Rollison picks Les Tigres
TUESDAY NOONISH
Post No. 1,005
Hey everyone. Our friends at AuburnSports.com are reporting that QB Tyrik Rollison of eastern Texas has committed to play for the Auburn Tigers next season. As we all know, Rollison is a highly rated quarterback who throws fairly well and runs very well.
There are questions about Rollison's academic status, though, so keep that in mind. Still, this is an important addition to a recruiting class that has been significantly upgraded since 12/3/08.
COMPLETELY UNRELATED NOTE: John Updike, one of the best writers ever, has died of lung cancer in Boston. He was 76.
He was the man behind The Best Baseball Essay Ever Written, "Hub Fans Bid Kid Adieu" in 1960. It's about Ted Williams' final at-bat. It was a home run.

Jay G was I suppose to wait for you to start?
#3, Al Del Greco.
I had to win once.
Now that I've earned that achievement, I'll yield the floor.
Rollison is a big-time addition for Auburn ... in my opinion.
Riskman had a good question on the previous thread.
How many scholarship quarterbacks does Auburn need?
Assuming Rollison and Moseley qualify, that means the Tigers will have six quarterbacks in 2009.
Burns
C. Todd
Caudle
Trotter
Moseley
Rollison
ANSWER: I have no idea.
Rollison = Dennis Dixon? Not sure, but that is my guess.
Has anyone heard whether we have a realistic shot of getting WR K.Kelley in addition to Blake3?
Rollison's ACT was the equivalent of getting his name mostly right and drawing a christmas tree with the dots. I'm not sure if I'd save him that dorm room just yet
Great pick-up!! Wow 5 scholly QBs on the roster. Spring and Summer should be interesting.
When is the last time we have we gone out of our comfort zone to land big time guys or have them visit?
This coaching staff deserves props and I hope this is sign of things to come in the future. This is why I believe change was needed at Auburn, and hopefully it will continue.
JGT as many as it takes.
good catch, if he can qualify.
Kendall Kelley ... Auburn has only an outside shot. Maybe 15%?
Blake ... more like 50%.
Rumor has it the sextuplet QB option is referred to in the playbook as the "Dumbass"
15
Man I missed one! 6 scholly QBs!! Any bets on who leaves 1st?
Shameless repost from previous thread.
I like the idea of signing two QBs. This offense will allow the QB to take a beating. We will need depth there.
Also, I wouldn't expect Rollison to play this season.
Aren't Todd and Caudle both seniors? At most I can see only one of them playing.
Burns and Trotter will be interesting. I could see Burns earning a lot of bench time or playing in special situations. Trotter will likely get a good look at QB.
Todd and Caudle don't count.
Les Tigres makes it sound like Rollison picked Les Miles Tigers instead of the Auburn University Tigers....
Keep up the good work Jay!!!
I'm definitely pumped about the direction they're taking. Maybe he Rollison doesn't qualify, maybe, maybe. Whatever. I like that the staff is putting forth the effort which seemed to be severely lacking over the last few years. I look forward to taking my 2 y/o future ***** to A-day this year.
RE Rollison and ACT score of 13:
Score: 13
Nat'l Percentages: 11 02 09 07 05
(English Mathematics Reading Science Composite)www.actstudent.org/scores/norms1.html
[insert suicidally depressed emoticon here]
If Todd is healthy, I think he would be the most likely starter, with Trotter the wildcard.
Hey Hey, I heard he's taken it again and made a 15...that's less ground to make up.
maybe that company Bryce Brown is signed up with can coach up Tyrik's ACT. Monica, can you make a referral?
double digits in english commish...solid
Any way you slice it, I'd rather have a guy that scored a 13 pick us than turn us down. Gotta be something positive there. His stats are freakishly good, ACT score nonwithstanding of course. WDE!
An ACT score of 15 catapults the student to these impressive nat'l average peaks: %15 21 13 18 12 1. Yikes.
Fortunately, those percentages are more than triple the odds of Chris Todd ever throwing another wobbly and deflated pass for Auburn.
Sorry Zteve, but statistics don't lie, and neither does Tony Franklin.
Yea, statistics say Todd was better than Kodi. Like I said, if his arm is healthy, he is the likely starter.
Rollison is listed as a commit on rivals.
Todd has an incredibly small chance of playing a meaningful down again. His arm would have to do some Wolverine-like healing.
