In case you were wondering from the picture above, I am sitting in the stands today. Space along press row was limited because I arrived a bit late today. So it goes.
- FINAL
Auburn 91-76. - FOURTH TO @ 2:24, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 83-75. The Tigers are hitting free throws. Yes, I'm serious. Eight of their past 11, in fact. That makes a difference, too. - THIRD TO @ 7:56, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 73-67. Waller is back at it. He scored on a drive, a three and now has three free throws awaiting after a savage mauling along the perimeter. - SECOND TO @ 13:20, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 60-54. The Tigers have scored on seven of their last nine possessions. They've made some defensive stops, too. It makes a big difference. - FIRST TO @ 15:50, 2nd half
MSU leads, 52-51. Auburn hasn't made many defensive stops today. It didn't seem like a big deal when Waller was going off earlier. Now the Tigers have cooled and MSU is still rolling along. - HALFTIME
Auburn leads, 42-40. - FOURTH TO @ 1:19
Auburn leads, 40-38. MSU is sitting in a 2-3 zone and the Tigers are having some trouble getting the shots they want. The Bulldogs aren't having those kinds of problems. They're basically firing away from outside and hitting. - THIRD TO @ 7:20
Auburn leads, 32-20. The Tigers haven't really scored since the last update. The one point was Knox hitting the free throw on the and-one referenced earlier. That's a six-possession span of scoring futility. The good news for Auburn is that MSU seems similarly messy right now. - SECOND TO @ 11:10
Auburn leads, 31-15. This hot start hasn't abated. I just saw Brendon Knox score an and-one on an alley-oop pass from Speed Reed. How about that? - FIRST TO @ 14:53
Auburn leads, 18-10. Great start for Tay Waller. He already has five baskets from three-point range. Incredible.

ReplyDeleteCrowd?
ReplyDeleteI'd say the crowd is around 6,000.
ReplyDeleteWOW AU looking good today!
ReplyDeleteSomeone posted on the other thread about the two possible assistants.
I am thinking it may be Lolley and Thigpen from UNC, named one of the top recruiters by Rivals 2007 and 2009. From reading the UNC site he landed 5 , 4*'s for UNC.
What up Jay. I bring greetings from texas...where f-ing fox sports network blacksout the auburn game on every single channel every single time. you are my eyes
ReplyDeleteLolly coached DB's when Chizik was at Auburn as DC. He must have liked him.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know why lolley was moved to nfl relations after '03?
ReplyDeleteAny of the AU Coaches in the house Jay?
ReplyDeleteAuburn ahead 40-38 w/1:20 remaining.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to see any coaches yet, nope.
ReplyDeleteFor you, THT -
ReplyDelete"North Carolina assistant coach Tommy Thigpen and current Auburn Director of NFL Relations Phillip Lolley could be named as assistant coaches by early next week according to the source." per AuburnSports.com
THT - I sent you the entire article via FB
Auburn leads 42-40 at halftime.
ReplyDeleteOmnica, the Queen of Habotn, your subjects are so very grateful for your benevolent reign.
ReplyDeleteon another note..
COME ON TIGERS KICK SOME BUTT!!!
WARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!!!! HEY!!!
Queen of the HABOTN is a gig I don't think Monica wants.
ReplyDeleteSurely there is a more accurate title we could find.
Can we give Dewayne Reed a Tylenol PM or a Benedryl before game just to take the edge off? Is this doable?
ReplyDeleteIf she doesn't want it, then Michael can have it. He's aspired to it for some time now.
ReplyDeleteRon ...
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that perhaps he was watching that TV show "Touched by Petrino."
That is exciting about Thigpen possibly coming to AU. I know he is a GREAT recruiter but how is he as a coach, anyone know?
ReplyDeletemon
ReplyDeleteany link to watch the game? the channel surfing link hasnt worked in a while for me.
First five minutes, right, guys?
ReplyDeletehow was the rebounding in the first half?
ReplyDeleteKeen observation, Jay G. I'm fine with the title of hottie just like everyone else.
