Post No. 1,020
Welcome to Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.
- FINAL
Vanderbilt wins, 82-75. - AUBURN TO @ 1:23
Vanderbilt leads, 76-72. A pair of three-point shots from Beal have given the Commodores a big boost. - AUBURN TO @ 4:30
Vanderbilt leads, 70-67. Ogilvy, Vanderbilt's big center, is getting assertive and working Auburn near the basket. - SECOND TO @ 11:58
Vanderbilt leads, 54-50. Auburn has lots if verve -- and its shooting touch. The Commodores aren't really abusing near the basket like they were early in the game, but this Jermaine Beal character is hitting shots from all over. - FIRST TO @ 15:58
Tied at 48. Auburn has scored on five of its first six possessions to open the half. Not too shabby. There's a different level of energy out there right now. - Football recruit David Oku is here. A few kids in the student section started cheering his name and Oku didn't mind. He began leading the chorus. Funny.
- This is the "Red Panda Acrobat," who performed at halftime. While riding a unicycle, she was kicking bowls from her feet to her head. And she'd stack 'em 12 high. It's a miracle.
- HALFTIME
Vanderbilt leads, 41-36. Auburn scored three points on each of its final three possessions of the first half -- Barber with the "and one", Barrett with a three, Sullivan with a three. - FOURTH TO @ 3:01
Vanderbilt leads, 38-27. Same basic concept. Lett is showing some signs of life on the offensive end. - THIRD TO @ 7:28 (I missed the second one with Washington stuff)
Vanderbilt leads, 29-19. Auburn is having a difficult time defending in the post. The Commodores have three big guys and they're getting plenty of opportunities. Barber and Johnnie Lett seem ill-equipped to handle the barrage. - Reed has checked in.
- FIRST TO @ 15:51
Vanderbilt leads, 9-3. Scintillating start for the Tigers. They are 1-for-8 right now. PG DeWayne Reed apparently was a late arrival and has been benched as a result. More on that later. - Your Auburn Tigers starters:
F/C -- Korvotney Barber
F -- Lucas Hargrove
SF -- Rasheem Barrett
SG -- Tay Waller
PG -- Tez Robertson

It wont let me view Dowhat.
Red Panda looked awesome!
I know I have asked this before, but since the BOTN has so many new faces I will ask again: does anyone remember the bball game circa 2001 where the unicyclists all ran into each other at halftime?
Hmmmm, might be because it is on the Rivals premium site. Sorry. It showed Oku and Taylor holding up a sign and smiling for the crowd. It said RBU is waiting on OKU!!!!
thats pretttty sweeeeet dowhat.
waiting to eat at carrabbas in MGM. Cab someone get me a beverage?
amended: another beverage.
Jack and Coke?
Got room at the table JGT? If so, order me a Sirloin Marsala and i'll be there in a few.
I saw a few hotties at the game. We're international. I'll take a mic ultra if you're buying.
I realize not many Hotties here right now on this Sat. evening, but I'd appreciate any rec. on what HD TV to finally break down and purchase.
THT... we have a 42" Sharp Aquos and love it.
Sharp, Samsung and Sony are the top brands for LCD according to Consumer Reports.
Depending on what size you want, how much you want to spend... you can get a very good tv.
Thanks D. Miller
Plasmas supposedly have many advantages over LCD, but I really REALLY dislike the reflective surface on plasmas. Are you satisfied with sports on LCD?
mic ultra? just finished a number of bass ales with some friends shooting billiards...carrabas is good stuff.
Very satisfied...
Plasmas (from my research) have a shorter lifespan than LCD, and have burn in problems with the screen (especially prevalent if you use a DVR or the sort)
funny- I came to the hotties fir advice when I bought tvs. I don't think 720 vs 1080 is a big deal ... But a 120 hz tv is sweet!
720 vs 1080 really depends on the size...
I was seriously considering samsung, but reviews on CR (actual customers, not CR) indicate a highly prevalent on/off malfunction that starts about a month after purchase.
We're putting it in a large basement room, so we'll probably go 50-55"
This Basketball situation really is starting to irritate me. Lebo says he can't recruit becuase of facilities, however the same facilities have allowed coach Nell Fortner to lead a top 10 team in womens. I am about ready to change directions, however the fact that Jay Jacobs would be responsible for replacing Lebo makes me a little nervous about pulling any sort of plug!
I have a 37 in westinghouse 1080 lcd and a 52 in Vizio plasma.
Love 'em both ... prefer LCD, but 52 inch in the cave is pretty cool, too.
no one out there with Sony Bravia?
I hear that the LCD works best in very dark rooms and plasma is better when there are several windows.
We went to the local Circuit City today but left without making any decisions.
We were going to buy our daughter a TV for her birthday only to find out that LCD and plasma were our only options. (no, we don't get out that much)
JD, are the Biscuits still in Memphis?
