Video report, 10/20

Some of Tuberville's comments FOR YOUR EYES ONLY.

(007 reference for Charles Goldberg, who has been running Bond-themed videos lately. Why? No idea.)

If you like it, watch it twice.

Enjoy.

It's a catch-22 for Tommy Tuberville. If he doesn't say anything rumors continue to fly around, and when he does say something the rumors aren't going anywhere.

Personally, I like the fact that he has addressed it. He's semmed a little more motivated lately and that's encouraging. I'd be worried if he stayed as laid back as he has been in the past.

I'm with aunmobile though, if he wins everything fixes itself. If Alabama rolls into Tubberville-Denny stadium undefeated and we walk out holding seven fingers, we keep our head coach. That's assuming he wins the rest of them that he's supposed to.

Is it just me, or could Rod have just thrown a "yeeah, boyee!" in there at the end?

  5. Rod Smith does have a bit of Flavor Flav in him:)

    ReplyDelete
  6. It's just funny that last year, people got upset that Tub wouldn't talk about his status...now this year some are going to be upset that he did talk.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Maybe Rod Smith could wear the play clock around his neck to eliminate delay of game penalties.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Dewayne Reed would smoke Rod Smith in a flava flav impersonation contest

    ReplyDelete
  9. wow. I made the quote board! I am pumped. Thanks G.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'm going to pretend y'all didn't just say Rod Smith and Flava in the same sentence. See Chris Rock for my feelings on Flava.

My interpretation of the tone of CTT's comments: I'm here, I'm not going anywhere now STFU already.

  11. Phred - you TOTALLY deserve it. That was a great line and actually sent it to my hubby via email last night so it would be waiting for him at work this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  12. phred - solid work.

    you always bring the heat.

dont forget about Brad "MO" Lester is a ringer for Chad Ocho Cinco.

  16. totally unrelated, of course, but i was checking out the video of the ref tackling the usc player. is it me or is the ref the only one not casting a shadow?

  17. Monica,
    Love the STFU reference....
i totally agree.... Rod did have his two earings in so he was chilln'

  19. Jay,
Do you have the list of the "Seven Improvements" that CTT referenced?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Seven improvements?

I wonder if the Advertiser will expense a trip to Mt. Sinai ...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Jay man..i read your comments on CTT talked about the rumors. I mean maybe I am just another CTT fool but I respect the fact that he is willing to discuss everything that we blog about up front. Not scared of critism and willing to either be telling the truth or bold face lying to us! If it turns out to be lies than ok..I was just another fool but for today I feel better about CTT as our coach and while we still have problems I think the right guy is at the helm. (minus a few captains of course)

A question Jay? Why don't you post the whole press conference?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I have liked the attitude I am hearing from players recently. I will be very happy if they have narrowed the playbook to just the plays the players feel they can execute well.

It had been getting to the point where I thought we should just take a knee three times and punt. Sure, it is a simple strategy that will not likely yield any points, but I feel we could master it. The other option was telling Ziemba he isn't allowed to move until someone hits him.

I do approve the STFU from CTT. I just don't like it coming up when I feel the players are in a good frame of mind.

By the way, I would really appreciate it if someone could get a WVU player to make a more disparaging remark about Auburn than White has. Any reason to dislike WVU would be appreciated. I actually empathize with the and loosing coach Rich Rod.

    ReplyDelete
  23. As for what CTT should tell us, I would make for a crappy reporter. I don't really think he should reveal much about what is going on with the team. I appreciated that he had the balls to say bye bye to Franklin, but I appreciate the benefits of remaining ignorant.

I saw one of those Demotivational posters today especially for blogs. It reads:
    Bloggers
Rarely have so few said so much to so few.

Translation: No One cares about what bloggers and blog posters think

    Including CTT

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yes, it is. Ironically, I hunt for as much Auburn news as I can find.

    ReplyDelete
  29. i would agree if he hadn't addresed it..so he cares enough to talk about it

    ReplyDelete
  30. I do think coaches and players should avoid reading blogs. Only nuts post on line anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  31. actually on a second point he made a pont to mention bloggers so I say the HOTTIES have a voice an while it is only in opinion and often unmerited criticsm we are heard and CTT happens to be a coach willing to recognize us. For better or worse that is the way he is. And while I don't know if it us best ofr the team I can certainly appreciate it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. cause I didn't make it clear he referenced bloogers and in am earler press conference..vorrect me if I am wrong on that Jay.

    We suck.