ReplyDeleteTaylor - Sorry no link here either.
Speed Reed can't slow down.
ReplyDeleteHe's like Lionel Ritchie that way.
Speed out of control like Joaquin Phoenix.
ReplyDeleteBig Man Runnin' Da Floor!
ReplyDeleteAuburn ahead 63-59 with 11:24 remaining.
ReplyDeleteKnox is a serviceable player ... good to see him step up.
ReplyDeleteJust needs to quit putting ball on the floor underneath.
Knox is unrefined ... yet enthusiastic.
ReplyDeleteSo does that make it official? I am now Queen of HABOTN? Sweet.
ReplyDeleteLet's go Tigers!!!! Please, please, PLEASE kick 'em in the butt Big Blue!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou've always been a queen to me, Michael.
ReplyDeleteGod save the Queen!
ReplyDeleteWell golly, Monica. You're gonna make me cry.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a nice change of pace. Usually when I watch the Tigers I'm shocked when 3s and FTs go down. Tonight I'm shocked when they miss.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone else noticed the subtle shift where Q starts the game, but Frankie plays more minutes. Nice to have a freshman you can trust in crunch time
ReplyDeleteSomeone get that man a hankie!
ReplyDeleteFinal:
ReplyDeleteAuburn 91, MSU 76
Lebo must have finally made them practice free throws.
ReplyDeleteOn the football side of things, Kiffin has his 3rd recruiting violation.
ReplyDeleteSo they give the team with the most criminals the Fulmer Cup, will they give the coach with the most screwups the Kiffin Cup. The guy has 3 violations and a League Reprimand, what a champ.
Go AU!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about me Jay G, I got it together. But watch out, if I get any more love, the waterworks might start.
In an aside, as I may have mentioned months ago, my wife does not think Jan Terri is funny and thinks it's dumb that I think she is funny. As you may also recall, I had a son about a month ago. When talking about the addition to the family, my two daughters always call him, "Little Brother." This of course triggers me to start singing "Little Brother" by Jan Terri. Well, in Target today, wife my said the phrase "little brother" to my oldest daughter, age 4, and she sang "Come on, little brother.." just like Jan Terri. I was so darn proud. My wife got mad and told her not to sing that song. I told her to sing it loud and proud. Our house is divided on Jan Terri (do they make those house divided license plates for Jan Terri? I will put one on the minivan)
Kiffen is trying to become the next Kelvin Sampson.
ReplyDeleteI'm so darned proud of the Auburn Tigers today. What a great win. I was hoping big time but certainly wasn't expecting it.
ReplyDeleteWARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!
Did we beat 'em on the boards?
Michael, I hope you'll extend an invitation to all Hotties for your coronation. God save the Queen!
Auburn wins boards: 39-37.
ReplyDeleteGame set an SEC record for most threes attempted in a game: 62.
All this queen talk has me singing some "Fat Bottomed girls"
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, I thought Omnica was a title in itself.
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with this Auburn basketball team? Didn't they get the game plan? They are suppose to suck.
Thanks Jay GT for your (queue broken record) as usual outstanding coverage. War Eagle!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a safe drive home.
cue, sorry I was thinking about waiting in a ticket line, I suppose.
ReplyDeletethat was cool! michael is, of course, the queen. mon is the evil duke, waiting for a chance to off michael.
ReplyDeleteyay
ReplyDeleteAlso ... that was NOT a record for threes attempted. We received some erroneous information.
ReplyDeletejhag - what r u doing here? Aren't you supposed to be pushing some redwood around?
ReplyDeleteUGA beats the gators...wow
ReplyDeleteWe were defeated... Game was at 6 but we move on to regionals..
ReplyDeleteGot another HOTTIE streak going ... met AUFan365 at today's game.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
I love how Trooper Taylor is almost throwing a pseudo-gang sign in the picture below this.
ReplyDeleteG-Unit!
Jay GT - next time you cover an AU game in N.C. I'll be sure to stop by.
ReplyDeletejhag - go get 'em in regionals. Make the hotties proud!