Harrison: Double digits in English is impressive and elevates the student from the "dumbass" to "merely catatonic" plane of existence. According to the official site for Tulsa Athletics, however, one must attain the "just plain dull" level to undersand 20% of the Gustav M. playbook.
i'm gonna buy a lotto ticket using those numbers.
Pay attention to the teams Todd put those stats up against, stevefc.
How about a new version of the "Wild Whatever"? Put 2 qb's back there, one a running threat and one a passer...Keep those defenses on their toes.
Oh wait...Tony Franklin doesn't work here any more.
Re: 6 scholarship QBs. . .can anyone here name (without resorting to Googliciousness) all the scholarshipped QBs on the AU Spring 2000 roster? (hint: there were 5 that year)
Frankly I think the staff is not counting on Rollison until 2011 at the earliest. . .doesn't sound like him qualifying is any more than the longest of long shots.
Still, it never hurts to try. . ..
commish: that's some fancy wordin'.
I guess double digits in english means he can explain to his JUCO coach to please get him through school so he can go to Auburn
From what I have read about Todd's injury, the surgery is pretty much a crap shoot. It may work and it may not.
The QB that I think is totally off the radar is Caudle, which is a shame. He was a highly rated recruit, but he has too little experience for someone that has been around as long as he has.
Trotter and Burns I view as wildcards. Trotter wasn't nearly as highly rated as the others. Can Malzahn coach up Burns to the point where he will be able to execute this offense? I don't know.
Harrison... great lines on the ACT score... i was rolling...
Todd is Toast
Burns is a Rec. (or bench)
Caudle needs a new set of knees...
I think the coaches have a big hurdle with Bastrop coach Brad Bradshaw. Read the paragraph titled, Benton visits Auburn.
http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/38437669.html?index=14&c=y
j-z, you are talking about the a11 offense, which is interesting.
I would like to know where Caudle and Trotter stand. Do either fit into our current scheme? I will be anxious to see the new coaches evaluations of the QBs.
Does Todd still go to school here?
Tar - That is EXACTLY what I was going to post. HA Potential Players is the name. He just needs Brian Butler has his "mentor".
cough
Yes, one of those was LSU. Todd has the knowledge and experience to run the offense. If his arm is average, he is the likely starter unless Malzahn does a great job of coaching up Burns.
Harrison: That's right, but only with a team of JC tutors.
No tutors necessary, however, if the preferred SEC team is Ole Miss and the student's grandmother tells the NCAA that "_____ is a nice boy, he just can't read."
Kathy, I don't know why Mr. Bradshaw would think that his phone call would make a difference to the AUBURN coaching staff. I mean I don't know the man but that seems naive. He must be a huge LSU fan.
I have to agree with ZteveFC...
His arm might have been crap but he had good game management
where Kodi has an arm but ZERO management and in some play ZERO clue...
I have had students make similar ACT scores and doubt that he will succeed at a four year college without "help".
ehyoutiger, I think Caudle is probably completely out of the picture. He has little experience and won't be around much longer. My guess would be two of these three will play: Todd, Trotter, Burns.
My father-in-law made in the single digits on the ACT, and he is a highly successful architect.
Just throwing that out there in case Tyrik is reading this blog and needs some encouragement after finding out what those auburn ni.....ce people have to offer.
Hopefully the kid can qualify..
Auburn certainly could use help at the position.
Good pickup nonetheless.
It's been a long, long time since I've seen a head line that even smelled like this one; "AU lands nation's No. 2 dual-threat QB" (per Rivals)
That makes me smile.
The thing with this offense it that decision making is the key, and pre-snap reads. Because the QB is in the shotgun, he has to rely more on the pre-snap read rather than reacting at the snap of the ball because he has to concentrate on catching the ball. The QB has to react quickly. If Malzahn can coach up Burns, he could be very impressive. He showed potential in a few games, but a lot of times he just didn't look comfortable with the offense.
Seanz, I believe our coaches are there now putting on the full court press whether Coach Bradshaw likes it or not. Also, he was talking to the LA paper, so I could see where he would tell them what they wanted to hear.
I haven't been this excited since we landed the number 5 quarterback in all the land according to scout.... one Kodi Burns!
