Another prospect commits

THURSDAY NIGHT
Post No. 1,014

Our friends at AuburnSports.com are reporting that Daren Bates of Olive Branch, Miss., has accepted a scholarship offer from Auburn.

He had been committed to Arkansas State. Bates had received a surge of interest in recent weeks, though, and reportedly was encouraged by Alabama to travel via motor vehicle to Tuscaloosa for some Crimson-tinged fraternization. That apparently will not happen.

Bates is the 24th recruit to announce plans to sign with Auburn next week.

  1. An offer to visit Alabama is what he received. According to Rivals at least.

Monica they were at Academy Sports in Auburn. I just happened to be going into the store and looked to my left and there they were. I grabbed some baseballs and stood in line for 2 hours and got some autographs!!!

  3. Mark, bud, are we reading the same story?

From Bryan Matthews' report: "Bates, who previously committed to Arkansas State, saw his recruitment heat up over the last few days, adding a verbal offer from Alabama this week."

  26. In hoops, a single loss ain't necessarily a bad thing.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't get recruiting. Bates is a two star, yet he has offers from bama, UT, and us. So who is right, the SEC or scout.com?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Michael, if it's on the internets it must be true.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 2 star either means not very good... or could mean unknown.. they may not have film on him to have evaluated him...????

    This is ... devastating.

    Oh, the humanity.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Seriously...it might not be a bad thing to get a loss out of the way... Better now than in March.

  36. Mobilz sounds like a hangover from last snday..oh well nice start ladies.

  37. Mobilz ...

You did your best ... in a 30 game season, trying to go wall to wall is virtually impossible.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well anyone have any idea what the jet was doing in New Jersey?

  40. Since I have enjoyed a few hours of entertainment hangin' around the HABOTN, I'm gonna give a little back. In 35 minutes, on the obscure TRU channel, the funniest unscripted show on TV will air for an hour. It is called "The Principal's Office," and it is nothing more than watching high school principals deal with their problem kids.

If you're thinking that can't possibly be funny, check the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFAGUAl8lxE

    You're welcome.

  41. Moon is a lurker!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I have admitted that many times, including numerous times on the air.

    This is a great place.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh, absolutely. But personally, this is the first time I've seen evidence of it.

    So, Bags is a lurker!

    ReplyDelete
  44. The link was funny, Moon. Man, that principle was a sissy. Was he oblivious to them talking down to him? My principle was much more scary.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Jay ... after that 2 x 4 across his nose you gave him, he hasn't been seen since.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh, Josh that cracked me up!

"I'm just bending over tying my shoe and he's strecthing...not a big deal."

    ReplyDelete
  47. Man, that was classic! Top 5 ranking, media spotlight, just had an emotional win,and then WHAM- lose the very next game (on tv no less). It happens all the time, you almost can call your shot on it. Still, I think this loss will make them better in the end. WDE ladies!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Pretty much a textbook loss for the womens.

But it's OK ... they're having an amazing year. they'll be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Chizik thread is up.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Two stars huh? Maybe we can keep someone from Tub's staff to "coach 'em up"!
