I think he was the OC at USC..southern cal that is. anyway just a thought?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Those Tecmo plays would work unless the defense had LT. We would also never make an XP or FG.

Never mind, we can't do that anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  56. mr. sensible, please pare your playbook down by 30% before sharing it with ensminger. it's overwhelmingly large for our offense. wde!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Was that the oilers' offense? Looks like some run and shoot there.

    Ahhhh Tecmo Super Bowl

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anonymous10:14 AM

Lane Kiffin..that's who I was thinking about. What about Kiffin for OC? Maybe a little unrealistic but why not..man need a job we need an OC.

    ReplyDelete
  59. anyone have an updated injury report?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anonymous11:56 AM

the person who told me about the rumor said USC's OC...which i know realize they meant Lane Kiffin. .

ayway the rumor was that they would announce kiffin on sunday

again just a rumor i heard, i believe the orginal source was Clayton Crofoot

    ReplyDelete
  61. Lots of rumors going around out there.

I "heard" that Franklin was holding a press conference yesterday. Uh, not exactly.

I guess I need to get a post up for today eh?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Anonymous2:00 PM

ok..let me get this straight. When I asked about kiffin it was just a thought. Am I undersstanding that there is actually a rumor that kiffin is a possibility.I know rumors are rumors but huh? who'd a thunk it. Just out of curiosity does kiffin run the spread?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Back to reality guys... Lane Kiffin is not going to be our oc. He will be a head coach somewhere (hopefully Auburn)