I graduated with a lot of people with single digit ACT scores. Back when I took the ACT I didn't know what the numbers meant. When I saw my score I thought it was a disaster. I only took it once my senior year and was out partying the night before. I got a 25, which I assumed was out of 100. I was convinced I was a retard. Then I heard some of the other scores in the class and discovered I went to school with some, ummm, blue color workers.
Michael - I bet you steal lollipops from little girls too dontcha...
michael, you kill me sometimes. too funny.
If I am not mistaken, Jason Campbell was also the number 2 QB in the nation coming out of highschool.
I don't steal them, I just throw them in the dirt and step on them. You see, it's not about makign me happy, it's about making everyone unhappy.
I'm not giving up on my boy Kodi Burns yet. I think with some actual quarterback coaching he will be fine
Scottie B - you have to see the video of my babies I just posted on FB.
That HS coach needs to have a lil talk with the NCAA infractions committee...
Exactly what business is it of his where Benton goes?
Isht like that is what ticks me off sometimes...
Mon...fire up the HOTmobile and come get me. We apparently need to pay a little visit to one Coach Bradshaw... Now...where did I leave my needle nose pliers, fence charger and waterboard?
Bastrop, LA Coach Brad Bradshaw: “I called Auburn and told them to leave him alone,” the coach said. “They obviously didn’t listen to me.”
At their extreme peril, right BB???
Looks like someone decided to pull the "dumbass" redshirt off him and bump him up to full blown delusional imbecile.
JZ, JZ, JZ...
We don't need no stinkin' torture. I have powers.
Kodi could end up very good. I think we screwed up playing him 2 years ago. He has potential, but kind of got thrown into the fire. That damages a QBs confidence. We made the same mistake with Jason Campbell. Fortunately he recovered. Hopefully Kodi will too.
Mon... correct me if I'm wrong... is one of your pups a border collie?
If so, very good looking pup...
(we're border collie folks)...
I wonder how much LSU is paying Coach Bradshaw to deliver.
"Looks like someone decided to pull the "dumbass" redshirt off him and bump him up to full blown delusional imbecile."
I nominate this for front page material! Kudos Comm-SW!
Right Zteve, very Campbell-like. Cobb was the Chris Todd of that duo.
I bet he gets a larger salary from LSU than he does from the HS he coaches at...
Thanks Miller - Roxy is mostly Border Collie (so said our Auburn University educated Vet here in Huntington). We adopted her from a Humane Society in Louisa, KY. She's a gorgeous girl. Wicked smart with a smidgen of anxiety. She walks backwards on our hardwood floors sometimes when she's feel a little extra short bus. We love Border Collies and I LOOOOVE my Roxy.
Harrison: You're preachin' it today, brother. Kodi redemption project circa 2009!
slow days at work are good for bloggin' for Harrison
I believe with the right coaching...Kodi is going to surprise quite a few people this year. This type of wide open offense and a better running game that's not always east/west will take some of the pressure off. I look for big things out of him this year.
Mon...the torture was more for my benefit.
Back to work. Later!
AUAnt, I agree. I think Kodi has the potential to be better than Campbell, with the right coaching.
Luv, you think Burns has the chops to be a starter in The League?
I don't think he'll be better than Campbell. He's a little short at 6'1" to have the same success as Campbell. I think he'll be good with some coaching, but Campbell was lightning in a bottle.
Thanks Miller. Gonna be a "productive" day after all.
SeanZ, maybe not in the NFL, but possibly at Auburn. The NFL is a whole different ballgame.
Yea, Campbell has it all. He had height and could run too. He was a load. Kodi may be the better runner, but I don't view him as an NFL style QB. Campbell had the ideal qualities you want in a QB.
j-z, what do you mean by "lightning"?
Wow, actual quarterback competition...holy smokes where am I?
Actually, who the QB will be isn't nearly as important as our development of some receivers. We have the most talented crappy receivers in the SEC. We need Troop to coach them up and have that talent show up on Saturdays. Cox, Burns, and Todd were all dealing with a team without much in terms of receivers. Take Rod Smith out of the equation the last two years and we would have went from pathetic to non-existent.
Well it's hard to do much better than we did in 2004. So maybe equally as successful at Auburn is a more appropriate statement than "better."
Agree with Zteve agin here. I attribute a lot of quarterback poor play to nobody ever getting open and then dropping passes when they were open. vomit.
SeanZ, ok, maybe you're right. I'll go with "equally as successful."
