Travis commits

MONDAY NOONISH
Post No. 1,003

Hey everyone.

DT Jamar Travis of W.S. Neal High in Brewton surprised nobody today by committing to the Tigers. A Southern Miss commitment since December, Travis earned an offer from Auburn during the weekend.

He accepted today.

Auburn now has 20 players committed to its 2009 signing class.

  4. Sullivan!!!!!!

Also, what about the biggun that didn't qualify -- the kid who originally signed withg LSU and wore the purple suit to the presser?

He pledged to AU but didn't make the grade.

    His presence would me Gynormous.

    ReplyDelete
  5. War Eagle!!! Good news!!!

    ReplyDelete
  6. And Travis, to begin the year, was a huge prospect.

As much as programs covet LINEMAN - why did his stock go dowm? Maybe he wasn't innerested in Bammer?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Apparently the powers of the HOTmobile are not to be underestimated.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Anonymous12:20 PM

j-z, NONE of MOnica's powers are to be underestimated!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Chris that is what I want to know. It was always between AU and UA for Mr. Travis' services but neither pulled the trigger. I thought it was grades but Rivals reports a 3.5 GPA.

    ReplyDelete
  10. had he met some of the S.Miss fans that I dealt with from this past game of '08 season, he would have never waivered.

    WDE!

  11. geez, I love Mon and all, but she's been Obama/Tebow-style diefied lately.

Cameron Kenney, WR to Oklahoma partly due to Sam Bradford.

Rollison had dinner with Luper - someone gave him a War Eagle and Rollison returned a War Eagle back. Rollison has an Auburn cake with War Eagle as his facebook pic.

Myles Wade to be a Red Raider - might cancel visit to AU.....

  13. how many outstanding/uncommited scholarships are out?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Been reading for a long time, finally got a profile, and am sooooooo excited about how this recruiting class looks as compared to what it was shaping up to be under Tubs!

    ReplyDelete
  15. This is taking shape. Not that it matters a ton for on the field play-- but for perception sake, do we get credit in the rankings even for kids that don't qualify this year? (I'm asking only from the perceived positive press Chizik and Co would get if we turned in a top class with short time on the job)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Iverness, I believe Charles Deas is the big lineman you were referring to. Have no clue what became of him.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I found his name: CHARLES DEAS.

    What's his latest status? A 6'5" 325lb DT would help I think.

    ReplyDelete

I think BigCat is right on the money. Travis apparently didn't have firm offers from AU or Bama(not sure why, although the numbers game may have kept Bama from pushing for him and AU may have been waiting to see if both Coleman and Marks went pro) and Southern Miss was his best option. Chizik's staff turned up the heat and grabbed him. It's a good get.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Sorry D -- I posted that and saw yours.

He's at Milford Prep School this season.

    PF, what does this mean:

    Obama/Tebow-style diefied lately

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anon, as far as Kenney goes, if I was a JUCO WR, returning QB would be my top consideration. UGA losing Stafford probably made that decision a lot easier. That's also why I felt he was a long-shot for AU even when he was listed as a verbal commitment.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Welcome Martini! Glad you decided to join the party.

Depressed, I think the new staff not contacting Kenney had more to do with us losing him than anything else.

    ReplyDelete
  23. WOOOO HOOOOO "ONE" for MrsFrontRim even though she's running on 2 hours of sleep. That's serious hotness right there.

Luv - Because you ask "why". I love that.

Did someone say Kirkpatrick to Texas? That can't be right. Bama had him delivered!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Inverness- thanks for the update. It always fascinates me how some of these players are so well-known during recruiting and then seem to drop off the face of the earth when they don't make it into school. Anyone know what became of Johnny Lee Dixon? He was a DB commit from a few years back.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Welcome to the HABOTN, Martini! WDE

Peter - hate the game... ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous12:37 PM

Early on it did not look like Travis would qualify. Now it looks like he will. That is the main reason for the lack of offers. This is a good pick up.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous12:37 PM

Monica, do I ask "why" a lot? I hadn't noticed.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I was looking at AU's signing class of 07 and Dixon was on there.

