Eguae says 'yes way'

TUESDAY MORNING
Post No. 1,004

Hey everyone. As some of you learned last night, Texas DE Nosa Eguae (pronounced "E-gway") has committed to the Auburn Tigers. He was the second defensive prospect to make that decision on Monday; tackle Jamar Travis also decided Tracy Rocker would be an ideal mentor.

Eguae is classified as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com.

I have no idea how he'll perform on the field, but Eguae is an impressive fellow. You wouldn't think he's in high school. Aside from be physically developed, Eguae is remarkably precise and focused with the things he says.

I wonder if Eguae's decision will affect WR Emory Blake, who visited Auburn along with Eguae two weeks ago. Blake also is from Texas (Austin) and was considering the same three schoos: Colorado, Texas Tech and Auburn.

Also, I just found out the other day (from a sharp-eyed HOTTIES) that Blake is the son of former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jeff Blake. Emory Blake is named after his grandfather, who played college ball at Bethune-Cookman and coached high-school ball at Seminole High in Sanford, Fla.

Surely a third-generation college player is a rarity.

  3. HA HA Nice, Jay G.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Quit sucking up, Tim.

    And good morning hotties.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I won't do it ever again.

    Temptation was just too much!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Touché Jay. So far that puts us up to 21 commits. Now just need 4 studs to round out this ever growing class.

  7. JG is just that ballin

    Good morning, michael.

  9. I believe that it's about time to move Monica to ROF.

    Jay G,
How do you rank our Recruiting Class.

Better or worse than you thought We would do?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Anonymous9:25 AM

Eddie, I suggested that a few weeks ago when Jay G was updating the list.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I always really liked Tubberville and was super disappointed when he left. In retrospect, though, I don't think he was a proficient recruiter.

This staff goes after guys with vigor, which the kids respond to. When these guys are able to get off the starting block with everyone else - look out!!!

    War Friggin' Eagle

    ReplyDelete
  13. Eguae on the tackle. Eguae on the sack, 15 yard loss. Fumble recovery by Eguae. I can dig it. :)

Good morning to the Hottie Nation.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Eddie: Influencing the judges only works when you send Yuengling.

We are in need of some RoF inductions. I need to speak with the Hall about this.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I wonder if the staff will have to pull some offers to make room for some of the upper echelon prospects?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Since idle promises are the order du jour, I promise to NEVER call Reuben Randle a "teazzzze" again ... IF he actually commits to AU.

Bring on the guys with more interesting (and less redundant) names: Emory Blake and Aubrey Phillips!

    ReplyDelete
  17. scottie b - nice reception pics

    ReplyDelete
  18. I second your sentiment Comm'r. I don't think Randle has any "love" for Auburn. I also don't want to put up with his father for 3 years.

    Come home Blake.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Chizik has gone in a different direction than anything Tuberville would have attempted.

Atchison is the only recruit Chizik has lost that I consider a big deal. Some people think LaDarius Perkins was a big loss, but does Auburn really need another scatback with PPL and LaVoyd James and (probably) Anthony Gulley and (possibly) Demond Washington in the mix?

I really like Eguae. I like Travis. So, yeah, I think the Tigers are somewhat better off right now than they would have been with Tuberville.

You just had to be Numero Uno....!!!

Well you are our fearless leader!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Eddie,
    Slow your roll.....
the BOH (Board of HOTTIES) has to meet to confer ROF stardom on HOTTIES....

Name dropping and sucking up is definitely encouraged though!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jay, you think Atchison is out of the running with Auburn, even with his visit last weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  23. When I think of Emory, I think of former pistol packin' mayors.

Which we could use at wide receiver.

A shutdown cover corner isn't nearly as effective when you pull out a Glock and tell him to back off.

    ReplyDelete
  24. If you post the thread, and have the first response ... isn't that like Ziemba jumping the snap?

Not like that's ever happened before.