I attribute every problem to Borges and Franklin, because now that they are gone these problems can be instantly fixed. Doesn't that make you all feel better?
Harrison, I have to agree. The play of our offensive line and our WRs would have made Peyton Manning look Busch League.
Luv, I'm glad you see it my way. ;) J/K wasn't trying to bust your chops, I'm just not that high on Burns and to say he could be better than Campbell is a curious statement to me.
In 2003 our receivers were much like they have been the last two seasons. In another forum someone was bashing Campbell because of all his incompletions. I told them to watch the next game carefully and count the number of dropped passes. Suddenly, the guys opinion of Campbell changed. One game I saw 6 outright drops. It can make a good QB look very bad.
You have a point there Steve...but as far as what could be done from the Alabama game til now...I like the direction. We have a guy in here that I beleive can develop these guys a little better than the past staff. I kinda view Burns as a Tebow type QB..he could be excellent in college, but I to don't believe he will project well into the pro game.
(amen Mike)
SeanZ, I just see a lot of potential there. He just hasn't any coaching worth a sh***
Luv, on that we agree.
About the coaching that is.
A little perspective.....According to Scout.com, AU had the #6 recruiting class in 2007 and those players are rising RsSo. and Jr now. Kodi Burns had a 5 star rating.
Kodi was the #5 overall rated Qb and the #2 dual-threat Qb. Kodi was better on paper than Tyrik.
Kodi's problem is that he hasn't mentally committed to proper throwing fundamentals. He utilizes them in practice and on routine plays, but when the play breaks down, he drops the fundamentals and throws sidearm or with his chest facing downfield or tries the "wrist flick"(only Brett Farve can do that successfully). Kodi improved his ability to see the field and check off by the end of the season. If the coaches can get him to truly change, he is still our best opportunity for next season. Keep in mind....Todd knew Franklin's system...He doesn't know Gus's.
Caudle would look great in practice...... until he singled out a WR and watched him until the entire D knew where the throw was going (see: Stan White). That tendancy is tuff to un-learn, especially for someone that hasn't been in a game in years.
another lollipop stealer - hrrmmphh
I'm still excited and y'all can't steal my joy!
Does anyone want to start a pool on who the next commit is going to be?
I heard you don't pay up, Sean...
just sayin
I wonder if any of the other 6 QBs can be on the field in other positions?
An even better idea -
"backup quarterback on a stick"
I'm tellin' ya ... leave the ACTs to me and my in-house standardized test taking specialist.
We got it.
To anyone who thinks Kodi Burns can be a receiver, I consider you delusional.
He's fast ... for a quarterback.
I also think Cmm'r of Silly Walks' quote was a good one.
How the hell do you talk about bama's bb coach for two hours??? Sweet lowered enough Josh and Doug!
Easy, Monica ... you just pull the string.
Monica, because it's Bama.
Pardon, Jet? I'm not familiar with your Gumpisms.
In re QBs ...
My prediction ... Todd is gone by mid-August ... Caudle leaves too, either during the season to play baseball, or transfers before season to play for a FCS team.
AU fans tend to develop unrealistic expectations for the "new guy". Kodi Burns should have not played in 2007, but a whole bunch of rivals/ESPN type fans thought he was the answer and the coaches caved in to the crowd. Kodi still wsn't ready last season, but we ddin't have any choice. Now...with another coach and spring training, Kodi has a chance to put it all togethert. Meanwhile the AU/Rivals fans think that a true freshman(with a 13 on his ACT)is going to step into the SEC and lead us out of the wilderness.
Let's be positive, just realistic.
Pull the string on the dolls and they talk. It's just a two-hour string to get through.
Considering our current crop of receivers...fast for a quarterback...might just work. No not thinking of Kodi, simply thinking outside the box. I've seen QBs as flankers, kick returners, athletes that want to be on the field.
I have been called a lot of things but delusional....
ok I have been called that too..
Hoopie how many AU fans do you think there are on the planet Earth?
DO not get me wrong... I hope for AU KODI proves me wrong big time...
I can only judge off what I have seen on the field.
In 2007, Hoopie, is it your opinion that Kodi played because Tuberville "caved in?"
Because if that's why he played him, then heavens to betsy, he should have been fired then and we would be messing with this nonsense today.