    I'll google it anbd see.

I had forgotten about Bell. Along with St. Loiuse, what others were hurt early on? Savagae?

Bell's a baller from what I hear. Also, in that link, a Bammer commit has shown interest in visiting AU next week - a DB named West from Mobile.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Could Obama had picked a WHITER guy to be his press secretary?

Man, for this to be a history making administration there sure isn't a change in the LOOK of it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Get out ya' hymnals, brethren, and turn to Number 134 ... a 5-star of ol'-timey gospel ... won'tcha sing wimme now ... "Bringin' in the Sheaves."

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous12:45 PM

Peter, if you're talking about Monica's powers, I give her a hard time about it because she's self-labeled "omnipotent" and some of the Hotties call her Omnica.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Chris you must be blind in one and and wear a patch on the other

    ReplyDelete
  33. naw jet, that'n makes me cry...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jet, is one of your personalities on the wrong board or am I the only one totally lost?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Luv ...

Oh my goodness ... you done messed with tha Queen.

I hope your head stays attached to your shoulders.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Did Benton give any interviews from the weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Jet - I gave Luv a compliment. Stop trying to stir trouble where there is none. It's not attractive.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous12:55 PM

Jet, I was just repsonding to this:

geez, I love Mon and all, but she's been Obama/Tebow-style diefied lately.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous12:56 PM

Yeah, Jet, WHY would you want to go and do something like that?

    ReplyDelete
  40. It's just Brother Jet from the HABOTNy Free Will Full Gospel All Auburn Church of the Hotties.

"Bringing in the Sheaves" is the first known hymn about recruiting, which is completely about the harvest.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Many things have been ascribed to me ... attractiveness would be a first.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think Frankenbummer is jealous that people call monica the queen all the time and stuff like that. Well get in line, Frankenbummer! If anyone is gonna take over as the Queen of HABOTN, it's me!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous1:00 PM

michael, you'll have a fight on your hands because I don't think Monica will relinquish her powers easily.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Jet - First, I think you are handsome. Secondly, "attractiveness" like when my Mama used to say to my three sisters and me, "Girls, act pretty when you're at Grandmother's."

    Now, Jet, act purdy.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I know my limits. I'm not fighting Jan Terri for anything. I'm a luvah, not a fightah. Now, I'm going back to work.

    ReplyDelete
  46. We could just dub Mon as OCD. Her initials are MCD and many call her Omnica, so if you switch it up you have OCD.
    I kinda like it.
Any good fb or 'crutin updates for us today OCD?

See? It has a nice ring to it.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Michael- You have always secretly been the queen of HABOTN.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yes Mon....friend of mine who knows a guy...FWIW...syas he hears Kirkpatrick to Texas...gonna pull the ole uppty opp on signin day...pull out the bammer hat then throw it down ....replace with Texas hat...wouldnt that be classic

    ReplyDelete
  49. Tyrik Rollison

For those interested. It aint half bad actually.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I would be pretty shocked if he left his son in Gadsden to play as far away as Texas, but I would LOVE IT!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I heard he is taking his son with him.

    ReplyDelete
  52. don't hate tha playaaaaaaa, indeed.

Mikal, due to the queen comment, I will announce that you are in my HABOTN top 5. so far, you and mobilz are all I've disclosed on this top secret list, but there are three more.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Are we talkin' bad about the Gadsden Purchase?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Nooj, sounds like Texas already has a Reggie Bush house awaiting his family.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Sounds like Tyrik Rollison is trying to play it close to the vest. He says he may not decide till signing day and things are still open. I still bet Auburn is the team to beat.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I wouldn't get my hopes up on Kirkpatrick or any of them leaving the state. This is shaping up as the classic signing day blitz for the evil empire. Remember Andre Smith, Julio Jones, etc? They were supposedly looking out-of-state and then SHOCKINGLY signed with bama on signing day. I expect more of the same.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Jet/Mon. I saw a post on Tider Insider regarding Willis. Poster said in July 08 that Willis would go to Bama in January. Hearing some pretty interesting info on Willis/Bama/Mobile? and the REC. You guys hearing anything.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Depressed ... I'm with you ... I think FSJ holds the note on Dre ... After all, he plays at East Vance City High School.