    Plain and simple.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous6:16 PM

I'm all about what Tubs said today, I wanted him to say it last year. What he said today was different than what he's said in the past, he wasn't questioned, he brought it up himself. I did like how we said the president makes hiring/firing decisions.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Tuberville likes to joke with us about being bloggers. He's just teasing. We all know him and the barbs go both ways. You just don't hear us ragging him.

I know for a fact coaches read blogs.

The HABOTN was viewed (briefly but carefully) by an assistant coach today. I know this because he was looking over my shoulder.

    ReplyDelete
  36. vrga, you make an excellent point.

Had he made this kind of statement during the "duck hunt in Arkansas" period, a lot of tension would have been eliminated.

He chose to let it fester then.

Now he wants to eliminate speculation.

    It's interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anonymous6:21 PM

    Maybe I just suck then.

Somebody put me out of my misery.

    ReplyDelete
  38. why dont you post the whole press conference? I am just wondering...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous6:23 PM

Better be carefull what you wish for anon.

Jay G is known to bring the hammer

    ReplyDelete
  40. I dunno. I didn't feel like posting that whole dadgum thing.

  41. Anonymous6:25 PM

You can read the presser at several sites (try Phillip Marshall's).

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous6:26 PM

Why is the line on the game Thursday dropping?

    ReplyDelete
  43. ok I'm gonna rephrase my question Jay..How come most of your video post are between 1 and 3 minutes? I was just wondering if it was part of the deal..does it take a while to post a 15 min video? not trying to critisize just wondering?

    ReplyDelete
  44. I like summaries and synopses.

As for the line dropping, I guess betting people think the Auburn Tigers are on the upswing.

    ReplyDelete
  45. aight looks like I feel a little heat right now any chance of a campfire Jay?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Video ...

I have an older camera that requires me to encode footage in real time. So I press play, then my computer records it.

If I shoot 30 mins. of footage, it takes me 30 mins. to encode it. Then I have to build the project, convert it into a "flash" file and upload it to the Advertiser's video queue.

All told, it takes a while.

Best part: It doesn't cost you a cent.

Two bits of news from the AU SGA Cabinet Meeting (where I am sitting currently):

    1. There has been a reshuffling of some building projects and a new indoor football practice facility is coming to AU. This is something Tubs has wanted.

    2. The search committee has been formed to hire a new VP of Student Affairs. This is a big change as AU all but eliminated this office a few years back.

    ReplyDelete
  48. amen brother I agree...just wondering not trying to ruin a great theing

    ReplyDelete
  49. We'll run a campfire at 9:30.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Is that 9:30 Mountain Time? Pacific?

    sorry, I'll be good

    ReplyDelete
  51. There's always some dude who comes along and POSTS that blog posters are idiot weirdos. Dude ... you just did it.

And then you have to wonder why he just posted that. Is he on a mission to rid the world of blog posters. Are we going to read his post and suddenly be shamed into retreat.

Anon hater ... we enjoy this. You don't have to. As a matter of fact, you don't have to read it or lift your finger to click the mouse and wind up here in the first phreakin' place.

Are blogs relevant ... Vern thinks so. Are they relevant to you ... apparently not. That's your perogative. More power to you. But like my mama always used to say, if you don't have something positive to add ... just shut the hell up.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm in Irkutsk, so I was thinking Gulag Standard Time.

  53. I really don't think anonymous was trying to be aggressive. Or insulting.

    Really.

  54. Mr.S bringin' the Inside the SGA scoop!

    ReplyDelete
  55. sorry anon ... I just needed to dog somebody today. I need to meditate (or medicate) for a while I suppose.

One thing I was happy to hear today - "I'm not a quitter." That's man talk.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anonymous6:47 PM

When Tubs said he had a full physical 3 months ago, it looked like he might further elaborate. Thankfully, he did not.

    ReplyDelete
  57. That link doesn't work for me, Monica.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I do prefer this form of chat. I hate to admit it, but I occasionally chat in the al.com forums, but I am recovering. Chatting here works much better.

Jay, I didn't realize coaches would see my posts. Pretty scary. I can see it now on the post game show. Coach, why did you call that play at the end? Well, this idiot named Steve from Columbia suggested it on a blog.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Gulag Standard Time - now THAT's hot

You have no idea how much I admire quality smartassedness! woo hoo

    ReplyDelete
  60. "Moon River... you using the whole fist doc?"