Hey gang, let me save you some trouble.
ReplyDeleteDon't bother dropping the 10 spot on the latest Jason flick.
Wait and Netflix that steaming pile when it comes out in the summer.
For more, email me and I'll provide details.
PeterF -
ReplyDeletenot sure if you're around, but thanks for the great least of eateries in the St. Simon's area. I've stored it for future reference.
Sensi, you mean they finally made a Jason movie that wasn't good? After that Jason in space one, I thought he could provide quality acting anywhere.
ReplyDeleteSteve,
ReplyDeleteHere are 13 Things Wrong with the New Friday the 13th
I've never even been remotely tempted to see a Jason movie.
ReplyDeleteI did rent Cloverfield the other night. That's the best horror flick I've seen since Aliens.
Tar Heel Tiger, you think there is anything to the talk about Coach Thigpen coming to the plains?
ReplyDeleteNoVa: Really? Cloverfield?
ReplyDeleteI guess Silence of The Lambs did nothing for you?
Tarheel & P.F. - 'Preciate the posts concerning St Simons on previous blog. We will NOT be going to the Georgia Room, although I'm sure it is outstanding. We are pretty low-key folks, not to mention poor. I think we have enough spots to hit over a long weekend though.
ReplyDeleteSilence of the lambs was ok, but I wasn't interested enough to see the sequel (or was it a prequel).
ReplyDeleteI watched the end of the game ... impressive ... then I dashed to the kitchen to make some pasta with meat sauce, salad and garlic bread for Mrs. Jet and the Stewardess.
ReplyDeleteI had made Ghiardelli brownies earlier ... served them with vanilla and chocolate syrup -- that should get approval from Dr. H.
Valentine's Day big for the Mrs ... our first date was on Feb. 15 23 years ago. Take care of your sweeties, boys.
May 22 will be our 10 year anniversary. Better come up with something good.
ReplyDeleteIs Silence of the Lambs really horror? I more consider that suspense/mystery. And I would call Aliens an action movie. But I am not a professional movie categorizer, so feel free to ignore.
ReplyDeleteWikipedia's first sentence was, "The Silence of the Lambs (1991) is a psychological horror thriller..." I changed it to "The Silence of the Lambs (1991) is a psychological suspense thriller..." to support my point.
ReplyDeleteTHT, no problem. If you need a list more tailored to specific needs in that area (or a list for other activities), I can do that, too. Gained a wealth of knowledge of the Golden Isles during my time there.
ReplyDeleteWikipedia's first sentence is "The University of Alabama is a four-year institution of higher education located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama ...," but I changed it to "The University of Alabama is located by the River Styx in the seventh circle of Hell." to better support my point.
ReplyDeleteJet your commitment to the bama hate warms the cockles of my heart.
ReplyDeleteMr. and Mrs. J-Z just got done eating Crawfish Etouffee that I made for dinner tonight. Damn, sometimes I wish I was more like me.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Is it possible that Jeff Lebo doesn't suck as bad as we thought?
Who's the most evil villain?
ReplyDeleteJason Voorhees (films)
Michael Myers (films)
Hannibal Lector (films & books)
John Wayne Gacy (real life wacko)
Ted Bundy (real life wacko)
Paul Bear Bryant (drunk a-hole coach)
Poor Mrs. JZ
ReplyDeleteThe poor Mrs. JZ part happens later.
ReplyDeleteYou know, all it took was for me ... a Lebo defender ... to jump off the bandwagon, then they win three in a row. He doesn't suck ... he's a good X-O coach. It's the other things -- recruiting until this past year, selling the program, developing some of the players.
ReplyDeleteThey won today because they made shots, and played defense at crunch time. Varnado made his points, but he didn't kill us.
Lebo needs players, but he needs to sell his program internally. That will help crowds, which helps build the program. I presume if they get to 7 wins he survives.
Overshare, J-Z
ReplyDeleteNo joke, Sensi.
ReplyDeleteAnd happy Valentines Day, Sensi.
Gnome ...
