Campfire notice

WEDNESDAY MORNING
Post No. 1,008

Hey everyone. It's great ... to be ... a HABOTN HOTTIE.

I'm thinking it's time for a campfire. At some point today we will log our 1,000,000th pageview in recorded history. More than 80% of that traffic has come since June 1, 2008 -- two years after we began -- which shows you how quickly our popularity is multiplying.

To celebrate, let's hold a campfire to celebrate our achievement.

I'll be here starting at 2 p.m. CST. If you can't make it because of work, I understand. We'll hold an evening campfire soon -- either tonight or Thursday.

Thanks, as always, for making the HABOTN so dadgum incandescent.

UPDATE: WE HAVE BOUNDED INTO THE RECORD BOOKThere it is. We have cracked the 1,000,000 plateau. It occurred overnight, I believe.

RECRUITING NEWS: Our friends at AuburnSports.com report that Auburn sent a four-coach flotilla to Austin, Texas, last night for a chat with WR Emory Blake and his peeps. That's an unusually large traveling party. Blake has said he'll announce a decision on Feb. 4. I have no reason to believe he'll pull the trigger before then.

  3. HABOTN: Where ACT scores still matter.

    ReplyDelete
  4. On that same note, Tyrik should just get diagnosed with ADD and take the "extended time" ACT. I had a bunch of friends who did that in high school and they made much much better score. And it is pretty easy to get diagnosed with ADD. Just go to the doctor and say you are having trouble paying attention. There ya go.

Hey, one of you nuts who are facebook friends with him should forward this information on. We can make him an Auburn Tiger if we work at it!

  5. To continue a conversation being held on the previous thread:

The first Grateful Dead download pack included:
    Casey Jones
    Truckin'
    China Cat Sunflower
    Franklin's Tower
    I Need A Miracle
    Sugar Magnolia

... plus "Alabama Getaway" is on the Rock Band 2 disc.

It's just like, it's just like a mini show.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Jay,

Are they the extended live versions or the standard 4 min studio versions?

I can imagine playing a 20 min live version of Franklin's Tower and getting 19 mins into it and then fail.

I have to admit, I have an unhealthy addiction to Guitar Hero: World Tour.

    ReplyDelete
  8. There are some songs I recognize.

I love Rock Band/Guitar Hero, but I can never justify spending that much moolah on a new gaming system and then even more moolah on those games. I got kids to feed!

    ReplyDelete
  9. World Tour is a lot of fun. I actually like it better than Rock Band, but no real complaints about either.

    ReplyDelete
  10. wouldn't playing all those Gratefule Dead songs in a row take like 4 hours

    ReplyDelete
  11. By the way, Monica, Jet, 4 realz, let Tyrik know that he is ADD and can take the ACT with extra time. We don't have much time here, he will probably need to sign up soon.

I put this on the other board, but I think that Rollison making the grade on the ACT is less than 50-50. He made the 13 less than a year ago, then 15 in the fall. The greatest improvement usually comes on the second try, and the chance for improvement on the third try is small- a large number of test-takers actually go backward.

I think the suggestion before that he might be better served by taking the SAT is a god one - especially since he took Algebra II. It weighs math heavier.

I just think we'll be fortunate if he qualifies.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I have never liked the Rock Band guitar. It always seemed like it lagged a bit. I am more in tune with the guitar hero guitar.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anonymous9:50 AM

Maybe we could start a petition: "Tyrivk PLEASE take the SAT instead!"

    ReplyDelete
  15. He's the best tackler since Joe Montanya.

What do we know about Blake?

I have truly enjoyed this BLOG.... we have genuine conversation that is insightful, funny, hard-hitting, edgy and just plain HOT!!!!

We are the most quoted of all AUBURN Blogs, and I can truly say it's because of the well mannered, and respectful thoughts that the HOTTIES put out....

We are thankful for you doing what you do on a daily bases to give most of us a forum to release and speak without being "the GRAND PooPah" and editing us one and all....

