Rumor has it that we will re-convene tomorrow (12/24) for another afternoon chat. I'll probably have nothing new to discuss, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun.
Have a nice evening.

Recall the scene in Dickens's A Christmas Carol where those engaged in caring for the unwanted in Ebenezer Scrooge's London are rebuffed by the miserable tightwad: "Let those poor go to the prisons and the Union workhouses," is Scrooge's reply to the plea for Christmas charity. "And if they would rather die, they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

ReplyDeleteHotties ...
ReplyDeleteGood night ... I'll be at the campfire tomorrow, but if I don't yap with you tomorrow, then consider you and yours wished a very Merry Christmas.
I've got go wrap Mrs. Jet's presents.
Man.
ReplyDeleteYou people are some haters. I love Christmas, and the Baby Jesus. I'm no Scrooge. Y'all are mean!
I just think Josh Bynes isn't an SEC linebacker YET (he could be, but isn't yet!); that Barkley should be clubbed like a seal, and Pat Dye should be really, really quiet.
On the other hand, I'm happy to give Chiz the benefit of the doubt and support him as my alma mater's coach. I just hope he's more ruthless than he comes across. Something I think a lot of people fail to understand is this:
With as much coaching talent as there is in the SEC -- and even in our division -- our guy is going to have to be cut-throat and downright mean; on the field and on the recruiting trail.
Coach Jordan was a fine man. He was a WWII veteran and a great Auburn alumnus. And he was 5-19 against Bryant. Do we want a nice guy for a coach (and by extension, an athletic director), or someone who knows the deal and is willing to destroy his enemies?
Because I have what may be news for some of you: Saban and (believe it or not) Petrino are looking to put heads on sticks outside the city gate. It's time for us to man up. The time for singing the alma mater and reciting the creed are over. It's war, people.
Merry Christmas.
Goodnight, Jet.
ReplyDeletesuppp tonight
ReplyDeleteHotties
Really a very very quiet night AUN.
ReplyDeletethats because we dont have any coaching hires yet and the natives are getting restless
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Coaching hires would definitely up the post count. Oh well. Time to go relax. Night all.
ReplyDeleteI want someone that "Kill them all" and let God sort them out.
ReplyDeleteMonica, is your avatard a picture of Catwoman going tee-tee?

ReplyDeletewhat scoop?
ReplyDeleteFor some unknown reason, I was forced to get to the airport early enough to be at my gate an hour and a half before takeoff.
what scoop?
ReplyDeleteFor some unknown reason, I was forced to get to the airport early enough to be at my gate an hour and a half before takeoff.
Who forced you, Peter?
ReplyDeleteMorning everyone!! Sorry to miss the campfire yesterday, but my corporate IT PTB have decided that it's not safe for me to be near a campfire while at work.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes for all those wondering, that is Gene Chizik, in a Captain America outfit, with a Santa hat on.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the campfire .. I've got some leftover jet fuel somewhere around here. I can throw it on the campfire to help stay hot.
ReplyDeleteHere's my analysis of some possible AU OC candidates by Process of Elimination:
ReplyDeleteOf the teams that had a top-25 Offense in 2008, the following OC's took Head Coaching jobs:
- Missouri OC (to Wyoming HC)
- Florida OC (to Miss Stake HC)
- Illinois OC (to New Mexico HC)
- Ball State OC (to Ball State HC)
Some teams with top-25 offenses are due directly to the Head Coach: Houston, Texas Tech, Nevada, Oregon, Rice, Kansas, Boise State.
Also, AU's OC position would be a lateral move (at best) from these teams with top-25 offenses: Oklahoma, Texas, Penn St, USC, Oklahoma St, Nebraska, Georgia.
The following schools are outside of AU's Zone Of Influence: BYU, Cent Mich, West Mich.