My Sharp has a feature that automatically adjusts to the amount of light in the room...
I think other brands have something similar, but I'm not certain...
I'd never get a plasma. If they tip over, they're dead forever.
THT, I have a 42" Sony Bravia and love it. Bought it 1 1/2 years ago before football season. Great for sports.
Thanks, Kathy. I've been sold on Samsung for the past few months, but the latest comments about on/off cycling scare the poop out of me. I may end up with Sony. Or I may just put it off another year. Procrastination is my forte.
size does matter and in this case so does speed.....
get the biggest one you can for the room you have ... with the fastest refresh rate (prefer 1080) and you will be happy...
How could you not...
PS Buy Korean...
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Sharp Aquos...I've a 42 1080p LCDD and it's best TV I've seen. I also have a 50 Samsung DLP 720 which is great for sports since that's what they broadcast. Either way it's a can't miss.
DL, um, I thought the Korean TVs were made below the 38th parallel
Dear Leader ... is it true that you have a gift shop on your end of the DMZ?
Sony Bravia and LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
there used to be advantages of plasma over lcd - no longer- gotta go with LCD
Ok, I'm going to listen to the AUsome Auburn ladies. Kathy, Monica, and (most importantly) Mrs THT all like the Sony. So in the next 2 weeks I'll either buy one or decide to keep living in the 20th century.
I'm just glad I didn't have to watch the '08 season in HD. It was bad enough in FD (fuzzy def)
THT...early LCDs had a slow refresh rate that was nt good for sports. 8 m/s or less is undetectable. Most have 6 m/s (millisecinds) refresh rate.
LG, Sony, Samsung and sharp are the best. Go to Pricegrabber.com to compare prices and get reviews.
Thanks, Hoopie.
OK, I'm stuck here watching Vols/Gators ... so I will pose the question:
What do the hotties think of the hyperkinetic coach of the Vols, Bruce Pearl?
I actually like Pearl a lot. He's got spunk. We need that.
Just got to the radio station and saw where we had some big pickups so far. I love the Chiz for his aggression.
Back to spinning tunes now.
THT-I bought two LG's (LCD)last year for the house and love them. One is inthe bedroom and the other inthe TV room that has one wall with several windows from top to bottom. No problem with glare. I think plasma has the problem with too pmuch light.
I was at the game today and the Red Panda was ausome.
The best thing about to the game these days is the meal in the scholly room. if you eat too much and watch Tez shoot FT's you're liable to lose the meal you just ate. How can he be that bad? No excuse whatsoever.
I recently got a 42 1080 Panasonic after Thanksgiving. I love it! The colors are some of the best Ive seen on any TV. If I was getting one now it would definately have 120hz though. I hope you're taking advantage of the Circuit City 25% sales
Keep an eye on Circuit City prices... And if Best Buy still does price matching... Take the Circuit city sale price, price match it at Best Buy and get it there...
(When I bought my tv, Best Buy did price match + 10% of the difference...)
Great ideas on the price matching. I don't want to buy from a store that may be gone by the time I get the TV home.
I like getting in trouble at Best Buy.
Has J-Z revealed his Kicker on a Stick logo yet?
J-Z?
I don't recall a J-Z?
Are we having a HABTON Super Bowl prediction contest?
On another notes HOTTIES,
I installed a wireless network with a N rated router about a year ago but did so with the thought in mind that I would later upgrade my wireless G adapter...
I did last week and now get 270Mbps.... approximately 60-80 feet away from the router.... that is sweet!
I agree Moblz.... the N router is sweet!
I get a stronger connection on my Dell laptop with a built in G adapter than I did with the old G router.
My wife's Macbook is twice as fast as the Dell b/c it has a built in N adapter....
As an aside... why is I always get the hand-me-downs? I get her old laptop while she gets the new macbook... I was the one that wanted a macbook... Weird how it works out that way.
All..big football fan here, but this is my first year following recruiting this close. I'd like opinions here...Which service has been more reliable over the years Rivals or Scouts?
By the way... if you haven't seen it... the new Jim Beam commercial is very good!
D. Miller, remember:
Happy wife, happy life.
Nice meltdown by Bob Knight's son ... very nice.
Running out on the floor and getting tossed, then running back out for some more.
Chip off the ol' blockhead.
Goodnight HOTTITES.
She's happy, Phooey... at least she better be ;)
I'm stuck with an 18 hr workday tomorrow. Sweet dreams to all you Hotties.
I have a Panasonic plasma and love it. Simply looked at the wall of TV's at Best Buy and picked the prettiest. To Jay's point, when I opened the box the TV was broken, but I returned it for another and no problems.
The bad part of getting an HD TV is that you get spoiled and shows that aren't in HD look horrible - blurry.
it's 12:50am ET and this is my first HABOTN check of the day. putting in new countertops/sink/faucets are wearing me out.
thanks for the twitter updates JG. i needed them today. nite.
