By the way, staying with Tuberville didn't mean settling for one SEC title every ten years. As his record indicated, Tuberville was gradually improving the Auburn program. The Franklin Experience didn't change that. An SEC title this season or next would have meant an SEC title every 5 or 6 years. Another SEC title after that would have made the numbers even better. The once in 10 years argument seems silly unless you think the program wasn't improving under Tuberville, and the record says otherwise. Look at how the average number of wins have gradually increased. I know this season caused a blip, but we were trending up in wins, not down.
Hey Zteve...I'm completely cool with playing for some SEC titles. Can't win all the time...I get it. Would love to be at the Dome 3 or 4 times in 10 years.
Someone is going to rise up every so often and dominate for 3 or 4 years and most think it can't be done until someone does. That's one of the great things about this country...can't and won't are constantly proven wrong by dreams and hard work.
I'm curious why the beat down on high aspirations?
War Bald Eagle!
I am bored. When are we hiring another coach? Shouldn't the hire of the day be announced any minute now?
What's the next chip to fall? OL? DL? DB?
I have the same high aspirations. We just disagree on how to get there. We are basically starting from scratch with a new staff. To me, that was ridiculous. We lost a lot of coaching talent. Roof may prove to be a good DC, but Rhoads was one of the best in the nation. Change for changes sack does not necessarily mean improvement. It is what kept Bama down for around a quarter of a century.
You know what I want this year? I want our guys to look like they have a friggin clue. Those are the aspirations I have for this year. Once they look like they aren't running around aimlessly, I'm going to have to believe we'll compete for the division and SEC championship.
OK Zteve...you win.
I'm with TommyD.
I am hoping our next hire will be the OL coach.
D. Miller - I figure that's why Jay hasn't created a new thread and we're now over 400 comments. He must be working on something.
I'm with you tommyd
Can we not teach chopping in the new O-line coaching system?
Tommy, I am with you. This season wouldn't have bothered me if we looked prepared and were just getting beat by better teams. We did have a tough schedule, but the losses to Vandy and Arkansas were too much for me. Even the wins against MSU and UT looked pathetic.
Zteve - I have a flat spot on my forehead from banging it on the coffee table during the 3-2 win. Yeah, that was the WIN over MSU.
I still have heartburn relapses because of that 3-2 WIN.
As a matter of fact, I didn't even know what a TUMS was until that night.
Not only has J-G not started up a new thread... Has he even been heard from today?
A 3-2 win is alot better than a 2-3 loss. I'll never complain about that one, nor the UT game, nor the other couple of games we won. I agree about the Vandy and Arky games though...FRUSTRATING.
He's been acting strange lately. Changing his avatar, not willing to expand on the ESPN business, and then letting us go over 400. Crazy days. Must be the whole new direction of the bald z power group.
Oh Will don't get me wrong, a 3-2 win, as odd, horribly frustrating and mind numbing to think about again as it is, is SOOOOO much better than a 2-3 loss. I get a little too wrapped up in the games.
I agree, if we had lost that game 2-3 I would have needed a lot more than a TUMS.
Changing subject a little. How many guys are going to be drafted into the NFL? I ask because I'm still looking around the net to see if anyone is even mentioning Jerraud. Hopefully he will do very well at the combine and start getting some attention.
Looking at next yr's schedule, any early predictions? I told a buddy I thought we'd win at least 7 games, what about you folks? We were in every game we played except 2, and had a legit shot to beat Vandy and Arky. Outside chance at beating LSU, Ole Miss, and UGA. I think we'll improve on both sides of the ball, especially offensively. I'm not expecting the 600 yds and 45 ppg, but I think we'll be better than the Ensminger system.
Anyway thoughts on our record next yr?

7 +/-2 sounds about right

"I think we'll be better than the Ensminger system. "
Will, there was NO system. CSE was just trying to keep the wheels from coming completely off the bus. He was using parts of at least 4 playbooks none of which were his own. I give him credit for at least making it competitive in the UGA game.
It's way, way early for this, but here are my two cents as of today:
9/5: West Virginia - Win (they lose a lot)
9/12: Mississippi State - Win (new staff, less talent)
9/19: Kentucky (Win, but close)
9/26: Ball State - Win
10/3: @Tennessee - Loss
10/10: @Arkansas - Loss
10/17: Southern Miss - Win
10/24: @LSU - Loss
10/31: Ole Miss - Loss
11/7: Furman - Win (why are we playing these guys?)
11/14: @Georgia -Win (if no Stafford or Moreno)
11/28: Alabama - Loss
7-5
CSE did not do much to keep the game close it was the players not wanted to lose to GA they played hard the play calling was not very good.
Has anything exciting happened? had Dre, Bryce, Reuben, et al committed to Auburn yet?
Hey HOTTIES.
I'm up at Auburn. I was holding off on starting a new thread in the hope that I'd have some news to share.
Sadly, there is none.
So I'll start a new thread anyway.
he is back
miztertommyd,
every body knows the BZPG runs the H.A.B.O.T.N.
Hell Yeah we Run this!!!!
My guess for next season is about 8 wins. Ole Miss and LSU will probably beat us pretty bad. Bama will be tough. UGA and Arkansas will also. I consider a winning season a successful year next season. Anything more than 7 wins is great. Anything more than 9 wins would be incredible.