Which leaves the following OC's:
La-Lafayette OC Bob Heffner
Southern Miss OC Blake Anderson
Memphis OC Clay Helton
Tulsa OC Gus Malzahn
The first three run smash-mouth, the last runs a pass-first attack.
If a Position Coach is in the mix he would have to come from a SEC school with a top-25 offense, I would think, which leaves these schools: Georgia, Florida. Stacey Searls (UGA OL Coach) fits nicely into this category.

Buck
what the heck are Monnie and PF doing up before 5am? goodness gracious.
ReplyDeletehappy christmas eve hotties. war damn eagle!
Monnie posted that at 6:50 a.m. EST. Merry Christmas to you too, Scottie! :-)
ReplyDeleteIn other news, Al Borges has been hired as offensive coordinator at San Diego State.
i know Mon. still early. :)
ReplyDeletei was checking out Eddie's pics from Disney. my wifey talks about going all the time. maybe we'll get there one day. looks like fun.
Good for Al. I guess that means the Mrs. will be leaving her post at Auburn.
ReplyDeleteI see where Satan won AP Coach of the Year. Dreading Christmas dinner tomorrow where the evil Bama relatives will be crowing. I have some very OBNOXIOUS nephews. They don't know how to win graciously, like their classy aunt. They've been saving up for 6 years, so I know they will be waiting anxiously at the door for me to arrive. They are so bad, that my FAVORITE nephew has about completed his conversion from the evil side to the good side. He goes to several games with me and cheers on our Tigers.
ReplyDeleteKathy = Child Advocate
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work, Aunt Kathy!
Happy Christmas Eve Mon. My evil nephews make it very easy to turn the good ones!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they will all be dressed out in their new, bright white and black Houndstooth. Thank goodness they aren't the kind that fly car flags 24/7.
ReplyDeletei'll be with my Tennessee grad father-in-law and a few more UT peeps but we've all had crappy seasons up here. shouldn't be bad.
ReplyDeleteat least there's always Lady Vols basketball to cheer us up. :)
Back to wrapping presents. Merry Christmas Eve Hotties!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning HOTTIES!
ReplyDeleteAll is well at Casa de Mobile
Sooooo AB landed on his feet San Diego State huh, SWEET for him!
ReplyDeleteHey scottieb, what about the lady tigers... they're still undefeated....all things being equal cheer for the Home Team!
ReplyDeleteBTW they play Tennessee Lady Vols at Auburn, should be a great game!
speaking of San Diego, did anyone watch the Poinsettia (sp?) Bowl last nite? i caught the second half. pretty nice. i was hoping Boise would get their undefeated season but it wasn't to be.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great Game scottiedb, I watched it while I was loading chrome at home.... you hooked me up with that little knowledge, appreciate dude
ReplyDeleteoh, i'm not a Lady Vols fan. far from it. i have went to a couple games when the Lady Tigers played up here. i cheer for all things AU all the time.
ReplyDeletethe Lady Tigers are having a fantastic start to their season. i'm hoping they make a good run like Ciampi did back in the day.
Watched it Scottie. I think we may have seen possibly the best bowl game that they have gotten together this season.
ReplyDeletescottieb,
ReplyDeleteyou working today or at the hizzle?
mrtommyd,
ReplyDeletewhat's up? nice santa hat on your Justice League apparel!
Why thank you AU! I'm enjoying the festive look, as well. (all said in that grand superhero voice)
ReplyDeletemrtommyd,
ReplyDeleteyou are soooo gonna hear from Wonder Woman and Aqua Girl and the fashion police on that move buddy!
It'd only be because they're jealous since they didn't think of it first.
ReplyDeletei'm having to work. or at least be at work. i'm not going to tell you how i really feel about it. you know, since this is a family forum and all.
ReplyDeleteHummmmm,
ReplyDeleteI agree I might need to do something with Heat Miser...he's looking a little HOT HEADED, so let me see if i can slip into my SUPER HERO OUTFIT just for today!