Picked up a 52" LG HD 120hz at Christmas from a Circuit City that was down to their displays. Bribed the manager to text me when I could get the best deal...drove away with it for $1200 plus the $100 tip...
A buddy picked up a great deal from Tiger Direct. I've made lots of purchases from TD with no issues.
The drink has bested me tonight.
War Eagle to all.
G-Mornin HABOTN!!
JGT - do what you do best. The Hotties need their cruitin' fix, so make that trip! What's the good news?
The recruits aren't even awake yet, hehateme, so there is no news.
I'm headed over in a bit.
What? These guys sleep on their visit??
I know you'll have all the news soon - great news today and "depressed" changes his name!!!
Good morning hehateme and Jay GT. Hope y'all have a Hottie day.
Jay GT - my bedtime post last night came across as being from tcruell (11:55 EST). I have no idea how that happened.
Need to know if the 'cruits had sweet AU dreams!
I've heard Sharp is coming out with a new LED TV that is getting fantastic reviews.
NoVa - that's why I've never bought one. There's always something better to wait for, or for which to wait (in case Monica is up).
Tar Heel ... have you passed on a bowl of vanilla because you were waiting on a new chocolate syrup?
No, of course not.
So get your ... heels ... to Best Buy, and pick out a winner.
Remember, an Auburn man has a spirit that is not afraid.
Jet - I was out of Hershey's last night and had to go to the pantry. What do I find... Hershey's Lite.
EWWWWW! Although my ignorant palate thinks Hershey's chocolate syrup is great, that Lite crap was the most faux chocolate I've ever tasted. Mrs THT snuck that in the house. It will get replaced promptly.
I'll be too busy working to get a tv today.
THT - if you never leave the starting line, you can't win! Too bad you don't have a new LCD TV for the game tonight - make sure you have it for March Madness!
I checked TV's for 2 months, bought one in Dec, and love it!!
Moral of the story; the old syrup (and tv) work just fine.
Lite syrup, mayo, sour cream, etc., are an abomination before the Lord. Verily.
I decided to skip the flat panel for another year or 2 to let them continue to drop in price. I bought a used 36 inch Sharp CRT for $50. People are getting rid of CRTs for peanuts right now and I don't miss the high def.
Early adopter I'm not.
Sour cream is an abomination, period. IT'S SOUR, that means it's GONE BAD. How someone ever tricked people into thinking their spoiled cream was something that should be eaten is a mystery to me (to paraphrase Bono/Roy Orbison).
Mayo only good for cole slaw and as an ingredient for honey mustard dressing, which I'm sure contains very little honey or mustard.
My daughter, Miss THT, suggests I change my handle to Ignorant Palate. That girl can flat out cook and her palate is certainly far more sophisticated than mine.
But once you go HD, you can not go back!
Good morning Hotties. Drinking coffee waiting on the recruiting news.
THT - totally agree on the SOUR cream!!
Check out Vizio TV's - lower $$, and still good reviews.
JGT should have his first update in an hour or so...........
We got my daughter a Vizio and very satisfied with it. They are definitely lower in price. Co-worker got the 46" Vizio and loves it.
Sour cream good. Particularly on a good Bacon Explosion.
Vizio ... great value ... the 52 inch I have has been a dream, but then again so has the 37 inch Westinghouse.
I bet you sour cream haters don't like buttermilk either.
NoVa - absolutely right, unless, of course, it is hidden in pancakes covered with pure maple syrup.
Well of course, I don't drink the stuff. But it makes almost any kind of bread better.
Can't have potatoes without sour cream and French Onion dip, YUM!
Check out this thread on the Scout free board. A **** recruit (db/wr, QB in HS) brought to OSU by Luper. A guy from his HS says a HS friend told him he's transferring to Auburn. He's not on the OSU roster.
Could be one of those rumors that disappear into the ether, but may have substance. Either way it's interesting.
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=6&f=1010&t=3865747
NoVa ... we're forming the "Buttermilk-Sour Cream" Caucus.
Are you in?
Count me in!
Good Morning Guys! While waiting on the old Joe Maker to brew my delicious wake up juice, looking to see if there was some news on the recruits. Gotta get ready for mass...check back later.
Morning HOTTIES!!!
Just made some homemade Buttermilk Biscuits and they are banging!!!!
Waiting for a Twitter 'cruiting news from the "Grand Poo-Pah" (Jay G)
of breaking news from Auburn on recruiting.
I gonna get ready for church then its back home for my world famous HOT Wings on Super Sunday!!!!
Has anyone noticed the most amazing thing in Jay GT's photo of the Red Panda Acrobat. Forget the bowls, I'm talking about just as many seats filled as empty.
Jay GT - Have you thought about replacing the red parts of your face with orange, in keeping with the HABOTN color scheme. You'd have chicks chasing you down and probably get a few man crushes.