Sponge ... saw the same thing ... I love a good conspiracy as much as anyone else. But I think spending time on that is wasting time. He's gone ... never comin' back ... and we'll be fine doing what we're doing.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Sponge - I saw that July 08 discussion last week, but that's all I've seen. I do love a good conspiracy so if you have any fact or if you just want to make some stuff up I'm all ears.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Sponge- That post from the place that shall not be spoken is a fake. The date stamp gives it away. Sorry to disappoint.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Thanks Mon/guys. I had my doubts, but, would have been nice to have a big blow up tied all the way back to the top. Still hearing that PLI is coming to the tide however. Look for April. We'll see.

    Dre will wear Crimson.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Nooj ...

You jump in here sayin' you hate Bama ... and Bama cheats.

I got my eye on you.

    ReplyDelete
  64. You heard it from his own mouth ... the prosecution rests, your honor.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Does anyone have the rundown on this weekend's guest list?

    ReplyDelete
  66. jet = perry mason

    ReplyDelete
  67. well, if perry had been a prosecutor that is.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Nah, GaTiger ... more like ...

Jet = Hamilton Burger ... always snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

How did that bozo get re-elected as DA anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Anonymous1:48 PM

I wouldn't hire Baker as dogcatcher....don't know what Faulkner U is thinking?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anonymous1:57 PM

Ask ACA players what they think about Baker

    ReplyDelete
  71. Travis and Rollison good pickups; Please, get us some WR's.
Lebo, go see Nell and get some free throw lessons for your guys. If you win, they will come.

    ReplyDelete
  72. FSJ. You say Dre wears crimson. I agree. Does bama really want his teammate?

Jet, I was thinking the same thing!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Jet.. I couldn't agree w/ you more regarding willis and his affect on AU. Long run, we will be better off depending on the hire to replace him. Short term, there is no one that was recruiting for AU that Bama wants! Sad, but true. As for Bama, he is a step down from the guy he replaced.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Anonymous2:07 PM

Not hatin', but why is Willis even being talked about?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Anonymous2:09 PM

Monica, I just made myself LOL because of my last post!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Gottfried now fired. sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Inverness. Maybe Lebo can get someone out of our state to come to AU now.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I LOL'ed too. You're a hoot, Luv.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Gottfried and Shula- two coaches who you hate to see leave.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Rumor has it they are after the dude at VMI (can't remember his name though).
I hate to see gotfried fired.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Anonymous2:18 PM

F'baum reported that Saban was the reason Gottfried got fired. The man has limitless power in Tuscaloosa.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Rumor has it Saban wants to be called Omnica.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anonymous2:21 PM

Mike Anderson and Grant are gonna get long looks from what it looks like.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Where is Grant now?
    Wasn't he at VMI?

Duggar Baucom is listed as the coach at VMI now (and no, I don't have a clue who he is).

    ReplyDelete
  86. Darn. The only coach Lebo can clown....with half the talent.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Anonymous2:28 PM

Coaches in Texas today. Plane scheduled to leave Dallas and head to Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Could we be so lucky as to get similar news regarding Lebo?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Anonymous2:30 PM

    Spongeworthy...

Just saw your reply... I think we want Kelly, but I think we have a few that we are hoping to get that are a little higher on our board. It distresses me somewhat because he is a very good player. He had a crappy QB this year and was banged up for the majority of the year. From what I hear, he is a good kid. I could see him at Alabama. But I could also see him going to Auburn or Clemson too.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I think they are visiting Blake today and Eguae today. Right, Anon?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Miller. I believe Lebo can really coach. I just can't understand why he can't get at least one good inside guy, and a couple of shooters, big time zone busters. Having said that, recruiting is part of coaching. He also needs to be a better PR man for AU basketball.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Anonymous2:33 PM

One more thing...Watch out for Clemson. Dabo has done a very nice job in Gadsden. One of my friends on the GCHS coaching staff thought Alabama was crazy for not doing what was necesary to bring him in when Saban was hired. But it worked out well for Dabo I would say....

