Second quarter, Ole Miss 3-0

We're discussing the second quarter of Auburn's game at Ole Miss.

RUSHING IN FIRST QUARTER:
AU -- 7 carries, 3 yards
UM -- 8 carries, 50 yards

TOTAL OFFENSE IN FIRST QUARTER:
AU -- 14 plays, 28 yards
UM -- 16 plays, 68 yards

  • OLE MISS 3, AUBURN 0: Josh Shene 33-yard FG. Auburn's defense was caught on a blitz mid-way through the drive and gave up a 19-yard run. That was the key play.

  • OLE MISS 10, AUBURN 0: Shay Hodge 3-yard catch from Jevan Snead. The drive started with less than two minutes remaining on the UM 22. Auburn's defense simply yielded ground at a surprising rate, giving up long runs and passes.

I thought our lineman didn't like the 2 point stance?

They are actually doing ok with it right now.

tate just hasn't been very effective. why no lester or fannin?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Anonymous12:19 PM

    needed that 1st

    ReplyDelete
  6. Anonymous12:20 PM

looked like billings ran the wrong route. at least i hope, or kodi isn't very good

    ReplyDelete
  7. Anonymous12:20 PM

Kodi's throwing motion looks so awkward. Like he's throwing a water balloon.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Or a grenade as someone said last week...

    ReplyDelete
  9. Anonymous12:21 PM

lanes just aren't there for tate, too much lateral movement , he's a nort south guy.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Anonymous12:21 PM

Good punt again by Durst. This looks like the 4th quarter against Tennessee.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Anonymous12:22 PM

I think I said grenade. It doesn't seem appropriate considering we still are at war in two places around the globe.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Jay - Does Smith look up and moving good?

    ReplyDelete
  13. No running lanes available.

I think I know which team is winning the line of scrimmage.

  14. nice shuffle pass by burns. didn't work for the 1st down, but a good call by burns.

i'm not able to watch the game on TV and I'm watching CSTV game tracker. Did I just see a run by Nicho Patterson? Who is Nicho Patterson?

  16. Anonymous12:23 PM

good kick, offense looks like a hs jv squad.

  17. Coleman is back in the game.

Smith seemed OK on the sideline. He was warming up. I guess he's fine.

thanks for the justin.tv recommendation. I found the game at http://www.justin.tv/dwightschrute

  23. Anonymous12:26 PM

It seems Auburn only wins whenever the are playing a quarterback thats worse than their own.

Slaughter has GOT to fair catch that punt before it rolls down like that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anonymous12:26 PM

One thing to keep in mind regarding the rushing stats - the fumble counts as a rush of -10

And then there is about 20 hidden yards in that punt that is allowed to roll down to the 10

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sgt. Slaughter ... hated that decision.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous12:27 PM

Here ya go,bout half way down

  27. Is it possible to look any worse on offense than we have. We do not improve from week to week. I hate this game plan if we actually have a game plan. Just my 2 cents.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anonymous12:27 PM

thats a great site, you can watch all the ufc ppv's there for free as well.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anonymous12:28 PM

The way this game is going, I am afraid Auburn may knock Snead out of the game and unleash a back=up QB again

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anonymous12:28 PM

Slaughter is from Ga, therefore I have especially wanted him to produce...I give up.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous12:29 PM

sorry , i gotta go vomit

    ReplyDelete
  32. You could have driven a truck through the left side of the line on that play... and we run it right...

    ReplyDelete
  33. And you can watch it here:

    ReplyDelete
  34. Can't run when you can't block.

Can't pass when you don't have a quarterback or a plan.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous12:30 PM

Absolutely nothing on the ground. Now Auburn isn't even one-dimensional.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous12:30 PM

Good grief. Kodi tried to throw the ball through Trott.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anonymous12:30 PM

Still think we may see Claudle?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous12:30 PM

    Well said, Jay G.

  40. Horrible play calling... just horrible. The only thing worse than the play calling is the execution.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous12:31 PM

maybe we'll do a musical of saturday night fever at AU, brad lester is in baby! Dancin machine i tell ya, looks like a war of atrition boys, it ain't lookin good.

    MVP - Durst

    ReplyDelete
  46. Does anyone else think we look unprepared

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous12:32 PM

Those 2 Lester runs were against 8 in the box. The defense has started moving forward

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anonymous12:32 PM

He wasn't going to let him have more than 11 yards on that play. This is getting disgusting.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous12:32 PM

Defense is stuffing them for the most part.

I hope Sneed never dials it in though.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Why would anybody try to say this is Kodi's fault.

I've come up with the new name for our offense. The Chain Gang Offense. Ensminger has their ankles chained together. What a complete joke.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thanks,Jay.