    Just sayin'.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Jay G.
for what it's worth i got tired of the old staff's company line "We take 3 stars and coach'em up"!!!!
This new staff is swinging for the freakn fences and hopefully some of their balls get out of the park!

    Go Chizzle!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jet!
I spit up my coffee on the Pistol Packing WR comment!!!

For some reason I had "Longest Yard" come in mind!

    Pretty Funny!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Not nearly as humorous as our ex-mayor during his salad days of fighting fires, and patrolling the sideline of Cramton Bowl on Friday nights with his gun, and his police chief in tow.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Emory; riding on the trash trucks, responding to emergency calls with his pearl handled .45. THAT was a mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  29. thanks GATiger. having Aubie at a wedding reception was friggin' AUsome.

Jet, that is one sweet tee your bear is a 'rockin!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Maybe they will not only hit their balls out of the park but maybe Saban's also.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That's an incredible avatar, Jet.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anonymous9:47 AM

I would LOVE to see that tiger!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't think Atchison is going to switch back to Auburn, but I'm pretty new to the 2008-09 recruiting scene ...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Scottie B ... extra thanks to Mrs. Jet for serving as photog. You can't really see it, but he's wearing my glasses, which are extra stretched this a.m.

My take on Atchison ... 1 of 2 things. a) he's interested in us again in a big way; b) he's not interested at all, but has been sent in as a decoy so the Turds can say he chose UAT over Auburn despite the "mo" we've gained.

    I'm thinking "b," but I hope I'm wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  35. By my cakulashuns... Bull and Fairley and probably O-Mac can count towards last years class. So, even though our total is at 21, we only count 18 to this class. So there should be room for 7 more. Right?
What's the status on Gulley lately? They making him wait to announce until after they get a chance to sell early PT to Randle, Blake, and Kelly?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'll say it anyway ... the bear was Turbo Prop's birthday gift when he turned 1 ... usually sits in the corner of his room.

He usually wears a Lawyer Tillman jersey.

Mrs. Jet cried when I came downstairs with him last night because it reminds her that he'll be leaving the house in a few months.

Good times. Sad times. War Eagle.

    ReplyDelete
  37. GATiger missed the buy early opportunity on the HABOTN shirts. How do I get one now?

Good times. Bad times. You know I've had my share...

    ReplyDelete
  38. This is pretty lame, but what would be everyone's crutin' wishlist (within reason)?

Ok, I'll go first: Emory Blake, Aubrey Phillips, Oku, T. Patrick, and Greg Reid (although Patrick and Reid are closer to fantasy than reality).

    ReplyDelete
  39. Jet, put some pants on that massive bear! His ... Seams ... Yeah, his seams are showing.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think that recruiting is ahead of where it would be if Tubbs was still in charge. I think it's way ahead for next year as long as this staff continues on this same path...

Hey Jay, any word on filling the last coaching spots? Candidates

    ReplyDelete
  41. Miller ... are you saying you can see his sugar lumps?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I want Big Julius Campbell (the second coming of Jay Ratliff), The Rev (I see him as a corner), and if we have one left over, the Louie, the big fat white guy as our version of Mt. Cody.

I hope Ray, the racist, no-blocking TE signs with UAT.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Centre, no word.

These coaches are pretty much shut off from the media right now.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It was No Pants Monday at the Hangar.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I can't figure out Patrick. I hear such varied reports.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Jet:

What about this for possibility (c) on Atchison: Lil Nicky sent him over to try and STEAL more AU recruits for the infidels (in other words, more JWs)? An even more sinister possibility than (b), I think, but one perfectly consistent with Saban's MO.

Great sentiments about your bear avitar. My kids are much younger but I'll be a slobbering pool of waste on the ground when it's their departure time (Mrs. Comm'r and I are that way now when they leave for sleepovers - how pathetic!).

    ReplyDelete
  47. Jet...Nice Last Boy Scout homage.