We appreciate you and wish you well for all your days....

    Our Fearless Leader JAY G.TATE...

Raise you glasses and toast the HABOTN!!!

    Here-Here!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Tyrik's HC is HS has said he believes Rollison will be a full qualifyer with ease.

    ReplyDelete
  18. AUn, cheers mate!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I still have no answer as to what the G stands for -- Gary?

Anyway, I enjoy this blog because it polices itself without being fascist.

    ReplyDelete
  20. 1 MILLION HITS? FREAKIN' AUSOME. ANOTHER MILESTONE JG. CONGRATS.

AND YES, I THOUGHT THIS HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT DESERVED 'ALL CAPS'. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Question on recruiting for next year. Obviously, this year the new coaches are continuing to recruit from the areas where they know players(Texas,etc.). But next year, will they continue to recruit these areas hard, or will they return to AU's traditional areas of Alabama, Florida and the Southeast in general? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  22. does the millionth hit win something?

    ReplyDelete
  23. If Tyrik shows significant improvement the next time around, the NCAA will just flag it and say he couldn't have gotten that much smarter, even if, through tutoring/coaching, he actually did.
The NCAA can be such bullies.

    ReplyDelete
  24. depressed, I've heard from statements that they want to start hitting the in-state talent hard while also moving outward from there. I think some of the kids we're getting from outside are based on prior relationships and contacts.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well said MobileZ; I second that emotion

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sounds like they're pulling out all the stops, like when they sent everybody in Auburn to visit Carnell. That worked, maybe this will too. Congrats on the 1,000 post and 1,000,000 page views. That's a pretty big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous10:00 AM

On Blake they actually met with him on Monday night. They coaches were in Louisiana and Mississippi yesterday. They have told a couple prospects they we are full at Lb. Interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Coach Chizik said this year is an anomaly, that AU won't be looking so far and wide in the future, but will concentrate on AL, AL, AL, GA, FL. Not exclusively on those states, just emphasis there.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The dreded NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE:

Who was it - the LB from Opelika that had his paperwork approved but the NCAA admitted that they just forgot about it.

    "Ooops, sorry kid.

We know your life's future is in limbo but I had a pastrami sammich that day and it gave me gas, so I had to take a nap and forgot all aboot your transcipts."

    ReplyDelete
  30. If your score on the ACT bumps up too much at one time, then it raises suspicion and would be investigated by either the ACT group or the NCAA. He would have to make the improvement over several attempts. I'll be really concerned if he enrolls this fall.

    ReplyDelete
  31. They have told a couple prospects they we are full at Lb. Interesting.

To quote Kyle's mom WHATWHAT WHAT??!!??

    ReplyDelete
  32. The difference in a 15 and a 19 can easily be explained by better preperation and expansion of your knowledge base. If he hits a 22+ be concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  33. How many times can a kid take it and in what timeframe?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Did they even tell Tana that?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Just a thought -Who in HADES came up with the idea to do a show about plane crashes?

NatGeo has a show called Air Emergencies - If you're taking a trip soon don't watch it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. "I need a miracle" would be a good theme song for auburn fans as far as getting randle or Brown to come to the plains.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Thanks for the replies. I look forward to seeing AU compete again for the top talent in-state. I don't care where players come from, but AU cannot compete at the top level getting shut-out every year in the top 10-12 in-state players. This has turned into a disturbing trend. I am intrigued to see Luper and Trooper going against the evil empire.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Inverness -I think you are referring to LeMarcus Rowell, the LB from Opelika.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Does anyone know how many OL have made it in the NFL from Texas Tech lately? Just curious since they don't run an NFL type offense, but have done an awesome job of preventing sacks.
Do y'all think Gus Malzahn's offense will be attractive to OL recruits?