Hoopie = The Grinch Who Stole Recruiting
Monica, I never welch on a bet. Where do you get your information?
Sean - I just made it up.
Just found out that John Updike, great American essayist/author, has died.
I posted on the front a link to his best sports story. One could argue that it's anyone's best sports story.
making stuff up about people you don't know is fun.
Kodi played in '07 because people thought the problem was Cox, when in fact the problem was porous pass protection and poor receivers.
I agree with most of what Hoopie says though. It's kind of crazy to be this jazzed about a guy we will have to at best re-recruit in a year or two. Even if he did make it to school this year, I doubt Tyrik would be the guy.
Mon, my bad, I'll play along next time. Apologies for the buzzkill.
agreed Michael. No way he plays this year anyway. If someone else turns out to be good, i.e. Moseley, we lose him there. Assuming he squeaks by JUCO
Kodi played because "coaches" thought Cox was part of the problem. And the coaches that primarily thought that was Tuberville.
He got $5 million to be accountable for it ... let's not pass it off to folks who post on blogs and message boards. If he was that weak, then he needed to be gone.
Whether Tyrik plays a down at AU really isn't the issue right now ... we need positive mojo, and this is a healthy dose of it. It gives us cred with other recruits.
I've never considered myself Mr. Sunshine or Mr. Unreasonable. But maybe I am. But I just don't get the rush to take a Chiz Whiz on the campfire or something worse on our cookies.
Well said Jet, as I rather like the cookies.
Jay, I'm honored and humbled. Thank you for farting in my general direction.
I'm off to call Mrs. Silly and my ridiculous relatives.
Congrats on the headliner, Silly.
STANDING OVATION FOR JET!!!!
Chiz Whiz, that's funny.
Wow - listening to the guy on The Roundtable - I didn't realize the Women's BB Team did so much PR - speaking to kids at school, coming back out onto the court after games to sign autographs, etc.
That's so smart. Does Lebo do stuff like that?
Monica, Nell was an EXCELLENT hire.
Jet should be in charge of pre-game pep talks for AU. He is the William Wallace of the Auburn nation.
Speaking of Qb's and how they turn out, Stewart Mandel on Cnnsi had a great article on the qb class of 2005.
It went over the rankings of the top two types of qb's and what they have done to this point, it was quite interesting.
Should be noted our very own Chris Todd was #25 in his category. Ha, but yea most of the big time named never made it and many of the ones who did were lightly regarded coming out of highschool.
My prediction (hope I'm wrong) Rollison will never see the field at AU. Everyone who recruited him earlier this yr backed off b/c of grades. They will wait until next yr after a yr of JUCO (if his grades are rigth)to turn the recruting heat up. Don't get me wrong, I just think we'll be adding his name to the Enrique Davis, Charles Deas, Greg Smith, list of big commits that never contributed at AU.
PS...I HOPE I AM WRONG.
AU supposedly offered Daren Bates, a 2* DB from Miss. Apparently, he's the teammate of OL Aubrey Phillips. A package deal? Our coaches must want Phillips something fierce.
The men's team does a lot work in the community ... they've been at a weekly free throw clinic at the Auburn Rec Center. A team of 9-year-olds have been working with the Tigers in an attempt to increase their FT percentage.
LOL, Jet!
Tyrik's GPA is fine. He just needs to up his ACT. Sheesh. Relax already.
Maybe Tyrick can enroll in the socialogy classes
Josh and Doug - I won't listen to another 2 hour show on bamer basketball. I realize you don't care, but it made me feel better typing it.
What is "socialogy"?
'Preciate the buzzkill there Will.
In a totally unrelated note: The Wisconsin Supreme Court has ruled that Cheerleading is a contact sport (therefore its participants cannot be sued for accidentally causing injuries).
Really? Cheerleading a contact sport?
sociology..ha...my auburn education kicking in
Upping your ACT isn't like beating your high score at pac-man.
Bigger News: Hugh Hefner decided to cancel the Playboy Super Bowl Party due to the economy. :(
I think it will be a battle between Burns and Trotter. A battle that Kodi Burns will win and he will be much improved for it.