Hoopie, I posted that. Very weird.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anonymous12:32 PM

James - I saw him get hit and then reach for his lower back.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anonymous12:33 PM

This is not the Jevan Snead that beat Fla.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yes Eddie, we look like we are completely lost on offense, as usual. Gameplan? Did somebody say gameplan? Gameplan?

    ReplyDelete
  55. I don't think they're unprepared; they just don't have much available to them offensively.

It's their own fault. Just sayin.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anonymous12:33 PM

    Running through those arm tackles...

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous12:34 PM

seriously, i COULD call plays better than this, atleast i could garner an attack that unfolded as the game went on, we look horrible out there on offense, like sminger is tankin it.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anonymous12:34 PM

Defense is starting to get pushed around.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Anonymous12:34 PM

Okay, defense is breaking down mid second quarter this game, this doesn't look good.

    ReplyDelete
  60. "i've got a bad feeling about this."

  61. Ethridge and Ziemba - I'd like to see them both in my office at the end of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Anonymous12:36 PM

great job blitzing on 2nd and 2, giving up 3 in the process, think the d is bout to break

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm sorry, but I'm getting tired of this product. Defense looks like it's just going thru the motions.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This game is game is nice ammunition for all the SEC haters.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm sure Ensminger is saving his best for the second half. He usually does ...

    ReplyDelete
  66. Anonymous12:37 PM

i'll give ziemba a mulligan on his knee that needs surgery, not hitting anyone on defense is a culture problem, gotta want to hit people.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Anonymous12:38 PM

It's over if they put up any points on this drive. Our offense is unable to come from behind and our defense is finished for the year.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Anonymous12:40 PM

    We had good pressure there.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Anonymous12:40 PM

sneed should transfer to AU, he's as erratic as anyone we have today

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anonymous12:40 PM

Can Auburn make up a 3 point defecit?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Good stop to only give up the 3 points.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Anonymous12:41 PM

Unlike AU right now, Sneed knows what he is trying to do he just hasn't settled into it...yet.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anonymous12:41 PM

Well Jevan Snead held the potential TD down to a FG.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Three points may be a deal-breaker.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Anonymous12:42 PM

it was over last december when we hired franklin, no leadership to speak of anywhere. On the field or sidelines.

    ReplyDelete
  76. at least we held them to a field goal.

i don't see anything that would encourage an optomistic 2nd half. nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Anonymous12:42 PM

    Throw Deep NOW

    ReplyDelete
  78. Anonymous12:43 PM

sad but true jay, sad but true.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Anonymous12:43 PM

9 yds is the longest offensive play? Ugh

    ReplyDelete
  80. Anonymous12:43 PM

We now come out in the Ace...and fumble the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  81. up until this drive we've got a whopping 44 yards of offense. par for the course, eh?

    ***k! fumble!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Mario Fannin: Georgian for "fumble."

    ReplyDelete
  83. Anonymous12:44 PM

I'm not sure that was a catch.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anonymous12:44 PM

Are they reviewing whether or not he made the catch?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Anonymous12:44 PM

It'll be overturned, he never had it tucked away. I'm sticking with that.

    ReplyDelete

    Auburn football=NO Playmakers on Offense

    That bugs me...

    ReplyDelete
  89. Anonymous12:45 PM

pretty pitiful , catch or not

    ReplyDelete
  90. Nice job by Kodi to make that pass. Not so good job by Fannin on the reception. Still, that's an example of the raw ability that Kodi has. What he needs now is some decent coaching.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Anonymous12:46 PM

We tried to throw deep on 2nd and 10 instead of 1st and 10 and ...we were covered deep on 2nd and 10, then we fumble the short outlet pass reception..

I haven't been this cynical re: AU football since Bowden

    ReplyDelete
  92. Anonymous12:46 PM

    We got a break there.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Anonymous12:46 PM

    time for a draw

    ReplyDelete
  94. We got a break there.

    Yup. Big one.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Anonymous12:47 PM

Trott shaken up. I'm starting to expect at least one player injured per play.

    ReplyDelete
  96. well, he didn't have control of it - just a good reversal of a bad call

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'll swear Ensminger says:

"Kodi, find Trott -- he's the No. 5 between the hashes, and throw it to him."

    ReplyDelete
  98. Q just said on the radio that we haven't attempted a pass of more than 20 yards yet. Which goes directly in the face of what CTT said in the pregame. Things like that are what make me think we don't have any kind of plan on offensive.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Anonymous12:48 PM

showin some effort, come on O!!

    ReplyDelete
  100. sure friggin' seems that way cotton. good grief.

    Agreed.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Anonymous12:49 PM

BAM! A bullet right in the foot for the offense.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Anonymous12:50 PM

That penalty was right on cue. Just starting to build some momentum.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Anonymous12:50 PM

Is there a better way for us to signal a running play than to line up under ceter.