    ReplyDelete
  61. I am also getting concerned because some of you actually appear to know what you are talking about. This is a big concern since I am use to al.com forums. Reality doesn't have to come into play. Just type Bama sucks every once in a while and War Eagle, and you fit in nicely.

    ReplyDelete
  62. opps sorry, I'll try again
    Mr.S

    ReplyDelete
  63. Avoid the Al.com forums at all costs.

I used to go there for a long time, because I was just too lazy to look for a place with sensible people.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Steve, amen - al.com forums are toxic - gave 'em up about a year ago or so

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oh, nice to see others have experienced al.com forums. We may have a recovery support group developing.

    ReplyDelete
  66. The quote about blogs was pretty funny actually. I think it was on Rivals Bunker where I saw someone refer to message board/blog dwellers, etc. as "fringe fans". Probably not too far from the truth. I know I'm AUbsessed. Yeah, it can get a little freaky, but I say embrace your inner freaky!

Not to mention, both political conventions dedicated entire media tents to bloggers, gave bloggers "legitimate" media credentials and the "mainstream media" (whatever that even means anymore) were interviewing the bloggers. So, I guess it's not your daddy's presser anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Some bloggers do have a significant amount of power. There are people on myspace that have hundreds of thousands of friends. Whether that is a good thing, or bad thing, I am not sure.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I've heard more than one radio guy, and one other TV guy who I know for a fact had picked up at least some of their ideas from this blog. When media and sports people say they "don't read media", you don't actually believe them do you?

It's relevant - and getting more so all the time. Watch and see.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I sometimes think the time I dedicate toward newspaper work is less important than this place.

You all would be really suprised by the apathetic attitude corporate people have toward ventures like this. It's a slam dunk in my mind; a waste of time in theirs.

Who is right? We'll find out soon.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anonymous7:31 PM

Let the corporate guys listen to the band as the Titanic sinks. You've just got to figure out a way to make money off of this thing, without charging a subscription.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I don't plan to make money off this thing. That wasn't part of the deal.

When my job changes to the point where I can't do this anymore, I'll leave and find a job somewhere else that will afford me that opportunity.

That's Jay G's Career Forecast in one sentence.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Man...I've been gone for 4 hours and missed all the good stuff. Love the video's Jay. Keep it up.

Blogging is definetly the way of the future. I am new to it, but I am having an absolute blast at it.

Since Tubs is going to read this...RUN THE BALL OUT OF THE I FORMATION PLEASE.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Jay, I assumed you did this to get feedback. It only seems reasonable for your business. After all, we are a subset of reads and if everyone in here was going, hey, this Jay guy doesn't know what he's talking about, you might re-think. More importantly, you may actually get some ideas for stories. I can see the title now. "Redneck from South Carolin Knows Nothing About Football", you might even win some kind of award.

    ReplyDelete
  74. By the way, have I mentioned I am against going to the I formation except for short yardage? Yea, that is just me. If we are going to the spread, lets spreadem.

I do have a suggestion for CTT, or rather coach Nall. Please ask Ziemba to count to 3 after the ball is snapped before he moves.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I didn't start the HABOTN to get feedback, though that has become a welcome by-product.

It was just something to help the Advertiser gain a foot-hold in the digital world. I had like NO READERS initially, but I didn't care. I knew it would grow.

I didn't know it would catch on like this. I think it's the best thing about the Advertiser: Fresh, trendy-ish, colorful and I'm interacting pretty directly with you all.

Some people still think words in a newspaper will be enough ...

    ReplyDelete
  76. Steve...I think Ziemba took your advice on the last drive against LSU :)!

    ReplyDelete
  77. I tend to agree eddie. Do they keep stats on lookout blocks? Ziemba may be leading the league.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I wish they did. There should be a trophy with a lineman holding a big red cape.

    ReplyDelete

Folks wondered about the why quietness after the last yearly duck hunting trip?.......now the indoor paractice arena is approved.....Is it Zen?.... or is there a method to the madness?

    ReplyDelete
  80. The Zen IS the method to the madness.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Old school publishers need only look at their stock prices since about 2004 to know they are losing market share. Better suck it up and catch up.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Newspapers utilize 15th Century technology. A blog can be read on numerous devices, including hand-held. It is dynamic, timely, can add video and is free to the consumer.

Internet sources such as Reuters, the NYTimes, Deutsche Welle, Japan Times, CNN, BBC, Time of London, etc. can give me accurate and varied news from across the globe on a minute by minute basis,....
    ...also for free.

Remind again me why I should pay for a newspaper?