    ReplyDelete
  40. congrats on the 1,000,000 hits.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thats a pretty generic grateful dead song list...y no dark star...terrapin station..i guess you actually would have to have some talent to play those songs,...sorry for hatin but i "as a musician" jus dont like the whole guitar hero stuff..y not actually learn how to play..i guess some people jus aint got it...sorry JAY i know u love that stuff...i just dont get.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I ain't got it.

I'm not shy about admitting this.

    ReplyDelete
  43. AU will get back into the game IN -STATE but as we all know, AU will have to get back bigtime, into FL and GA.

I'd be happy with 4-6 of the top 12 players in AL and a few from neighboring states.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Inverness, I think you can take the ACT as many times as you can

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hey Scottie B, I heard a song on Sirius yesterday and thought of you.
Have you ever heard the song - Scotty doesn't know
    Classic!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I wish I could identify who was responsible for the 1,000,000th hit, but it's just not possible.

That would have been a Hall of Fame moment for someone.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Nooj, I'm one of those guys who just don't have it. I've tried to pick up the guitar a couple times. But I am just tone deaf and don't have it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Malzhan's offense is nothing like Tx Tech's in that in actually runs the ball.

TT's OL scheme has major splits and throws quickly, that's why there's no sacks.

CGM's offense shouldn't have a hardtime attracting OL propects.

    ReplyDelete
  49. "Do y'all think Gus Malzahn's offense will be attractive to OL recruits?"

No idea if they get big OL recruits or get a look at the NFL, but he ones at Texas Tech do a good enough job to make their offense work very well.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Are any of the Dead songs the live version where you'll be playing the same note for 15 straight minutes?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Jay GT - I may have been the millionth. I'm feeling tingly all over.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Aubie - if I had a poo that big, I'd be so proud I'd wear it on my head, too.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anonymous10:26 AM

Chizik, Rocker, and Malzahn visited Blake nite of 1/26 - not sure who/if fourth coach was, but I hope they flew in the B52...

Darren Bates **S, Olive Branch, MS will visit this wknd. with teammate big OL ****Aubrey Phillips, 6-6, 310.

AU offered 2010 RB Storm Johnson, Buford, GA, 6-1, 210.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Awsome name for a RB - Storm Johnson.

Do you know if the S and the BIG OL are close friends?

To me, that will be the biggest GET of them all.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Texas Tech had some pretty good talent in '08 on offensive line, nothing to scoff at.

On that note..I remember thinking entering the '08 season that would be one of AU's strengths!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anonymous10:35 AM

    Nooj - I got it

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous10:35 AM

    and gots it

    ReplyDelete
  58. I know you guys as smart as you are, have already discussed somewhere but....Does Petey going to UAT help our chances at Tana?

    ReplyDelete
  59. What do I want for lunch? Do I go home and eat cereal (HoneyComb or Cocoa Pebbles) - or - do I go get something (and if so, what?)?

    ReplyDelete
  60. On the Pebbles front, I recommend the Fruity Variety.

I can buy a box of them and often Wifey eats the whole damn box leaving the box in the pantry as a taunt.

    Vengence will be mine!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I play guitar, and I also enjoy guitar hero. They are two very different skills. I remember being frustrated about songs I had trouble passing on guitar hero that I could play in real life. It's a fun video game, you should try it nooj.

And Rock Band takes it to a whole nuther level because of the singing. That's just fun to get in and play with the friends/family.

And TarHEelTiger, I am sorry, but that funny feeling you had was probably just part of you becoming a man. I am fairly certain that I was the millionth hit.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Congrats on another HABOTN milestone Jay. I love all the different views of the Auburn program I see here.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Anonymous10:58 AM

    So for lunch today...

    I'm thinking BBQ..

    Miss Myra's perhaps?

    ReplyDelete
  64. drive to Memphris and get some reall BBQ, FSJ. That is my recommendation.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Mcheial, I was thinking the same thing. Not that I play guitar but I know several who do who love guitar hero.

What's the difference between Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band?