    ReplyDelete
  105. are we waiving the white flag.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Anonymous12:51 PM

Fannnin is fast, but can't shift to find the hole. Not that one was there anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  115. What the H*** was THAT? Come on AU! Tackle!

    ReplyDelete
  116. if we can't score, it's just a matter of time in the 2nd half.

Holding to a FG would be huge.

    Well, nevermind.

    PASS INTERFERENCE ON DEFENSE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
    BS CALL

    ReplyDelete
  121. Just saying this as an impartial observer ... that TD is wrap.

    ReplyDelete
  122. where the hell did McFadden push?

guess it doesn't matter. he caught it anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Anonymous12:59 PM

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll make some of our famous half time adjustments and come out strong in the second half. And yes, I am kidding.

    ReplyDelete
  127. how about that UGA-FLA game. should be a doozy! :(

    ReplyDelete
  128. Anonymous12:59 PM

The field goal was a wrap, that was a bs interference call, but I have no doubt they would have scored on the next play.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Anonymous12:59 PM

    Damn we are terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Anonymous12:59 PM

Jay - Was that a wrap on the game or crap? Maybe both?

    ReplyDelete
  131. i think in the 2nd half i am going to double my alcohol consumption. at this point i am WWAAAAAYYYYY BEHIND!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Anonymous1:00 PM

Can't see us scoring 10 points in this game.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Anonymous1:00 PM

I mean really, how can our offence be THIS bad!

    ReplyDelete
  134. Anonymous1:00 PM

Theres only been ONE comeback from being down by 10 or more points in Tubs career at Auburn. This isn't looking good.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Wrap on the game.

Auburn hasn't even cracked mid-field yet.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Once again, another week and absolutely NO SIGNS of improvement.

This team is not getting better and I don't think it matters how much time CTT is given - it will not get better, not this year.

Just another sign IMO of the complacency that must be purged from the AU program.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Anonymous1:00 PM

Man I am glad this game is on the internet and I didn't pay this week.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Anonymous1:00 PM

can't wait for a game that has two teams competing!

    ReplyDelete
  139. OK...who really believes that the NallsmimgerFranklin monster offense is going to come back from ten points down in the second half? This is the worst AU team of my lifetime, or at least since I moved to Alabama and started following AU in 1972. Yes, worse even than 1998. At least in 1998 I believed that we might come back.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Anonymous1:01 PM

Wow. We just gave up. That's a wrap indeed.

    Not even trying to score??
That's a GREAT message to send to the team. And Tuberville wonders why people think the team quits?

    ReplyDelete
  143. Anonymous1:01 PM

Beautiful way to end the half, pretty much summarizes the game. Great call not to use the time outs, lets save those for the second half.

    ReplyDelete
  144. ok, now we have the ball at midfield and run out the clock?

    ReplyDelete
  145. Anonymous1:01 PM

We look scared to death. Put fork in us, we're done.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Anonymous1:02 PM

And just think that was our GOOD half of football. Maybe this will end the delusional talk of beating UGA or Bama.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Materful. Absolutely brilliant coaching.

If you are down by 10 with 34 seconds, DON'T TRY TO THROW IT DOWN THE FIELD! This is a bad stategy because you might score.

    What - in - the - hell

  149. Anonymous1:03 PM

    ReplyDelete
  150. Anonymous1:03 PM

worst offensive line ever for Auburn

    ReplyDelete
  151. Anonymous1:04 PM

Our only hope is we run back the second half kickoff, give up a field goal, and then run that kickoff back, giving us the 14-13 win, that's the only way i see us winning this one, hopefully someone that wants to coach and some guys that want to play at AU are watching and see that they can come in and have nowhere to go but up.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Anonymous1:04 PM

Auburn had 3 timeouts and the ball at almost mid-field with 34 seconds on the clock. Not only did they not use a timeout to try to get in field goal range, they snapped the ball with one second left so Kodi could throw a 5 yard pass...

What in the hell is Tuberville thinking?

Did he forget how to coach?

    ReplyDelete
  153. On every single running play we have run, Ole Miss has at least one unblocked defender in the backfield.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Anonymous1:05 PM

this product will not longer sell as is, too much instability with this program now....change is a must

    ReplyDelete
  155. Anonymous1:08 PM

so much for the auburn creed with this staff

    ReplyDelete
  156. Anonymous1:11 PM

Jim, the big third down we ran a counter was a microcosm of the offense today and this year, more defenders than blockers, screw it, run it anyhow, maybe we'll get lucky, maybe not, just look pitiful, like someone replaced our football players with bandmembers, no disrespect to any bandmembers out there by lumping you in the same boat as the AU offense.