    ReplyDelete
  93. Probably the right decision on Gottfried. I've been a supporter if his in general -- he looked like a really good one until 2007 or so -- but that team looks bad this year.

I hope JaMychael Green doesn't have any second thoughts about why he signed with a downward-trending program.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Jay. I've heard from several in the know that Lebo is in trouble as well. Not middle of the year mind you. With AU sinking 90 million into an arena, they are looking for improvement.

If they let him go, I would really like to see an african american coach at AU for basketball. A tubby smith or mike anderson type. I don't know if Tubby would be a guy to go around selling AU basketball however. He hasn't worked at a place where he had to do that before.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Anonymous2:39 PM

If I had to guess...and this is only a guess....I would put even money on Mike Anderson.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Anonymous2:41 PM

What happened with Auburn and Mike Anderson the last time?

I thought he was a lock for the job.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Sponge,
Exactly what is that Lebo has done to warrant anyone believing he's a good coach?
Yes, recruiting is part of it... And he has not recruited to fill needs, nor has he recruited very well outside of his team's needs either.
They shoot less than 60% as a team from the FT line (no excuse). They have too many turnovers, play sloppy more often than not, have 0 shot selection, and rarely run good sets on offense (never make that extra pass to get an open shot). They always get outrebounded (due to lack of size mostly). The only positive thing anyone can reasonably say about Lebo is that the team generally plays hard for most of the game.
But, the game is much more than that, and I've yet to see Lebo show any signs of being a coach who can go any further than he has gone.
I'm sorry, but I think Auburn basketball can do MUCH better than averaging one of the worst teams in the league.

    ReplyDelete
  98. FSJ. In true Auburn form, I believe they wanted him to come interview for the job. You know, something that would be very public. If you want to steal away a good coach, you don't make him come to AU to interview him. You go see him with offer in hand providing he is interested. Coaches are public enough that you know all you need to know about him if you vett him properly.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Anonymous2:44 PM

Only the other Sith lords know Saban's real name, although he answers to "Darth"

    ReplyDelete
  100. Anderson refused to interview for the Auburn job in 2004.

Auburn actually offered the job first to Jeff Capel, an outstanding coach who is black, and he turned it down.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Miller. No amount of coaching can make up for lack of true basketball skills. Lebo has recruited athletes and tried to make them fundamental basketball players. Not going to happen. They can't go inside cause they have no size. Really poor recruiting. Regarding his coaching. They change defenses well and at key times. The almost always score on a set play after a timeout. They play very good defense, although they always lack size inside. Normally, I don't think turnovers have been our problem. What we can't do relates more to basketball skills. No real shooters on our team. No free throw shooting. Rebounding always an issue due to lack of size. If we shoot the ball at all, or free throws at all, we beat UF by 10. We have any inside game at all, we beat UK in Lexington. Just sayin.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Tubby Smith is "selling" basketball at Minnesota right now. Those fans aren't exactly jumping up and down for hoops.

I remember being up there in 2000. Tons of fans were filtering out of Target Center one night. I asked which teams were playing. It was Minnesota vs. Minnesota-Mankato ice hockey.

    Who knew?

    ReplyDelete
  103. Anonymous2:49 PM

So, Jay G, do you have any thoughts about who Auburn might go after?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Do you mean basketball?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Anonymous2:51 PM

that is, if Lebo was gone.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Jay, on a scale of 1-10, 10 the best, can you rate Lebo.

    coaching on court
    game planning
    recruiting
    selling the program

What do you think of his assistants.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I think he'll remain employed at Auburn.