My recruiting list is simple. Kids who wanna play and wanna play now. What was the kid who played D a few years ago and had to work at Subway too? That's the kind of dedication and determination I want to see.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Comm'r ...

I thought about that ... but I presume anything that has the stench of West Vance is being watched closely. Very closely.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Who else is Dr. Saban monitoring at Auburn these days?

    ReplyDelete
  50. As an aside, I wonder if Malpractice Moore has found one of the custodians down the hall to coach the basketball team next year.

It's just me ... but I kinda hope they hire Bob Knight.

    ReplyDelete
  51. he needs to monitor tracy rocker's blood pressure and glucose levels

    ReplyDelete
  52. Jay, Finebaum said yesterday that Saban had a part in having Gottfried fired because the atmosphere at BB games was bad for football recruiting. Does this mean that Lebo should be sucking up to Chizik?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Dang...Then you throw in Rememeber the Titans? Goosebumps man. I think we can pull Ronnie Bass away from some of the west coast schools.

"We will be perfect in every aspect of the game. You drop a pass, you run a mile. You miss a blocking assignment, you run a mile. You fumble the football, and i will break my foot off in your John Brown hind parts and then you will run a mile. Perfection. Let's go to work."

    ReplyDelete
  54. Leave him alone, Harrison.

He's got bad glands. Or at least set him up with some insulin and Lotrel.

    You can make this happen.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Let $aban do what he must.... I still say he will be at Notre Dame Next year..

    ReplyDelete
  56. I LOVE SNOW DAYS!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous10:08 AM

Now that is what I would call SWEET, Dear Leader. That would make me SO HAPPY!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Just as long as we don't sign Footsteps Falco. He's an idiot.

    What a horrible movie.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Dear Leader, if Saban goes to ND will he make them replace "touchdown Jesus" with "touchdown Nick"?

    ReplyDelete
  60. We should sign Gus..that donkey that kicks field goals

    ReplyDelete
  61. Nice one Harrison. Lil' Nicky could use Tracy's pants as a tent for him and his entire lil clan (I'm assuming here that someone with NS's Napoleanic on 'Roids complex would not marry a woman taller than he is).

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yes Dear Leader, He could serve as the coach and the mascot

    ReplyDelete
  63. No, Harrison.

He'd probably walk-on, which would be fine until he quits when Chiz says, "We're not giving that jackass a scholarship."

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yeah, Harrison! Leave Rocker alone! He may have perfectly normal BP and insulin levels.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Jet, that was priceless.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Wow - Wouldn't Knight and Saban on the same faculty be fun!

    ReplyDelete
  67. jet, he's a funny boy.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I could generate some serious Bama Hate for the two Dark Knights.

I could throw a chair on to the floor for Bob, and a high chair for Nicky.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Wish list? (No particular order and fluid list)
    [Decent Chance]
    Emory Blake - WR
    Taikwon Paige - CB
    Aubrey Phillips - OT
    [Wishful Longshots]
    David Oku - RB
    Kendall Kelly - WR
    Tana Patrick - LB
    Jonathon Atchison - LB
    Greg Reid - CB
    Greg King - LB
    [Pipe Dreams]
    Rueben Randle - WR
    Bryce Brown -)

If we end up closing out with any 5 from this list then the coaches would have done a masterful job with this class, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  70. we need molly mcgrath to coach DBs

    ReplyDelete
  71. MillerT ... if 5 will make you call them masterful ... I think they get it done.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Saban has spies everywhere. There is an old hunchback of Saban's that lives in the sewers of Auburn. The two of them communicate via pigeons with notes attached to their legs.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Jet,
I didn't want to burden them with unrealistic expectations for this year. Next year will be the big test to see just how good this group is on the recruiting trail.
Add Tyrik Rollison to my list (since its not officially official yet) and gimme 6 (Gulley as the 7th to round out the class).
I think that would be a pretty dang strong finish.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Molly Ringwald to coach DBs.

