Chizik speaks

In this spot yesterday was a video of Gene Chizik.

I have taken down the embedded video, but click here to view Chizik speak about his feelings on NSD and the Tigers' haul.

Enjoy.

Jay, All things considered: last years record, the negative media on Chiz, limited time to recruit etc.. how do you rate this class?

I'll go with a B+, which is great considering two months ago I was expecting C- at best.

It was going to be a C, so Gene Chizik and his peeps raised it a whole letter grade in six weeks.

That's pretty impressive.

Interesting. Coach Les Miles is stating that LSU pulled their offer to Benton before signing day.

9:36 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

No doubt BBradshaw is going to have a talk with Les Miles and straighten him out. Les won't last long in La if he doesn't play by Bradshaw's rules.

9:40 PM
Blogger YoungPJ said...

Miles would say that just the same that I would say I didn't study if I failed a test.

http://auburnundercover.com/news/articles/2009/2/4/james-stays-true-to-auburn-committment

Good article about LaVoyd James. Another player I'm excited about having. You can tell he is excited about playing for Auburn.

9:40 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

what was LaVoyd's injury?

This says a lot about Miles and I hope it motivates Benton.

Don't let them fool you Youngpj, a campfire is where we burn all the evidence of our illegal doings related to goat farms out west.

If I was grading out class (which I am clearly am not qualified to do) I would big it a B, if I was gradin Chizik and co's job of getting said class, I'd give them an A-, the class shaped up about as well as could be expected considering what they were facing.

10:06 PM
Blogger JgobravesHAG said...

25th really?

10:09 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Hi jhag,

I just caught a glimpse. I think it was recruiting rankings, I assume ESPN's very own. I can't think of anything else relevant right now that would have Auburn at 25th.

10:12 PM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

Yep. 25th.

Where have you been, jhag?

10:13 PM
Blogger Kathy said...

ESPN doesn't have Auburn in their top 25 in their recruiting rankings. They don't count juco guys or guys already enrolled according to Marshall, so their rankings aren't really accurate.

10:19 PM
Blogger JgobravesHAG said...

Silly peeps it was a hint of sarcasm of course were 25th according to ESPN, then again Notre Dame has been top 5 many of the last years

I would also like to see Jet's hate bama workout routine. I hope it is downloadable to my iphone.

6:59 AM
Blogger Jet said...

OK, you asked for it ...

JET'S HATE BAMA TO BETTER HEALTH WORKOUT!

1. "The Cadillac" -- Get on the treadmill and run 80 yards as fast as you can just like Caddy did on the first play in 2003.

2. "The Newton" -- Get a yoga mat, and dive on it twice, blocking an exercise ball each time.

3. "The Fourth and One" -- Do 12 chest presses, driving the weight forward just like the Auburn OL did for Brad Lester on the fourth down play in 2007.

4. "The Butt Kicking" -- Get on the quadricep machine ... it will follow the leg lifting motion we used to kick them all over the place in 2005.

5. "The Bo." -- Set up cones in the parking lot, run to the left cone, then back right as Bo did in 1983 for his first touchdown.

Modify and add to this workout with your own memories of Hating Bama. It's the healthy thing to do.

7:26 AM
Blogger Jet said...

Luv ... I can't share with you what I sent to Monica ... it is of the highest security clearance.

Trust me, it is a document dedicated to hatin' Bama.

I just read the Scarbinsky article on Barkley. I've had some fun with Barkley, but I thought he was just a single guy out partying and messing with people. Knowing he's married with kids puts a new spin on everything. He's not just a clown, but a father, husband and son. My days of having fun with Charles' problems are over. I hope he can recover and be who his family needs him to be.

On the lack of OTs in this class, here's some encouragement from Andre Harris' coach (Yes, I'm desperate):

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Three players from Lovejoy signed college football scholarships on Wednesday, highlighted by offensive tackle Andre Harris, who confirmed his commitment to Auburn.

“Harris is a four-year starter that never gave up a sack,” coach Al Hughes said. “He may be one of the best offensive lineman we have had and we have had some good ones.”

Hughes said Harris was also considering Tennessee, South Carolina and Maryland.

Why do I keep hearing about the Cuse with these big time recruits. What's going on up there?

8:08 AM
Blogger Commish of Old Pimps said...

Jay G.:

Do we have any schollies left for Mr. OKU (let alone room for another RB)?? Can't help but worry that will weigh in his decision.

Hope he comes. He appears to have all of the same positive attributes (bright, articulate, polite, mature) as Emory Blake. That kid is REALLY impressive.

8:08 AM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

Comm'r: Auburn doesn't have as many tailbacks as you may believe.

*Tate
*Fannin
*McCalebb will split time at WR
*Aycock
*E. Smith (role uncertain in my mind)
*B. Jaconbs (role uncertain)

8:24 AM
Blogger Commish of Old Pimps said...

Jay G: Good point on the number of RBs. I thought the actual numbers were greater. Since Tate is a senior next year, and Washington is likely to play another position, a good case can be made that a need remains to be filled.
