Monday chatter

Hey everyone. Thanks for tuning in Sunday. We had a great day in terms of traffic and it's clear that chasing down recruits on Sunday morning is worthwhile to the HOTTIES.

To paraphrase Brandon Moore: If you're comfortable, I'm comfortable.

I provided the newspaper-style information yesterday. Here are my bloggish insights ... coming from someone who doesn't follow recruiting most of the time.

  • John Sullen, OL from Auburn High: Very pleasant, easy-going fellow. He smiles a lot. He was very excited to have gotten his Auburn offer last week and was equally geeked about telling Gene Chizik of his plan to join the Tigers. Sullen's parents were cheery and nice. I like the whole family.

  • Anthony Gulley, WR from Brantley: Very country. I initially was surprised to see Gulley paired up with Ryan Pugh and Lee Ziemba last weekend. Then I met Gulley. He's very country. Shy kid, very quiet. He really likes baseball, too, and seems eager to play both football and baseball at Auburn. He's a shortstop by trade. Gulley also can play centerfield.

  • Nosa Eguae, DE from suburban Dallas/Ft. Worth: I was really intrigued with this kid. He's the opposite of shy, but he's not a jabberer. He's a confident fellow. My guess is that he will sign with Auburn. Eguae (pronounced "E-gway") committed to Colorado at one point. He later de-committed. He seemed to feel remorseful about doing that, which may explain why he didn't commit to Auburn this weekend. Dee Ford, an Auburn commitment, told reporters that Eguae had committed. It's clear that Eguae was talking about it during the weekend. Ultimately, Eguay left for Texas without making a firm decision.

  • Emory Blake, WR from Austin, Texas: Reminded me of Kodi Burns, who was Blake's player host. Blake is a calm guy, very calculating with his words. He is just now warming to the Auburn idea after narrowing his initial list to Texas Tech and Colorado. My guess is that he won't sign with Auburn, but he's at least interested. Blake is all business.

  • Brandon Moore, DL from Montgomery: It's clear that he left the Athletic Complex with plans to be diplomatic around reporters. That didn't last long. He basically trashed Auburn for not having a full coaching staff -- Auburn has more coaches than Alabama right now -- and did little to dispel speculation that he'll be choosing between Florida and Alabama. He wants to play defense, though many schools see him as an offensive lineman. He looks like an OT to me.

I'll complete the weekend roll call later.

Jay G Tate, thanks for all the info on recruits. I don't get my info anywhere else.

    ReplyDelete
  3. it must have been, cause I didn't understand it.

EXCELLENT reporting, btw. Succinct (2 c's no k) yet complete. Can you go have a sit down in the Gump with BM and put him on the right path?

I really like what you've said about Gulley, Sullen, and Blake. I'd love for us to get all 3 of them.

  4. Rusty....

I can imagine some of the coaches popping in DVD during these visits, showing Dinky down on his knees spitting and screaming at the Jackson kid during the Sugar Bowl...with the heading priceless.

JGT great work, I would like your new found insight on the staff and how you feel they will compete going forward. I have said this year was an uphill battle.

Mister Tate, I just want to say what an honor it is to read your blog. And your work in Office Space and the Brady Bunch Movies was Top Notch!

  7. Jay,
I thought the same thing about Moore! He should have just keep his mouth shut before he knew the full story!!!

  13. Jay G, super content this weekend. I didn't have time to read the comments, but it was nice to distract myself reading everything you did on my phone. Did I say how fantastic everything here is?

I have to admit, things are coming together a lot better than I thought they would. I would like for CGC to talk to Bill Clark about the Def. Secondary coaching position. He is the former Prattville head coach that left last year to be the D. C. at South Alabama. They haven't played a game yet. I think he would listen to an offer from Auburn and I know that he is a great motivator as well as a great coach.

    atlanta...

sometimes you recruit a kid even if you can't get him to make inroads at that particular school for next year. That may be why they offered Moore an official visit.

Tarheel....that's a long trip to Monroe...

Sounds like Shula's fifteen hour marathon at the Tebow house the day before he announced for the Gators. What was he thinking? They only were rumored to have a gator head mailbox! LOL!

