Mr Hedley you maka me laugh.
ehyou, working from home has it's benefits.
Uh oh...page 2... thinks start to get a little freaky on page 2. Hide the children's eyes.
We have a copier that punches the holes in the paper!
I have fists that punch holes in bama fans!
michael, i am a genius. I know because a test i took on the internet said i was
This overheard in Saban's recruiting meeting...
I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists.
and puppets!
Internet tests are pretty accurate, Harrison. In fact, during a paternity lawsuit, my relation to a child was tested through the internet. Still don't know how they pulled that one off, but I am paying child support these days. It must have been pretty accurate.
Hehehe, methodists:)
d miller, it was a bit odd to move a tight end to defensive end, guard to center, center to guard like it's no big whoop. there had to have been better alternatives than that. if not, that's a recruiting issue.
It is said Saban lands a lot of recruits with his ventrilickwist act (try spelling that one right, HArrison!)
no puppets! this has been decided--they are too cruel.
ventriliquist...told ya i'm a genius. ididn't even google it
i think i spelled it wrong now that i look at it
OK. So we have TWO offensive tackles for next year. Good thing they've both promised not to have any (more) injuries in 2009. Phewww.
i believ it has an o in it.
ventriloquist
and i meant believe...
i can only spell words on a 4th grade level
The Inmates Are Running the Asylum in Knoxville
Average HOTTIE IQ = 41.
Test your IQ here.
great link, emmet. that's at least unethical.
41. that was tyrik rollison's final math grade
Given the prospects for our offensive line in 2009, I'm going to ask my Fairy Godmother to suspend me in recruiting-euphoria-pergatory land for the imminent future. Unfortunately, my Fairy Godmother happens to look like Tony Franklin in drag and drinks PBR by the case.
we're normal, abbie normal.
I guess now is a good time to admit I am Mr. United.
Psyche!!!
Everydayshouldbesaturday's comment on the Franklin hiring ... have to share ... too funny.
"Also finding new work of sorts: Tony Franklin, the textbook-writin’, Hugh-Nall fightin’, Tuberville-indictin’, pink-slip kitin’ offensive coordinator who, after his ignominious departure from Auburn, has now found employ at Middle Tennessee State. He credits his success in the interview to actually shaving, since the last time we all saw Franklin he looked like he’d just gotten through huffing Krylon through a filthy rag for three days straight and sleeping in the crawlspace of the Auburn football offices."
Emmett, that article is just bizarre. I don't know what to think of Kiffin. For some reason, Houston Nutt doesn't seem so strange anymore.
41? That was my ACT score
Or, was that the SAT?
are there any good bridges near mtsu for tf to sleep under?
Maybe there is a logical reason for the lack of offensive linemen. Have you consider the possibility of us introducing the new 8 wide formation?
Do you think the reporters are nicer in Tennessee and will help him carry his books in?
they'll probbly help push monte kiffin around in his wheelchair and remind him what day it is and what not
nice one, jan michael terri.
But we DON'T want the Irish!
HaHa, it is I!
There is a HS in Cali that does it Steve, but unfortunately, I think college rules dictate linemen.
Or, should it be, HaHa it is me.
Looks like some dullard like Mr. United is writing for Rivals in Murpheesboro, TN these days.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=ap-middletennessee-franklin&prov=ap&type=lgns
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP)—Middle Tennessee State University has hired former Auburn assistant Tony Franklin as its new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Franklin spent 10 as Auburn’s offensive coordinator and was fired midway through last season when the Tigers’ sputtered in his spread offense.
Before going to Auburn, Franklin was offensive coordinator for two seasons at Troy, Middle Tennessee’s Sun Belt Conference rival.
Franklin guided prolific offenses in his stint at Troy.
10 YEARS MY A!
You got to admit though. Kiffin got Tennessee back on the national season quicker than anyone could have ever imagined.
I was talking about tony franklin, Harrison... I should have said Murfreesburrough instead of Tennessee, but I have no idea how to spell that. Harrison?
I believe it was more like 10 months.
looks like gnome doesn't know how to spell it either... but his act is worse because it is spelled correctly in the article
I use to work in Murfreesboro, the arm pit of Tennessee.