    ReplyDelete
  66. MillerTime,
Based on your dentition, I'd avoid the pre-sweeetened cereals for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  67. i also can somewhat play a real guitar, poorly, but i can play it. I still really enjoy Rock Band, especially the drums

    ReplyDelete
  68. Michael,
I'm sure I haven't hit that milestone yet. Perhaps it was all the fudge I ate.

    ReplyDelete
  69. This comment has been removed by the author.

I agree with AUnMobilz on the name
    "the GRAND PooPah"

I have enjoyed this site and everyone that gets on here and posts

    YES, IT'S GREAT
    TO BE
    A HABOTN HOTTIE

    ReplyDelete
  72. Kristenah, the difference between Guitar Hero and Rock Band is they are made by different companies, I think. Guitar Hero came first, then someone said, "Hey, what if we did the whole band," so they made Rock Band, so then Guitar Hero said, "WTF! That was like our idea, only better! We better do that to!" So they did. The instruments have a little different feel to them, but it's the same concept. Different songs also, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Mon,
Have you seen the Brewton coach's blog?
    http://coacheseagleeye.blogspot.com/

    Great article on AU recruiting

    ReplyDelete
  78. ok HOTTIES,

Here's my opinion.... we get three verbals this weekend:

    Taikwon Paige DB

    Aubrey Phillips OT

    Darren Bates, S

    David Oku- RB (Wildcard)

    Tell me your thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Hey Mobilezzzz - I've been busy as hello. Had to come into office - used ice skates to get here - trying to finish up some stuff before Greg comes to pick me up in a few minutes. Then we'll head back home, hunker down and hope we don't lose power like 60,000 other folks in our area already have. Oh and it's snowing again.

    ReplyDelete
  80. That's alright Scottie B. Fiona wasn't good for you anyway.
By the way, it's from the movie Eurotrip, which, by the way, did NOT win an Academy Award. shame.

    ReplyDelete
  81. weathering the ice storm well, mon?

    ReplyDelete
  82. There is going to be wome weird posts today just to get on here for the 1000000 post.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Tar - I'm blinding by my own desire to have Blake here. I can't be trusted for an opinion.

Aubie - Yes, I saw that. He's a coach at W.S. Neal in East Brewton. He was on the official visit with Jamar Travis.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Mobilz would love to get Oku. This guy is good. Then have Phillips as well. Shaping up to be a nice class.

    ReplyDelete
  85. So far so good, Scottie. I'm going to try to take some more pics on the drive from my office back home in a few minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Oh and Dirty is having a baby GIRL! YAY!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Can you imagine the anguish if Monica looses power. I think she would miss HABOTN more than heat :).

    Be safe Mon!

    ReplyDelete
  88. I agree moblz,
I'll add Greg King to that list.

    ReplyDelete
  89. yup, be careful Monnie. we need more doggie/snow pics. :)

aubie, i dunno. the whole Fiona/Lana Lang this is kinda hottt. :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. Eddie - Bite your tongue! I've already decided I'll save my laptop battery for the Campfire this afternoon. Not that I considered that before I even thought about "bread and milk" or anything. *cough*

    Lata :-)

    ReplyDelete
  91. Jim rome...you live in mobile? if so we should Jam sometime....tryin to start a band....rock/regaee/jammm....

    ReplyDelete
  92. Mon,
be careful... if you loose power you can just run a generator to holla at us on the HABOTN, or we will send smoke signals up for you...

scottie, atl, eddie, MT, lets go get'em this weekend.... it's the bottom of the ninth, we got our rally caps turned inside out and backwards (cuz CTT wants us to, nuff said) and our power hitters, are due up....down by two runs, and all we need is to get somebody on and get the big-bopper (CGC) up to the plate....

    DRAMA!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Was there really a holier than thou post on here about because someone plays a musical instrument they look down on rock band and guitar hero?

I played baseball and football, does that mean I should look down on people who play those games on a Playstation?

    ReplyDelete
  94. I met the Brewton coach last weekend. I really like him. Very enthusiastic and obviously made the correct career choice.