  20. Excellent job on the recruiting info Jay G. Love the info!

  21. Jay, good work here.

I was unable top stop by the site this weekend, but I did go to the b-ball game. Was it just me or did UAT look defeated the entire game. They had no fight whatsoever. I guess some of it had to do with R. Steele being out, but they looked HORRIBLE.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It sounds like Moore needs to move along. I would also wonder about his host and the job they did. He seems to have gotten an incorrect impression.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous1:05 PM

    Will...

You hit the nail on the head. And it is going to get worse. Rumor on alot of Alabama boards is that Steele is done for the year...again.

    Gottfried is toast.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think FSJ and I would agree that some if not all recruiting is built on perception. You have to look like your successful (going after nig name recurits) in order to get others to look your way.

I think most all coaches knew the two kids bama signed last year that went the baseball route were going that way and backed off. By getting them to committ with bama, it raised them in the standings with Rivals, which increased their perception of cleaning up in recruting. And just like Berney Madoff, if you are perceived to be a winner, others will want to join you.

    It's all in the marketing.

  26. I'm too lazy to look. Are we recruiting someone out of Greenville, MS?
Plane went from AU to Greenville (on ground only 16 min-drop someone off?) to Monroe for very brief stop, back to Greenville, and scheduled to go back to Monroe.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I was a the game this weekend. bama had too much one on one stuff going one. I agree it was probably due to Steele not playing. but they should have someone that could step up. J. Green fouls way too much. Gee is trying to improve his NBA lot.

If Steele has pantar fascitis, he is out for the season.

    wtc...

I agree with you. Perception is reality to a degree. All schools have kids that don't get in for one reason or another...and some that were never going to get in. Yet they sign them anyway.

Where I think Tuberville and his staff were making a big mistake was in Gadsden. They had just about given up on Dre and Kendall Kelly. You don't quit recruiting them even if you have little shot. The reason? There's a stud DB in the junior ranks at the school. You build relationships and show that you are interested because it pays off in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  32. We will fight them in Gadsden, in Mobile, in Scottsboro, in Birmingham.

We will fight them wherever they are.

And we will be victorious because ultimately good triumphs over evil.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I like the way Malzahn is using Moseley to help recruit. I'm happy Gus is visiting Rubeun Randle today. NEVER GIVE UP! RELENTLESS.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I may be wrong, but I think Clint Moseley is going to be a pleasant surprise to some of you who aren't to high on him. He reminds me of Chad Pennington and y'all know I love him. He's a good kid, smart, head on straight, strong family support, mature and very grateful.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Jet- I love it when you go all Churhchill on us. Gets me all excited and ready to kick some bama butt, with the exception of our noble Hottie, FSJ.

    ReplyDelete
  36. "We will fight them in Gadsden, in Mobile, in Scottsboro, in Birmingham, and then all the way to the White House! BYYAAAHHHHH!!!!"

Heck, I don't know, but I will still wear my Birkenstocks!!!

  40. Ok, I went and searched the database. Looks like AU visited our former committment LaDarius Perkins today.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous1:38 PM

Plus, Bill Clark would be great for recruiting the Prattville and Montgomery area recruits for Auburn. He still has his connections there. Jack

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yea -- LaDarius Perkins is in Greenville.

I initially thought this new staff wasn't all that high on Perkins, but either ...

    a.) I was mistaken.

    b.) That opinion has changed.

    They're after him now.

    ReplyDelete
  43. or

    c.) All of the above
    d.) None of the above
    e) both a and d

    ReplyDelete
  44. Bill Clark has been too busy funneling all of Prattville's good recruits to Bama over the last several years. Besides, until he coaches his first down of college ball, he's still a hs coach in my book.

    ReplyDelete
  45. In general I am against giving high school coaches a position on the staff at Auburn. Go coach at Troy or UNA first. Then give us a call.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Your OC was hired directly out of high-school ball.

Not by Auburn, mind you, but Malzahn clearly was ready for the SEC at that point.

    ReplyDelete
  47. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I saw some video of Ladarius (sp?) Perkins. He looked like a heck of a RB. I was disappointed to hear he changed his mind.

I agree w/ most of the comments about Moseley. I think he is excited about Auburn and proud to be going to college in his home state for free with a chance to play SEC football. If he continues to work hard and improve, I like his chances.