Just to be mored Festive on Christmas Eve! plus the Partay Starts at @pm today again!
Is it a sad thing that I'm looking forward to the campfire/virtual party more than any party my office would have had?
ReplyDeletemrtommyd,
ReplyDeletei'm so sorry i'm at the hizzle about to cook breakfast for kids and get mr. turkey ready for the DEEP 6 this afternoon.
Got to shoot him up and rub him down....hummmmmm somehow that sounded so sexual...
How you like my new Costume for the CF today....pretty spiffy, huh?
Damn,
ReplyDeletethat was the wrong apparel....
That was just not fit for this partay today!
Found the right outfit now!
WOW AU - Where'd you get that pick of Eltoro?!?
ReplyDeleteActually I'm at the house too.I'll be mixing up injection marinades later for the deep frying event tomorrow.
oposer (buck) says Tulsa is a "pass first" offense.
ReplyDeleteHere are the numbers:
TOTAL PLAYS: 1007
PASS: 397
RUSH: 610
I'll let you determine the percentages. Get back with me.
my sis is at norad tracking santa today. happy chrismakwanzahannukah to all.
ReplyDeleteIs there any hope in getting Malzahn? I would like that.....ALOT!
ReplyDeleteHope? Sure. He's at Tulsa, man.
ReplyDeletePerhaps Jay - They literally passed the ball on first down, then ran it on 2nd and 3rd, giving them the pass first offense, and hence the disparity. yeah that doesn't work either, does it
ReplyDeletemrtommyd,
ReplyDeleteI have cajan butter for one side, what do you suggest for the other? i was thinking about going with a garlic n herb.
Malzon as OC, wouldn't be a bad choice...
Jay,
ReplyDeleteAny chance Trooper Taylor gets a look at OC? We need his recruiting abilities on this staff.
Had great success with a honey teriyaki for Thanksgiving. But since you have Cajun on one side, that garlic/herb on the other would be great I bet.
ReplyDeleteI just wish we would hear something soon as the natives are getting restless and want some news on staff hires quickly before we loose more commitments.
ReplyDeleteSome one said that they heard from a friend that knows somebody, that everything would be in place by Jan 5. Atleast I think that's what I read
ReplyDeletemrtommyd,
ReplyDeleteI like the honey teriyaki idea, especially since I have something spicy on one side something sweet on the other would be nice...
Think i will head to the store to pick it up today...
SWEET!!!
I don't think Auburn's recruiting situation will decay between now and the end of bowl season. Chizik and those three guys he has right now will make the calls and whatnot.
ReplyDeleteThe other guys, for the most part, are secured. It's a matter of announcing this stuff ...
Don't expect to her anything until next week.
ReplyDeleteGlad to help AU!!
ReplyDeleteJay, do you think Malzahan will be given a serious look? Malzahan would be a perfect coach without AU ties to bring in with a fresh outlook on offense. Which means we will probably hire Pat Nix. Merry Christmas to all of the Hotties and especially Jay. Thanks for the great info and hard work.
ReplyDeleteJay G.
ReplyDeleteI agree... i think actually Chizik has done a really good job hitting the road visiting recruits and shoring up things until the staff is put together..
I think if Auburn gets a good O-staff that they can turn things around quickly... there is talent on this team just need a few playmakers at WR adn some fast RB's adn i Smart QB!
ok HOTTIES,
ReplyDeleteGot to run for a bit but i will be back later....
Jay G,
CF at 2pm? please issue a MEMO to all HOTTIES!
PEACE Y
I wonder if these staff choices are like the head coach choice; whoever is being mentioned is not who they're planning to get, and they've already been chosen.
ReplyDeleteGonna head out 2. Hope to be back for the CF. If not, everyone have a fantastic Christmas, and continued fun and frolic through the holidays.
ReplyDeleteJay,
ReplyDeleteYou say its a done deal..am I barking up the right tree if I said Gailey for OC and Herring for DC announcement monday??
