Florida v. Oklahoma

Many of us are watching the BCS national championship game live from Miami, Fla., this evening. The game is being broadcast on Fox.

This is the final event of the 2008 college football season.

michael said...: This was a very confusing game for me to watch. I hate Florida, but every time they made good plays it validated my conference, so I would cheer on the inside. michael said...: I don't think Tim Tebow is "faggoty," there is probably a 99.3% chance he is skraight, not that I care. I don't like how cocky he comes across. Not exactly the meek will inherit the earth type stuff. I like the way Colt McCoy carries himself on the field. Polar opposite.

I probably wouldn't care if I myself wasn't a Christian, but I would rather see him caught drinking at a party than talking trash to a man while he's down. And this is definitely not the first time, he has talked trash quite a few times on the field. I wouldn't care if he didn't make himself Mr Ambassador for wholesomeness. A lot of people look up to him, so everything he does carries a lot of weight.

michael said...: Urban Meyer is Steve Spurrier without the southern charm. Cocky, runs the score up, etc. He seems like an awesome guy away from the field to his players, though, so I will give him that. Still easy to hate when you are watching them play.

And BC should have agreed to keep their coach under the condition that if he did not get the Jets job and stayed, he would have to be the AD's butler for 3 months.

The announcing: I'm glad the BCS is going away from Fox. It's pretty sad when the 5 biggest games of the year are being broadcast by people who haven't broadcasted or even watched college football since the same games last year.; 6:12 AM

It's bad enough for the announcers to lose track of the down, but where was someone -- anyone -- in the truck paying close enough attention to what was on the screen -- the blasted down marker that said 3rd down ... and their own graphics that said 3rd down ... until they changed them to the incorrect down.

I'm not for monopolies, and ESPN drives me up a freakin' wall, but I'm ready to issue an order that says ... ESPN covers everything in sports with the following exception ... CBS covers the Masters. And Johnny Miller gets to cover the U.S. Open wherever he's employed.; 6:23 AM

mytommyd said...: From what I've been told, Fox does NASCAR well. From what I've watched they do pro football well. Last night's "broadcast team" .......SUCKED, with a capital SUH. And oddly enough I was a little concerned when they had troubles talking to each other at the very beginning of the friggin game.

By the way, if I were a fan of the ACC I would let everyone I know understand why the ACC is down. Evidently the officials don't watch the game either.

On another note, ATL morning sports talk radio has a USC homer saying that the wrong two teams played in the BCS championship. I don't know why i didn't change the station, but traffic was light so I didn't have to listen to him spew that much.

By the way I am an SEC homer, and enjoyed the game, even though I was busy like you all trying to correct the broadcast crews mistakes, and didn't realize that Tebow was being pushed to be the President after the next 4 terms, but all the sugary gushing was a bit much. Although I would LOVE to have him on our side.

I can't hardly listen to 780 The Zone - I don't like any of their on air talent. Am forced to during lunch as they are the only locals going. If you are outside the perimeter in the early morning or late evening, you can't pick them up anyway. They must broadcast with a CB radio. From 1:00 on I like 680 The Fan. Agreed about the announcer comments. They were aweful. I tried to stay off of the Tebow bandwagon for a long time but we wore me down. His passion and competitiveness is just too appealing. He does have a charmed life but what can you do but play the hand you're dealt.

Recruiting updates anyone? How hard is it to sell AU to a 5-star recruit that almost never heard of us? Did Tubs stop trying to recruit the big timers because he got lazy or because it proved to be a waste of time? Just asking. We really need the 5-stars but they dont seem to reach their potential on the Plains these days.; 8:52 AM

Two of their five worst moments were Auburn related - the Mississippi State game (ugly game 3-2) and Barkley's charge of racism.