FSJ, at the game on Sat. there was a small group of Tide fans. One of them stood up about halfway through the 2nd and tried to start a FI-RE GOTT-FRIED chant. It was pretty funny.

    ReplyDelete
  49. THT, 1 squirrel down, 1 moose to go.

Malzahn's body of work after hs is what intrigues me. Let Clark get a few years under his belt and then come talk to AU if he ever gets over his Bama love.

    ReplyDelete
  50. The Perkins thing may have to do with: we're a spread team, no wait - we're smash mouth, no - just kidding we're really a spread team. I understand he's a great fit for the spread, and perhaps we backed off when CGC was talking smash mouth, but Gus wants him. Pure speculation.

  52. ESPN has a video and evaluation of Moseley. His size will jump out at you. He's not playing with kids of similar size or talent, but despite what Scott Kennedy said - he shows a lot of athleticism. Jury's out until he plays with kids of equal talent and size, but he appears to be a good QB prospect.

  55. Myles Wade - lineman from OREGON by way of ARIZONA is coming to AUBURN for a visit. That's peculiar. What does he think we are, Tennessee? Just kidding. I think it is AUsome that we have interest from afar. I'd rather be a Tiger than a duck or beaver anyday. (No, that is not an invitation for innuendo)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Man, Charles from Reeltown is awesome! He is cracking me up on Fbaum.

    ReplyDelete
  57. This from the ESPN evaluation of Moseley:

"When comparing him against fellow in-state QB AJ McCarron, Moseley is a better athlete..."

McCarron is Bama's **** QB commitment.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anonymous2:24 PM

    astatguy...

So are we to assume all the schools offering McCarron and not Mosely are idiots?

    ReplyDelete
  59. I don't understand all the rules so someone shed some light here.
We've got 20 commits, 3 of whom are already signed and enrolled. They don't count towards the 2009 limit of 25. So that leaves us with 17. Reportedly, Tyler Knight will go to Juco. IF that is true, we're down to 16, which means we still have room for 9 more committs?

    ReplyDelete
  60. I was unimpressed with McCarron in the All Star game. I have to say that Moseley has yet to leave me with that same unimpressed feeling. Of course, I have never seen Moseley live or in moving pictures.

Didn't St. Pauls play against B. Trotter in the ST Champ game during Trotter's Sr year?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Jerry Faust was hired by Notre Dame directly from a high school. Somehow I don't want him coaching at Auburn either. Let Auburn take coaches with experience.

    ReplyDelete
  62. FSJ, where did he say anything like that. Simply looking at the brightside of Moseley, hes more athletic. The article also said that McCarron was more polished.

    ReplyDelete
  63. FSJ could be kinda like the girl that hasn't had much interest from the male suitors. One comes a callin and shows some interest. Not long before several guys are calling her and knocking on her door. Afraid they may be missing out.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yes, and trotter sucked it up that game.

I've seen McCarron play a good bit, and i don't understand the hype. He was good as a sophomore, but didn't really get much better in my opinion. I think alot of his ranking has to do with the team he was on last year. He had good stats, but most of it was throwing bombs to Destin Hood and Mark Barron (who will be a stud). This year he didn't do so well when those guys were gone.

    ReplyDelete
  65. ballin, I used that philospohy in HS. Only most of the 2 stars I went after ended up being highly overrated.

I learned very early that trying to upgrade at 1:45 AM is a dangerous proposition...

    lol.

    ReplyDelete
  68. No FSJ, upgrading at 1:45 am is aggressive! Takes guts.

    ReplyDelete
  69. You guys are all just such studs! Those girls were lucky to get you at any time of day or night.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anonymous2:45 PM

    michael...

Of course at 1:45 AM are you really upgrading?

    ReplyDelete
  71. FSJ, absolutely not. I'd take McCarron in a heartbeat. I think he's a lot like Moseley, good upside, but technique work and physical development needed before he's ready for the SEC. Moseley is actually 1/2 inch taller and 15 pounds heavier. They both need a biscuit or two.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Anonymous2:49 PM

    Thanks astat...

    I misunderstood.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Gus Malzahn seems to be going after the hottest girl in the bar right before it closes. We all know that that's a big waste of time.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Anonymous2:54 PM

    ron..

Some times the Hail Mary works out...

Most of the time you just end up at the Waffle House wondering what might have been.