If he were to get fired, Auburn would be wise to get an up-and-comer like Capel.

    On my list:
    *Scott Sutton, Oral Roberts
    (my former college suitemate)

    *Brad Brownell, Wright State

    *Brian Gregory, U. Dayton

*There are tons of assistants out there, too, but a head coach makes more sense. This is the SEC.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Well Michael. If we interview an african american, we better darn well hire him. I'd hate to get skewered in the media twice in one year. Again, I think the time is definitely right for AU to do this. Think Obama would be interested.

    ReplyDelete
  109. The hiring of the next head basketball coach would not be important. The important hires are who he brings in as assistants. Right?

    ReplyDelete
  110. i was stunned we went into Bud Walton on saturday and thumped the Hogs regardless of how they have been struggling. nice win. hard to win over there.

  112. Alabama should throw all the money they need to get Anthony Grant from VCU ... will they? I don't know. Depends if there's somebody cheap working down the hall.

MillerT ... we've had the convo before ... I think Lebo is a good coach ... he's not a great fit for Auburn. You put him somewhere has any sense of built-in tradition and advantage, he's kickin' people all over the place.

At Auburn, with this dump we have right now, and what kids' expectations are ... you gets what you gets.

Sponge, you made my case regarding his in-game coaching. I saw what coaching was when Jim O'Brien schooled Cliffie the Vest in the NCAA tournament in Knox-vegas.

Lebo can coach ... but under the current circumstances, coaches don't win at Auburn.

Right now, Auburn wins by out-athleting people, romping up and down the court. It can win games, but rarely wins championships. It's not sustainable.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I miss seeing the "Gill 09" avatars. That was some nice work.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Luv. Maybe a little stimulas plan to AU to help get that coach. certainly we must be hurtin having lost so much money buying stock in ....Franklin, Tubby, Borgas, gran, nall, willis, etc. Franklin would be a write-off on taxes by anyones definition. Is there a line.

    Buying a dumbass.....100% deductable.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I think Lebo will get another yr, mainly b/c the SEC is horrible this yr and we will end up winning a few more games. I would like to see what he can do next yr with his recruiting class. We are losing Tez, Barrett, and Vot, but apparently we have some talent coming in.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Jet. exactly. At some point, you have to get the jimmies and joes. Sonny won w/ barkley and the rifleman. Lebo has yet to get anyone of that caliber. Of course, to get those guys, you have to get dirty if you know what I mean. Lebo, to his credit, won't do that. A lot of stuff in bball gets overlooked. stuff that would get you canned in football.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Still one of the all-time best interviews: Franklin after the Tennessee "win".

    ReplyDelete
  118. Will. I think the class coming in is good, but not great. freshmen get killed in the sec unless they are special and have vets backing them up.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Jay G ... I just love me some stretch play coming out of the end zone.

    Love it!!!!

    Thanks, Vols.

    Love, Jet.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Yes Jay. Maybe Franklin had a new CD coming out. "How to instill confidence in your players by callin yourself a dumbA" Bet that will have em all ready to buy into "the system"

    ReplyDelete
  121. Sponge - if dumbass (one word) deductions are allowed then I had a better than expected 2008!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Yep Jet. Run that read option stretch play with.....Your slowest QB (no option to keep), your slowest RB (tate), over and over and over..........

    ReplyDelete
  123. Anonymous3:13 PM

    Grant's record...from TI..

    At VCU, so far: 67-19
At Miami Senior high school: 172-11 (with three state titles)

    ReplyDelete
  124. Jay G. Let's fire Lebo quick, so we can get us some Grant. Time's a wastin.

    ReplyDelete
  125. FSJ ... he's the best buy on the up and comer market.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Big Mike. If you had a lot of those deducts, go see Jay Jacobs. There's probably room for you in his Athletic Dept.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Anonymous3:19 PM

Franklin's UT interview is one of my favorites...right up there with Saban's Clemson post game P.C.

Naturally Jim Mora and Bobby Knight take the cake though.