ReplyDeleteTie ... Drunk coach/Leigh Leigh Tiffin's daddy.
Gnome,
ReplyDeleteTawana Ramsey?
Sorry...Twillita Ramsey.
ReplyDeleteJ-Z ...
ReplyDeleteHer name is not to be mentioned. Ever. Again.
DoWhat? - sorry for the delay, I've been scanning/photoshopping very old family photos. One had giant chunk missing from my daughter's face, including an entire eye. She now has a complete face with 2 left eyes and mild hypertelorism. But you can't tell when you zoom out to normal size.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question... all they talk about is basketball up here. I checked the usual Carolina related web sites and found nothing pertinent.
Sen Jet - Thank you for correcting the UA-T wikipedia entry. I will sleep better tonight. And yes, I give your dessert a Mobil 5* rating.
Rumor is she had 666 tattooed on the back of her neck. That's what I heard anyway.
ReplyDeleteOf course, TarHeelTiger can't help but be a fan of UNC alum Lebo, though I recently feared he wasn't going to be able to survive until the new arena. I certainly hope he does. We've put up with 90% mediocre or worse basketball for about a hundred years, so even if he doesn't improve, we can probably live with it until we don't have to pay a big buyout. Remember, Wooden didn't reach the Final Four until his 14th year at UCLA.
ReplyDeleteWar Eagle all. Big win for Lebo.
ReplyDeleteJet, I too jumped off Lebo's bandwagon. The loss to an below average Vandy team and a blowout at Ole Miss will do that. I agree with you completely. Good xo, average recruiter, needs badly to sell the program. The new arena and dorms will help recruiting. Perhaps someone in the athletic dept should step up and lead Lebo in selling the program. Wouldn't that be a novel idea. Not everyone is a Bruce Pearl type of guy
I do believe that Auburn has developed a team chemistry and has a decent chance at the post season.
ReplyDeleteJay G. Tate - it's been a blast. Hope you have a fun week and I'll catch up with you after your furlough.
ReplyDeleteGood night Hotties, and of course,
WARRRRRRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!! HEY!!!
Before I check out ... I'm heading out of town until Wednesday ... will have limited computer time.
ReplyDeleteIf it were any team other than Alabama, I'd feel sorry for them the way the lost today ... a tip-in at the buzzer, which was reviewed.
The kicker: South Carolina's player touched the ball when it was on the rim, which is basket interference. It wasn't called.
The officials reviewed whether the player had his hand off the ball when the light came on. The ball was clearly on the rim ... but that's not reviewable. So the officials had no choice but to score the basket and give South Carolina the win.
Jay G ...
ReplyDeleteGet some rest ... stay up all night ... whatever ... do whatcha wanna do.
We'll manage. And we'll be thinking 'bout you.
Michael, it would appear that you masquerade as user 74.230.0.205, lurking the annals of Wiki.
ReplyDeleteWell played my friend.
one last comment b4 I crash... Dan Mullen at Miss St has already tried to lure Thigpen to Starkville without success
ReplyDeleteValentine's day is officially over in the Eastern time zone...back to life as a grade A jerk!
ReplyDeletewde, frankenbummer.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you doing Scott. You have another hour and a half of kissing the missus's feet.
ReplyDeleteWDE!
ReplyDeleteGood morning hotties!
ReplyDeleteI classify a movie as horror if one of its primary goals is to give you nightmares.
A really good horror movie has a high peek factor. That's where you want to cover your eyes but have to peek out to see what's happening. This varies considerably with individuals and for me is rare.
l promised my honey that I'd go see a chick flick with her for Valentine's day.I'm not sure if I'm going to keep my word.
ReplyDeleteSome bigtime recruit in Georgia know's Lan Kiffin's name, but only Chizik's last name. Does that mean TN is ahead? Stupid AJC is reaching on that one.
PeterF- You're right, AJC is stupid on that one. 18 yr olds shouldn't be on a first name basis with the coach, anyway.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely ZERO in Chapel Hill or Raleigh papers or web sites about Thigpen. Was it just a tease?