    ReplyDelete
  75. McCarron and Moseley are both studs on the baseball field as well, It will be interesting this spring to see what they do.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Anonymous2:54 PM

Pat Dye hired Joe Whit straight out of Lee High School in Montgomery and he was not even a head football coach, just an assistant. He was their head wrestling coach however. He turned out to be a darn good coach for Auburn. By the way, Clark did not funnel the kids from Prattville to UAT. They mostly were Bama fans to start with and we got out recruited on a couple of them. We do have Justin Albert, albeit he is a walk on. He finished up in Prattville during Clark's last year. Clark is a young full of fire coach just like the ones we have already hired. I think that he would be a good fit. I think that one day he will be a head coach at a major program. You have got to get started somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  77. ron, I have been wondering the same thing. We will see coming signing day. If they pick up none of these high profile recruits, they made a mistake.

You go after the prettiest girl in the bar early and supply lots of alcohol. It is called an investment that may pay returns later on.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Sometimes you gotta just go for it. Even if you don't think you are worthy. You never know unless you ask (maybe even be persistent).

    ReplyDelete
  79. Forget the alcohol Steve. We ain't lookin for a one night stand.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Anonymous2:58 PM

Yes, and if Clark was coaching at Auburn, I would look for him to change which school he was helping to recruit for. Jack

    ReplyDelete

    That's right ballin...

You have to be persisistent...Relentless even.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Are we even talking about football anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  83. This chick/recruit pursuing metaphor is starting to get confusing. Are we still talking about both? Who? Wha?

Someone mentioned hanging out by yourself at Waffle House. Back in high school, there was an old lady at Waffle House with the nametag "Big Sexy" who worked in the wee hours. Maybe Auburn could try her. And you don't need alcohol, just syrup. I think the syrup probably represents an assistant coach's visit in the metaphor.

    ReplyDelete
  84. FSJ - I wasn't saying that I believed the vicious rumor that I was spreading last night about bammer getting into ncaa jail. I was just reporting what I had heard, and even gave the source. The fast food guy told the potato chip guy, and the potato chip guy told me. I wouldn't slit my wrists just yet. :)

On the other hand, if saban could get bammer on 3 yrs probation and then leave town for another NFL gig, well, I wouldn't want anymore birthday or Christmas presents for several years. That would suffice. ;)

Of course, I'm joking. It would look bad for the sec for a member school to get put on probation, and I would hate to see that happen.

    Well, maybe not.

I can't tell whether I'm joking or not. Sometimes I get like this.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Yes we are talking about recruiting. If you think you aren't good enough to have the best, then you never will.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Anonymous3:04 PM

    Zookeeper..I have no idea.

    ReplyDelete
  87. ballin, good to know some of the hotties don't have a fear of rejection....you never know what could happen if you don't play the game...or even show up to it.

    ReplyDelete
  88. "Big Sexy"????? HAHAHAHAHA
Michael - You've always had an affinity for the Jan Terri's of the world haven't you?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Get turned down by 20 tens, but get accepted by one. MAN!!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Anonymous3:07 PM

I realize that sometimes walls are put in your way during intense recruiting efforts. You must be relentless and break down those walls.

Or else you end up with 1 stars when you could have reeled in a five star.

And michael...I think we may frequent the same Waffle Houses...

    ReplyDelete
  91. Yeah I suppose at some point if you get rejected enough others will not even bother checking you out. You definitely have to be choosy about the "tens" you go after.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Yeah, it was a sad day when my friends and I went to Waffle House and they said Big Sexy had quit/been fired. Never knew the whole situation with that. I guess to continue the metaphor, that would be like when Auburn pursues a one star recruit and they choose UT Martin over us. Except Big Sexy was probably dead in a ditch. So I guess it is more like We pursue a one star recruit who chooses to go to a community college to focus on playing the clarinet. Maybe?

    ReplyDelete
  93. fsj... are you saying we should be relentless and break into recruits houses and rape...err... force them to sign with us?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Anonymous3:10 PM

...another plan that works is to just hang out until after last call. there's guaranteed to be a girl on the phone, with no ride, yelling at her friend who left with the cool guy.

Ok..after this conversation about recruiting...bars...upgrading.....I'm thirsty.