    ReplyDelete
  95. AUN, i'll be putting in new countertops in the kitchen for the big Super Bowl party sunday. if there's anything i can do to move this recruiting weekend along let me know!

    ReplyDelete
  96. It was me...i dont have anything against people that play guitar hero...just dont get ti myself...more power to you if that what u like...just not for me.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Anonymous11:48 AM

How many Hotties are fans of The Pink Floyd?

    Inquiring minds want to know...

    ReplyDelete
  98. And yes you can clown on people for playin playstation football....wont get you anywhere but you are within your rights to do so!

    ReplyDelete
  99. And i am pretty sure you did not have the moves that my PS3 running back has...juke left, juke right , stiff arm...bam..lol...hope by now u realize i am just messin with ya.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Floyd is one of my all time favs.

    ReplyDelete
  101. i'm more of a Zeppelin fan myself Sensi.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Michael, I'm with you on getting a new gae system (actually getting A game system) then paying for the game. BUT not having played guitar, it's fun to "play" with the band. However now that they have the drums, its almost all I can do not to go get a system off ebay and head to Walmart and get World Tour. Rock Band's drums are lots of fun and fairly real, but I've heard many good things about GH drum "kit".blah blah blah.

Congrats Jay G.Tate on the million hits

    ReplyDelete
  103. definitely a fan of floyd. my, pre-me, saw them in chicago around the time that meddle came out. they crashed an airplane into the stage.

    ReplyDelete
  104. We have cracked the 1,000,000 plateau officially.

Visual proof added to main thread.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  105. I loved Randall "Pink" Floyd ... swell Texas HS quarterback. It's a shame he wouldn't sign a form to signify his commitment to a championship season in '76.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Why not get a real drum set is all im sayin?

    ReplyDelete
  107. Nooj, this tangent is getting tiresome. Can we drop it?

    ReplyDelete
  108. I need a recruiting fix...anyone got any news?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Sure, i am sorry jay...i know u love rock band...and i agree it is gettin old...apologies...can we still be friends?

    ReplyDelete
  110. By your logic nooj, I guess I should stop stealing cars from the comfort of my man-cave and actually hit the streets.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Got one nooj. Play it too. BTW I also meant to say game. Wasn't implying anything towards Michael. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Sensi,

I like Pink Floyd, I think David Gilmour is an excellent guitarist. However, I also think The Wall is one of the most overrated albums of all time.

    ReplyDelete
  113. As long as you stop playing the main riff to "Stairway" ...

    ReplyDelete
  114. Oh NO...i have offended the HOTTIE nation...please dont gang up on me...IM SORRY...I love you all..rock band is the best game ever made.

    ReplyDelete
  115. you can't play stairway, the sign clearly indicates you can't do it.

    ReplyDelete
  116. "You're in need of a serious attitude adjustment young man.", said the coach to Randall 'Pink' Floyd.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I might be very late on this, but I just checked out Rollison's stats from this past year and I got school-girl giggly.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Hey JAYG, congrats on the very sucessful blog, and thank you for the very rare "unbiased reporting, it is a breath of fresh air in a smog filled media.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Thanks for your support, Nooj.

Scottie: I'm glad someone got that reference.

    ReplyDelete
  120. "Man, it's the same bs they tried to pull in my day. If it ain't that piece of paper, there's some other choice they're gonna try and make for you. You gotta do what Randall Pink Floyd wants to do man. Let me tell you this, the older you do get the more rules they're gonna try to get you to follow. You just gotta keep livin' man, L-I-V-I-N." - Wooderson

  121. D&C, my wife's favorite movie. good times JGT, good times.

    ReplyDelete
  122. jay....no news on recruiting huh?....im sorry just need a FIX

    ReplyDelete
  123. Anonymous12:11 PM

    Gilmour's work is undeniable.

