Weezer/Atlanta update

Hey everyone. I have returned from my weekend in Atlanta with pictures to prove it.

Here we are at the Weezer show. As RK reported initially, the place wasn't exactly full. Not sure why. I know we're in the South and all, but that's still a very popular group. This was their last show of the tour. Rivers Cuomo, the lead singer, said something about how this could be the last Weezer concert of all time. Maybe this was history.

She did a great job through the first five songs or so, but a cover of Pink Floyd's "Time" was enough to kill the rally. She was outtie until the end.

We stopped by the Mall of Georgia this morning and I saw an Orange Julius. I didn't know they still were in existence. Wow. It felt like 1988 all over again. Curiously, the chick at OJ asked us, once she learned we were from Alabama, if we thought Ozark was "a safe city." I said: yes, safe city. She was excited. I have no idea why.

I was hoping someone else considered this nostalgic.

She is precious and quite the trooper.

may be showing my age a little but what is an Orange Julius? Juice bar?

It was a juice bar before there were juice bars. A staple in the 1980s, an Orange Julius is a frothy blend of orange juice and other sugary stuff.

It was a delicious treat when I was 14.

Now? One sip was enough.

Love the Weez. I went to the last one there with Foo Fighters. Pretty much the best show ever.

I guess a combination of being in the south and the economy probably kept the crowd down.

We got inside the building about 15 mins before Tokyo Police Club came on. We were in the Upper level, and the usher came over and said we could move down to the back side of the lower level. I asked if ticket sales were slow, and she said, last she heard it was 5,500, which I believe Gwinnett holds 11,000...so it was basically what the Auburn/UT-Martin game is going to look like...a half house.

I really enjoyed the show though...except the singer & light show from Angels & Airwaves was a bit irritating.

We enjoyed having a good view of the stage and almost an entire section to ourselves though.

I saw where Weez and Foo Fighters play together fairly often.

I would love to see that.

I hope it is not their last one, although they are getting on up there. The Blue Album is the greatest album of all time. You can look it up, it is true.

You don't have to sell me on the blue album.

I am envious, I have seen many a great bands, but I have yet to see Weezer. I saw Rage at Voo Doo fest and it was unbelievable. Let me know next time you hit up concerts Jay, I need a reason to bail out of Birmingham.