    ReplyDelete
  128. My guess is that the "buyout fund" at Auburn is a little lean right now.

Not sure spending $1 million to rid yourself of Lebo is a good investment right now.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Anonymous3:23 PM

    Jet...

The more I read about him the more I like him.

I don't think Alabama is going to go on a crazy spending spree with this hire. That would lead me to believe that it will be either Grant or Anderson.

I wish they would break the bank though.

    ReplyDelete
  130. If you want to fill up that 90 million arena, it may be.

FSJ, one of my favorite interviews is Joe Kines at Halftime of that bowl game when he was interim.
Whaaaat did he say? Didn't understand a word. Really funny.

I'm out guys. going to the gym.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Break the bank to get who, FSJ?

So spend 75 cents on that dollar to get Grant.

Anderson, although he hasn't set the woods afire at Missouri, would probably be a good value for you.

I think you'll get same production out of Grant as you would with Capel, and it would be a lot cheaper.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Anonymous3:29 PM

LOL...they are saying that Gottfried "resigned"....

    Are you kidding me?

    ReplyDelete
  133. Anonymous3:31 PM

FSJ - Did they want him to make coaching changes and he refused? This sounds eerily familiar.

    ReplyDelete
  134. It's funny how many coaches just up and "resign" when the going gets stuff. Who'd a thunk it.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Just for funsies, I went and looked up Sonny's record.

4 straight losing seasons, 1 winning season w/ no postseason bid, 5 straight NCAA tournaments, then the bottom fell out in 1988-89and he left for VCU.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Will, I think Tez and Barret are additions by subtraction

    ReplyDelete
  137. Gottfried leaving Bama is multiplication by subtraction.

  138. HABOTN CRACK I NEED HABOTN CRACK!!!
I've been incarcerated all day. Race to a computer as soon as I get paroled. And what do I find? A discussion of UA-T bball coach.
    EWWWWW!!!

Must go to a meeting now. Hopefully this "fix" will hold till later.

  139. I really think people underestimate how hard it is to recruit to the State of Alabama. My professor was talking about that on Saturday. They have 2 faculty vacancies and they can't get people to apply because of the states stigma.

  140. Alabama coach for a revenue sport gets fired, it will be discussed.

  141. Auburn men's basketball sure does take a lot of $$$ away from football.

I say can the men's program.

  142. Gottfried's hands look like parrots.

  143. One thing I forgot about until I started reading through Auburn's media guide today ...

The team has two major-college transfers sitting out this season.

G Tony Neysmith is a 6-foot-5 guard from Oklahoma.

Brandon McGee is a 6-7 forward from Indiana.

    Just passing that along ...

  144. I am a 6-3 scorpio.

  145. Jet one-eighth star

    5-foot-8 1/2
    Center
    Capricorn
    Can't go to the left
    Slow footed
    Can't jump
    Gets in foul trouble easily
    Poor shooter
    Adequate passer/screener

  146. BigCat - That would explain this local news item here last night.
"The dean of arts and sciences at West Virginia University is leaving to become provost at Auburn University in Alabama.

Mary Ellen Mazey was selected after a national search for the position of provost and vice president for academic affairs, Auburn officials announced Friday. The decision is pending approval by Auburn's Board of Trustees at a meeting scheduled for Thursday."

  147. I would judge myself as a 1/4 star. The two trips I make it up and down the floor before I pass out from exhaustion, I am pretty special.

Curtis Luper seems to be the one they send after the big dogs...I thought trooper was supposed to be the big dog also but Luper is on the 3 big boys rueben randle, Bruce brown, tyrik rollison

    ReplyDelete
  149. So did Gotfried just get Lebo'd

    ReplyDelete
  150. Trooper Taylor also is a big hitter. Luper happened to be on these guys during his Okla. State days ...

    ReplyDelete
  151. With Travis commiting, AU moved from 29th to 24th in the team recruiting rankings.