Welcome home, GaTiger
i don't pay enough attention michael. i think you spelled it right though
dentistry is a profession not widely parcticed in murfreesboro.
LOL GATiger are you already home???
Thank you Jet, that's mighty kind. My stay will be short however since it being Friday 'n all, we're having Mexican. So this tiger will be leaving the house to meet the family imminently.
Spell that one Harrison.
And I won the 5th Grade Spelling Bee so those words were harder than your piddly little 4th Grade one.
Franklin had no chance to succeed at Auburn because the coaches didn't back him.
[/josh moon]
Yes I am Mon. My drive commute is 6 miles which is right nice in these here parts.
t-h-a-t o-n-e.
Where is Will?
Like I said yesterday....how bad is it when Coach O is the most stable coach on your staff (Other than Monte)....
I think it might be the 4th sign of the apocalypse....
I think I remember Nostradamus had a quatrain saying:
" And the beast ripped his shirt off and called to the head coach...Yawr...Yawr...Yawr...a DumbA$$ "
i never made it to 5th grade. i dropped out after the 4th grade win to become a professional word-speller.
in hindsight i should have stayed in school
Excellent Harrison, you performed precisely as I silently predicted.
Middle Tenn. State and BEYOND!!!
The Tony Franklin undershorts I bought on Ebay last October are going to be worth a FORTUNE someday!!
don't know Mon. His abscence is alarming. Haven't talked to him in a while either.
Topics I'd like to see die ...
1. Mr. U Kno Who
2. The Franklin Meth ... I mean, Mess
Commish, perhaps you can use them to go into the forest and chop down the largest tree.
I made fun of him, but I liked Coach Franklin at Troy...he just stepped in a big pile of it when he came to Tubbs staff...
You should call him, Harrison.
I'd like to add The Tub Years to your list, Guvnuh.
TF should've been allowed to bring at least one assistant with him. He was doomed from the word go.
i'll probably talk to him tomorrow so we can figure out how many beers we're gonna drink
This comment has been removed by the author.
Monica's powers as a lobbyist are uncomparable.
Executive Order
Office of Gov. Jet
By the power vested in me, by me, I hereby decree the following topics off limits (unless you have something creative to offer)
1. Mr. U Kno Who
2. Tony Franklin
3. The Tub Years
Any word on whether or not MTSU allowed Franklin to bring some Auburn coaches with him? It woule make the transition easier if Franklin was able to bring some assistants from his former staff.
you mean incomparable?
Hugh Nall may be available.
Hugh Nall is available.
touche' Jay G.
Actually "incomprehensible," Harrison.
Sorry for the typo.
Any of you guys heard from Mr U lately?
And whose fault was it really, Franklin's or Tubs?
And does anyone want to talk about Tubs legacy?
And how bout that BC coaching situation? How does that compare to our recruitment of Aycock?
We have a long offseason, Jet. Quit giving me so many topics to push so early.
Michael ...
I guess you're not a part of my 22 percent approval rating base.
Maybe TF could bring someone from BC?
Gov, I have been against you ever since I found out your stimulus plan had no money going towards the destruction of all puppets everywhere.
I am over the Mr U Drama,
- The U stands for Unintelligent and Uninteligable...because that what his calls are...
- He comes across as a bad combo of Stephen A. Smith and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog...
- And I am still waiting for the press release about him in Mens Fitness Magazine...and his work as the "Before" model for the Extenze ads does not count...
And Thats the end of it...I am done
Michael - Predictable is step one in your fall from the throne of Humor King. Fight it!
Bryce Brown to CFL???
Michael,
I am committed to the BC Bailout rather than a War on Puppets.
I'm not necessarily for or against puppet destruction at this point. I believe a sub-committee should be formed to study this important issue at length. I nominate the Honorable Gov. Palin and the fine chick married to that dude that drives fast to be members of the aforementioned committee.
I have never aspired to own the throne of Humor King. All I want is to be the Queen of HABOTN. If that is predictable, then consider me Miles Davis.
you want puppets destroyed gatiger. robots are next
Can we rename 4-5:00 at HABOTN "Puppet Hour"?
God Save the Queen!
It's a Fascist Regime!