    ReplyDelete
  75. MillerT ... I think we get the first three ... and two of the next batch (one of the Gregs, and one other) and Gulley. Rollison, probably.

    ReplyDelete
  76. One of the recent notes tied to the pidgeon's leg WAS Saban

    ReplyDelete
  77. .....When my woman left home
    With a brown eyed man,
Well, I still dont seem to care.

Lawyer Tillman, I loved that guy as a kid. My wife has a LT jersey she occasionally wears on gamedays.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Tillman = cojones de piedras

    A clutch dude.

    ReplyDelete
  81. ScottieB ... you got any extra smalls for GaTiger ... he's of Sabanesque build and attitude.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Non-Auburn Related- My company just won 2 big construction jobs in West Virginia and that is awesome and keeps us busy for most of this year. A big sigh of relief to me with the way things have been and will be.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Congrats Eddie! I know you're the one who did made that deal happen. I hope they appreciate you.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Congrats, Eduardo.

I'm out for a while ... heading to the Capitol to beg the Gov for a reprieve from execution.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Does anyone know if Johnny Utah has gotten back into the coaching scene? I know he tried his hand at law enforcement for a while after getting injured in college. From what I recall he was a heck of a QB in college, maybe we could bring him in to work with QBs.

Harrison, do you have anything on Johnny Utah, I know you used to follow his career.

    ReplyDelete
  86. As a side note. I am shedding eyelashes at an alarming rate this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  87. You sure that's not a silas daniels jersey?

Tillman actually was the reason I cussed for the first time. After the end around, I looked at a bammer who had been giving us hell the whole game at legion and I said 'in your face A-holer'. Thoght my parents were gonna kill me but they were way too happy for that, basically tellin me to never do that again unless its at a refneck bammer during the iron bowl.

    I was 6.

Thank you for not seeing the timeout refs and thank you Lawyer.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Jay I think WR Cameron Kenney is a bigger lose than Atchinson just because that position is in dire straits with little help coming from this class. At least we have 4 other LBs committed so far.

Miller good list! Although It wont hurt my feelings if neither Atchinson or Randle come to AU at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I remember watchin lawyer tillman pull down a td pass right in front of our endzone seats at the sugar bowl against syracuse. Good times. Oh, and has everyone seen the sugarlumps video from the latest flight of the concords. It's up there with "business time", check it out and ROTFL.

Man, i love when my saturday is tuesday and the weather is like this, flippin beautiful on the coast right now. War damn eguae!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Eddie, there's tons of guys on the coast here that are losing money on contracts just to have work for everyone. I'd sit tight and stop the bleeding but one guy says if you do that you can be ready to start your company up from scratch labor wise when ya get ready to go back to work. Congrats on the bid cause it's a hard profession to be profiting on right now.

  93. Will-Didn't Johnny Utah whip bama in the Sugar Bowl

    ReplyDelete
  94. Congrats Eddie,
I was informed last week that I had tow Proposal accepted for A/E work and i was like YEAH!!! Plus started work on a 3 year Construction project this week....keeps the bills paid, Momma happy and kids with shoes on their feet.

So now i don't have to stand next to the Grandmas with the "Blue Rinse" hairdoo asking customers "Serve You"

    I'm stimulated as hell!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  95. I almost forgot about DeAngelo Benton. Add him to the longshot wish list as well.

Has anyone seen the LSU blog stating that Benton was escorted from campus on Saturday and didn't stay but 1 day b/c he was telling everyone how much better LSU was than AU?
JGT, is there any truth to this seemingly far fetched theory? I think its all a ploy to try and dissuade Randle from visiting.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Hi, Hotties, from Hamburg, Germany. Is there an award for most distance traveled for a post (like at a reunion)? Good job on bringing in two DL's. I think I should just stay away and let you guys finish this class.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Maybe Benton was just nervous.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I find guessing where we would be under Tuberville kind of pointless and backward looking. It is what it is.