The Wall was clearly Roger's opus and the rest of the guys were just there for the ride. The very best albums flow from Meddle - Wish You Were Here. I like the later stuff, but without Roger (even as out there as he can be) it just wasn't the same.

Congrats on the 1 mil mark, Jay G!

    ReplyDelete
  124. The Wall and The Final Cut have almost no guitar solos on it and seem to be mostly just Roger complaining about everything.

I thought even without Roger that The Division Bell was an excellent album.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Congrats on the Million+ page views JGT! You've been propping us readers up... but it wouldn't matter much, and we wouldn't have anything to read if you weren't doing your thing. You deserve the props!

    ReplyDelete
  126. most overrated band on all time to me is AC/DC. They are like nails on a chalkboard to me. vomit

    ReplyDelete
  127. I know its was me now -- I feel this incredible burden to live up to being the 1,000,000 th guy.

    Anyone got any smack?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Sensi,

I think it's funny that on The Final Cut, the 1st time you hear David Gilmour's voice is on the last track and he's saying "F--- all that" which I assume is a hidden message to the previous tracks.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Sensi - I just watched Pink Floyd: Which one's Pink" on VH1 Classic.

    A channel I highly recommned.

It talked straight to those facts and about how Waters now wishes he would have acted more like a grown up.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Anonymous12:17 PM

Final Cut is one I don't have, but I agree with your assessment, RK.

Hit me up on email and we will plan a Floyd listen-in sometime.

TDB is a good effort; High Hopes is as good a thing Gilmour ever wrote (even if his wife helped him).

    ReplyDelete
  131. I'm not into Rock Band and such, but anyone who likes classic rock might enjoy Wings FM if in Auburn. It is 100.3 on FM dial and I believe they broadcast in HD also.(I don't have HD Radio). Congratulations to Jay on the milestone. I know he puts in lots of free work for this blog and it is much appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I was a huge Pink Floyd fan in high school, don't listen to them hardly ever now, but I still like em. Post Meddle to The Wall was quite a run.

I don't know that the Wall is overrated, but it is the only Floyd Album I skip songs on. It was a bit bloated. Animals is probably my favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Anonymous12:19 PM

    Inverness Chris,

I watched and DVR'd that as well as the live Dark Side performance. Very good of Roger to admit that many years later. LOL!

I like the VH1 Classic channel as well.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Waters was a commie, so f that. Gilmour would be nothing without Waters, though, just like Waters would be nothing without Gilmour.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Not a big AC/DC post Bon Scott.

I have grown to love ths Stones more country/gritty works.

My wife gave me this huge coffee table book from Rolling Stone - top 500 albums of all time. 43 is Dark Side of the Moon.

    Kinda low IMO.

AWSOME book with a forward from Steven Van Zandt

  136. 100.3 is pretty good for classic rock and it is in HD.
Anybody else mad about digital TV being moved back, cause I am

    ReplyDelete
  137. Are the coaches visiting Jawanza Starling/Corey Gaines today?!

    ReplyDelete
  138. Harrison, AC/DC is harmless, you should be flogged for your unkind words. What did they ever do to you?

    ReplyDelete
  139. I just got it with AT&T along with a channel called PALADIA which is noothing but Live music in HD.

    Soundsatge, Crossroads, Storytellers and such.

I'm hoping to catch the MTV Live form the 10 spot Radiohead performance I have on VHS somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I love VH1 Classic, however they need to have more concerts on there, the loop of Rush and Motley Crue they have had lately is getting old.

It's funny to see Waters stance change, since in the mid 80's he sued them over the name because he figure the world thought he was Pink Floyd anyway.

Harrison, if people hadn't heard about the switch over by now, they live under a rock!

    ReplyDelete
  142. I side with Waters on the lawsuit. He was more Pink Floyd than the three of the other guys combined.

    Michael,

I think Roger is still a bit on the socialist side these days, but he has mellowed with age.

That Live 8 thing was awesome and the last you'll ever get from those 4, so if you have that, enjoy it.