This comment has been removed by the author.
i figured it was already called that. It's my favorite time of the day
I nominate Jay Jacobs for the Puppet committee...who knows about being a puppet better than JJ
Is Jay Jacobs into puppets? Things may be worse than I thought.
JJ is a Puppet
Well, I've got nothing against metaphorical puppets. In fact, some puppet metaphors are the best metaphors we have, and I support Gov Jet in his tolerance of such.
It's the real ones that must die.
That's cold Emmett.....true but cold
This comment has been removed by the author.
one puppet i do like is Oscar the Grouch. I agree with most things he says, and he reminds me of myself. Except i don't live in a trash can...yet.
Franklin wasn't really to blame for what went on at Auburn. Neither were the other coaches. It is like you put some cats and dogs in a trash bag and then got pissed because they fought.
Speaking of spelling bees: I lost my third grade spelling bee on the word "hold." I jumped up and spread my legs out and made a guitar strumming motion while yelling, "uuuhhHHHH H! O! L! D! HOLD THAT LINE! uuuhhHHHH H! O! L! D! HOLD THAT LINE! uuuhhHHHH H! O! L! D! HOLD THAT LINE! uuuhhHHHH H! O! L! D! HOLD THAT LINE!"
The judges whispered to each other while covering their microphones, and on of them (some bama loving librarian) said into the microphone, "We cannot accept that answer. You LOSE!"
Watching USC & Notre Dame(formerly college)Football Live on ESPN...and I am just amazed that Brock Huard ever could have been a QB, I would have thought the ball would have just gone into orbit around his head....
Terribly sorry to sidetrack, but I mentioned earlier today something about an Akita free to a good home. I can't help but notice that said Akita is still around.
tough break
Sorry Steve, but it does piss me off when I put cats and dogs in trash bags and they fight. WHY DON'T THEY JUST BAHAVE! IT'S NOT LIKE I AM MAKING THEM STAY IN THERE FOREVER!
OK, I gotta leave HABOTN Puppet Hour. SEe yall next week.
MJT out!
they will only be in there until the bag hits the river
I am off to cook some dinner....
War Eagle Hotties
great now i got nobody to talk pointlessly with
so that's what you want? dogs and cats playing together? NEVER! the fight has been on for millenia--it will continue.
Must be a tough ol' bag
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, MASS HYSTERIA!
Is Pat Dye talk acceptable? I always loved to hear him smart-off to reporters interviewing him going in at halftime. He didn't seem to care for their opinions of the game.
David Oku better not go and break my achy breaky heart
Seeing as Kiffin is likely unable to make any further phone calls due to a case of foot in mouth disease, I think we have a very good shot at Oku.
Your saying Kifdin can't call any recruits? I could be wrong but I highly doubt that... Is that a fact?
yeahi doubt that too. he didn't do anything wrong other than be an idiot
I think SteveFC was being facetious...
So, how would you like to be Kiffin and have to talk with a recruit.
Hello, oh, hey coach. Heard your unusual statements the other day. You crack me up. Did Slive really remove your testicles?
excellent spelling miller
Besides, I do believe the talk Kiffin and his AD had would be very interesting.
Now coach, I hired you a few months ago. You have yet to coach a single game. I have already been called about your behaviour by Commissioner Slive. Coach, the next time you have a thought, don't.
I once won a spelling bee myself...
I would have been all state in spelling, but they wouldn't let me use my spell checker. Besides, I tend to go with the British spellings.
Here is a video of Oku from when he visited Auburn last summer. It sounds like Coach Gran impressed him. It is really had to guess what he may do now.
Surprisingly enough, I lost my 4th grade spelling bee because I couldn't spell devious. How freaking ironic is that?
Three beers into a better day and counting.
Hello HABOTN! Been lurking around for a while...decided to join in the fun!
Welcome to HABOTN Prowler.
I have been watching videos of David Oku. The impression I get is that he is very quick and makes cuts a lot like Caddy. He also looks very powerful and moves the pile. It didn't look like he was ungodly fast, but certainly fast enough. To me, this guy would be idealll with Malzahn's system.
welcome, prowler.
Tom Lugebill said Oku was "drastically undersized" on Dunaway and Brown in B'ham on teus.