This class could end up being decent if they land a few more high profile recruits, but you really never know until down the road.

It is kind of like getting a job. You ain't got the job until you get the first paycheck. Recruits don't count until they are on the field and have played a couple of seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  99. dnatl has posted from some crazy places. I think he posted from multiple continents over the span of a couple of days. Wasn't that dnatl? I think it was.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Thanks All.

Now, maybe I can spend more time on whats important, HABOTN :).

    ReplyDelete
  101. Rollison pulled the trigger....

    Committed to Auburn!!!! Hell Yes!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Let the Domino's Start Falling now!!!

    ReplyDelete
  103. My boy tyrick....woooooo...We may actually have a QB ..if he makes it in

    ReplyDelete
  104. I'm off to the beach for a dog walk and some kayak'n. Might even take my rod n reel. Wish me luck, i'll post pics if i catch anything worth it. Yall have a good day, and thanks for all the blawgin jay, i don't believe jack unless i read it on the HABOTN. Lata, hotties.

    ReplyDelete
  105. In other news, the coach who let his team win 100-0 was fired for not apologizing. Look at what he said:

"We played the game as it was meant to be played. My values and my beliefs would not allow me to run up the score on any opponent, and it will not allow me to apologize for a wide-margin victory when my girls played with honor and integrity."

I think of Jay's old "Oh Rly?" avatar when I heard that line about not running it up on an opponent.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I really don't see how that relates to the BC coaching situation. Discuss?

    ReplyDelete
  107. Like I said......

    GAME ON!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. good point, gatiger. I think the BC coaching situation was really interesting. Should one be allowed to look elsewhere and not be fired? Will BC ever get a top notch coach with rules like that? Or, as Mr Sensible might say, is it a great development in college football that will hopefully lead to more loyalty in the college ranks?

And we haven't even touched on how this relates to the James Willis situation.

    ReplyDelete
  109. worse than all those is the coach being charged with reckless homicide after a player collapsed and died at practice

    ReplyDelete
  110. When a person refuses to let a subordinate drink water and they die as a result, don't you think that person might get in a little bit of legal trouble?

But what does this have to do with the BC coaching job?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Harrison, true. Absolutely true. Now you just ruined my attempts at humor. This could take me Virtually minutes for the humor mode to reset.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I was able to bounce back in 3 minutes. On the internets, the bounce back time is much faster than in real life, gatiger.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Well thank goodness Al Gore invented the intertubes. He wasn't a total oxygen thief I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Yeah, that was not meant to ruin the good times...it's just ridiculous.
    I too bounce back quickly

    ReplyDelete
  115. Now that Tyrik Rollison's commitment has travelled past his Facebook page, will this help us reel in at least one of those high profile WR recruits, like K. Kelly?

I'd prefer KK over R-the-"teazze"-R, but would like them ALL (and Blake) for the Malzahn machine, thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Yeah, other than the time I killed a drifter and the time we hired Chizik, I have always bounced back quickly at HABOTN.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Jay we now have 6 QBs on scholarship for next year what do we do with all of them?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Riskman, one is pretty much unplayable, the other has never had any real playing time, another is a freshman coming off of a redshirt and these two may end up on a redshirt, heck Rollison may not qualify.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Riskman- We are inventing a new offense, the two quarterback system. Guarenteed to strike fear in all who try to defend it. To compensate for the extra QB, we will reduce down to 4 lineman.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Eddie, you so funny. :/

yes, an outrageous play-making WR would be very, very nice.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I like the idea of signing two QBs. This offense will allow the QB to take a beating. We will need depth there.

Also, I wouldn't expect Rollison to play this season.

Aren't Todd and Caudle both seniors? At most I can see only one of them playing.

Burns and Trotter will be interesting. I could see Burns earning a lot of bench time or playing in special situations. Trotter will likely get a good look at QB.

    ReplyDelete