  96. Mchaiela, faker is a bama fan ya know. They do things a little differently at UAT.

    ReplyDelete

What's the word on us losing out on Cameron Kenny? He looked like he could step right in and contribute.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Anonymous3:12 PM

    Of course not michael....

However, do not give up when the recruit freaks out on you the first time....

    ReplyDelete
  99. Anon, so is that like waiting til right before signing day to offer a scholership? Or are we really not talking about football anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Apparently we didn't pay enough attention to Cameron Kenney at teh bar, someone else started buying him drinks, and before we knew it looked like he was going home with someone else. We debated on whether or not to try to coax him with some syrup, but we saw it had no effect on Big Sexy, so we gave up. Now he is choosing between a rock star and a CEO to go home with.

And darnit zookeeper, there is just one "a" in my name!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Anonymous3:15 PM

    michael..

zoo keeper is using the French spelling of michael.

    ReplyDelete
  102. It's good to talk with the recruit first to make sure they will be cool with the things you plan on trying later on. You know, like Malzahn's offense and stuff. You don't want them to freak out and leave.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Come to think of it. Those 10's are too high maintenance. Let's just continue to stick with the 7's and 8's.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Yeah, 10's are way too much maintenance. I am glad we didn't have to deal with Julio Jones' crap this year.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Ron Mexico (I love your moniker by the way), I saw that all-star game Trotter played in - Alabama vs Mississippi. Phewwwww! I think he may have thrown 5 interceptions, but it could have only been 4. And they were all ugly - not great defensive plays, just poorly thrown balls. I hear lots of people saying he should start next year, but he scares me to death.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Anonymous3:17 PM

    Yes michael..

The recruits don't need to be surprised...

Of course I've heard that Dubose used to drive recruits out to rural Greene County and tell them to commit or get out...

    ReplyDelete
  107. Well Julio will be playing for his uncle Jerry after next yr.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Sorry, Mechiela. Only one "a"

    ReplyDelete
  109. Unless I am mistaken on the rules, Julio must be three years removed from high school, meaning there are two more years of Julio's crap Alabama has to deal with.

    ReplyDelete
  110. It's OK Kristina. I know it is hard to spell with that Aubie head you wear. Don't you ever take that thing off?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Anonymous3:22 PM

    She needs to michael..

That thing scares the Shula out of me.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Anonymous3:23 PM

By the way, speaking of Julio Jones, Bill Clark is the one that devised the scheme that totally shut Julio down two years in a row during the state playoffs when Prattville played Foley. I said after watching those two games that I was glad that the evil empire got him. Somebody taught him how to take it when he is getting the hell knocked out of him on every play about the time he steps off of the line of scrimmage.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Ok I am heading back to the lovliest village from the Gump. I will look for a better avatar when I get home if Mihcelalh will put a head back on Jan Terri.

    ReplyDelete
  114. In line with what I said earlier, I hope zookeeper warned Mr zookeeper before things got too serious about how much she was going to wear an Aubie head. That man is probably getting some weird feelings he can't explain when he sees Aubie leading cheers on the sideline.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Definitely sounds like we bought Kenney some booze early in the night, and had done everything but gotten the keys out to drive home, when a prettier recruit walked in the door, we left Kenney alone, he got lonely, and is now going home with someone else.

Now we may end up with neither Kenney or the prettier girl.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I thought it was two years out of high school...

    ReplyDelete
  117. She has a head darnit! It is the head of trooper taylor! Man, I really screwed up on this one. Back to the drawing board.

  119. If you'll recall, Mike Williams was a sofmore (better, wakerider?) when he tried to sue to get eligibility. You could also be like Larry Fitzgerald and leave after two years but have attended a military school for a year prior to college.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Micheal, you know I was thinking sophmore, but I think I like yours even better.

Mike Williams really got screwed in that deal.

    ReplyDelete
  121. If recruiting is like picking up chicks, then Tennessee is set -- making note of Lane Kiffin's recruiting ability.

    ReplyDelete
  122. 3 years removed from high school is the rule. You could work right along "Big Sexy" for three years and go pro depending on your syrup intake.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Jay or any Hotties....

Do you have a comment on this piece?