I think they both realize how they needed each other through the years.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Ok, i flipped to Paladia and dammit, Snoop Doggs on with Dougie Fresh doing one of his old tunes "Tick tock"

    ReplyDelete
  145. Read the sign - "No Stairway"

Congrats to the Wonder Boy of Blogging, the one and only Mr. Jay G. "Geezy" Tate. Attaboy.

On AU basketball - man, when we go cold we go ARTIC.

    Beat Vandy!

    AU Women = BAD ASS

Okay, that was my Terets post for the day. Been a busy guy and just had to get on here and let it all out.

    Peace Hotties!

  146. Animals and Meddle are both GREAT albums...the WALL is overrated

    ReplyDelete
  147. I think it was equal parts Waters & Gilmour.

Without Gilmour's guitar tone and playing and his voice, Waters wouldn't have had the same chance to get his message to the masses.

    ReplyDelete
  148. AC/DC once rolled my yard. I hate them michael

    ReplyDelete
  149. Love gilmour though...his solo stuff is great..on an island gives me chills

"Without Gilmour's guitar tone and playing and his voice, Waters wouldn't have had the same chance to get his message to the masses."

Well written, RK. Don't count out how much Richard and Nick contributed to those arrangements. Richard was the purest musician in that group. Roger took control when Syd bailed because no one else would/could and that worked for four great records. The song High Hopes is pretty much all about that band's life, albeit told through Dave's eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  151. High hopes was written about the life of pink floyd.

    We all may be singing,

    The grass was greener
    The light was brighter
    With friends surrounded
    The night of wonder

if the Chizik era isn't comparable to the Tubs era.

  153. ah , i see sensi beat me to that fun fact.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Paladia is also on Charter HD here in the 'ham.
I love all the UK music festivals in HD.
Iggy Pop was on the other day showing a lot of plumber's crack in a skintight pair of pants. My kids couldn't believe that shriveled up old fart was dancing around like that... meaning Iggy... not me.

    ReplyDelete
  155. This takes me back to high school when I used to argue the merits of Waters and Gilmour. Pink Floyd would not have been iconic without Gilmour, but with another guitarist they still could have put out some hits. I don't think Gilmour would have done much of anything without Waters. Just my opinion.

And Harrison, just because you were a victim of a dirty deed done dirt cheap doesn't mean you have the right to be a jerk. At least they didn't use TNT or HIGGGHHH VVOOOLTAGE!!!!

Planes been to Atlanta this morning and is heading to Tallahassee this afternoon. Could we be getting a coach from FSU?

    ReplyDelete
  157. Aubie - have you been approached by AT&T's U-verse cable system?

We lowered our payment by 60-70 bucks and ADDED HD we didn't have.

We got the basic 200 channel setup and added some cool cool s**t.

Paladia's got some awsome stuff. I saw Iggy with the Stooges ripping it up. He was basically in the corwd the entire time. Cool.

  158. There is a great house band in Fayetteville AR called Windy Austin and the Hot House Tomato Boys. Whenever anyone yells Free Bird, old Windy flips them off and yells back - No Charge!

    ReplyDelete
  159. anyone here a widespread fan?

    ReplyDelete
  160. Aubie, what is that picture...is that a doo doo hat

    ReplyDelete
  161. Chris,
First of all, heard you on jox yesterday - great call about the bammer bball/recruiting issue.
Secondly, I hate Charter with all my soul. If the Taliban had a cable company I would use them. I need to check on the AT&T deal. The issue I have is with internet and email. We have had the same charter email address for 8 years and I don't want to have to change.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Yes Nooj, it's my poop hat. It keeps me warm and moist.
    (that's what she said)

Dear Leader is actually on the page! Just scroll down a little way.

  164. Widespread is good Nooj. Saw them live once. Not worth me getting their albums, but pretty good.

I was really into Phish back in the day, though.