He's listed at 5'10" 186 - is he samller than that or what? If no, that's not "drastically" anything.
If Lugenbill said that on a radio show in bammerham.... I think that probably means he thinks Oku ends up in AU....
note to self... stop using a stamp to sign my signature to my e-mails and text messages...
Oku certainly looks Cadillac-esque to me. They are very similar in size and speed...from what I've read they both run around a 4.5 forty.
Check out some of Oku's youtube videos. The kid is a load, but his cuting ability just stands out. He has the suddenness that Malzahn has mentioned. It is exactly what Tate is missing. Tate is powerful and fast, but lacks the quickness this kid has. He gets up to speed much quicker.
I really hope we can land Oku. He could be a great weapon for our arsenal.
I know that he's not quite as big, but are there any similiarities between the old and new Brandon Jacobs?
What's up HABOTN? Joining the fun. Listened to the Roundtable the last few days and can't help but think that Tide fans generally sound less intelligent. I was not raised in Alabama but have very deep AU roots, so I am not sure if this is an anomaly or how it really is. Could someone lend some creedence to this observation?
Welcome, snow!
As for you observation...it isn't just all in your head.
Oku would be a plus but he's not essential.
On the earlier depth discussion, I think 1 or 2 DL will be moved to OL in the spring so they have time to adjust. They won't wait for the new guys, they'll provide depth for the DL.
Snow, both sides have idiots. Bamers just have more than their share.
Thanks Prowler. Has there been any discussion lately of building an indoor practice field. I have heard time and again that the current practice field isn't so hot.
Does idiocy equal bad driving abilities? If so the NW must be the promised land.
NoVa,
Who from the current group of DL could legitimately make the move from DL to OL? I just don't see any of them that can legitimately make that move... and certainly not be effective...
Derrick Lykes.... maybe?
I guess what NoVa said is true for just about everything...there are both idiot AU and bammer fans (just not as many AU) and there are definitely horrible drivers everywhere!
Are there any rumblings of the potential candidates to round out the coaching staff yet?
I'm not an analyst or coach so I don't know. I do think someone will make the switch and it has to be in spring so they have time to learn the position.
If you want horrible drivers come to DC. Be careful to avoid any car with diplomatic tags. They not only learned to drive in another country but they have immunity.
That's kinda like drivers in the Gump... they never really learned to drive, and have no insurance...
I'm not a football player or coach, but Auburn's indoor facility -- considering how often it's used -- is more than acceptable.
In my opinion, of course.
the indoor facility is fine, it's just small. only 50 or 60 yards.
Nova, I remember it being pretty bad when my Dad was there in the early 90's. Immunity can be a dangerous thing.
Has anyone read CGM's book?
I think Tubs' complaint on the indoor facility was that is too short. Didn't he want a full 100 yds?
When was the current indoor facility constructed?
Hey Harrison, how are things in San Diego?
right nove, thay have to have 2 practices for off and def in the current indoor facility. tubs wanted a full size indoor field
Thanks for the comments on the indoor facility. I must of misheard something about it. Maybe it was the their regular outdoor practice field that was the issue? Any feedback on that?
the weather here is real classy. just like the smooth melodies of the jazz flute
That's what it was. Thanks guys. Tubs wasn't happy with it's size.
Right on. I bet today was an afternoon delight.
Harrison, my favorite scene in that movie. I don't why.
have you seen the extended version where he goes back to the club after being fired and the owner makes him eat a cat turd?
No. But I'll check it out this weekend. Is the cat turd a reference to the ladies man?
I'm out for now. Stay Classy, HABOTN!
i don't know. i never saw the ladies man movie
Before I go, no. The Ladies Man was human feces. Anchorman was cat poop.
that guy knows his poop
I don't think there is any comparison between the old Brandon Jacobs and the new Brandon Jacobs. The old Brandon Jacobs was basically a DE playing tailback.
welcome, snowhare (curious name). while we're all a bit odd, i think you'll find that michael is oddest--in a good way.
snow for my passion for riding snow.
Hare for my last name, And undying infinite love for AU Football.
That "dude" is annoying
Any word on PPL's leg?
If I recall correctly, JGT mentioned talking with him and saying he wasn't there yet, but should be by the summer. I could be wrong.