    Guilbeau

It seems like open cheerleading for LSU to me. I know the Bamaham media gets accused of it for Alabama, but I don't recall anything like this.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I hate the way the word "yacht" is spelled. I think it should be yot. But I bet if I could afford a yacht, I would appreciate the spelling.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Cameron Kenney situation is kinda like all your friends tell you a girl is hot and you meet her in a dark bar and are trying to seal the deal...

She steps into the light and you make up an excuse to leave the bar hoping she forgets your number.

    ReplyDelete
  126. So maybe Big Sexy is playing pro football now. Maybe she didn't graduate high school until she was 60 and she had to wait before going pro.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Ron, so are we the guy or girl in your situation?

    ReplyDelete
  128. we are the not so attractive guy at this point

    ReplyDelete

The plane is about to leave Monroe, LA for Austin, TX. Somebody is out and about hopefully taking care of business.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Wow guys. Been reading your comments about Cameron Kenney. I see where our new coaches didn't even pursue him. Whaaa? so i guess we are going after those guys that have to choose between us and Memphis. UGA and Oklahoma put on a full court press for this guy, but we aren't interested? Sometimes I wonder.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Anybody listening to F-baum. What a bammer homer. They are slamming Lance Thompson because they found out he is getting divorced. So, therefore, he was a cheating ho who was spending to much time running around looking for girlfriends, so Saban must've told him to hit the road. Didn't want him anyhow.

    ReplyDelete
  132. my thoughts on that sponge...

the old staff obviously was good at selecting wide receivers. So I am going to trust the new staff's opinion on kenney.

    ReplyDelete
  133. On one hand, I agree with you Ron. On the other, Georgia and Oklahoma obviously know something about receivers. At this point, I'll go with their proven track record rather than our unproven group.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Lance Thompson's wife's friend called and put a BEAT DOWN on Finebaum.
    Beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Will-
I don't like people with "ough" in their name. Is is up like hiccough, oooo like through, oh like though, uff like tough, off/awf like cough, aw-ish like thought. I never know how to pronounce those names.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Actually, the people are just fine, it's their names I don't like.

    ReplyDelete
  137. F-baum is going to replay the phone call. Might want to log on to F-baum website to hear the beat down.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Cameron Kenney, as has been explained to me, is a guy who has a broad base of skills ... but none of them are outstanding.

He's pretty fast. He has pretty good hands. He's a pretty good punter.

I guess that's not what Chizik and Co. want.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Cameron Kennedy sounds like me. Maybe I AM Cameron Kennedy.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Any new information on Petey Smith and where he stands on Auburn?

    ReplyDelete
  141. I think it's more like where Auburn stands with him.

I'm not 100% sure Auburn is pursuing him at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I'm not 100% sure Alabama is pursuing him at this point, either.

    ReplyDelete
  143. What's changed? Auburn has been high on him for some time. Is there somrthing in his background that could cause this change of direction?

    ReplyDelete
  144. FSJ,

Just read Guilbeau's article... that's ridiculous. He might be in the wrong profession of being a reporter instead of a lobbyist.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Guilbeau is a friend of mine, so I may have a bias there.

Still, I didn't find the story over the top. Alabama alreayd has a star WR in Julio Jones; LSU does not.

    ReplyDelete
  146. noone should be named "petey". that's just wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Jay - There is theme music that plays in my head each time I see your new avatar. I didn't know the title of the music, but I finally remembered something. It's the same music that goes with my favorite viral clip ever.

    Jay's Theme Music

  148. In am AL article, Moseley said that 20 people had already added him as a friend on facebook. That wouldnt be 20 Hotties would it? Monica are you one of the 20? :)

  150. The Cameron Kenney thing is really puzzling me. When did we get to the point were we are turning 4* WRs away? I thought we wanted tall, fast WRs, with good hands?

    ReplyDelete
  151. Jay any candidates for the db's coach. I really like the idea of Roof kinda floating between all positions and not coaching one specific position. Seems like a smart move to me, he can get a better grasp on personnel that way.

    ReplyDelete
  152. No BigCat - I've been on there for about a month. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  153. My bad Monica, I forgot that Hotties dont follow trends, we set trends!!

    ReplyDelete
  154. HA Now you've got it, B!

    ReplyDelete
  155. Okay, I'm just getting caught up again. This has been an extremely entertaining thread to read.