There in lies the important root of , what i think is the reason J-DUB left for the "School across the state"... when you don't feel wanted anymore and you not the big dog anymore you leave!!!

    ReplyDelete
  155. I am going to Portland tomorrow. Should I go to DE Myles Wade's house and try and get him to decommit to TT and come to AU? I would not even charge AU for the airfare. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  156. So why does bammer have to buy players

    ReplyDelete
  157. Good evening Hotties. Trying to catch up on the posts to get all the latest recruiting news. It's hard to be away from the sight during the day, but I have to work. I do sneak a peek periodically!

Welcome to Nooj4AU and martini. Glad you joined us.

I am ready for Signing Day. I might have to take a sick day.

    ReplyDelete
  158. DoWhat we should be fine at DL. We have 4 committed and they are all pretty good. But if you see any tall, fast WRs with good hands out there please send them our way.

    ReplyDelete
  159. hello to all hotties be a long day but here now to check up on the big au

    ReplyDelete
  160. JGT,
Neysmith and McGee may be talented players... but, they do nothing to alleviate a major problem with the team. That is that we have no size. There is no one down low. AU has no post presence, no dominant rebounder, no post scoring threat. It's just a bunch of guard types and small forward types that play street ball and chunk 3's all day. Sure they play decent defense, but they are a horridly bad shooting team, especially to be comprised of SG's and SF's.

Monica time for investigation, rivals says Randle Still Visiting? he has narrowed his list down the three schools has Auburn made the list??

Highly doubt he makes his visit but sure hope so.

    ReplyDelete
  162. nope - LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma

so why is he coming to sit in our parlor?

    ReplyDelete
  163. wow, i read that and assumed we were in his top 3. i should have known he was too big of a fish.

    ReplyDelete

    ^ is depressed

    ReplyDelete
  165. How did Alabama make the top 3 when they were left out of his top 4? Weird...

    ReplyDelete
  166. Barkely - "I should have known he was too big a fish"???? What sort of defeatist gibberish is that?!? Just because it's not the "right fit" doesn't mean the fish was too big. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  167. Don't put anything in stone until signing day, fellas.

    ReplyDelete
  168. this is where not making that "splashy" hire comes into effect. we would be going after uab's recruits if we hadn't got some good assistants....or are we already going after them?

    ReplyDelete

Clint Moseley looks faster on tape then i expected.

  170. I hate to bring bad vibes but....Ark is visiting Coleman and Evans tonight/tomorrow. They feel real good about getting Coleman. I hope his uncle talks to him. Evans not so much listening to Ark.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Randle signs with LSU, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Depending on how it shakes out I figure Auburn will finish in the 17-20 range this year in recruiting...

That's a pretty good job, IMO considering that Chizik and his staff had to start from scratch on some of these kids.

    ReplyDelete
  173. fsj, are you celebrating gottfried's "resignation"??

i haven't talked to one bama fan who wasn't excited, or one auburn fan who wasn't disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Dude...I am thrilled at his "resignation"......

I'm reading alot of stuff about Grant and Anderson.

I'd be happy with either to be honest.

I'd like a huge name, but we aren't Kentucky in basketball.

Jet just about has me sold on Grant though.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Just to get a sense of what we have at Auburn and what we had at Auburn, I got a chance to talk to big recruit here in Mobile today. He is a Bama commit but had great things to say about CGM. I was very impressed with his impression of CGM. The bad news is that he said that he loved Willis when Willis was recruiting him for Auburn. He thought he was pretty strong. File this under for what it is worth.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Leave Grant alone FSJ! I want Grant at AU when Lebo decides to grace us with his "resignation".

    ReplyDelete
  177. both of those would be good hires imo. the talent's there, so i assume you guys will get someone decent.

just remember, you'll have to take a back seat to our women's team ;)

    ReplyDelete
  178. barkley...

Looks like everybody is taking a back seat to your women's team.

Alabama is improving. That idiot they hired after Moody about ran the program into the ground. It's strange because she did a good job at MTSU.

  179. Eguae just committed to AU!