    ReplyDelete
  165. I too hate Charter. They are the only cable option in Auburn. I bet they are owned by AC/DC

    ReplyDelete
  166. Anon,
I'm thinking they are visiting recruits in Tallyhassy
(Corey Gaines - 4* DT, visiting this weekend; Jawanza Starling - 4* safety/LB; James Green - 4* WR, UTenn commit)

    Nooj,
Yes, I am a Panic fan.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I've seen Panic twice. Both good shows. I'm not a big fan, but I like them.

I would like to see them now that Jimmy Herring is in the band. He's an excellent guitar player.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Michael .... Phish? Panic? You party guy you. Enjoyed Panic more at their show, but it may have been the venue and general, ummm, "atmoshpere" was going a little bit stronger than at the Phish show.

    ReplyDelete
  169. I saw Panic twice. Once in ATL on New Years Eve (Great show... At least the parts I remember), and once in Macon (don't remember much of this one, I think it was a good show).

    ReplyDelete
  170. Gonna be working and can't attend campfire! Try not to solve all the world's problems at one time!

    ReplyDelete
  171. AT&T -- if becomes available in your area check it out.

I have a faster internet service now than I ever did with Cahrter and I can do things with my TV like check my call log, later, check email and DVR 4 channels at once.

Also, I can watch any of the shows I have DVR'd from any TV in the house. I can only record and delete from one but they said soon I'll be able to DVR from all TVs.

Check it out somewhere -- Its called AT&T U-verse. The guy who we bought it from said just about everyone in Meadowbrook signed up and one guy got it for his home in ATlanta but had no idea it was available there.

And as far as my calls, I've called D&B for years now & really respect those guy compared to F'Baum.

dangit. Not available in Bham yet.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I love panic...been to over 100 shows since 1999...herring is tha man.

    ReplyDelete
  174. 100+ shows?
    Explains a lot Nooj!

    I kid, I kid.

    ReplyDelete
  175. I have seen panic too many times. Looking at around 125 shows or so from 96-2002. Lost too many brain cells.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Nooj - I'm in the 35242 Meadowbrook section of Shelby Co.

Its beginning to expand. I highly recommend and am finding MANY MANY peeps who dislike Charter.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Chris,
No AT&T in my section of the 'burbs either. They will notify me when it is available.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Anonymous1:08 PM

Chris, when you said Meadowbrook, I wondered...wonder how come it's not available in Pelham...

    ReplyDelete
  179. Widespread shows are interesting. That is the only place where frat boys and hippies live in harmony. The world could learn a lot at a Widespread Panic show.

    ReplyDelete
  180. so true micheal...the world could learn alot from a panic crowd...like how to get to the front without pissing everyone off on the way.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Speaking of that, did anyone read where a drunken police officer urinated on a fan at a Metallica concert the other night?

    ReplyDelete
  182. Been to 92 shows myself. Wanted to go to Red Rocks, went to halloween shows in the big easy instead. That week after was a rough one for work.

Btw, Jimmy Herring is a legend.

    ReplyDelete
  183. I'm just glad Herring is finally getting his due. From the Aquarium Rescue Unit to his short stay in the Allman Brothers he's always been great.

    ReplyDelete
  184. A Widespread set on RockBand would be awesome!

    ReplyDelete

First time poster here. Loving the HABOTN so much am thinking I need to check into rehab.

Have decided to worry about our OL, since our new OL coach has been so MIA that I almost forgot we hired one. Does anyone know what Grimes (or anyone) is doing as far as recruting for the OL?

    ReplyDelete
  187. Herring is a legend...btw, i was sooo pissed panic went to denver this year for new years...broke my 6 year streak of seein em in atl for new years as i couldnt make it to denver...therefore that coupled with the iron bowl 6 endin...its fair to say i despise the number 7 ...or is it 6 i should dislike?

    ReplyDelete
  188. It would be hard to play a WP set on Rock Band while you're dancing like you're having a seizure

    ReplyDelete
  189. Y do i seem young?...monica doesnt mind my age!...do u mon. j/k