Moseley need to be spending time with trips to the buffet and the weight room. Caudle better be hitting the books, the construction industry will be picking back up in a few yrs and his building science degree come in hand. Chris Todd, I'm telling you he needs to kick extra points!
it was to me in high school and college...i tried to "make contact" with cheerleaders all the time
I hope Tyrik get sin, but if he doesn't atleast he'll pad the stats for this year's recruiting class and maybe help sway a WR or 2 our way. Either way it's a great add. Way to go Coaches. This guy can play ball, that's for sure... just comes down to can he make the grades??? I sure hope so! WDE!!!
Surely out of the 6 scholly'd QB's we'll have we can find one capable of leading the team.
Nor is it impossible. Raising it by 2 points isn't even that difficult.
Mon Hottie, that's the Wild Turkey typin' there.
OK, I just need all you people who are getting on my nerves with your old time Aubie defeatist posts to stop posting for one hour.
*bracing myself*
Hey, I get excited about recruiting, it's just that this one particular recruit has so many asterisks by it, I can't get too excited. It will be nice in the fact that it artificially improves our recruiting ranking (something the old staff also did). But maybe there was a reason his only other major offer was K State.
Maybe by celebrating the fact that he will be an Auburn Tiger, you are more than counting your chickens before they hatch, you are counting your chickens just because you heard about a friend who had a friend who was selling a hen who was looking to score.
Just saw Tyrik's highlights from the Army All-star game. Geez, that kid is tre good!!
On a completely unrelated note, I now realize the ACT is a flawed test that should be immmediately retired , and all 2009 ACT participants should be granted automatic eligibility by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
Like Quaker oats, it's the right thing to do.
updike was a fine writer. studs turkel died recently, he was great, too.
One of my first term papers ever was on John Updike. It was one of the best.
We didn't have to take the ACT in PA, just the SAT. I never even heard of it until I came down here. Mind you, that was over 20 years ago. Things may be different now.
MON....I'm too young to be labeled an old time Aubie! My thing is, I'm sold on and excited about the guys who are already here. I think we have some serious talent on both sides of the ball and I think we'll beat some folks next yr. We do have some weaknesses and question marks, but most of the SEC does next yr. I hope all of these guys come in a few yrs from now and take over the world one snap at a time, but I want to win now, and I think we can.
Will & Michael: Sure seemed like there were many "major" Div. I programs after Tyrik other than AU, so I'm not sure the "inevitable JC route" theory is well supported.
According to ESPN, he chose Auburn over "Kansas State, Kansas, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Florida State, Oregon, Oklahoma State, Baylor and Arizona, among others."
CHUG, CHUG, CHUG (sound of me taking a hefty sip of AU Kool Aid)
if you want to have your mind absolutely blown, try taking the gre. questions like "there are three rafts, karen wants to ride with todd. todd doesn't want to ride with bill. suzy will ride with anyone but wants to be in the 1st raft. who is riding in the 2nd raft with paul?"
Silly Walks...
Definitely not an inevitable route to JUCO for Rollison, just my opinion. Again, I hope I am wrong.
I presume I will look like Wilford Brimley in 20 years, so I've gotten a head start and have been eating Quaker Oats most days.
It is the right thing to do.
Jet...and as he says in those commercials "it can help you live a better life."
Yet another interesting anecdote to add to the "Auburn-ISU swap saliva" chronicles (no offenze C.Chiz):
Aaron Moore, OT
Former Auburn verbal set for Cyclones Offensive lineman Aaron Moore of Centennial (Frisco, Texas) has committed to Iowa State.
Originally pledged to Auburn, Moore's scholarship was pulled by the new coaching staff. He refused a grayshirt offer.
Among others, the 6-foot-5, 255-pound prospect was contacted by Baylor, TCU, UAB, Washington and Troy.
Will - I was defining posts, not people. Your Ty posts D-R-I-P "old time Aubie defeatist" in my evah so humble opinion.
I didn't know Caudle was a fellow Building Science'r. He just raised a couple notches in my book.
As long as you eat the long cooking and not the instant oats.
old time defeatist hotties are just as much hotties as the unrealistically optimistic hotties, and should never be told not to post.
Peter - You seem to be upset with or about me a lot lately. Do we need to step into the hall and talk?
This comment has been removed by the author.
cat fight
That's not all that drips from Will
Wilford Brimley has diabitis.
I am not a defeatist Hottie. I have an inferiority complex. It is very different.
Can't we all just get along (like Rodney King and the LAPD)??
[ducking as fists and animals fly]
Fetche la vaca!!!!!