Some very important points to mention in reply to some of your posts:
Jet - if recruiting is as you say likened to picking up girls; well, then, I got nothing on either topic really. I enjoy reading about recruiting and I kind of like living vicariously through a particular single friend (frat brother of yours by extension) and hearing of his exploits with the ladies. If I tried any of that, I'd be in serious trouble at the homestead.

Omnica - excellent theme music video.

Omnica Part Deux - avoids the rush and "friends" people early.

That's some incredible insight I just offered up for you. No charge.

JGT...nice personal info provided in the "bloggish insights".

The Recruiting Metaphor was great reading......classic HABOTN.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I'm so lost... I get busy for a day or so, and miss all kinda of stuff.

What is with the talk of Bill Clark? Is he our new DB coach?

    ReplyDelete
  158. JGT,
Thanks for all the 'crutin updates and bloggish style reports. It's the only way I can keep up, and frankly it's the best run down of info I've found...

I try not to get hung up on what a 17/18 year old kid does... but what they do affect Auburn football, and that in turn affects me. So... yeah... anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  159. I will say this on the recruiting/dating comparison. Sometimes the hot chick gets left behind and the party moves on without her, just assuming she's on board. That's when the minor league talent comes in and woos her. A little attention at the right moment can go a long way. Does it get you invited back to her place that night? Not always. Does it open a door and give her a warm fuzzy about you and maybe wanting to get to know you better? Definitely. And then you send Trooper Taylor in to lay the smack down, get the party started and get her back to your place.

The Kicker on a Stick logo should be available for viewing tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  160. OK folks... do I watch House, or Big Bang Theory?

    ReplyDelete
  161. my kids are getting ready to watch House. I think I'll go stand outside in the rain. Oh wait, HOCKEY is on. Have no idea who's playing, but who cares.

    ReplyDelete
  162. I went with House.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Kicker on a Stick logo is like a DB coach ... we've been waiting on it so long we really don't believe it will ever show up.

    ReplyDelete

I'm embarassed to say that wifey has got me hooked on Big Bang.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Actually, Big Bang Theory is really funny.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Hoopie, we need to go to a meeting for that ...

    I'm Hoopie.

    Hi, Hoopie.

    I watch Big Bang Theory.

    I'm Jet.

    Hi, Jet.

    I watch Big Bang Theory.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Big Bang Theory is funny... and Kaley Cuoco is HAWT!

    ReplyDelete

  173. I knew someone would go with the big bang joke. I'm so proud that I resisted. Thanks JZ for taking up the slack.

Yes, Hoopie, Sheldon cracks me UP!

    ReplyDelete
  174. Awesome recruiting coverage this weekend, thanks for all the updates Jay.

I'm not a fan of The Big Bang Theory, but How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half men are hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Two and a Half Men is dee freakin licious. I've been a fan for a while now.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Koonz seems to be a favorite of Chizik. I don't know anything about him but he followed Chizik from Auburn to Texas to Iowa State.

Big bang for my family solid choice.
House kinda getting old to me.

  178. Jay GT-
We are approaching 200 and the discussion has deteriorated to TV talk. And since it's not Monk, Heroes, or Chuck, I'm bored. Any chance of a new thread this evening.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Never watched the CBS comedy lineup. I like 30 Rock, The Office, And Scrubs for my comedy needs.

I kind of want to watch Big Bang Theory. I hear it is pretty funny. One day.

I guess that would make the Big Bang Theory the recruit in Montana who is perfect for our system, but we just never got around to recruiting him hard.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Tar - Your grumpiness has become chronic. Get over it.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Any time Mon. Any time.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Chuck has been pretty good this year, hasn't it TarHeel? We can talk Chuck.

    ReplyDelete

  186. Since Tim hates Gossip Girl, I am assuming one of the regulars just went underground as "anonymous" to express their love for that show.

So now it's like a mystery... which regular likes Gossip Girl but won't admit it with their true identity? My money is on FSJ.

    ReplyDelete
  187. Mon- I was chuckling to myself as I typed it, so I don't think it was grumpy.

Michael-don't you enjoy the mindless entertainment of Chuck, without the overbearing immaturity of those other sitcoms?

    ReplyDelete
  188. My wife is addicted to biggest loser.
We are watching a tivo'ed one now.
I think I just saw Terrance Cody.

    ReplyDelete
  191. Tar - Don't you know to ignore me by now?