Well, Jeff Lebo gets kiss of death. How often do coaches get the "full support" endorsement from an AD during a mediocre (or worse) season and still be employed the following season? I would guess less than 50% of the time.
Lebo's contract must have been revised recently. Buyout is 2 million, not the 750K indicated in the 2005 revised contract.
I'm hoping the $2 mil is good enough reason to go against the odds. I can't imagine they'd throw that much $ away after just giving $5 mil to tubs to go to ESPN.
Speaking of which, I guess it was discussed earlier how ESPN trashed AU's recruiting class?
SLOW EVENING im going out for the night if my comments are out there later tonight disregaurd them
I think we're all taking a break after what was a very fast-paced week.
I support that kind of behavior.
PPL: He's still on his way back. It'll be summer before he'll be able to assess his long-term outlook.
Doc, I found out why Auburn's class ranked lower on ESPN. They don't count the JUCO guys, so guys like Benton and Freeman didn't count.
Thanks Jay. I thought you had mentioned talking with PPL, but from this comment, it seems like it isn't definite he will be ready. Is that the case? I have no idea of the seriousness of his injury.
underage drinking is illegal.
cool wildfires in the everglades right now
another 2 million of the money I and others give to Auburn athletics is going to buyouts is gonna piss me off.
I still can't find any obscure player jerseys in my closet, but I did locate a game worn Lindsey Scott UGA jersey in the soon to be ms frankenschmidt's area. Does wifey possess anything like that?
riding snow? is that snowboarding or snowmobiling?
He'll be healed by summertime.
Some guys retain all of their acceleration after that surgery, some don't. It's way too early to tell with PPL.
ALSO: My Gannett-mandated furlough runs from 2/15-2/21. I'm going to post a generic thread each day at 9 a.m. (I can set these up ahead of time) and that's all the coverage we'll have.
I hate that it has to be this way, but it's not my call.
I will return on 2/22 and resume HABOTN life as we know it.
A break is well deserved for all ... and to all good night.
But did they have to say Auburn's class "imploded" after Tubs resigned? It's not as good as I would have liked, but it's better than it would have been if Tubs was still coach, IMO.
yeah we deserved a break nice work
Jay ... whatever you need to do if fair enough for the rest of us ... we'll muddle through.
Too bad it's not next week when I'm off. I can't imagine what I could get done during an off week with no regular HABOTN activity
Jay G, if you get a radio gig, you'll let us know, right? At least Facebook us or something....
Also, will you be covering opening dayof Auburn baseball? Its the 22nd, right?
AU baseball opens on Friday the 20th, I believe.
I will not be there.
Don't worry, Jay GT. I won't be there, either.
I remember the good ol' days when AU baseball would come to Chapel Hill and sweep a weekend series. Good times.
that must have been Spring 2003 when Sr/Jr/III were amongst a smattering of AU fans cheering on the Tigers.
Anybody know a good way to search for a conference in DC... that I don't know the name of or exact location?
My wife says she has a conference in DC (leaves tomorrow, be back Tuesday)... but she doesn't know what the conference is for or where it is...
D. Miller - that's not a lot to go on. Say we find 10 conferences. How would you know which one if you don't know where or what it's about?
I like this one:
Washington, DC conference on Knot Theory and its Ramifications
some sort of medical conference.....
any particular specialty, or generic medical?
physicians?
nurses?
health admin?
Paul Johnson on Dontae Aycock (via the AJC): "He’s a good kid,” Johnson said. “I wish him the best. I do not have any hard feelings for Auburn. They did what they had to do. It’s big-boy football.”
D Miller, she's trying to get YOU to tell her what conference she is attending?
Okay. Will you be there for Auburn to wrap up the series with Elon?
Mr. Miller. It sounds like the wife doesn't want to be found for a couple of days. I suggest inserting a gps chip in her suitcase.
I'm with Peter on this one.
Peter: As far as Sunday 2/22, I really don't know what I'll be doing. My life is one day at a time, brother.
Dr. Habotn isn't attending a medical conference next week, so no need to worry about me. But the GPS chip may still be a good idea.
Exactly - PF, JGT, and I can only tell you, D Miller, things don't add up in this wifey story....