Peter - I'm sorry if you felt bullied. It was a joke as I thought was indicated by the "bracing myself" comment at the end. I'll try to be more sensitive in the future.
Michael ... you need to join my 10-step program for those with Inferiority Complexes.
It works ... at least it's OK. It might not be as good as yours.
Wait a minute, it's the best. That's right, I said it. It's the best.
By the way, I think our coaches are doing an awesome job recruiting, I think they have put together a heckuva class. But I am more excited about Eguae and Travis than I am Tyrik, because they will almost certainly be Auburn Tigers next year. Tyrik reminds me a bit of a lineman who is committed to Miami now and a running back who played for Ole Miss last year.
Does anybody see Bryce Brown decomitting from U. of Miami now that they hired Mark Whipple as their new OC? I don't know much about Whipple, just that he was with the Philly Eagles.
Women's Basketball coaches poll is out.
AU is 4th. Behind an undefeated UConn team, a 2 loss Oklahoma team, and a 1 loss Baylor squad.
Stanford with 4 losses is ranked 8th while Florida with 2 losses (one of which was to AU) is ranked 16th!
Am I the only one that doesn't see any logic in these things?
Miller, basketball rankings don't mean jack. Our ladies will make the tourney and prove it all on the court. What a novel idea...
Remember when there were great arguments on the place of Auburn's prestige a few months ago? I remember getting into with people who thought we were a top 10 place to coach at, etc. Just fyi, ESPN.com listed us as #21, behind such programs as Arkansas, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech, and just in front of Ole Miss at #24.
Just thought I would ruffle some feathers since it is getting feisty in here.
Anyone see Cotton now going to Kansas State now that we have Rollison?
I think Bryce sticks with Miami when all is said and done. But, I'd love to get him in for a visit and have the chance to let Luper and Troop give him the sales pitch...
Maybe his brother really is that unhappy at UM and he's searching for somewhere else to go.
Taylor Jones is the Auburn student who organized the protestette in support of Coach Tubbs and was in some sort of altercation at a frat house that landed him in an ICU in Columbus, GA with swelling around the brain and other bad stuff. Anyway, he is home and doing very well. Coach Tubbs visited Taylor in the hospital and pretty much made Taylor's year. I thought that was a cool and good endingish to a scary story.
Somebody please tell me why I read ESPN's columns on Auburn. What a stupid thing to do.
They must hire people that are not Bammers. They certainly slurp USC and Texas enough.
Michael, you posted while I was reading. My feathers are quite ruffled without the provocation.
Monica, thanks for the update. I was curious as to his condition. I read today somewhere about a lawsuit. Violence is an ugly thing. Unless it involves Junior Rosegreen and Reggie Brown.
I love it when it gets chippy on HABOTN...
Good times.
MillerT ... you seek logic where there is none.
You seek answers when there are only more questions.
I wish you well, my son.
Michael ... I would have said I viewed Auburn as a top 15 job, but I will bump it to 16, which I think is a fair assessment.
In my opinion, Auburn gets to the top ten just because of all the good food options near campus. That's one thing I never ran out as a student, restaurant choices.
I thought all referees were bama refs?
Mon, they arrested the responsible party for that "altercation" this morning as well.
FSJ ... The feet of those who carried your program away are at the door again. Your program is soon to breathe its last.
FWIW — when visiting my mother last week in Scottsboro, the local paper (which covers North Sand Mountain in Stevenson) had Lane Kiffen on the front page of the sports section.
It seems Coach Kiffen and his father were watching Tana play basketball. Hmmm, wonder if that will make a difference.
I can agree with 16, Jet. BUT NEVER 15!
Our ESPN ranking was screwed up because we have so many NCAA infractions. Why would you penalize schools who go the extra mile??!!
I also think we are above Arkansas. There was distension among the Hotties on whether or not we are above Tennessee, and I still say they are above us in prestige with some distance between us.
If Kiffin wants to impress me on the visit, he'll bring Wifey, not Pops.
I heard Tony Franklin went to a frat house and beat up a guy. Could these stories be related?
Or a scholarship for the other all-important woman in your life.
Hey, what age would be too early to start recruiting a player. I read where Fred Taylor's son was recently selected for the FL All State team (not sure who did the selecting). He is 5'11, 205 and he is in the 8th grade.
Will - Who was the responsible party?
